The future of tenant communication is video. Face time, snaps, zoom, google meet, and a host of other options have grown this tech in person to person communication, but we haven't seen it hit its stride in the self storage space... that is until Live Switch decided to enter our industry. It's not often we're blown away by a new piece of tech that enters the self storage space, but today is an exception. James Hatfield joins us to talk about the origins of Liveswitch, how it's already working with major organizations (Adobe, NFL, Department of Defense, etc.), and how it's changing the way we talk with our tenant and co-workers in self storage. And the best part of it all is the simplicity with which anyone can use this tech. Plus, we dive into some of the charitable work connected to Liveswitch (linked below) and think about the future of how this tech will impact self storage. *Live Switch is not a sponsor of this episode Guest: James Hatfield, CRO of Live Switch Charitable Organization from the episode: Inmates to Entrepreneurs Hosts: Josh Huff & Melissa Huff
much the way no one need fear my using the bully pulpit of this program in order to settle scores (real or imagined or to exact revenge from my (fr)enemies, I am 110% certain there is no chance whatsoever Metallica will use their new ownership of a large record pressing facility in order to silence their many detractors (and/or impact the turnaround time of said naysayers' projects). And irrespective of all that, let me state categorically that a) Lars Ulrich is without question one of the more inventive drummers of all time, b) ‘Lulu' was vastly underrated c) they totally carried Lady Gaga at the 2017 Grammies d) social media would be far more exciting if we had a steady flow of pictures showing James Hatfield killing wildlife. Due to time constraints, I was not able to address these topics on this week because it would really take 6 or 7 hours.
Late last year, headlines were made when it was announced that a collaboration between Jonathan Drew of Drew Estate, Metallica's James Hatfield, and Blackened Whiskey's Rob Dietrich was happening. That collaboration would be the Blackened M81 cigar. Tonight we talk to one of the principals in this project, Rob Dietrich. Rob is the Master Distiller and Blender and Blackened Whiskey. We'll learn about his story, his journey in the whiskey business, and what it was like to participate in the M81 project. In addition, we will have our Cattle Baron Steak Question of the Day, Alec Bradley Live True, Tabacalera USA, and Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust Deliberation Segment.

Think about every successful band there is in existence: Metallica, Megadeth, and the Eagles to name a few. The thing they all have in common is they had hit songs. Some of them more than others. In an interview with Bob Seger and James Hatfield of Metallica, they were discussing in order to get a hit song, you have to keep writing. It's the old adage, "practice makes perfect." In this episode, I'll discuss how if you're going to be good at anything, you have to consistently focus and practice the one thing you want to be good at. If it's to write a number one song, or best-selling book, write more. The same applies to everything else in life. Rinse and repeat until complete. (To a successful outcome) #RiseAbove HOW TO GET INVOLVED: This planet is based on an algorithm and with every positive action, there is an adverse reaction. Ryan Stewman rose and overcame a life of addiction, imprisonment, divorce, and circumstances that would break the spirit of the average human being. He went on to create a powerful network of winners and champions in life and business creating a movement quickly changing lives one day at a time. This is a Zoom/Audio interview. Your choice. Colin Cripps is one of those musicians/artists who may never receive the full spotlight the lead singers get but if you ask that artist in the spotlight, they’ll tell you they wouldn’t be in the studio or out on stage if Colin wasn’t there with them step for step. In other words, invaluable. Currently, he’s a member of Blue Rodeo and The Jim Cuddy Band. He’s played with and produced Crash Vegas and Junkhouse. Produced and written with ex-wife Kathleen Edwards, Tom Wilson, Colin James, Headstones, Sarah McLachlan, Bryan Adams. Many many more credits can be found online. Speaking of online, Colin is a Guitar Geek and he lives in a World where other guitar geeks compare notes on guitars and gear. They all speak another language ..about tone and bridges and strings and colors. They go crazy for colors. Colin has some 40-50 guitars. Each brings something different to music. Colin takes us through the differences and who played what on which records. Jeff Beck. Eric Clapton. Keith Richards. The Beatles. Elvis Costello. Metallica. Jimmy Page. Hank Marvin. Mark Knopfler. Cliff Gallop. It’s time to Geek OUT !! Colin talks about and shows/plays these guitars 1955 Fender Telecaster in Sunburst (Keith Richards. Jimmy Page) 1963 Fender Stratocaster in Fiesta Red (Hank Marvin. Jimi. News broke that Metallica had to cancel their appearance at Louder Than Life because lead singer, James Hatfield, needs to work on his health. Then we checked the Facebook Comments...
When is enough, enough? How many times can you go to the Great Wall of China or to Wrigley Field in one lifetime? How much dirty filthy shit can a country tolerate from their president? How much time away can the wife of a comedian put up with? These any many other big questions are presented as I ponder the cross roads I am at in my life now. Shall I continue traveling the world at the detriment of what it is doing to my marriage? Shall I give up smoking weed and be 100% sober since the weed I fell in love with no longer exists? I say it often but, every warrior eventually needs to move on to wise man. Certain things I will never stop doing, like performing stand up comedy. Making jokes against bullies and totalitarian psychopath presidents is my biological function in life. Dehumanizing anyone ever by a thought from my brain is never my intention. Snowflakes need to stay flakey together. I am away from home far from the one true love of my life. I need a friend. James Hatfield thinks I'm funny. Everyone is beautiful when they laugh. I've seen more teeth than a dentist. I'm off to Wrigley Field to rejoice in something I will never get tired of and that is watching the Cubs play at home while thinking of John Dillinger and Eddie Vedder. * Become our patron and receive podcast goodies! www.patreon.com/tomrhodesradiosmartcamp * Sign up for a conversation with Tom! www.patreon.com/tomrhodesradiosmartcamp * Buy my newest double album All Hail Laughter www.tomrhodes.net

Arguably Metallica's best producer. I mean, he did record Lightning, Puppets & Justice! Fleming Rasmussen is no stranger to the world of Metallica. It's one of Metallica's best looking and sounding concert films, it got good reviews and somehow tanked at the box office. Through The Never wasn't a smash for the band but this is up there in quality and should not be skipped over. Despite some cheesy moments (Robert & the wall of CGI bass amps), we back this film and sit down to run through it, chronologically. The ups, the downs and in between. I talk with Dan Crask, from Brand Shepherd today. When Dan started up their business they took on a client who they should’ve said, “No!” They were new in business. They wanted to build something amazing for this company because the company had potential influence for referrals. So they took the job. And it lost money, time, and energy. Dan and I talk about this struggle and how a company should approach branding, among other things. Here’s what Dan and I discuss in this episode: Why Dan now prefers working with tangible product producers. How they bootstrapped their business and built on their successes. How being a “generalist” kept him from progressing in ways he wanted. How he made his mistakes with the country club and worked to impress their board of directors. How he recovered from this setback. Why he said he should’ve declined the project when he first met with the client. How to do your homework before taking on a project. How he was able to still get referral business despite the crash and burn. How Dan pivoted Brand Shepherd from this experience, and why that’s important to you and your business. Why Dan believes his reputation is critical. Why you want to have physical objects to leave with clients to remain top-of-mind. How presidential election years have effected their business. How they found the sweet spot in their market, and how you can do the same. How major brands are always making small changes to keep their products fresh, and new looking, to the market. What branding means to Dan (hint, it’s not just your logo and it involves making sales). Why your story is crucial. How to structure your story to appeal to your ideal clients. Why he said James Hatfield, from Metallica, is a legend of our time. Enjoy the show: FtL 36: Why It's Okay To Turn Away Business With Dan Crask
