In this episode of Quality Matters, Tonya Winders, President and CEO of the Global Allergy and Airways Patient Platform (GAAPP), joins host Andy Reynolds to unpack the diagnosis and care gaps that plague asthma treatment—from delayed access to spirometry, to underuse of biologics. Tonya explains what high-quality, patient-centered asthma care requires, and what health care leaders can do to close that gap.Tonya also discusses: Why a definitive diagnosis of asthma isn't necessarily the norm. What the “three-legged stool” of asthma care looks like. Why patient-centricity is essential for chronic disease management. How new treatments like biologics are changing what's possible in asthma treatment. This podcast is a must-listen for anyone working to redesign care delivery and improve outcomes for patients with chronic respiratory illness.Key Quote:“We are finding in that moderate to severe category, when they are diagnosed accurately and get appropriate access to targeted treatments, about one in three go into a clinical remission, where they have no exacerbations, no symptoms, no hospital, no ER, no oral corticosteroids, no use of short acting bronchodilator. This is something that, I have to tell you, I never dreamt would come in my career. So, it's very exciting, especially for those that have had the opportunity to access these miracle drugs—that's the term they use, miracle drugs—that have changed their lives and given them the freedom to breathe.”Tonya WindersTime Stamps:(04:00) Diagnostic Delays: Spirometry and Systemic Barriers(05:44) How Age and Comorbidities Obscure Asthma(08:00)  Challenges of Misdiagnosis and Access to Specialists(10:28) The Three Legs of Effective Asthma Care(18:20) NCQA's Measurement Strategy for AsthmaLinks:NCQA White Paper: Improving Outcomes for People with AsthmaConnect with Tonya Winders

William Gell has brought us from Douglas Head to Derbyhaven and Castletown in his 1906 publication, Mannin Veg Veen, a poem in which he paid tribute to the Three Legs with his three-legged rhyming scheme. He's no sooner given a nod to Castle Rushen than he takes us back out to Langness.Although they're called Fairy Tales, the stories collected by Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm are sometimes odd, sometimes gruesome. Even when the stories have come to be known to us in milder forms which are often the basis of pantomimes, they often contain extra details or incidents which you probably wouldn't want to show any children in the audience.

He explains the three legs of the retirement system, which include social security, defined benefit pensions, and private savings. He emphasizes the importance of private savings, particularly through qualified retirement plans like IRAs. Kuderna delves into the tax concerns and future liabilities associated with IRAs, highlighting the need for careful planning. He explains the concept of required minimum distributions (RMDs) and the impact of the Secure Act on the stretch IRA strategy. Finally, Kuderna introduces the IRA maximization strategy, which involves leveraging life insurance to generate tax-free benefits. He discusses the benefits and considerations of this strategy for high net worth individuals.   Takeaways IRA maximization is a strategy that involves leveraging life insurance to generate tax-free benefits for high net worth individuals. The three legs of the retirement system in the US are social security, defined benefit pensions, and private savings. Tax concerns and future liabilities associated with IRAs should be carefully considered and planned for. Evan Fitzgerald brought all of the studio's equipment to his work after hours and did a two part series with his coworkers in the warehouse. On this episode we have Rob McGrath and Blue to discuss how they all started at the warehouse and what their specific jobs are. From building up a start up screen printing process to the silly items we distribute, we break down the entire business. Rob tells his story of proposing to his fiancé and how he won her heart by baking a pie. Blue talks about his background of growing up in Venice Beach California, his time as a SHARK, and how his rough experience as a child shaped him into a better and stronger person as an adult. Evan finds out that Rob is a low-key black belt in Karate and then Rob explains his love for back country skiing with his ski bum father. Blue and Evan bond over skateboarding and that transitions into a conversation about street art where Evan gets educated on the difference between "Street Art" and "Graffiti". Blue gives a very in-depth view of the rituals and rules for street art, and his experiences with famous artists with Obey and CBS (Can't Be Stopped). "All walls will fall, so let's decorate them" -Blue This Podcast is a unique look into the lives and the interworking of workings of a couple of random employees at a random warehouse in Denver. This is a small slice of and life and a perfect example of how cracking open some beers and shooting the shit with your coworkers can sometimes be the best bonding experience for a couple of people that happen to work together.
