“If Visa, MasterCard, PayPal, and the big banks decided to gang up on Proton, they can still do the same thing to us today, right? So from that moment to today, I think I've always been the advocate of how can we get this powerful concept [Bitcoin] that enabled Proton to survive 10 years ago and make it more widespread and make it more common? Because I think the future of business, democracy, freedom, it really depends on this.”On this Bitcoin Talk episode of THE Bitcoin Podcast, Walker talks with Andy Yen, the CEO and Founder of Proton. Not only does Proton offer encrypted email, VPN, file storage, and a password manager, but they recently announced they're launching Proton Wallet, a self-custodial Bitcoin-only wallet, which is currently in beta but will soon be available to their 100 million users worldwide.ANDY'S LINKS:X: https://x.com/andyyen Proton Wallet: https://proton.me/wallet Proton: https://proton.me/*****THE Bitcoin Podcast Partners -- use promo code WALKER for...> bitbox.swiss/walker -- 5% off the Bitcoin-only Bitbox02 hardware wallet.> EFANI: Protect yourself from SIM swap attacks – go to https://www.efani.com/walker and it'll automatically apply the promo code WALKER getting you $99 OFF.> Cloaked Wireless: 25% OFF eSIM or physical SIM cards and protect yourself from SIM swap attacks.*****If you enjoy THE Bitcoin Podcast you can help support the show by doing the following:Subscribe to THE Bitcoin Podcast (and leave a review) on Fountain | Apple Podcasts | YouTube | Spotify | HIGHLIGHTER | EVERYWHERE ELSEFollow me (Walker) on Twitter Personal (@WalkerAmerica) | Twitter Podcast (@TitcoinPodcast) | Nostr Personal (walker) | Nostr Podcast (Titcoin)

SOCIAL SELLING CRM

Google and Facebook will swear up and down that they do not sell your data. While technically true, they do sell access to your data. Basically, your data is private from everyone - but them. And that's a crucial caveat. To have true privacy, you want to work with a company who has absolutely minimal access to your data. You want privacy by design. And this is not easy to do with a very old internet standard like email. Proton has been offering truly private email for almost a decade (ProtonMail) and over the years has added many other features like a VPN and calendar, making them a true privacy-respecting alternative to the likes of Google. Today I'll speak with Proton's founder and CEO, Dr. Andy Yen, about the importance of privacy as a human right and the delicate balance between privacy and the needs of law enforcement. I'll ask him how to evaluate products for privacy and what can we can all do to bring about a better future where we can express ourselves freely. Dr. Andy Yen is the founder and CEO of Proton. Totally agree. UX means so very very much to overall success these days. But many Linux geeks seem to have this puzzlingly locked-on focus on super low level things, quibbling a little too much about totally revamping major low-level subsystems that unfortunately only make things just a little bit better, at the end of the day. If they took that same attention to detail to the UX, they would make 10x the impact on the world, IMHO. jastombaugh says “@gabmus Absolutely perfectly worded!!! Thank you for posting this. Your point makes total sense, and I wish I had the power to point this out in so many other forums and on a host of podcasts. There is a huge need for Open Source UX designers. I just wish we had the ‘Designers Toolkit’ that could enable these people to ‘rearrange a programs ‘flowchart’ of operations’ or ‘grab an icon/window element’ and edit it. Obviously, I can’t begin to imagine what kind of a powerful program it would take to implement this. But if there was only some way that would enable OS UX Designers to apply ‘UX-Interfaces’ to applications in a similar way that themes can be applied to Desktop Environments. With growing threats against press freedom around the world, reporters are frequent targets for both public and private sector snooping. It is more important than ever to protect data, drafts, and sources from prying eyes. In this Update-1 podcast, Dr. Andy Yen, CEO and co-founder of ProtonMail, speaks with NPC Broadcast/Podcast team member Shannon Fisher about cybersecurity for journalists. From Virtual Private Networks (VPN) to self-destructing email, there are many options available to journalists who seek to protect their sources, communication, and work. These services and programs, many of which are free to use, make it virtually impossible for outsiders to hack into device storage and email accounts. They provide peace of mind to both journalists and their sources that sensitive discussions will remain private. In the era of mass surveillance, our communications are being hoovered up, searched and stored by both corporations and intelligence agencies, without a warrant and with almost zero transparency. While we should be fighting for our right to privacy, creating and amending laws is hard and can take years. Dr Andy Yen is the CEO of ProtonMail, a secure email service based in Switzerland. Today we discuss why it’s important for even regular, “uninteresting” people to use a truly secure and private email service. In the news this week, hundreds of top websites are tracking everything you do and Intel comes clean about a horrendous flaw in their secretive Management Engine that is part of every CPU they’ve made in the last 8 years. I’ll tell what you can do about it. Also, in the Tip of the Week, I’ll tell you about a new free service that can protect you from bad websites. Dr. Andy Yen is the CEO and Co-Founder of Protonmail. Andy has over 8 years of experience in distributed computing for demanding particle physics applications. Andy was a researcher at CERN from 2009 to 2015, where ProtonMail's founding team met. He has a PhD in Physics from Harvard and a degree in Economics from Caltech. And how to extricate yourself - logistically and emotionally. Plus, what happens when big companies like Verizon buy big companies like Yahoo. Because it happens a lot, and there are casualties besides your pride. With Brian Feldman, writer for New York Magazine, and Andy Yen, founder of ProtonMail. Maybe the best escape hatch is an encrypted folder in Switzerland.

Would you write banking information, passwords, private conversation or any sensitive data on the back of a postcard? Sounds like a silly question perhaps - but this is the equivalency of writing private information in your public emails. Your emails are NOT secure. Today I'm going to help you understand the options available to you so you don't get caught with your drawbridge down! I have an insightful discussion with Dr Andy Yen, the CEO and Co-Founder of Protonmail. We discuss why regular email is not very secure and how corporations like Yahoo, Google, and others have complete access to everything you send and receive. There are lots of better options out there and we discuss how to evaluate and choose a better service. We have lots of important news items this week including another Android hack that has infected at least 2 million phones, a raft of bugs in the latest Linksys home WiFi routers, a clever new ransomware attack that nests like Russian dolls, and finally a vigilante hacker that has written software that he dubs “Internet chemotherapy” that may completely take out your insecure devices. Dr. Andy Yen, CEO and Co-Founder of Protonmail has over 8 years of experience in distributed computing for demanding particle physics applications. Andy was a researcher at CERN from 2009 to 2015, where ProtonMail's founding team met. He has a PhD in Physics from Harvard and a degree in Economics from Caltech. http://www.s-ge.com/schweiz/export/de/blog/schweizer-it-sicherheit-fuer-die-vernetzte-welt-maerkte-und-chancen Schweizer IT-Unternehmen sind hervorragend positioniert im rasant wachsenden internationalen IT-Security-Markt – jetzt ist der richtige Zeitpunkt für den Schritt ins Ausland. Das zeigt die Geschichte von Andy Yen, CEO von ProtonMail. Treffen Sie ihn am Impulse: ICT am 15. November in Luzern!

Over the past couple of weeks I’ve been evaluating ProtonMail. This service is part of a new generation of tools (most inspired by Edward Snowden) developed with the aim of delivering robust encrypted communications and file sharing to the widest possible audience. Blogs of War readers know that I’m not an Edward Snowden fan, far […]
