They dig into Vitalik's L2 pivot and what it signals about Ethereum's next era, unpack massive institutional paper losses at Strategy, BitMine, and Galaxy, and analyze Polymarket odds on where Bitcoin goes next. We are excited to welcome Joe Davis for this episode, currently Vanguard's Global Chief Economist and Global Head of the Investment Strategy Group. Many of you likely know various iterations of the Vanguard story, but most of the professionals I know do not know how big a research team they have. Joe has a big influence on the company because he is also chairs the firm's Strategic Asset Allocation Committee. Ok, that was exhausting listing all of his titles, he is a busy person. Before that, he was still busy; he earned his M.A. and Ph.D at Duke University and is a graduate of the Advanced Management Program at the Wharton School of U Penn. Joe is a frequent keynote speaker and currently serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of Portfolio Management and the Journal of Fixed Income. In this episode, we are all over the place (which is normal), ranging from Vanguard's 50+ year history as a disruptor, to how many CFA charter holders are at Vanguard now (hint: a lot), their vast and under the radar research group, new CEO Salim Ramji, patents that Vanguard created in ETF space, the breakdown of active vs. passive funds in their lineup (which surprises many) and Joe's new book on AI. This was a great segue into the markets, with the impact of AI, Fed independence being potentially disrupted, a new multi-polar world, expected returns, potential market scenarios, and more. Today's hosts are Steve Curley, CFA (Co-Managing Principal, 55 North Private Wealth) & co-host Chris Cannon, CFA (CIO/Principal, FirsTrust). Please enjoy the episode. Markets have been chaotic over the past few sessions, so we pivot to a mostly-news episode to unpack what’s really driving the volatility. We start with “SaaSmageddon” — the sharp selloff across software stocks following rapid advances in AI, including Claude’s new capabilities. We discuss why investors are suddenly questioning data-driven moats, seat-based subscription models, and whether traditional SaaS businesses can defend their margins in a world where AI agents can replace large portions of knowledge work. From there, we connect the dots to private credit and private equity. With software making up a major portion of many private portfolios, we explore the growing risks around payment-in-kind lending, potential default cycles, and why business development companies (BDCs) could be the next pressure point if AI disruption accelerates. We also cover the historic gold and silver flush — a classic leveraged shakeout driven by forced liquidations, stop-loss cascades, and thin liquidity — and why ETF volumes exploded during the move. Finally, we touch on broader market weakness, AMD’s earnings reaction, and how Bitcoin continues to trade like a high-beta risk asset. Tickers of Stocks Discussed: TRI.TO, ADBE, CRM, SHOP.TO, SPGI, MCO, ARCC, OWL, OBDC, BXSL, MAIN, FSK, SLV, GLD, SPY, AMD Watch the full video on Our New Youtube Channel! Bitcoin may be deeper into a crypto winter than headlines suggest, according to Matt Hougan, who argues the downturn has been quietly masked by institutional flows and ETF demand. In this discussion, we unpack how weakening retail participation, struggling altcoins, and collapsing crypto equities reveal underlying stress that Bitcoin's price alone doesn't show. Hougan's key takeaway is contrarian: if this has been a hidden winter all along, the market may be closer to exhaustion than collapse, setting the stage for stabilization or reversal as excess leverage clears and weaker participants exit the system.

Bitcoin didn't just survive the last cycle — it was reshaped by it. In this conversation, we break down how ETFs, regulation, politics, and institutional money are quietly transforming Bitcoin into a tool of power, not just a hedge or a trade. From why Bitcoin yield keeps failing, to why treasury companies and “safe” returns may be setting the stage for the next crisis, to how political polarization could become crypto's biggest threat, this interview cuts through the narratives and exposes what's actually happening beneath the surface. If you want to understand the real risks facing Bitcoin in the post-ETF era — before everyone else does — this is one you don't skip.

Nikola potpuno iskreno i otvoreno govori o mračnoj strani prevelike posvećenosti poslu - suočavanju sa teškim oblikom „burnout-a“, anksioznošću i napadima panike. Kroz ličnu priču, on objašnjava kako je uz pomoć terapije naučio da razdvoji svoj identitet od svog rada i pronađe zdrav balans između karijere, porodice i hobija. In this Friday Q&A episode, Don answers listener questions on handling backdoor Roth conversions with investment gains, whether Avantis or Vanguard makes more sense for bond investing, and why 529 plans have become even more attractive with new Roth rollover rules. He also tackles a puzzling report of inflated ETF pricing on Vanguard's platform, urging further investigation, and reassures a listener concerned about AVGE's diversification compared to VT. Along the way, Don emphasizes the importance of low fees in fixed income, the long-term logic behind factor investing, and the reality that taking additional risk is what creates the potential for higher returns. 0:04 Friday Q&A intro and plea for more listener questions 1:44 Backdoor Roth with gains—how to handle taxable growth 6:01 Avantis vs. Vanguard for bond funds and why fees matter more in fixed income 8:00 Using 529 plans for kids and new Roth rollover rules 11:19 Odd ETF pricing on Vanguard and why it makes no sense 13:38 AVGE vs. VT diversification concerns and factor investing explained 18:24 Risk, factor tilts, and long-term expectations Learn more about your ad choices. See what gold and silver highs mean and how to plan retirement spending without the 80% rule. Is gold's record run a sign you should buy? Do you really need 80% of your income in retirement? Hosts Sean Pyles and Elizabeth Ayoola discuss retirement income rules of thumb to help you understand how to estimate what you might spend after you stop working. But first, senior news writer Anna Helhoski joins Sean and Elizabeth to break down the precious-metals rally with investing writer Sam Taube. They discuss why investors treat gold and silver as “safe havens,” how a weakening U.S. dollar and tariff-driven uncertainty can move prices, and what to consider if you're deciding between physical metals and gold ETFs. Then, James Bashall, COO and advisor for NerdWallet Wealth Partners, joins Sean and Elizabeth to discuss how to plan for retirement without blindly relying on the 80% rule. They discuss where the 80% benchmark came from, how other shortcuts like the 4% rule and the “rule of $1,000” can shape your thinking, and why running multiple spending scenarios (including a “spending smile”) can help you balance travel, inflation, and health care costs over time. Today, active ETFs now outnumber passive funds among US-listed exchange-traded products for the first time.Scott Davis, Head of ETFs at Capital Group, joins us on this episode of ETF Innovators to discuss how the firm integrates over 90 years of investment expertise into modern ETF structures.
David Dziekanski of Quantify Funds discusses his firm's recent ETF launches, including one that allows access to cryptocurrencies other than Bitcoin. Another is a Bitcoin and gold ETF, BTGD. He stresses the tax efficiency and ease of trading for ETFs. He discusses the “4-year cycle” of Bitcoin and how it is affecting who is interested in buying crypto. David believes crypto and gold are both good plays as the U.S. continues to let its currency weaken. ======== Schwab Network ========Empowering every investor and trader, every market day.Options involve risks and are not suitable for all investors.

ETF.com's Dave Nadig is back on Boxes and Lines for our annual check-in on what's going to actually matters in markets for the year ahead, even if we never quite get to a formal list of “predictions.” Instead, Ronan and JR talk with Dave about what the last year revealed: record ETF flows and launches, what feels like a wild-west phase of financial innovation, rising speculation, and the blurring line between active and passive investing. They also explore tokenization, regulation, and why ETF plumbing may be sturdier than many critics assume. Social posts:

How to Trade Stocks and Options Podcast by 10minutestocktrader.com
Are you looking to save time, make money, and start winning with less risk? Then head to https://www.ovtlyr.com.If you have ever looked at a stock after earnings and said, what just happened, you are not alone. This video exists because moments like that are exactly how accounts get wrecked when people do the wrong thing at the wrong time.Let's be blunt. Earnings are a gamble. Healthcare stocks are a gamble. Combine the two and you are basically daring the market to humble you. This session breaks down a real example where a stock dropped hard, fast, and without mercy, and why that single move is enough to justify never touching earnings trades again. The tricky part is that earnings lure you in first. The stock looks strong. The chart looks clean. Maybe it even runs up nicely beforehand. That's how people convince themselves they are being “smart.” Then the report hits and logic disappears. Strength stops mattering. Charts stop mattering. Your plan stops mattering. The market decides, and you deal with the consequences. This video walks through exactly how to think about that in real time. When to stay aggressive. When to sit in cash. When to flip defensive. No hype. No guessing. Just reacting to what the market is actually doing instead of what you want it to do.You also get a front-row seat to how trades are executed live. Position sizing. Cash management. ETFs used defensively instead of swinging for home runs. Even broker issues show up, because that is real life trading. It is messy, frustrating, and very different from fantasy screenshots on social media. Here are some of the big lessons that come through loud and clear:✅ Why earnings can erase weeks of progress in one day✅ Why healthcare stocks carry surprise risks you cannot plan for✅ Why buying strength beats guessing bottoms✅ How defensive ETF trades fit into a bigger plan✅ Why rules keep you calm when everything feels chaoticOne of the most important takeaways is this: cash is a position. Sitting out is not being scared. It is being disciplined. When conditions are not right, forcing trades is how people blow themselves up. When conditions line up, execution becomes boring, and boring is where consistency lives. This approach is not flashy. It is not designed to impress Reddit. It is built to survive real markets with real money on the line. Every trade shown has a reason. Every plan has rules. Every decision is documented. If you are tired of getting blindsided by earnings, chasing moves that already happened, or feeling like the market is out to get you, this video will change how you think. Bitcoin stumbles through another Sunday-night slide as gold rips to historic highs, pulling attention and liquidity away from crypto and fueling talk of a speculative metals mania layered on top of genuine macro fear. This episode digs into why gold's breakout is happening now, how ETF outflows, loss realization, and shaken conviction are weighing on Bitcoin, and why the growing contrast between physical metal liquidity and Bitcoin's always-on exit may ultimately reinforce the long-term thesis even as short-term sentiment stays ugly.

In this listener-driven episode, Don, Tom, and advisor Roxy Butner tackle a wide range of investing questions, starting with the explosive growth of ETFs and why many new funds—especially active, leveraged, and thematic products—may be risky for long-term investors. They discuss whether and how to exit expensive inherited mutual funds, how to use low-income years for tax planning, and why capital gains can still trigger taxes even in sabbatical years. The team reviews a complex multi-fund portfolio, explains the pros and cons of adding growth tilts, and dives into behavioral finance—offering practical ways to resist over-tinkering. They close with guidance for investing inherited money later in life, emphasizing purpose, risk tolerance, and family planning, and preview the upcoming RetireMeet event. 0:04 Intro, listener questions, and why “ETF” is not “EFT” 0:27 ETF growth in 2025 and the rise of active and leveraged funds 1:31 Why most new ETFs worry Tom (active, leverage, speculation) 2:04 Choosing the right ETF: costs, indexing, and long-term focus 3:16 Roxy joins and the listener Q&A begins 3:54 Inherited AIVSX: taxes, donating shares, and switching to ETFs 7:04 Why traditional mutual funds are tax-inefficient 8:14 Sabbatical year strategy and capital gains misconceptions 10:39 When to involve a tax professional 11:31 Portfolio mix: VOO, Avantis, international, and value tilts 12:17 Why adding VUG may increase risk 14:57 Asset location challenges and rebalancing problems 15:22 Behavioral finance: resisting the urge to tinker 19:21 How often to check your portfolio 20:10 Discipline, rules, and systematic investing 21:11 Inherited $300K at age 79: purpose and next-generation planning 23:40 Building a taxable portfolio for heirs 24:40 RetireMeet preview and featured speakers Learn more about your ad choices. A chaotic but revealing game-show-style opening leads into a sharp lesson on why market trivia doesn't matter nearly as much as discipline. Tom and Don walk through eye-opening 2025 market stats, including the real impact of the Magnificent Seven, international stocks' outperformance, and a surprising Bitcoin result, before pivoting to listener calls on risk aversion in retirement, tax drag in fixed income, ETF vs. mutual fund structure, pensions as “bond substitutes,” and the fear of poorly timed rollovers. The episode reinforces a consistent theme: markets anticipate, investors overthink, and long-term success comes from diversification, cost control, and building portfolios around real human behavior—not headlines. 0:04 Cold open and chaotic “What Do You Know?” game show setup 1:58 S&P 500 return vs. performance without the Magnificent Seven 5:16 Magnificent Seven's staggering 10-year return 5:48 International stocks outperform U.S. stocks in 2025 7:35 Retired caller weighs SGOV vs. VTEB and tax efficiency 10:01 Risk aversion, inflation fears, and when bonds actually belong 13:11 CD ladders as a stability alternative to bond funds 14:27 Clean energy ETFs rise despite negative policy headlines 16:41 Colombia emerges as best-performing global stock market 18:02 Bitcoin's surprising full-year decline in 2025 19:02 Why none of this market trivia actually matters 20:28 ETFs vs. mutual funds explained simply and clearly 24:44 Why fund companies resist ETF conversions 27:13 Pension income vs. bonds in portfolio construction 31:20 AI voice experiment and margin rate reality check 32:02 Fear of rolling over 401(k)s and “hodgepodge-itis” Learn more about your ad choices.
