In today's episode (and since Coachella is just over a week away) I figured it would be awesome to speak with LA based composer/musician/musical director (and No Doubt touring member) - Gabrial McNair. Gabrial is a super inspiring guy with an array of musical talents (including trombone, keys, vocals, songwriting etc). These talents have led him working with numerous artists from No Doubt, Gwen Stefani, Green Day, The Offspring, Sublime With Rome, Smashing Pumpkins, Lenny Kravitz and many, many more. He also has his own band 'Oslo', which I strongly suggest you check out. For more information on Gabrial, please visit - www.gabrialmcnair.com or search Gabrial McNair on Instagram. For more information on Travis, please visit www.travismarc.com For more information on the Musicians Mentor, please visit www.musicians-mentor.com Lastly (as usual), please remember to rate, review and follow as we continue to create new content for you all, thank you. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/musiciansmentor/support

I can write an encyclopedia on how Serafina's Wednesday afternoon open mic at Cinema Bar on LA's Westside is one of the best places to work on your stuff in LA (for all you LA comics who've been listening to the podcast), but I got a lot of ground to cover here. Serafina Costanza is a Davis, CA born/LA-based comedian who you can see performing regularly at Westside Comedy Theater in Santa Monica and all up and down the California coast. She also produces The Shack Show, second Wednesday of every month at The Shack in Playa Del Vista.I've done the show twice. Not only is it fun, but The Shack has a damned good burger! In this episode, we talk about going to punk shows, Coachella, vices, quitting smoking (which I recently did myself), Sublime, Sublime With Rome, LA weed, casinos, and so much more! Gerardo Alarcon is an LA-born/based stand-up comedian who features all over America. He also produced and cohosts the critically acclaimed podcast Raccoon Tweeties. He's silly, funny, busts his ass, and a veteran of both comedy and podcasting. I've known Geraldo for many years, mainly from long hot Covina nights at The Chatterbox. I definitely grew closer in the years following the pandemic. It's always a joy bumping in into each other; whether be at The Glendale Room, The Barkley in South Pasadena, or whether. In this episode, we talk how insane earthquakes are when you really think about it, 9/11, railing against things that bring people joy, Big Bang Theory, menudo, Matt Rife, Italian food, sobriety, playing music, he even tells a funny story of going on a beer run with Rome Ramirez, producer and singer of the Long Beach staple, Sublime With Rome. He even teaches me a bunch of stuff about podcast production, and so much more! It may not have been the Ian Ira Rousso Show/Raccoon Tweeties crossover episode with Brendan Cooney I always envisioned, but it was a great talk regardless. (Oh hey @cooneyordie I will sign a legally-binding contract that says I can't put you on any future top 100 LA comics to watch list if you both come on the pod together! You wanna play hardball?! I'll play hardball!) Available now on YouTube, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and wherever you stream your baloney! Sublime lives as Sublime with Rome dies. Rome has announced he is leaving and has done so in the worst possible way from a PR standpoint, in my opinion. I will explain why. We had the pleasure of interviewing Written By Wolves over Zoom video!New Zealand's genre bending rockers Written By Wolves released the music video for their latest single “GIVE 'EM HELL”.This new single follows the success of the bands 2021 EP ‘The Collab Project', a project with a mental health initiative aimed at giving their fans, friends and followers a platform to talk about their mental health. This EP featured collaborations with chart topping artists like Sonny Sandoval of P.O.D, Kellin Quinn of Sleeping With Sirens, Trenton Woodley of Hands Like Houses and Sydney Rae White of The Wild Things, and received critical acclaim from both press and fans alike, while racking up millions of streams across DSPs. Now Written By Wolves made up of vocalist Michael Murphy, guitarists Davie Wong, and Bahador Borhani, drummer Karl Woodmans and percussionist Oli Lyons, are back and ready to bring their fresh and progressive, cinematic rock to the world starting with their latest single “GIVE 'EM HELL”. This single finds Written By Wolves examining an all too real subject of how the division in our society could possibly lead to our downfall.Renowned for their highly energetic live show, the Written By Wolves have already shared the stage with international heavyweights such as Machine Gun Kelly, Limp Bizkit, Pendulum, Sublime With Rome, Suicidal Tendencies, Hed PE, Falling In Reverse, Escape The Fate, We The Kings, Four Year Strong, Stevie Stone, Kehlani and have recently completed back-to-back tours with two of New Zealand's biggest Rock bands - Devilskin and Blindspott. Written By Wolves announced themselves on the world stage with their debut release, ‘Secrets' in 2019 and followed that up with their 2021 hit EP ‘The Collab Project, continuing to capture new listeners across the globe. Today Written By Wolves are one of the highest streamed rock bands from New Zealand, having amassed more than 350,000 monthly listeners, 50,000 followers and more than 60 million streams on Spotify and over 113,000 subscribers and 66 million views on YouTube. These coins are worth about 33 thousand dollars !! He got really smart cause then he went to one of the coin machines better known as Coin Star. He got the face value of them not the value that they were worth. So he got ripped off and cops were easy to track down Shane cause of security cameras. He got busted really hard by the FL police department. Bye Bye Shane and thank you for making the No Sweat News really special. Story Number 2 : Dateline San Fran where a couple got a ticket for a parking in a "Red Zone" but it was not red when they parked, it looks like they stopped went into Town Square and it looks like the people who work for the town must have painted it while they were in the building. The couple even pointed out that right were there tire was rubbed up against the curd did not have any paint on it so another words they painted right around the outline of there car. They are fighting this 150 buck ticket. Story Number 3 : Dateline Chicken wings !! Yummy but an interesting fact that the best flavor Chicken wing sauce is not Buffalo which is a big shock. Coming in at number 1 is BBQ sauce !! and don't forget Friday is national Chicken Wing Day. Number 2 is Ranch flavor wings, The spicy Buffalo sauce flavor comes in at number 3. Its a crazy fact and get out and enjoy your favorite wings this summer. For one iv never even seen Ranch wings only the dip that we dip those in. On Today's No Sweat News 7-26-22 Story Number 1: Very sad story to start with as we say goodbye to the Klondike Choco Taco !! It was such a wonderful snack all the time but yes they will discontinue it after so many years. It was invented in Philly in the early years of the 1980s. Its been available in ice cream trucks for awhile and then hit the shelves in grocery stores in 1996. We have a couple that signed the petition to keep it going for us to still enjoy. So sad to see it go but maybe with the people signing the petition who knows maybe we can keep it going and back on the shelves. Story Number 2: The pastor of a church gets robbed? Yes Dateline NY City i can't believe this is a story but with his connection to God and maybe he didn't have a lot of money. It even happen during his sermon. Three masked gunman broke in and robbed him of his 1 million dollars of jewelry ! Iv been asking how no one stepped in. The Bishop was loaded up with all his jewelry and his wife had a bunch of stuff that was robbed too. Story Number 3: Dateline England where 2 guys stole 36,000 dollars worth of chewing gum. What would you do with all that gum? Well here is what happen they cut open the side of a delivery truck and robbed the pallets of gum. This is unreal. They removed 17 of the 19 pallets. They did get busted. And im just wondering they are going to say when the other inmates say what are you in for ? This is up there with someone getting locked up for cutting those tags off the mattress. That's why we call it the No Sweat News. Can't beat crazy That is Today's No Sweat News. Dug and long time friend Ray Amico get Real On... The state of the touring industry during such crazy COVID-19 times. What the future holds and what's next. They then get a little into some philosophy on how to reimagine the industry and beyond! Ray Amico is a multi-faceted musician/composer/producer/studio engineer for over 30 years, known as the guitar player in the legendary NY Bizarre-Core band, SIX AND VIOLENCE as well as a veteran Tour Manager, Production Manager, FOH Sound Engineer, and Tour Accountant. BIOGRAPHY Born in Brooklyn, N.Y in the late '60s, Ray started out in the early 80's first as a musician, then as a producer and studio engineer. Ray worked for several years in various NYC studios, as an engineer for A&M Records, working on projects for artists such as Celine Dion, Taylor Dayne, Mariah Carey, Cheap Trick, Norman Bates & The Showerheads and many, many others. From the mid-'80s through the late 2000s, Ray was best known as the guitarist for the NY Bizarre-Core Band, SIX AND VIOLENCE, who were known on the scene for their radically strange music and stage shows, which drew notice from Ian Anderson of JETHRO TULL, who loved the band so much that he played flute on two songs for their 1989 debut album, “Lettuce Prey”; the same year that JETHRO TULL controversially won the Grammy for “Best Hard Rock / Heavy Metal Recording”. After several years in the studio, Ray found that several of the artists that he had been working with started asking him to go on the road with them, doing their FOH Live sound, as well as taking care of responsibilities as Tour Manager / Production Manager, with the skills that could cover all of the different types of things that happen on the road. Over the last 25+ years, Ray had been on the road almost constantly, working with artists internationally, at every possible level. Ray has toured with a wide diversity of artists over the years, in multiple positions, from Toni Braxton to John Fogerty, George Lopez, Dane Cook, Smash Mouth, Ke$ha, DEVO, Fiona Apple, Sublime With Rome, The Cult, Jane's Addiction, 2 Skinnee J's, Jimmy Cliff, Zucchero, Panic! At The Disco, Dream Theater, “Weird Al” Yankovic, System Of A Down, Nancy Sinatra, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Eric Johnson, Chic with Nile Rodgers, Beastie Boys, Sinead O'Connor, Daryl Hall & John Oates, Jim Gaffigan, as well as many, many others. As of March 2020, Ray was on a Central, South & North American tour with the Italian artist Eros Ramazzotti when the international Coronavirus Pandemic struck, ending that and seemingly every other tour and event, for the undetermined future. After moving to Rome, Italy in 2004 Ray released his first solo album as TYRANASSAURUS RAY, called “The Never-Ending Battle Of Fear”, a compilation of Ray's demos and recordings from all over the world. While living in Rome, Ray was introduced by a mutual friend to Eddie Zengeni, who along with Ray has a deep love, knowledge, and fascination with Mob-related films such as “The Godfather” and “GoodFellas”, as well as a passion for all types of music. While working for years as Tour & Production Manager for the band DEVO, Ray met his future wife Michelle, who was DEVO's secretary at their MUTATO MUZIKA STUDIOS in LA. After moving back to the states, Ray married his loving wife Michelle in 2009 and adopted both of her children, Michael and Matthew. In 2016 Eddie Zengeni approached Ray with a project: Eddie was writing, producing, and starring in his own independent street-gangster film set in Rome, Italy called “UNREDEEMED”, and asked Ray if he would write and record the entire soundtrack and score for the film. Ray asked one of his closest friends, keyboardist/producer Michael Klooster of the band SMASH MOUTH to be his co-musical director of the film and for the two of them to collaborate on the entire soundtrack and score of the film, consisting of a wide variety of styles, and accompanied by the talented Josh Mighell on drums/percussion. Along with contributions on various songs from a variety of friends, the talented singer Fiona Apple also supplied inspiration as an Associate Producer of the film. Ray has a Bachelor's Degree in Communications from CUNY Queens College and is extremely passionate about the loves of his life: his wife Michelle, his NY Mets, his puppy dogs, and music. We had the opportunity to interview Sublime with Rome at KAABOO Del Mar Festival!Eric and Rome talk about their families growing up and how they got into music. Rome discusses how he connected with Eric which led to magic of Sublime with Rome.Billboard charting ska-punk trio Sublime With Rome recently released their cover of Post Malone’s “Goodbyes”. “We decided to cover Posty’s song “Goodbyes” cuz it’s a damn good song and it’s actually one chord away from being the exact chord progression as ‘Santeria’. It only felt right to drop the solo in,” states Sublime With Rome singer Rome Ramirez. The band was inspired to do the “Goodbyes” cover after their recent performance with Post Malone at the Bud Light Dive Bar NYC show. Massive outlets such as The New York Times, New York Post, Billboard, Complex, People, Stereogum, Just Jared, Uproxx, Yahoo!, and Zimbio attended and posted rave reviews of the event. Nylon states, “Seeing Post Malone or Sublime With Rome alone, performing in a dive bar in the heart of New York City, is wild enough, but the pair combining forces to perform such a massive song is peak chaotic good.”Blessings, Sublime With Rome’s most recent full-length album, debuted at #2 on the Current Alternative Album Chart, #10 on the Current Digital Albums Chart, and #26 on the Billboard Top Albums Chart. Blessings, was produced by Rob Cavallo (Green Day, Paramore, Linkin Park), and “Wicked Heart” was co-produced by Rob Cavallo and Andrew Goldstein (Robert DeLong, Blackbear, Lauv). Liam asks Josh if grime is more punk than punk, they discuss that Skints cover of Katy B track (On A Mission), Josh talks about working with the Mad Caddies and Liam mispronounces Aimee from The Interrupters’ name. Trigger warning; Liam and Josh talk about mental health and how the band as a whole deal with mental health in a positive way. Josh name-drops Tim (Time Bomb) Armstrong's podcast/radio show, and we find out if there will be any new ‘Skints material coming to our ears any time soon!
