Chuck Wright is an American bassist, songwriter, singer, music producer, and live event producer, best known as a long-time member of the multi-platinum Heavy Metal band Quiet Riot. He originally worked with Quiet Riot in 1982, playing bass on the tracks "Metal Health (Bang Your Head)" and "Don't Wanna Let You Go," as well as singing background vocals on all of the tracks from the 1983 multi-platinum album Metal Health. The album spawned the first-ever #1 Metal album on Billboards Hot 100 and changed the fabric of the music as it was known then. Wright's career in mainstream rock first took off when he joined Giuffria in 1984. Their debut album produced the hit single, "Call to the Heart" (Hot 100 #15) in 1985. After sold-out arena tours with Deep Purple and Foreigner, Wright left Giuffria to re-join Quiet Riot in 1986, to record and compose songs for their QRIII release and supporting world tour. His reputation as one of the most sought-after bass players has landed him working alongside music icons Alice Cooper, Slash, Gene Simmons, Gregg Allman, Carmine Appice, Ronnie Montrose, John Waite, and Pat Travers. Wright has appeared on over 100 worldwide record releases, playing bass and producing albums of various styles, including Ambient Trance, Reggae, Rap, Country, and of course Rock. He was also involved in seven film scores, including Kull the Conqueror, where he was joined by Guns N' Roses drummer Matt Sorum and the London Philharmonic Orchestra. Over the years, Wright also worked with House Of Lords, Bad Moon Rising, Blackthorne, Christian Tolle Project, Doro, Impellitteri, Kuni, MSG, Magdalen, Murderer's Row, Pata, Stephen Pearcy of Ratt, Adler's Appetite, Love/Hate, Ken Tamplin, and Shane Gibson from Korn and many others. Wright is the creator of Ultimate Jam Night, a long-running bi-monthly live music show established in January 2015 at the Whisky A Go-Go in West Hollywood. Ultimate Jam Night features up to 80 pro musicians each week. Wright also continues to perform live with Legends Of Classic Rock, as well as his Los Angeles eclectic local group Acoustic Saints. He is endorsed by Ampeg, Godin Guitars, S.I.T. Strings, CAD, and Sick Boy Motorcycles.

Label: Reprise 1339Year: 1975Condition: MLast Price: $15.00. Not currently available for sale. The single has a slightly different—and shorter—mix than the longer (3:38) LP cut. This was the tune that got the Fleetwood Mac hit machine rolling in the mid- to late-1970's. It's also perhaps my personal favorite cut from their first album in their revitalized configuration (with Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham added to the mix). Interesting to note that that album, simply called Fleetwood Mac, generated three Top 20 singles, but none that made the Top 10 in Billboard's Hot 100 chart: Over My Head (#20, released November 2005) Rhiannon (#11, released March 2006) Say You Love Me (#11, released July 2006) Note: This beautiful copy comes in a vintage Warner/Reprise Records factory sleeve. It has Mint labels and pristine sound.

In 1999, Shanice scored another hit song, "When I Close My Eyes," which peaked at number #11 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart. Midnight Star - Freak-A-Zoid A Solar Edit By Mr. Turner Free DL >> https://hypeddit.com/track/cnyvu0 The group was formed in 1976 at Kentucky State University by trumpeter Reggie Calloway, vocalist Belinda Lipscomb, guitarist/drummer/vocalist Melvin Gentry, bassist Kenneth Gant, multi-instrumentalist Bill Simmons, keyboard player/vocalist Bo Watson and guitarist/keyboardist Jeff Cooper, as a self-contained group. They later added non-KSU student trombonist Vincent Calloway (Reginald's younger brother). A 1978 New York City showcase inspired SOLAR Records chief Dick Griffey to sign the group. They released their debut album The Beginning (1980) with some guest studio musicians. In 1981 their second album, released on Solar Records, Standing Together, reached position #54 on the U.S. R&B chart. In 1982 they released a third album, Victory. Using elected band leader Reggie Calloway's production skills, Midnight Star hit the U.S. R&B chart with early singles "Hot Spot" and "I've Been Watching You". Drummer Bobby Lovelace joined the group in late 1982, freeing Gentry to sing and play guitar exclusively. Midnight Star's fourth album, No Parking on the Dance Floor, was released in 1983, and proved to be their breakout. Featuring a mix of R&B and funk with vocoder vocals, the album hit No. 2 on the Billboard magazine Top Black Albums chart[1] and No. 27 on the Billboard Top LPs & Tape[1] and it went double platinum in the U.S. Its first single, "Freak-A-Zoid", went to No. 2 on the U.S. Black Singles chart. The Washington Post's J. D. Considine argues that this song served to "establish [the] group's stylistic identity" and that it "put Midnight Star on the pop music map because it so perfectly combined the group's technopop tendencies with its R&B roots". Other singles from the album included "Wet My Whistle", and the title track. The album's three singles all charted on Billboard's Hot 100, Black Singles and dance charts.[1] and the album tracks "Slow Jam" (co-written by Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds) and "Electricity" received significant airplay. Their next album, Planetary Invasion, had the same "basic sound...from the chattering electronic pulse to Vincent Calloway's chatty vocoder" as the band's previous release and also went platinum. The first single, "Operator" made the pop Top 20 and the number one spot on the R&B chart; it remains the band's only Billboard Hot 100 Top 40 hit to date. In 1985, Kool & the Gang, Midnight Star, Shalamar and Klymaxx performed at the Marriott Convention Center in Oklahoma City. The band continued on to concerts in San Antonio and Little Rock. In 1986 the band released their sixth album, Headlines, which was their third album to sell at least gold. It was to be their last with the Calloway brothers. Due to irreconcilable differences with the other members, Reggie was out of the group and Vincent left shortly thereafter. They achieved their biggest success in the UK with "Midas Touch", which made #8, and "Headlines", a #16 hit earlier the same year.[5] Without the Calloways (who formed the group Calloway and release an album that spawned the 1990 hit single "I Wanna Be Rich"), Midnight Star recorded two more albums, the self-titled Midnight Star and Work It Out. These two albums proved not as successful as their previous three releases, but the singles "Don't Rock the Boat" and "Snake in the Grass" did reach the top ten on the R&B singles chart. The group went on a long hiatus, though they never officially broke up. The group reunited in 2000 with many of the original members (including all of the singers) and released the album 15th Avenue two years later. Since then, the group has toured sporadically, most recently with a lineup that includes Belinda Lipscomb, Kenneth Gant, Melvin Gentry, Bo Watson, and Bobby Lovelace, with Bill Simmons sometimes joining as well.
Herman's Hermits [00:30] "I Can Take or Leave Your Loving" MGM Records K 13885 Reached number 22 on the US charts. Bobby Darin [03:02] "Mack the Knife" ATCO Records 45-6147 1959 Bobby Darin's number one smash hit interpretation of the Berthold Brecht/Kurt Weill classic. The Fabulous Echoes [06:07] "Please Leave Her to Me" Liberty Records 55755 1964 Hong Kong garage rockers who would eventually become part of Don Ho's circle of musicians. Victor Lundberg [08:24] "Open Letter to My Teenage Son" Liberty Records 55996 1967 Phew... that may be the longest 4 minutes and 23 seconds of my life. Oh those rascally teenagers. This spent exactly 6 weeks on Billboard's Hot 100, peaking out at number 10. Vic Dana [14:05] "Lovey Kravezit" Dolton Records No. 317 1966 Definitely a new one by me. Evidently inspired by a character from the C-grade James Bond cash-in The Silencers featuring Dean Martin as Matt Helm. The character in question is portrayed by Beverly Adams, who also appeared in two other Matt Helm vehicles, as well as How to Stuff a Wild Bikini as the object of Eric Von Zipper's affections and the Bewitched episode "George the Warlock" as Dora "D. D." Danger O'Riley The Buckinghams [16:32] "Kind of a Drag" U.S.A. Records TM 1783 1966 A number one hit on the Hot 100 for this Chicago band. Wayne Fontana [18:37] "Pamela, Pamela" MGM Records K 13661 1966 So this is what Wayne gets up to without the Mindbenders. Who kissed whom in the woods? Dude, you're totally crossing pop culture references. Irma Thomas [20:48] "Some Things You Never Get Used To" Imperial Records 66095 1965 A mighty fine single from the Soul Queen of New Orleans. Somehow this Van McCoy single never gained any traction on the charts. However it did become a big hit on the Northern Soul scene. Ed Ames [25:01] "My Cup Runneth Over" RCA Victor 47-9002 1967 A number one hit on... the Adult Contemporary charts in 1967 from one of the Ames Brothers and frequent portrayer of Native Americans on television. Three Dog Night [27:45] "Joy to the World" Dunhill/ABC Records 45-4272 Three Dog Night bringin us their 1971 smash hit. Penned by Hoyt Axton, this easily made it to the number spot on the Hot 100. Jimmy Holiday [31:08] "Baby I Love You" Minit MIN 32002 1966 Some quality soul from who helped compose "Put a Little Love in Your Heart". This single reached number 98 on the Hot 100 and number 21 on the R&B charts. Brewer and Shipley [33:43] "One Toke Over the Line" Kama Sutra KA-516 1970 Yeah, somehow this one made it to number 10 on the Hot 100 despite Spiro Agnew's protestations. And produced by Occidental, California resident Nick Gravenites. The Osmonds [38:13] "One Bad Apple" MGM Records K 14193 1970 If this number one gold record sounds like The Jackson 5, well that's because it was written by papa George Jackson. Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels [41:02] "Devil with a Blue Dress On/Good Golly Miss Molly" New Voice Records 817 1967 This uptempo version of Shorty Long's "Devil..." reached number 4 on the hot 100, the most successful outing. King Harvest [44:19] "Dancing in the Moonlight" Percecption Records P 515 1972 Zut alors, a little number from a Paris-based band King Harvest. This made it up to number 13 on the Hot 100. The 5th Dimension [47:18] "Save the Country" Bell Records B 895 1970 The most succesful recording of this Laura Nyro tune, reaching as far as number 27 on the Hot 100. Music behind the DJ: "Mack the Knife" by Dick Hyman
On the first episode of Dart Against Humanity recorded in 2020, Dart discusses his research done for articles about 1985 & 1990, including how & why it took so long for the first Rap song to hit #1 on Billboard's Hot 100, MC Hammer's unique single roll out for his 1990 LP "Please Hammer Don't Hurt 'Em", how Bell Biv DeVoe's 1990 single & LP "Poison" changed the dynamic of the Pop charts plus the odd case of the ascent of Jane Child's "Don't Wanna Fall In Love" on the Hot 100 vs. Lisa Stansfield's "All Around The World" which was released as a single in North America in January 1990 but blew up on the Black music charts. Also, Dart discusses his initial findings regarding Run DMC's sophomore album "King Of Rock" which was released in January 1985. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app
The fifth studio album by the Eagles would become their biggest commercial success (not counting Greatest Hits (1971-1975), another monster album in its own right). Hotel California has been certified 26x platinum, and virtually every track was played on rock stations, not just the singles "New Kid in Town", "Life in the Fast Lane" and the title track, "Hotel California."This album was recorded after Bernie Leadon had left the group. This multi-instrumental founder was a strong country influence, and when he was replaced by rocker Joe Walsh the group took on a stronger rock orientation. “Hotel California” is a bit of a concept album with the word “Hotel” signifying the daily experience of the band members, and the word “California” taking on a mythological symbolism for the state, the United States, and/or the West. The songs speak of loss of innocence, corruption, illusion versus reality, and of course strained and broken relationships.Friend of the show, Steve Hardin joins us in this week's episode. We hope you enjoy this look at one of the most storied albums of the 70's. Try and Love AgainBassist and high tenor Randy Meisner wrote and sings lead on this track about starting over after a broken relationship. "right or wrong, what's done is done, it's only moments that we borrow. But the thoughts will linger on of the lady and her song when the sun comes up tomorrow." Meisner would be replaced by Timothy B. Schmit after this album.Wasted TimeDon Henley takes on lead duties for this break-up song. Drummer Henley would take lead singer duties for about half the songs on the album. "So you can get on with your search, baby, and I can get on with mine. And maybe someday we will find that it wasn't really wasted time."New Kid in TownGlen Frey takes the lead on this song, which was the first single from the album. Don Henley has the main harmony vocals, and would attrribute the song to the fleeting nature of fame, especially in the music business. The Last ResortHenley wrote and sings this epic protest song about finding Paradise in California, and destroying it. The group would have to re-record it a number of times because the studio they were using in Miami was adjacent to a studio Black Sabbath was using to record Technical Ecstasy, and the sound kept bleeding through the walls. ENTERTAINMENT TRACK:”Rocky (Gonna Fly Now)” from the motion picture "Rocky"Sylvester Stallone wrote and starred in the movie which would launch his career STAFF PICKS:“The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald” by Gordon LightfootRob's staff pick tells the story of a shipwreck in Lake Superior that occurred on November 10th 1975. Lightfoot was inspired by an article in Newsweek called "The Cruelest Month." The Edmund Fitzgerald was the largest ship on Lake Superior.“Fly Like an Eagle” by Steve Miller BandFriend of the show Steve Hardin brings us the intro and the song proper from Steve Miller Band. It rose to #2 on the charts, held back by Barbara Streisand's "Evergreen" from A Star Is Born. The band had been playing the song in concert since 1973, but it didn't make it to an album until now.“It's a Long Way There” by Little River BandWayne brings us the first hit in the United States by Australia's Little River Band. This would begin a string of hits from the band with a west coast feel and tight harmonies.“Beth” by KissBruce features an unusual ballad from the normally hard rocking Kiss. Ironically, this is the highest charting single by the group, hitting #7 on Billboard's Hot 100.LAUGH TRACK:"Disco Duck" by Rick DeesThis week's podcast finishes off on a fowl note.

PJ Harvey [00:22] a side: "The Letter" b side: "Bows and Arrows" Island Records IS 861 2004 The first single from her 2004 album "Uh Huh Her", and a fine selection at that. Simlar to her 4-track Demos release, she plays all albums except the final mix drums. And she was the engineer, mixer and producer. What's not to love? The Castaways [07:29] a side: "Liar, Liar" b side: "Sam" Soma Record Co. 1433 1965 Another classic Nugget. Falsetto raving from Minneapolis' own The Castaways. If you're curious, check out their appearance in "It's a Bikini World". I dig the b-side too! Gene Pitney [12:48] a side: "Liberty Vallance" b side: "Take It Like a Man" Musicor MU 1020 1962 Classic theme from a classic Western, though it doesn't appear in the film. If you're a fan of Westerns, I can highly recommend The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance (with all of its modern flaws). Written by Burt Bacharach and Hal David. The b-side is an interestingly titled number written by Lieber and Stoller. Dick & Dee Dee [18:08] a side: "Life's Just a Play" b side: "All I Want" Liberty Records 55478 1962 The a-side is a bit meh, but the b-side! Joe Walsh [22:01] a side: "Life's Been Good" b side: "Theme from Boat Weirdos" Asylum Records E-45493 1978 Ah yes, the rock and roll lifestyle. Reached all the way up to #12 on Billboard's Hot 100. Don’t you just love songs that keep you humming long after you’ve heard it? This song is like that for me. “Will You Still Love Me” was written by Gerry Goffin and Carole King, two of my favorite writers. The Shirelles originally recorded the song in the 60’s and took it to #1 on Billboards Hot 100 in 61. https://jacquelinejax.com/2011/11/13/will-you-still-love-me-tomorrow --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/jacquelinejax/message
The world's fastest bicyclist in the 1890's was Charles Minthorp Murphy and he was certain that there was no locomotive on Earth that could go faster than he could. To prove this, Murphy set a goal to ride one-mile in one-minute, a speed that few locomotives could achieve back then. It was the classic battle of man vs. machine. Luis Enrique and Mateo Gil are our guests on episode 51. Salsero Luis Enrique, who most people know for his global hit "Yo No Se Mañana" from 2009, has a new book out titled "Autobiografía". We discuss many topics from his difficult immigration experience in the US to meeting his mother for the first time at 15, but perhaps the most salient moments of the interview had to do him being discriminated by Latinos, "Yo No Se Mañana" almost being sung in English, should Latinos have their own award shows and how salsa can become #1 on Billboard's Hot 100. Then we chat with acclaimed Spanish screenwriter Mateo Gil (Vanilla Sky, The Sea Inside) who has directed a new sci-fi film called REALIVE which explores life and death and whether we turn to dust or if there is an actual thing as a soul.
This weeks news had lots of "record breaking" type of moments! As everyone knows, our President, Donald Trump has come out to blast the NFL and it's owners for peaceful protesting at the various games over the weekend. The crew discussed some of the activities with this and gave their perspectives on what's good with this situation. Also, congrats to stripper turned rapper, Cardi B, as she becomes the second female rapper to lead the Hot 100 without any other credited artists on the track. Lauryn Hill reached #1 with "Doo Wop (That Thing)" in November 1998. In similar news, congrats also goes out to rapper, Post Malone who's latest single debuted at #2 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart. "Rockstar" featuring 21 Savage hit the Top 5 thanks in part to a record-breaking streaming run on Apple Music. Post's single was streamed 25 million times on the service. That passed the previous one-week record set by DJ Khaled's "I’m The One” with Justin Bieber, Chance The Rapper, Lil Wayne, and Quavo. For the REAL Hip-Hop lovers, the Universal Hip-Hop Museum get an opening date and location. Slated for a 2022 completion, with Rap pioneer Kurtis Blow as the chairman, the organization will receive prime real estate in the Bronx Point section of the Bronx. The museum will offer patrons an experiential visit with music, artifacts, videos and photography and a stage for live performances. Both Microsoft and Google have agreed to contribute technology towards the guest experience. WE CAN'T WAIT FOR THIS TO OPEN! When NASA’s Langley Research Center built its newest, state-of-the-art research facility in Hampton, Va., it was only right that they named it after Katherine Johnson, the NASA engineer and subject of the book and Oscar-nominated film Hidden Figures. The $23 million, 37,000-square-foot data center is named after Johnson, who broke the glass ceiling for black women in the space program. In 2015 Johnson was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom for her work as a trailblazer in the space program - AWESOME! On the space front, rapper B.o.B. is launches a 'GoFund Me' for satellites to prove Earth is flat...go figure? Also, 'Empire' creator, Lee Daniels is in talks with iconic southern rap group, OutKast about a biopic. We're definitely here for this one! We also had a great segment topic, which is true in most cases in today's times. Is this new generation really open to OPEN relationships? Vote on our Twitter @illastr8_radio on what you think? On this episode, we talk J Balvin's 'Mi Gente'. Many people are already calling it the next 'Despacito' phenomenon for its potential to become #1 on the HOT 100. So... can it make it to #1? We also review Romeo Santos' new album 'Golden' with Isabela Raygoza, Rolling Stone Magazine’s Latina music critic, who also discusses with us her Q&A with Romeo and whether he can make Bachata mainstream in America. And, how is the Prince Royce tour going? I speak with singer and good friend, Cáthia, who is currently touring with him as his back-up singer, on an impromptu phone call where she tells me the inside details of her sexy solos she performs with Royce every night, how she got the gig and how she felt to sing in her front of her hometown NY at MSG. By any measure, mixtapes are always an exercise in nostalgia. In fact, whenever one of these milestone shows pop up and we start paddling the raft to Mixtape Island, we can't help but share stories about the time when we made a mix for someone, and all the ensuing nuances: the sequencing, those tracks that you'd since forgotten that stopped you cold in the moment, and lastly (but not unimportantly), how it went over. It’s probably best that we’re not eighteen forever. Evidence to that effect: the simple mixtape doesn’t quite cut it for us anymore. For this show, we each picked a track from the 70s, 80s, 90s and 2000s to get to know a little bit better, with curious results. If you think you know someone -- really know them – imagine what they’d add to a mixtape made especially for you. I guarantee the real thing will throw you curveballs. Here’s to our first 100 episodes. And eye openers we can't yet fathom - Round 1 - The 1970's Hall & Oates - ”She's Gone” So these dudes didn't want to do it like the record label suggested, so they got a couple recliners and a devil costume, smoked a bunch of weed...and we get this small miracle. -- Shane Gilbert O'Sullivan - ”Alone Again, Naturally” Bar none--the most depressing song ever recorded, Gilbert O'Sullivan's "Alone Again (Naturally)" nevertheless spent six weeks (non-consecutively!) at number one in Billboard's Hot 100 for the U.S. in 1972. Carried by a buoyant melody and just the most tragic lyrics ever committed to tape (seriously--check out the karaoke version online), this is truly a fascinating listen. Feel kinda bad that I didn't cede this one to Shane, as he has a bit of an obsession with this tune. --Ryan Elvis Costello - "Watching The Detectives" For a hot minute in the 70s all of London was agog over Reggae, and you can definitely hear some of that influence in Elvis Costello's "Watching The Detectives." Costello had yet to break, was living in a flat somewhere in London, and had been listening to The Clash for hours, which he initially hated, then grew to appreciate. And then, of course, he wrote "Watching The Detectives." The world is funny sometimes. --Kevin Boomtown Rats - ”I Don't Like Mondays” Although it only hit #73 in Billboard Hot 100 for 1979, “Mondays” found the number 1 spot in the UK, Ireland, and Australia that year. Proving once again that, as much as Americans like to claim their Irish heritage, unless it is green and can get them sloppy drunk they don’t really embrace things Irish. --Mark Round 2 - The 1980's The Beach Boys - ”Kokomo - Live” This piece of shit was a number one hit for The Beach Boys, after which, they promptly stopped giving any more shits. There is a video from the 80's, but I highly suggest you go looking for the footage shot on an I-phone at their 50th anniversary show. Bonus! Whichever one you choose will have John Stamos in it. -- Shane REM - ”Orange Crush” Knowing that we we had a mandate to find these songs on a list-of-100 whatever, I managed to track down REM's 1988 genius-level video for "Orange Crush" at #53 of 100 on Billboard's 25th Anniversary of their Alternative chart. Lushly directed by artist Matt Mahurin (whose work hangs in various impressive galleries), this video stands as a one of those rare works that one could just pause at any given point, print, and have an excellent addition to one's home decor. Assuming, of course, that one were looking to accent the furniture with Vietnam War-era imagery or children's antics. --Ryan Eddie Murphy - "Party All The Time" If you've ever wondered what the height of fame looks like, take a couple of minutes of your day to watch the fawning mob hanging around the control room for Eddie Murphy's "Party All The Time" release. Rick James, who wrote the song, spends lots of time slowly pushing up the console volume (not sure how that helps, exactly) and the rest of the folks in the studio look equally eager to please and nervous that someone might find out that they're not supposed to be in there. Lots of head bobbing. --Kevin Laid Back - ”White Horse” The take-away for me from Laid Back’s “White Horse” is that there are really only two things you need to know: 1. The prerequisite for being rich is being a bitch; 2. When making the choice of achromatic equine transportation, the smaller stature of the pony is preferred. --Mark Round 3 - The 1990's Meatloaf - ”I Would Do Anything For Love (But I Won't Do That)” Michael Bay. Beauty and the Beast. -- Shane Aqua - ”Barbie Girl” Earning the distinction of #8 on Everyhit.com's "Worst Songs of All Time," "Barbie Girl" (1997) by Denmark's Aqua somehow managed to beat out Billy Ray Cyrus's "Achy-Breaky Heart" by one slot, and that's some rarefied company. More inexplicably, this band sold 33 million records. Also, they were sued by Mattel (for obvious reasons), and the video is really stupid. You are welcome. --Ryan Bel Biv Devoe - ”Poison” The New Jack Swing movement occupies that tiny blip on the historical horizon after hair metal's last drummer had finished playing in the rain and before the world became awash in flannels, earnestness, and Grunge. This leaves New Jack perhaps feeling a little like a stopgap movement, but one not without its triumphs, chief among them Bell Biv Devoe's "Poison.” Listen for the dope beat. Watch the video for the outfits. Is there a blizzard about to happen in the inner city? --Kevin The Bloodhound Gang - ”The Bad Touch” Anytime my faith in humanity is on the up and up, I only need to turn to these sexist, racist ass-hats to be reminded not to take human-decency for granted. Luckily, this song never topped #52 of the Hot 100, but just the fact that it made it north of 100 gives me pause. --Mark* Final Round - 2000's Kanye West - ”Touch The Sky” You can watch Kanye West in an amazing red white and blue jumpsuit try to jump a rocket over a canyon. Will he make it? -- Shane LCD Soundsystem - ”Daft Punk Is Playing At My House” Because Rolling Stone magazine had to make an appearance here eventually, the 'aughts list "100 Best Songs of the 2000's" (#78) has yielded us "Daft Punk is Playing at My House," which I love dearly, and Shane hates with equal zeal. I am incapable of not (at the very least) head-bobbing and singing along to this tune, even if at least one of my colleagues just doesn't get it. C'est la vie... --Ryan Midlake - ”Roscoe” Mark noted that it would have been nice to wrap up this show's proceedings with a listen of Midlake's "Roscoe.” That's not what happened, but that didn't keep us from soaking up the sunny vibes and yearning intent from Midlake's second release. For whatever reason, this track seems to bubble up with indie types every so often to reignite conversation. Easy to see why it pops up on top 100 lists of the 2000s. --Kevin The Avalanches - ”Frontier Psychiatrist” Sure… I wasn’t super confident in my ability to wrap the show with something the entire gang could latch onto. However, this video just does something to you when you watch it. Seemingly appearing out of a horrible Bavarian acid trip gone south, Australian group The Avalanches pantomime an amazing composition of samples from Canadian comedy duo Wayne and Shuster and a host of 60’s and 70’s music. In the end, we all walked away with smiles on our faces. --Mark Next Time… Our good friend Matt Muñoz is back and this time he takes over the show. Join us for both kinds of depressing songs from The Smiths' Louder Than Bombs.

Born in Pasadena, California, in 1954, Kenny grew up in a music-filled household. His early affinity to music is a reflection of his Native American roots. His bloodlines come directly from two Indian Nations, the Mohawk and the Cherokee. Kenny Lee Lewis is credited as one of the songwriters who gave Steve Miller "personality". Yet, as many Native people do, he chose to stay in the background helping other artists to shine by composing for them. His "Cool Magic" on the Steve Miller Band's Abracadabra album reached Billboard's Hot 100 chart. And, his co-produced "Shangri-La" on Italian X-Rays was described as "the LP's standout track". Kenny’s "Midnight Train" was featured on The Steve Miller Band's 1993 WideRiver album. Always proud of his Native roots, Kenny Lee Lewis - the Rockin’ Mohawk, is showing America that Indian artists have talent and longevity in many musical genres. He is currently a member of the Native American Music Association. It is the world’s leading membership-based association consisting of music industry professionals directly involved in the recording and distribution of traditional and contemporary Native American Music initiatives. In addition to music, Kenny chooses to volunteer his time and talent to the cause of helping Native children who live with a disability. He serves as an Ambassador for a program that teaches Native parents to advocate for their children with school systems. He believes that it his duty to give back by serving the most vulnerable people in Native society.
