Because the She-Hulk Disney+ series is set to release soon, we thought it would be fun to do a little pregame reading and talking about the character and her comics. Between the two of us, we've read a variety of She-Hulk comics in our lifetimes, and several specifically for this podcast. The comics discussed in this episode include her very first appearance by Stan Lee and John Buscema, early issues of the John Byrne run, part of the Dan Slott run, the first part of the Charles Soule and Javier Pulido run, the entire Mariko Tamaki run, and Jason Aaron's World War She-Hulk storyarc from his Avengers run. As you can see, it's a veritable smorgasbord of She-Hulk comics. Most of these comics didn't feel like they warranted the depth of discussion and analysis that we often like to engage in on our podcast, but we also talk about the concept of the character, and what works and doesn't work. If you have any favorite She-Hulk comics, feel free to let us know in the comments, or shoot us a message! We also have a Linktree with just about all our relevant (and some irrelevant) links: https://linktr.ee/betweenthegutters
Episode 94Greetings, Explorers! It's the final episode of our sixth season! We're closing it out with She-Hulk: Law and Disorder. Marvel published the book in 2014. Charles Soule wrote the story, with art by Javier Pulido and Ron Wimberly. Colors by Munsta Vicente, Rico Renzi, and Ron Wimberly. Lettering by VC's Clayton Cowles.She-Hulk: Law and Disorder finds Jennifer Walters, otherwise known as She-Hulk, starting her own law firm. Her first case involves representing a widow of a villain who claims Tony Stark stole her dead husband's invention. Next, she helps Doctor Doom's son seek refugee status in the U.S. However, Doctor Doom isn't too happy and will go to great lengths to stop them both. Finally, She-Hulk finds herself and several other superheroes and supervillains as a defendants in a lawsuit. The odd thing is, none of them remembers even meeting the plaintive or the incident mentioned in the case.Johnny and Dennis (Aubrey was training in the Danger Room when we recorded) kicks things off by diving into the contrasting, but beautiful, art of Javier Pulido and Ron Wimberly. Next, they ponder if the character design of Princess Fiona had any influence on this version of She-Hulk. Finally, they look at just how you get promotions if you're the minion of a supervillain. Additional topics include Daredevil not caring about his secret identity; being revived by monkey vomit; and not pulling the lawyer card. Last of all, but not certainly not least, they look at the storytelling and art of She-Hulk: Law and Disorder. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

This episode covers "Hawkeye" by Matt Fraction and David Aja. It's part one of two, and is equivalent to either the trade paperbacks "Hawkeye: My Life Is a Weapon" and "Hawkeye: Little Hits," or else the first half of "Hawkeye: The Saga of Barton and Bishop." It's also by Matt Hollingsworth, Javier Pulido, Francesco Francavilla, Steve Lieber, Alan Davis, and Jesse Hamm. Confused yet? So are we. Honestly JD, Jeff, and Jam are going to spend the first half of this episode airing our grievances about the completely opaque way that Marvel collects its trades. But eventually we get to talk about this really interesting book, how it does a lot of interesting things with the superhero genre and with these characters in particular, and how even in the golden age of graphic novels, there are “mainstream” trades worth waiting for. Also, apologies to Francesco Francavilla and Javier Pulido, we had you completely mixed up for like… most of this episode. Music by Sleuth Our next episode will be on the second half of "Hawkeye: The Saga of Barton and Bishop," or the trades "Hawkeye: L.A. Woman" and "Hawkeye: Rio Bravo," by Matt Fraction and David Aja.

In today's episode, we cover issues 4 & 5 of Matt Fraction's Hawkeye, where a very important VHS tape has been leaked. Clint has to head to Madripoor to re-acquire it. With the Disney Plus series coming soon, we thought it was a perfect time to dig into a story about the best archer(s) in the Marvel Universe. (At least, as far as I know). This story written by Matt Fraction (who we covered previously on the show with his Iron Man run) covers what goes on in Clint Barton's life when he's not doing Avenger things, and it is awesome! So snatch up a copy, digital or print, and read along! We think you're really gonna like it.
Your heroes nock their arrows to read the iconic "Hawkeye" comic book run by Matt Fraction and David Aja."Clint Barton... continues his fight for justice...and good rooftop BBQs! With Young Avenger Kate Bishop by his side, he's out to get some downtime from being one of Earth's Mightiest Heroes...but when the apartment building he's moved into, and the neighbors he's befriended, are threatened by a tracksuit-wearing, dog-abusing gang of Eastern European mobsters who say "bro" an awful lot, Clint must stand up and defend his new adopted family...any way he can."Tune in for the bare bones, who this comic is for, and listen as we judge the book by its cover. We'll be reading Hawkeye issues #01-22.Hawkeye is written by Matt Fraction; pencilled by David Aja; lettered by Matt Hollingsworth; as well as a slew of other artist like Francisco Francavilla, Javier Pulido, and Annie Wu; and published by Marvel Comics.Follow ComiClub on Instagram @ComiClubPodcastComiClub is hosted by Blaine McGaffigan and Adam Cook.

Bro! On this episode, comics writer and publisher Carlton Hargro (20th Place Media) returns as we take aim at “the breakout star of the blockbuster Avengers film” with a discussion of Hawkeye (2012), specifically issues 1-5 (as seen in Vol. 1: My Life As a Weapon) and 11 (“Pizza Is My Business”), by Matt Fraction, David Aja and Javier Pulido, published by Marvel Comics! This charming take on the World's Greatest Marksman deftly balances humor, action, dense plotting and a strong, unifying visual style courtesy of David Aja and the muted color scheme of Matt Hollingsworth. Can Avenger Clint Barton and his protégé, Kate Bishop (who also goes by Hawkeye) survive encounters with tracksuit-clad mobsters, the Circus of Crime, and a dangerous auto-thieving redhead? Can Clint's pizza-loving canine companion, Lucky, solve the murder of one of Clint's neighbors? And can these stories hit that moving target known as ... The Comics Canon?

Za fabułę sześciu zawartych w albumie zeszytów odpowiada Matt Fraction (Eisner za "The Invincible Iron Man" z 2009). W czym tkwi urok Clinta i Kate? Co wyróżnia oprawę graficzną tego komiksu? Czy Szymas sięgnie po kolejny album? Posłuchajcie. Komiksy z serii "Hawkeye" możecie kupić w sklepie wydawnictwa Egmont.
