What does it mean to worship God “with reverence and awe” (Heb. 12:28)? In this episode of Christ the Center, Dr. Camden Bucey speaks with Dr. David Hall and Dr. Carlton Wynne about the upcoming Reformation Worship Conference at Midway PCA (October 16–19, 2025). Together, they reflect on the regulative principle of worship, the unchanging truth of Scripture, and the ways God uses ordinary means of grace to sanctify his people. Dr. Hall shares his journey into Reformed worship, highlighting how worship flows from every doctrinal locus—Christology, pneumatology, anthropology, and beyond. The discussion encourages believers to treasure reverence, resist shallow entertainment-driven services, and see worship as the very heart of discipleship.  00:07 Introduction   06:51 Confessing Unchanging Truth   13:57 Dr. Hall's Background   20:48 Dr. Wynne's Background   25:43 The Regulative Principle of Worship   33:58 Worship Offering a Sanctifying Influence   42:11 Trends in Worship Practices   46:46 The Directory for Public Worship   52:26 The Influence of the Wider Culture on the Church   59:21 Conclusion   This is Christ the Center episode 927 (https://www.reformedforum.org/ctc927)

Sharing our faith should be exciting to us. It is exciting. When we consider the free grace God gave us through His Son, telling others about Jesus should be on our priority list every day. For whatever reason, many find it very awkward to talk to others about Jesus. We can talk about just about anything else, though. That's why it's crucial that we look at sharing the gospel as an intentional thing we do. Intentionality is a great way to overcome our hesitancy, and let's be honest, sometimes fear keeps us from sharing. Truth is, each personality requires a customized approach to sharing about Jesus. Some are outgoing and others are shy. A blogger for God TV has written that he admired a friend who told every seatmate on every plane he'd been in about Jesus. The blogger went on to write that “Even if my fellow passengers desperately wanted to know Christ, they likely couldn't even get my attention with a jackhammer drill or a pie in the face.” Kind of funny and also kind of sad, also very common. Matthew 16:24 says, “Then Jesus said to His disciples, ‘Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.'” So, if we're looking for ways to overcome our mediocre gospel sharing, what can we do? Let's look at a few tips. The first is prayer. Get honest with God and tell Him you're not so great at evangelism. I mean, He already knows, anyway. Ask Him specifically to give you both opportunities and an intentional plan for communicating the best news anyone will ever hear. Two, plan, think ahead. Are you a person who's good at conversation? Go over a mental checklist that provides you with enough scripture and short sentences to make your pitch when the time comes. However, if you're not outgoing, maybe you're a writer. Consider communicating with a card to let the person know you're thinking about him or her. Play to your strengths, not your weaknesses. Number three, listen before you talk. How many times do we jump into a conversation or meeting without taking a breath? Train yourself to be quiet for a bit until you hear where the other person is coming from. You'll learn about your friend or acquaintance, and you can then think through the best way to approach them about the saving gift of Jesus. But also, don't just wait for your turn to talk. Hear them. Meet them where they are, and listen to the Holy Spirit to see how you can speak Jesus into that person's life. Very few of us are Billy Graham. That doesn't mean we can't share the gospel. Somebody's depending on it. Let's pray.Father, whatever our personality and our experiences, give us a passion for loving unbelievers and caring about their well-being. The world is full of diversity. Help us embrace that. In Jesus' name, amen. Change your shirt, and you can change the world! What the Widow's Mite Teaches About True Generosity

What does true generosity look like? Is it measured by the size of the gift, or is it something deeper? In Luke 21:1–4, Jesus praises a widow who gave only two small coins. At first glance, her offering seems insignificant compared to the wealthy donors around her. Yet, in Jesus' eyes, her gift was greater than them all. Why? Because God doesn't measure generosity by the amount—it's the heart behind it that matters. The Scene at the TemplePicture the temple courts: the wealthy making large, noticeable contributions, drawing admiration for their gifts. Then comes a poor widow. No fanfare. No applause. Just two copper coins—economically worthless. Yet Jesus declares that she has given more than anyone else. The difference? The wealthy gave from their abundance, gifts that cost them little. The widow gave out of her poverty—all she had to live on. Her gift was not just generous; it was sacrificial, risky, and rooted in trust. This theme echoes throughout Scripture. In 1 Samuel 16:7, the Lord tells Samuel, “Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” Paul also affirms this in 2 Corinthians 8:12: “If the willingness is there, the gift is acceptable according to what one has, not according to what one does not have.”God doesn't call us to give what we don't have. He calls us to give cheerfully, faithfully, and with hearts surrendered to Him.God Wants Your HeartThe widow's gift also points us to the gospel itself. In 2 Corinthians 8:9 we read, “Though He was rich, yet for your sake He became poor, so that you through His poverty might become rich.” Jesus gave everything for us—holding nothing back. When we give sacrificially, we reflect His love and generosity.Maybe you've felt your giving is too small to matter. But Scripture shows otherwise. In John 6, a boy offered five loaves and two fish—and Jesus fed thousands. The issue isn't what you have, but what God can do with it.Generosity in God's Kingdom isn't about status or size. It's about surrender. A gift given in faith is never small. Whether two coins or two million dollars, the real question is: Am I giving out of abundance or out of trust? The story of the widow's mite isn't meant to pressure us into giving more. Instead, it frees us to see generosity the way God does—not as an economic equation but as an act of worship. He doesn't need your money; He wants your heart. On Today's Program, Rob Answers Listener Questions:I lost money in my 401(k) when I became disabled, and now it's sitting in an IRA that isn't earning anything. Should I transfer it to a savings account, and what taxes would I be liable for? Keeping things simple is usually the best path forward. For Christians, that means following Christ's lead in everything. This includes sharing and standing up for our faith. The Bible is full of examples of how Jesus did this. Occasionally, He got mad, as when He threw out the moneychangers. Other times, He just quietly sat and taught what His Father had shown Him.This is our model. When you share Christ with someone and that person believes, you have been given the privilege of watching the most important moment in his or her life—ever. To get to this moment, it will require you to be knowledgeable about your faith, balanced enough to be gentle in sharing, and sometimes edgy enough to push back when someone mocks our Lord.Jude 1:3 says, “Dear friends, I had been eagerly planning to write to you about the salvation we all share. But now I find that I must write about something else, urging you to defend the faith that God has entrusted once for all time to his holy people.” God gave us a job to do, and one of his prophets, Jude, told us to be ready to defend the Gospel. This, we should be happy to do.Let's pray.Lord, your wisdom is enough for us. We are always ready to defend the Good News. In Jesus' name. Send us a textWhat if worship isn't a feeling but an allegiance—one that reshapes your heart, your habits, and how you spend your time and money? We dive into the sweeping call to love God with heart, soul, and strength and unpack how that plays out in ordinary life: parenting through interruptions, singing when you don't feel like it, building daily liturgies that stick, and turning homes and resources into outposts of grace. Tiffany shares a raw moment of singing “I surrender” and realizing she hadn't—and how repentance, renouncing lies, replacing them with truth, and renewing the mind became a simple, repeatable path back to a true heart posture. We talk bodies as instruments of worship—why kneeling matters, why gratitude can lead feelings, and why consistent rhythms are more like strength training than spiritual fireworks. From prayer journals with kids to listening to Scripture when the house is loud, we offer practical patterns that grow real resilience. We also reframe “peace.” The Prince of Peace doesn't anesthetize; he reconciles and then sends us into hard places with a different kind of courage. That peace is covenantal, not merely emotional—a settled trust that frees us to obey when comfort resists. Finally, we push against common counterfeits: comparison culture, curated perfection, politics-as-purpose, porn, and the lure of numbing habits. Strength in the Kingdom means resources offered and multiplied—hospitality that stretches budgets, fences that bless neighbors for decades, meals that turn into discipleship. When heart posture flows into daily liturgy and then into generous strength, households, churches, and communities actually change. iWork4Him PowerThought

It shouldn't surprise us. Our God, who is a God of order, design, and truth, has a clear answer for our priorities. Our Number 4 priority should be our work. Work is a gift from God, just as our relationships are. Work is necessary to shape our character and pay our bills. Work is designed to have a start and an end every day. Everything unravels when work is a higher priority than our families and God. Marriages struggle, kids struggle, and we become strangers with God. When Work is put in its proper place, it is a blessing that causes flourishing for us, our coworkers, bosses, employees, customers, and vendors. Avodah is the Hebrew word for Work and Worship. That is what God intended- for our work to be worship at the same time. Keep it in check, and life will be good.

They examine how the temple serves as a central place where God's presence is "intensified" while not confining God to a single location - similar to how we understand the sacraments today. Key topics covered: * The significance of the Ark of the Covenant and the stone tablets at the temple's heart * How the covenant relationship ("I will be your God, you will be my people") remains central to worship * The connection between this reading and Reformation Sunday * Personal reflections on visiting St. Peter's Basilica and the Church of the Holy Sepulcher * The importance of communal worship versus privatized religion * How sacred spaces connect us to the communion of saints across centuries The hosts bring their expertise from Luther Seminary to illuminate how this ancient story speaks to contemporary questions about worship, community, and God's presence among us.

Welcome to The Daily, where we study the Bible verse by verse, chapter by chapter, every day. Get behind our through the Bible project. Read more here Project23. Our text today is Judges 6:17–24. And he said to him, “If now I have found favor in your eyes, then show me a sign that it is you who speak with me. Please do not depart from here until I come to you and bring out my present and set it before you.” And he said, “I will stay till you return.” So Gideon went into his house and prepared a young goat and unleavened cakes from an ephah of flour. The meat he put in a basket and the broth he put in a pot and brought them to him under the terebinth and presented them. And the angel of God said to him, “Take the meat and the unleavened cakes, and put them on this rock, and pour the broth over them.” And he did so. Then the angel of the LORD reached out the tip of the staff that was in his hand and touched the meat and the unleavened cakes. And fire sprang up from the rock and consumed the meat and the unleavened cakes. And the angel of the LORD vanished from his sight. Then Gideon perceived that he was the angel of the LORD. And Gideon said, “Alas, O Lord GOD! For now I have seen the angel of the LORD face to face.” But the LORD said to him, “Peace be to you. Do not fear; you shall not die.” Then Gideon built an altar there to the LORD and called it, The LORD Is Peace. — Judges 6:17-24 Gideon's call is still fresh. God has told him, “I will be with you”, but fear is still whispering in his ear. He wants to believe — but he needs assurance. So Gideon offers what he has — a gift, placed before the angel of the LORD. In a flash of fire from the rock, God confirms His presence and His power. Gideon's fear spikes at first (“I have seen the angel of the LORD face to face!”), but God speaks peace into the moment: “Do not fear; you shall not die.” And right there, Gideon builds an altar. It's not just a monument — it's the turning point. The altar becomes the bridge between the fear that kept him in hiding and the faith that will send him into action. Worship is more than singing songs. It's the place where we respond to God's presence, remember his promises, and let his voice replace our fear with peace. For Gideon, that altar was where “I can't” became “He can.” It's where he stopped letting fear define his future and started believing God's affirmation. This is why so many of us stall in our calling — we try to jump from fear straight to action. But the path God gives is different: Fear → Worship → Faith → Action The altar is the bridge. Without it, you're running on your own adrenaline. With it, you're fueled by his peace. Pause whatever else you're doing and worship right now. Speak out loud one fear that's been holding you back. Thank God for one specific way He's confirmed His presence in your life. Pray these words: “You are my peace. I trust You more than I fear.” Write today's date in your journal as a marker — your “altar” moment — so you remember where fear became faith. ASK THIS: Where has fear been keeping you in hiding instead of moving forward? How could intentional worship today become your bridge into faith? What would your “altar” look like in this season? Are you trying to leap into action without first letting God speak peace over you? DO THIS: Pause whatever else you're doing and worship. PRAY THIS: Lord, thank You that worship is the bridge between my fear and my faith. I offer You my fear right now and choose to rest in Your peace before I move forward. Amen. PLAY THIS: "Peace Be Still."

The conversation also explores the balance between grace and holiness in the Christian life and the significance of understanding our authority in Christ when dealing with spiritual matters. Christa tells of her journey through the counterfeit agendas of society, the great importance of knowing Biblical Truth and the impact of cultural influences on personal beliefs. She discusses the dangers and consequences of new age practices, her experiences with psychedelics, highlighting the dangers of deception in the spiritual realm and ultimately her return to Jesus. Christa teaches on the importance of repentance, renouncing negative influences, and replacing them with truth to achieve restoration and healing in one's life.  Her story illustrates the struggle between self-reliance and faith in Jesus, culminating in a miraculous message of restoration and healing as she share how Jesus dramatically  saved her from the deceptive schemes of the enemy.Resources:More from the Revelations Podcast hosted by Reagan Kramer: Website | Instagram | Apple Podcast | YoutubeChrista Joy Black: https://www.instagram.com/christajoyblack/This Episode is brought to you by Advanced Medicine AlternativesGet back to the active life you love through natural & regenerative musculoskeletal healing: https://www.georgekramermd.com/ 01:41The Journey of Redemption02:06The Power of Prophetic Words08:36Transitioning from Music to Ministry14:02Understanding Trauma and Spiritual Warfare19:12Imagination as a Spiritual Tool25:29The Battle of the Mind and Spiritual Authority33:29Fallen Angels and Spiritual Realities44:20The Hidden Influence of Propaganda that leads to New Age practices48:03The Shift from Holiness to Grace52:28The Feminist Movement and Its Impact on Family Dynamics58:07The Journey into Plant Medicine01:02:36The Consequences of Seeking False Healing and New Age01:15:56The Church's Response to Spiritual Become Part of Our Mission! Think of what Jesus was asking of His followers. He had just risen from the dead. That doesn't happen every day.His ministry had been destroyed, so they thought. He wasn't coming back. But then He did. Only days after being killed on a brutal Roman cross, Jesus was standing in front of His friends, looking very much alive. And He was telling them their futures were dicey.Mark 16:15 says, “He said to them, ‘Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.'”Jerusalem at the time was under occupation by an unforgiving empire. The empire required all from each individual and never gave anything back. Jesus was telling His disciples that if they would give up all for Him, He'd give it back and more—forever. This was the first great command to preach the Good News everywhere. The first marching orders for a spiritual army.We are called to be in that army, to give our all in order to shake things up for eternity.Let's pray.Lord, thank you for giving us the chance to share your love with others, all over the world. We love you! In Jesus' name, amen. Change your shirt, and you can change the world! Save 15% Off your entire purchase of faith-based apparel + gifts at Kerusso.com with code KDD15.

From navigating limited resources to handling disagreements about finances within a family, the conversation offers both spiritual encouragement and real-world wisdom. Grounded in the book of Haggai, this episode invites listeners to seek God's guidance, step out in faith, and discover the joy of aligning their resources with His greater mission.

Most women cringe when they hear the word sales. It feels slimy, pushy, and completely out of alignment with who we are. But what if sales wasn't about pressure at all—what if it was simply about conversations, connection, and service? In this episode of Her Faith at Work, I sit down with Stefani Pady, founder of Women, Worship and Work and GLS Coaching and Consulting. After two decades in corporate America and a life-changing season of reading the Bible cover-to-cover, Stefani walked away from the burnout cycle to help women anchor their worth in God's truth and lead with confidence. We unpack how to rethink sales (without the smarm), why Jesus was the ultimate “salesman,” and practical ways to ask better questions, influence with integrity, and find the right clients without losing yourself in the hustle. Whether you love sales, hate sales, or avoid it at all costs—this conversation will shift how you show up in business and ministry. What You'll Learn in This EpisodeThe moment Stefani realized her worth didn't come from quotas, bosses, or performanceHow reading the Bible cover-to-cover reshaped her life and workThe key perspective shift that makes sales less about “closing” and more about helpingWhy open-ended questions are the secret to better conversations (and better business)How Jesus modeled influence, storytelling, and bold invitationsPractical sales tips for introverts and entrepreneurs who'd rather “do the work” than pitchNotable Quotes“When we get our eyes on Scripture, everybody around us starts changing—even if our circumstances don't.” – Stefani Pady“Sales isn't about overcoming objections; it's about tuning into the right frequency with people.” – Stefani Pady“Leadership is influence—nothing more, nothing less. We take a closer look at Jesus' call to costly discipleship and what it means to live as both recipients of grace and active followers of Christ. From denying ourselves to taking up our cross, we examine the three imperatives Jesus gives—and the four powerful reasons why the cost is always worth it.Listen to the sermon we're talking about: fbcva.org/current-sermon-series or fbcva.org/podcastsBe a part of the conversation by submitting your thoughts and questions: fbcva.org/sermon-spotlight-podcastWatch this episode and subscribe on YouTube:  @fellowshipbiblechurchvaFind out more about Fellowship Bible Church: fbcva.orgSubscribe to emails from Fellowship: fbcva.org/subscribeEngage with us:Facebook: facebook.com/groups/fellowshipfamInstagram: instagram.com/fellowshipbiblechurch/   More Channels from Fellowship:Weekend Sermons: fbcva.org/podcastThe Global Church Podcast: fbcva.org/the-global-church-podcastThe Fellowship Family Podcast: fbcva.org/fellowshipfamilypodcast#SermonSpotlight #FellowshipBibleChurch #Discipleship #Mark8 #TakeUpYourCross #ChristianPodcast #CostOfDiscipleship

“You shall worship the Lord your God and him only shall you serve.” Taking a look at the first commandment, we see how we are called to love and worship God above all else. The Catechism also lists the ways in which we may potentially fall into sins against faith, hope, and charity. Fr. Mike elaborates on these violations and reminds us that while it may seem overwhelming, God loved us first, and we must trust in him. Today's readings are Catechism paragraphs 2083-2094.
