It's time for a different type of diet.  If you want to release the unwanted weight of debt, stress, AND pounds then this podcast is a ‘must listen to.'  Here how today's guest helps women not only thrive but survive!   Guest: Having started life out in small town Ontario, Sonya Janisse was fired by the desire to see what life was like outside her community. Like many young people, was full of excitement at the prospects of following “The Dream” of landing a high-powered job, owning a big house, finding the perfect man and being a perfect mom. It is the same illusion that so many are led into thinking is a sign of success. After years of missed moments with family, feelings of just going through the motions and realizing the realities of the true struggles of balancing long, stressful work hours, children, personal relationships, and societal expectations, she began to take a long hard look at why working for “The Dream” was not making her life better or happier. She started to realize that “The Dream” was not really what she needed or wanted out of life. So, she bravely left those societal ideals behind in order to discover not only what she truly wanted from life, but also how she wanted to get there. However, it took a while, like any truly worthwhile puzzle, to put all the pieces into place. Now she makes it her passion to help others to truly look at their lives and to find the pieces they need to start to build their own picture of what it means to live their best life. Now, she loves what she does and who she has become. Sonya is in love with life and living it on her terms. Sonya wears many hats and has expanded her message and her bright spirit to find ways to help all who need it. She has returned to her small-town roots, but now she has the ability to reach out to the whole world. As a proud mom, doting grandmother, personal trainer, wellness coach, network salesperson, inspiring podcaster and published author, Sonya is living her best life and loving every minute of it!   Discussion Points/Time Stamps: Who is Sonya Janisse? 3:11 Reaching out to help 6:36 A mindset shift 8:35 The 21-day challenge 9:07 Vision Boards in Action 13:10 Your story matters 16:15 Coffee Cups 18:52 The retreat cottage 28:54 The emotional vision board 35:14 Fresh Approach Fitness 37:16 Take the Quiz 39:50 The book club 40:59 Design your life your way planner 45:07   Contact Information: Link Tree: Weight Loss Life Coach | Linktree Facebook: (12) Sonya Janisse | Facebook Instagram: fresh_approach_fitness Website: freshapproachfitness.ca YouTube Channel: (819) Sonya Janisse - YouTube Twitter: https://twitter.com/sonyashines Pinterest: https://www.pinterest.ca/janisse0954/_saved/ Email: Sonya@freshapproachfitness.ca WhatsApp: https://api.whatsapp.com/send?phone=12263770799 LinkedIn: https://linktr.ee/sonyajanisse Amazon: com: Sonya Janisse: Books, Biography, Blog, Audiobooks, Kindle Phone (text) 404-422-4921   Questions: Email: www.newhorizencoaching.com/contact  OR shillcplc@gmail.com   Tags:  #self-coaching #healthy lifestyle #health #healthjourney #mindsetshift #podcast #growyourvoice

Remember the days when you were little, and you wanted to do something?  You were either encouraged or discouraged right?  Fast forward to now.  How does that resonate with you?  Raising children comes with challenges and there is no one size fits all.  There is though, a way to empower children and adults so that they can have a meaningful life if we ‘let love win'.   Guest: Kathryn spent the first half of her work life working in clerical/admin (i.e. clerk, receptionist, administrative assistant…) and the second half, beginning in the early 1990's, working in the human services/support field as a residential counselor, lead residential counselor as well as a recreation leader and para educator. In 2008 Kathryn was injured at work. Two years later, she was rear-ended.  She went back to school, working to reinvent herself.  Her professor kept questioning her though because he felt that she already had the skills for her new self.  However, Kathryn didn't see it, nor paid any attention to the professor's comments.  Not until much, much later. This odyssey, which lasted 12 years, was full of physical struggles, trials and challenges.  Did you know that there is divine power in the number 12?  Kathryn didn't then either.  You see, she always had believed in the good that God could bring through everything when someone perseveres in Love and trusts Him with outcomes.  At that time, though, Kathryn just didn't connect the dots.  She was, in her words, too wrapped up in reinventing 'me'. One of the new discoveries in Kathryn's odyssey has been “coaching”. She began learning and training in 2018 (ten years later) at Western Seminary in a Coaching Program growing many positive progressive and transformative relationships. Then in 2020, during the pandemic, the many connections helped her discover writing...or maybe re-discover it.  You see, now Kathryn had had learned to bloom where she was planted and wants to share her journeys, the lows and the highs so that you too can grow and transform with a purpose.   Discussion Points/Time Stamps: Who is Kathryn Strong? 2:15 The 12-year journey 5:13 Finding her voice 11:36 EQ 17:15 Social Edge 23:53 A unique experience 25:14 Parent Workshops 28:07 Let Love Win 30:11   Resources: Social Edge: mysocialedge.com Website: https://bloompd.org   Questions:  Email: www.newhorizencoaching.com/contact

Did you know that many current and former incarcerated individuals struggle silently with a mental health issue?  Many aren’t even aware they have an issue and those that are aware, don’t seek treatment because of the stigma attached.  Psychological speaking though, the incarcerated individual is not the only one impacted.  Family and communities are also impacted.  Sheila Bruno gives voice to the voiceless and helps others seek to understand. Guest: Sheila Bruna is a Certified Reintegration Life Coach who gives a voice to the psychological impact of incarceration or Post Incarceration Syndrome. In 2014, after being apart for thirty-eight years, Shelia became reacquainted with her high school sweetheart, Kevin Bruno, who was incarcerated for twenty-eight of those thirty-eight years. Fifty-three days after their reunion, they were married. However, in 2016, Kevin became barely recognizable, both in character and in behavior. With each passing day his behavior worsened, leading Shelia to cry out to God, asking “What is happening to my husband?” Her kind, caring, loving, affectionate husband was now sliding in and out of depression, easily irritated by the least significant incidents. Shelia’s cry for help was heard by God, which led her to Google the question: Can a boy become a man in prison? Up popped two articles by Terry Gorski, The Psychological Impact of Incarceration and Post Incarceration Syndrome and Relapse. Desperate for support to help her resolve the psychological disorders that had crept into her marriage, Shelia looked for support groups that dealt with the after-effects of incarceration. To her dismay, there weren’t any, so she created one: The Wife After Prison Support Group. Shelia has reached over 30,000 people in her quest to raise awareness of Post Incarceration Syndrome. She has made it her mission to provide education about the devastating effects prison leaves on their loved ones. And, after a period of successful mental health treatment, Shelia and Kevin’s marriage is now more robust than it’s ever been. Shelia’s transparency and determination have encouraged others to break through the unrealistic expectations they may have for themselves and for their loved ones who are being released after serving prison sentences. Working in prison ministry programs and as a volunteer in several prisons throughout Texas has taught Shelia to see people who are made in the image of God and not as prison inmates. Shelia has built relationships with both currently incarcerated men and women and those who are about to be or have been recently released to help them successfully transition back into society. Guest: Who is Joshua Pelland?  Prior to his injury, Joshua was quite adventurous.  He was almost killed at the age of 16 when he made his first bribe while traveling and climbing through East Africa.  His eyes were truly opened as he witnessed the complexities of humanity and culture for the first time. Fast forward to find that Joshua has joined Britain’s elite Royal Marines Commandos and Special Operations Units where he encountered a wide variety of military operations and training. Leaving this life, Joshua delved into the private security sector working as an advisor for the Maritime companies at the height of the Somali piracy. Faced with dynamic challenges which he continually improvised, adapted to and overcame, he worked in Africa, the Middle East and Asia. Joshua still yearned for new adventures.  He found he had a passion for climbing pillars of ice, rock and mountains and that was just what he did until a fateful day in June of 2016.
