Erica Schreiner is an experimental video and performance artist based in New York City. She shoots on VHS while performing before the camera. Erica creates allegorical, ethereal video art that combines feminine and anarchistic themes, ritual, and sensuality. Manipulating existing objects or building sets to perform in and film, Erica creates surreal, intimate worlds on VHS video, employing her clearly defined style.Erica received a Bachelor degree in Graphic Design from The Art Institute of Portland. Once in New York, she attended the School of Visual Arts Lens and Screen Art's Residency Program with a full scholarship, and went on to study performance art under the direction of Marina Abramović at MoMA PS1.Erica Schreiner has completed more than 100 performative video art pieces, including two feature films and several music videos. On this episode of LOL, our Producer and host of Paola's Picks, Paola "Pie" Soto interviews filmmaker Gary Terracino. This hard-working Dominican-American talent wrote and directed the award-winning short film, "My Polish Waiter," which played Sundance and Lincoln Center & MoMA's New Directors/New Films Festival among many others. His feature film debut, “Elliot Loves,” which he wrote and directed, won six awards on the festival circuit in 2012-2013, including the Audience Award for Best Feature at the Miami Gay & Lesbian Film Festival, and played over 70 festivals worldwide. “Elliot ” sold to TLA Releasing for worldwide distribution and to HBO for cable and streaming. After airing on HBO and HBO Latino for several years, it is now available on Amazon, Tubi and iTunes, among other streaming platforms. Terracino was a staff member of the HBO-New York International Latino Film Festival from its founding in 2000 until 2012. Terracino was lead researcher for the best-selling 2015 biography of Woody Allen, “Woody,” by David Evanier. He has also been a freelance journalist for The New York Times, Urban Latino and Remezcla.  His TV pilot, “Nelson!” sold to Warner Bros TV/Stage 13. His new feature film, “Waking Up Dead,” which he wrote and directed, stars Traci Lords, Gabriel Sousa and Judy Geeson. A dark sex comedy shot in LA at the height of the pandemic, the film was profiled extensively in the Hollywood Reporter, Variety and on the BBC. It won the Festival Favorite and Director's Choice awards at the 2022 Cinema Diverse/Palm Springs Gay & Lesbian Film Festival and sold to Breaking Glass Pictures for distribution.

Rosella Tursi is the editor of the feature documentary Willie, an official selection at Hot Docs 2019 and a runner up for the Rogers Audience Award. Originally from Montreal and now based in New York City, her recent credits include the documentary series Dirty Money (Netflix), Dark Net (Showtime), The Last Defense (ABC limited series executive produced by Viola Davis), Jonestown: Terror in the Jungle (SundanceTV limited series executive produced by Leonardo DiCaprio) and The Vice Guide to Film ( Viceland) as well as the documentary JFK: The Smoking Gun for which she earned a Canadian Screen Award nomination for Best Editing in a Documentary Program or Series. Rosella's narrative credits include the award-winning Canadian series Mohawk Girls, the upcoming short, Junk, and several other short films. He lays down the tips for staying grounded through tough times, sheds light on life as a therapist, and even gives some serriiiously solid advice useful to diffuse arguments in relationships at work and home. MORE ABOUT THIS AWESOME GUY! Patrick Bozarth serves as the Executive Director of Community Counseling Center, and is also a mental health and substance use treatment counselor. Patrick earned a Master’s degree in clinical psychology from Antioch University, Los Angeles and was awarded the distinguished honor of being the first-ever graduate to earn a specialization degree in the field of LGBT psychology and counseling, in addition to being the first recipient of the Sandra L. Golvin Memorial Scholarship for LGBT affirmative psychology. Over the past several years, he has gained extensive clinical experience working with a wide range of populations in outpatient and in-home care, case management and group counseling. Patrick currently serves as a member of the Ryan White Executive Planning Council and the SAPTA Advisory Board, and in 2015, he launched the Nellie Bly Leadership Society, the first of its kind initiative focused on increasing awareness of mental health care in Nevada through education and advocacy. Todd Richardson is the Pinellas County Development officer for Equality Florida. He is a graduate of the University of South Florida College of Fine Arts, and a veteran of the United States Air Force. His life as an activist started with photographing the March on Washington in 1993. As a commercial photographer, Todd's work has been seen in advertisements for companies such as Dillard's, The Home Shopping Network, and Esquire Magazine. As an exhibiting artist, Todd has raised thousands of dollars through art performance pieces and activism. His photograph, “The Lost Pages of The Bard,” was accepted into the personal collection of Sir Elton John. Most recently, his photography has appeared in the Huffington Post. CHRISTINA RAIA In Her Own Words: Filmmaking & Community Leadership I am now a New York City based Writer/Director and the Founder and Team Leader of CongestedCat Productions, LLC. I shot my first feature film, SUMMIT, a Horror-Drama, in 2013. It premiered at the 2015 Manhattan Film Festival and was awarded Best Horror Film. I won Best Director for the film at the 2015 Flickers: Rhode Island International Film Festival (Vortex Genre Fest); and the film also screened at the 2015 Scare-A-Con Film Festival, 2015 Unreal Film Festival, and 2016 Macabre Faire Film Festival. It is available on Amazon Prime, Vimeo on Demand, and VHX. Shortly after wrapping production on SUMMIT, I directed and produced the comedic web series 'Kelsey,' which premiered on blip.tv in September 2013 to rave reviews and consistent press coverage, including as a Critic’s Pick and named one of the 19 Best Comedy Web Series of 2013 by Indiewire.com. It has over a quarter million hits online and has screened across the country as part of an LGBT Web Series Panel tour, most notably at Outfest. It is now available on Vimeo and Youtube. I turned my desire to foster collaboration and engagement in the local film community into IndieWorks, a monthly film screening series showcasing and supporting the work of other independent filmmakers in New York. Each month screens 4 or 5 shorts and consistently has over 50 people in attendance. It is currently starting its 6th year and has gained name recognition of its own. My work often has a focus on character exploration. I have an affinity for ensemble pieces and quick-witted dialogue. I love exploring social issues through humor and horror. My other credits as Writer, Director include a dozen independently produced (read no-budget and community supported) narrative shorts that have made official selection at film festivals across the country. I am currently on the festival circuit with with my second feature, a comedy titled About A Donkey, written by and co-produced with 'Kelsey' collaborator Kelsey Rauber. It has screened at the 2018 Austin Revolution Film Festival, where it was nominated for 7 awards and won Best Produced Screenplay, as well as the 2018 North Carolina Gay & Lesbian Film Festival, 2018 Georgia Film Festival, 2018 Adirondack Film Festival, 2018 Buffalo International Film Festival, 2018 YoFiFest; 2019, Flathead Lake International Cinemafest, and 2019 Cambria Film Festival; with upcoming screenings at the 2019 Queens World Film Festival and 2019 Capital City Film Festival. I’m in early festival submissions for a new horror short titled “The Gaze,” as well as in early development for Silent Night, my feature horror-comedy that I intend to be my third feature; the screenplay for which made the Quarter Finals of the 2016 Slamdance Screenplay Competition. John Kazlauskas: While an MA student at Gallatin studying documentary filmmaking and social justice, John worked as a Graduate Housing Assistant at 80 Lafayette. During that time he was also a Production Assistant on the Oscar-winning Bowling for Columbine, while his own documentary SPEAK UP! premiered at the San Francisco Gay and Lesbian Film Festival before being acquired for national distribution through the Media Education Foundation. While a Community Developement Educator (CDE) at Hayden Hall, John started the MFA program in Dramatic Writing at Tisch. Since leaving NYU, John has worked as a Writer’s Assistant, Script Cooridnator and Writer on TV shows including Brothers & Sisters, SMASH, Happily Divorced, Mulaney and currently NBC’s Superstore. In addition, he has written freelance jokes for Weekend Update on Saturday Night Live. Dr. Sara Klein currently serves as the AVP for Student Affairs at Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, NJ. Prior to her role at Stevens, she served as Dean of Campus Life and Engagement and Title IX Coordinator at Wagner College. Dr. Klein also held the positions of Associate Dean of Campus Life and Director of Res Ed at Wagner College. Before coming to Wagner, she worked as a CDE in the Department of Res Ed at NYU, and as a Fixed Income, Currencies & Commodities analyst at Goldman, Sachs & Co. Dr. Klein is an adjunct professor at NYU in the HESA program. She has also taught in Wagner College’s Executive MBA program and has instructed webinars for the American College Personnel Association and ResLife.net, as well as presented throughout the country at professional conferences, seminars, and workshops. Dr. Klein has published articles in the Journal of the First Year Experience and Students in Transition, the Journal of College and University Housing, and authored a chapter in Linking Theories to Practice: Case Studies for Working with College Students (3rd Edition). Dr. Klein earned her Ph.D. at NYU in Higher Education, where she also received a Master’s degree in the same subject. She graduated from Washington University in St. Louis with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Music. She lives with her husband, Ben, and two young children in Maplewood, NJ. Ryan Sylvester is a Judge Advocate (lawyer) in the U.S. Navy. He is a native of Little Falls, Minnesota. He completed a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communications (1998) as well as a Master of Science in Educational Leadership (2002) at Minnesota State University Moorhead; a Master of Science in Global Affairs (2007) at NYU; a Master of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies at the U.S. Naval War College (2018); and a Juris Doctorate (2011) at Fordham University School of Law. He is currently working toward a Master of Science in Strategic Intelligence at the National Intelligence University. Ryan is currently assigned to a legal office at Fort George G. Meade. His prior assignments include: U.S. Fleet Cyber Command/U.S. TENTH Fleet; Office of the Judge Advocate General Code 18 (Intelligence, Cyber, and Information Operations Law); Command Judge Advocate, USS EMORY S. LAND (AS 39); Policy Advisor, U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Undersecretary of Defense for Policy (Oceans Policy); Defense Counsel, Defense Service Office North in DC; and Trial Counsel, Legal Assistance Attorney, and Command Services Attorney at Region Legal Services Attorney at Region Legal Service Office Naval District Washington in Washington, DC. During law school Ryan interned with the Sierra Leone Mission to the UN in NY. Prior to law school, Ryan had a career as a university administrator for eight years. From 2003-2007 he was the CDE for Weinstein Hall at NYU. From 1999-2003 he was he was an Area Director.

Stripe Gandara, a butch lesbian who holds her PhD in Gender and Sexuality Studies from the University of Nebraska, was a panelist in the discussion called "Between Butches: Maintaining Sisterhood, Survival, and the Specificity of Womanhood in a Post-Trans World." The discussion took place at the first annual Lesbian Film Festival in Paducah, Kentucky in September, 2016. WLRN's Thistle Pettersen starts by asking her what it means to be in a "post-trans" world and is surprised by her answer. You will notice that Gandara, like other butch lesbians on the panel are truly feminist in their choice to embrace their womanhood and sisterhood, yet they are still trying to co-exist with transgenderism. Using a lot of academic language, they make it seem like co-existence and mutual support are possible, which is not the view of radical feminists who understand the violent nature of the take-over of women's spaces and culture by trans activism and ideology. She was born in San Francisco and raised in Hong Kong, the United Arab Emirates, and Malaysia. She received her BFA from the San Francisco Art Institute, and her MFA from UC Berkeley. Her work has been exhibited in the Bay Area at the Berkeley Art Museum, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, Southern Exposure, Richmond Art Center, and Kearny Street Workshop, nationally at New Image Art (Los Angeles), Nora Eccles Harrison Museum (Salt Lake City), thirtynine hotel (Honolulu), and internationally at Future Prospects (Philippines), Galerie Blanche (France), and Osage Gallery Kwun Tong (Hong Kong). She is also 1/3 of the manic, brilliant, highly delusional artist trio Mail Order Brides/M.O.B. They have collaborated on a variety of shenanigans for venues including the DeYoung Museum, Lizabeth Oliveria Gallery, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, Southern Exposure, the National Asian American Film Festival, The San Francisco Gay and Lesbian Film Festival, and the McColl Center for Visual Art. Wofford has worked in arts education for over a decade, with schools and organizations including the University of San Francisco, UC Berkeley, California College of the Arts, Diablo Valley College, SFMoMA, Casa De Los Jovenes, Leadership High School, First Graduate, City Arts and Tech High School, and Out Of Site. Her awards include the Eureka Fellowship, the Murphy Fellowship, and grants from the Art Matters Foundation, UCIRA, and the Pacific Rim Research Program. She has also undertaken artist residencies at The Living Room, Philippines, Solyst Artist in Residence Center, Denmark, and Chateau de la Napoule, France.
