To cap off their 9th season, in episode 368 James and Luke list their best (and worst) reads, then name the best (and worst) adaptations of the year. It was an exciting year highlighted by their first ever live recording featuring the incredible Martha Wells who joined the show to talk Murderbot at WorldCon in Seattle. The podcast didn't stop at just sci-fi, though, making a deep dive into Dracula, exploring a legendary anime, dissecting a trio of Stephen King movies, laughing with a Shakespeare retelling for the ages, and lamenting a fantasy series cancelled before its time. Topics also include: The Wheel of Time, Nosferatu, Mickey 17, Conclave, The Ring, The Iron Giant, and so much more. Thank you to everyone who made this year a great one for Ink to Film! #732 What if one of the most overlooked “boring businesses” is actually one of the most scalable — and most AI-resistant — opportunities out there? In this episode, host Brien Gearin sits down with entrepreneur Ian Noble — founder of Run Steady Investments and former dry cleaning operator who spent 14 years growing, scaling, and ultimately selling his family's business in Austin. Ian breaks down why dry cleaning is not a laundromat business, why quality control and customer service make or break you, and why buying an existing operation often beats starting from scratch or franchising. They also dive into modern growth levers like centralized plants with retail “drop” locations, pickup-and-delivery routes, wash-and-fold as a major revenue driver, and the power of automated review requests to dominate local search. If you've ever considered a “boring” business with real demand and a clear path to scaling, this conversation is a blueprint for how to become a great operator — and build something you can keep long-term or sell for a strong exit! What we discuss with Ian: + Dry cleaning vs laundromats + Family business origins + Scaling to multiple locations + Quality control as a moat + Centralized plants model + Pickup & delivery growth + Wash-and-fold revenue + Online reviews & reputation + Franchising pitfalls + Building for exit or longevity Thank you, Ian! On this episode of Talking Guitars on Johnny Beane TV, we kick things off by A/B-ing two nearly identical Squier Strat-style guitars — one loaded with a Seymour Duncan Fat Cat P90 in the bridge, and the other with a Seymour Duncan humbucker. Same guitars, different pickups… and WOW, they each bring their own unique vibe and tone. We then continue the project from yesterday, diving deeper into the Squier Strat with the Seymour Duncan Fat Cat P90. All the wiring and installation were handled off-camera before the show, so we jump straight into playing, tone talk, and real-world impressions. I did notice the volume pot was a little touchy, so I worked around it using a volume pedal during the session. Along the way, we swap between a few other guitars — including a couple more Squiers and the Kramer equipped with a Vega Trem and the killer Holoflash finish. Huge thanks once again to Ron for the incredible paint job — it looks absolutely amazing! If you love pickup comparisons, guitar mods, real tone talk, and live gear switching, this episode is for you. Jump into the comments and let me know which pickup YOU prefer!

Before October 7th, Trump’s second term and the election of Zohran Mamdani rocked New York’s Jewish community, Manhattan’s famed 92nd Street Y – like most mainstream Jewish institutions – played it relatively safe when it came to programs about Israel. Susan Engel, executive producer of the 92nd St. Y Talks, tells the Haaretz Podcast that the famed Manhattan cultural center has undergone “a soul-searching since October 7 around our own Jewish identity and around who we are as a Jewish institution. And I think we've had to double down on our values and what it means to present different views, sometimes critical of Israel – because it's important to hear what someone else who thinks differently” has to say. Her audiences – in-person and the millions who watch her events online – she believes, greatly “appreciate” the fact that she can bring together people who “really disagree strongly” yet can “have a conversation and be civil.” At the same time, she said, the Y – founded as a center for Jewish life and culture in 1874 – experienced a boycott and staff walkouts after October 7 – maintains “red lines.” They will not platform those who have expressed “homophobic, transphobic, misogynistic” views or “if we feel that someone believes that Israel should be destroyed.” On the podcast, Engel also discusses the big-name cultural, political and Hollywood figures who have taken to the 92nd St. Y stage, including a recent appearance by Rob Reiner, who died tragically earlier this month, the art of creating an intimate space for interviews when millions are watching, and her experience as a judge at the Jerusalem Jewish Film Festival. This episode kicks off on a personal note as I pay tribute to Adam the Woo — sharing with Ron and the chat how his videos inspired my own journey into content creation and what his work still means to me today. We dive into some powerful moments from Adam's travels, including his visits to Randy Rhoads' grave and the Randy Rhoads plane crash site — must-see spots for any rock fan. From there, it's music news, breaking down a story about KISS, Kiss may be finished with touring, but guitarist Tommy Thayer says the band's story isn't over yet. Following their recent appearances at the Kiss Kruise event in Las Vegas, Thayer told MusicRadar that the shows were a success and hinted at more to come. “Fan events like this are great, and we'll probably do more,” Thayer said, adding that it felt natural playing together again after nearly two years. While full tours are off the table, he teased that “there's a lot in the works” behind the scenes. Thayer also didn't rule out new music, saying the band still has “a lot of great ideas and a desire to keep creating.” He pointed to Kiss's avatar project as an example of how the band is embracing new technology and future possibilities. Thayer joined Kiss full-time in 2002 after Ace Frehley's departure and remained with the band through their final tour, which ended at Madison Square Garden in 2023. Although Frehley and drummer Peter Criss were originally expected to appear at the farewell show, those plans ultimately fell through. Then straight to the workbench
The UNC Tar Heels stacked another two-win week, beating ETSU at home and gutting out a moxie-filled close one against Ohio State in Atlanta. This segment of the Omni Talk Retail Fast Five, sponsored by the A&M Consumer and Retail Group, Mirakl, Ocampo Capital, Infios, and Quorso, explores Amazon's reported plans to launch a Rush pickup service enabling one-hour order collection at Amazon-owned stores. According to Business Insider, the service would let shoppers place unified orders from Amazon's marketplace and physical store inventory. Chris argues this is a road to nowhere given Whole Foods' operational constraints and Walmart's superior store network, while Anne sees potential if Amazon can solve the logistics puzzle. North Carolina only played once this past week as they had their usual exam break to wrap the fall semester. The Tar Heels looked every bit of a distracted team, and will need to tighten up before ACC play begins in just over two weeks. Sherrell McMillan and Sean Moran join Joey Powell to dissect it all. The Coast to Coast is delivered by Salvio's Pizzeria in Cary, an award-winning, go-to local pizza spot for game days, catering, family meals, events, and more. They've been serving Tar Heel fans for over twenty years. Pickup, delivery, or dine in. More info at Salviospizza.com. The Inside Carolina Podcast network features a wide range of current UNC sports topics, from game previews and instant postgame analysis, to recruiting breakdowns. IC's stable of writers, insiders and analysts -- plus special guests -- comprise each program. Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company.
