Just before Trump began his second administration in January, he and his business partners launched the $TRUMP coin. It's a meme coin that quickly raked in hundreds of millions of dollars. And there's a lot of earning potential still left on the table. Is any of this legal? Today on the show, we examine how the $TRUMP coin works and talk to an expert about how the president's meme coin gambit interacts with the Foreign Emoluments Clause of the Constitution. You can watch Austin play through this section of the game right here. After T3-M4 and 3C-FD (who we're all sure will be very important throughout the game) managed to repair the Ebon Hawk, it and its unconscious crewmembers--the so called "last of the Jedi" and a mysterious robed woman named Kreia--have come to in the abandoned Peragus Mining Facility. Well. Mostly abandoned. There is the matter of the sneering (but surprisingly aware) scoundrel Atton... and the droids. So many droids. Hallways and hallways of droids. The past fifty years have been the era of unchallenged market dominance in all areas of life. But with the global upheaval brought on by the Trump trade war, are we seeing the neoliberal order unraveling? In this episode of Confronting Capitalism, Vivek Chibber and Melissa Naschek discuss the historic origins of neoliberalism, so-called “pro-worker” conservatism, and the prospects for deglobalization. Confronting Capitalism with Vivek Chibber is produced by Catalyst: A Journal of Theory and Strategy, and published by Jacobin. Music by Zonkey.

Being a farmer in Brazil has never been cooler - at least, that is the impression you might get from social media. Music videos featuring cowboy hat wearing farmers, driving tractors and boasting about their wealth, have garnered millions of views online. Meanwhile, farmers turned influencers offer a window into rural life, insisting Brazil is not just a country of football and Carnival, but of farming. Critics say social media has become the latest battleground in a long-running effort by Brazil's powerful agribusiness industry to improve the way it is perceived. They say posts and videos like these are “propaganda” meant to distract from the sector's poor environmental track record. But farmers argue their livelihoods are being targeted by “ideologues” and “activists”, who fail to grasp where their food really comes from. And, as Brazil prepares to host COP30, how does this idealised image of agribusiness fit into a world facing climate change?

On a cold spring day in May 1982, two friends, Ann Lee and Margaret Johnson, set off for what would be their final dogwalk together around a familiar area of common land to them in the town of Aldershot, in Hampshire.Their final walk, because during it, Ann and Margaret met a crazed killer.Yet, within hours of the murder, had their killer called police and given his name and address? And when this wasn't acted upon, had he then called again just over a year later, to confess to the killings?I'll tell you, in the first of a two part story. The episode contains details and descriptions of crimes and events, including descriptions of injury detail, that some listeners may find disturbing or distressing, so discretion is advised whilst listening in. Send us a textWhat if the path to fulfillment isn't found in wealth—but in impact? In this deeply personal and eye-opening episode, Joey Pinz speaks with Arunjay Katakam—author, thinker, and self-proclaimed "recovering wealth-chaser." Arunjay recounts his journey from investment banking to becoming a global advocate for Inclusive Economics, revealing how a mindset shift—sparked by a shocking metaphor involving his grandmother's gold teeth—set him on a new course. He shares how the dream of being a millionaire was slowly replaced by a mission to help the world's most vulnerable, and how financial inclusion alone is not enough—we need economic inclusion. From founding Inclusive Action Lab to advocating zero-fee digital payments, Arunjay is pushing for a system that works for everyone.✨ Top 3 Highlights: 1.

Growing up in the midst of the HIV/AIDS epidemic left Pete Crighton with a huge fear of sex … and he threw himself into music as a way to cope with his anxieties. Decades later, he realized that he needed to face his fears and live his queer life to the fullest. Pete writes about this journey in his new memoir, The Vinyl Diaries, where he uses his favourite songs, albums and artists as the backdrop to his story. He tells Mattea Roach about his later-in-life exploration of sex and why music was so formative to his queer experience. Republicans are preparing to tear up America's clean energy tax credits as part of their budget reconciliation megabill. Hollowing out those policies will have sweeping implications for the country's energy system — it could set back solar, nuclear, and geothermal development; bring less electricity supply onto the grid; and devastate the country's fledgling electric vehicle supply chain. A new report — written by our own Jesse Jenkins — is all about the real-life consequences of killing the tax credits. On this week's episode of Shift Key, Jesse shares the forthcoming analysis of the bill from Princeton University's REPEAT Project. Rob and Jesse discuss what best-in-class modeling tells us the bill will mean for carbon emissions, the energy economy, the power grid, and consumer energy costs. Shift Key is hosted by Jesse Jenkins, a professor of energy systems engineering at Princeton University, and Robinson Meyer, Heatmap's executive editor.Mentioned:New REPEAT Project report on the GOP reconciliation billHow a House GOP Proposal Would Essentially Gut the IRA's Biggest Tax CreditsWhy it's a problem for the clean energy tax credits to lose transferabilityWhy mortality can fall during recessions: clean airThe natural gas turbine crisisJesse's upshift; Rob's downshift.--Music for Shift Key is by Adam Kromelow. On June 10, 2011, 36-year-old Shane Fell vanished after a car accident in Marrero, Louisiana. After a night at a bar watching his brother Brett's pool tournament, Shane, who had some beer but wasn't visibly drunk, took a backroad home, possibly avoiding DUI checkpoints. He crashed his car on River Road, told Brett he was fine, and exited through the window. By the time Brett arrived, Shane was missing. Police found minor blood traces, a fastened seatbelt, and later one of Shane's shoes nearby. Extensive searches—using helicopters, dogs, and river scans—yielded nothing, nor did his phone, wallet, or keys turn up. A couple reported Shane declined their help at the scene. Despite family-led efforts, including a reward and billboard, and unverified sightings of Shane possibly homeless, the case stalled. Theories range from amnesia to a river accident, but no evidence confirms his fate, leaving the mystery unsolved. Sources: Baxter, J. (2023, June 2). Life-Changing Assessments: "The work that you're doing through these assessments is life-changing for people. It is difficult, but you are a lifeguard in this scenario." - Hattie HawksHattie Hawk steps into the hot seat, openly sharing her own EQ report—and together, she and Eric explore not only what her results reveal, but also how self-awareness, honesty, and the courage to confront personal challenges can lead to meaningful growth.Eric and Hattie break down the assessment's key components, from success factors like quality of life and well-being, to the core competencies that drive emotional intelligence. Hattie gets candid about her own journey, revealing how complex life events, personal struggles, and intentional self-reflection have shaped her emotional landscape. The conversation touches on the power of recognizing patterns, navigating emotions, and cultivating empathy—not just for others, but for ourselves.Whether you're curious about taking an EQ assessment yourself or simply looking for inspiration to face your own life's storms, this episode offers plenty of wisdom, encouragement, and practical strategies for building greater emotional resilience. How it's used: The EQ Assessment is designed to measure factors like competencies (e.g., pattern recognition, emotional literacy, and navigation of emotions) and success factors (effectiveness, relationships, well-being, and quality of life), with a debrief provided by a practitioner and often followed by ongoing coaching. Here are 3 key takeaways from the episode:Honest Self-Assessment Is Transformative - The value of an EQ assessment lies in being radically honest with yourself. As Hattie put it, “At the end of the day, you really only have to be honest with yourself to have a better life.” Growth really starts when you drop the facade and embrace your current reality with curiosity, not judgment.Leaning Into Your Strengths—And Weaknesses - It's natural to focus on your lowest scores, but there's power in acknowledging where you're already strong. Hattie gravitated to her high “quality of life” score, which reflected intentional work she'd been putting in. Both strengths and challenges offer essential clues for personal development.Building Emotional Muscles Is a Dynamic Process - Developing EQ is like building muscle—it happens over time, through consistent effort, resistance, and sometimes discomfort. The process isn't about achieving perfect scores, but about using insights to navigate challenges, improve relationships, and create more meaning in your life.In each episode, Jeff and Eric will talk about what emotional intelligence, or understanding your emotions, can do for you in your daily and work life. For more information, contact Eric or Jeff at info@spiritofeq.com, or go to their website, Spirit of EQ.You can follow The Spirit of EQ Podcast on Apple Podcasts, Android, or on your favorite podcast player.New episodes are available on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays every month! Please review our podcast on iTunes.
