As Christmas draws near, Matt and Anna help kids discover how the wise men followed a special star to worship Jesus, the promised Savior. This episode shows how Jesus is worthy of worship, how God keeps His promises, and why Christmas is about celebrating that Jesus came to save sinners. What You'll Learn ✨ Jesus Is the Promised Savior — God kept His promise to send Jesus to save His people from sin. ✨ Wise Men Worship Jesus — The wise men traveled a long way to honor Jesus as King. ✨ Jesus Is Worthy of Worship — Gold, frankincense, and myrrh showed Jesus was worthy of honor and praise. ✨ Waiting Can Be Full of Hope — Just like the wise men waited and followed the star, God's people wait trusting His promises. ✨ Christmas Is Bigger Than the Manger — Jesus didn't stay a baby; He grew up to save sinners forever.

You can have the wins everyone sees and still feel the weight no one knows. This week we're exploring the difference between building a life and actually living one. If you're tired of pretending you're fine, don't skip this message.
What if the way we tell time shapes the way we love God? We trace the deep roots of Advent and Candlemas to show how the early church used feasts to form memory, kindle joy, and carry light from the sanctuary into ordinary homes. Along the way, we meet Anna in Luke 2—a widow of great age whose quiet devotion becomes a loud sermon about steadfast hope. Her story pushes back on the myth that only big platforms change the world, revealing how staying, fasting, worshiping, and praying can open our eyes to recognize Christ when He draws near.We explore how secular calendars took center stage and why the church once organized life around retelling God's acts. From the Nativity candles taken home as living reminders to the offering of light returned on Candlemas, these practices were never about optics; they were about formation. We dig into the history, the Reformers' calendar cuts, and the way those choices still shape how we mark the season today. Then we contrast Zechariah's divinely imposed silence with Anna's honored voice, highlighting Luke's careful theme: God dignifies the overlooked and entrusts His message to those the culture underestimates. This conversation is both historical and deeply practical. You'll leave with simple ways to embody Advent: light a candle and pray at dinner, choose a modest fast to make room for presence over hurry, begin and end each day with short prayers, and serve quietly without fanfare. If you've ever wondered how to move beyond holiday noise into holy attention, Anna's life offers a clear path—steady, unseen, and radiant with hope.My hope is that this podcast helps grow your faith and equips you to accomplish your dreams and goals!Follow me on InstagramFollow me on FacebookFollow me on TikTok

In our humanness, we struggle at times to achieve peace.World War 1 ended 100 years ago, and all sides joined together as a League of Nations to make that conflict the “War to end all wars.”And then World War 2 happened. Our history is littered with noble attempts to make things right, but only God can bring peace to nations and to individuals. He has promised both! One day, He will make everything new, forever. While we wait for that great day, He also grants us peace in our daily lives.2 Thessalonians 3:16 says, “Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times in every way. The Lord be with you all.”We only have to ask Him for it. Jesus, as He said in Matthew 11:28, gives us peace even in our greatest trials and when we are exhausted. Then, peace comes to refresh us and give us all the strength we need.If you don't have peace in your life, simply ask God for it. He will provide.Let's pray.Father God, let your peace wash over people everywhere in this hurting world. Make them aware of your spirit of peace. In Jesus' name, amen. Building on the foundation laid in previous episodes, co-hosts John Shimp and Pastor Karl Dyrli are joined by Laura Forrester, who is a member of the worship team as well as the Director of Communications at Fellowship, to discuss the difference between doxology and personal preference. Together, they lay the groundwork for understanding what true, biblical worship really looks like and why worship is about giving God what he is worthy of rather than making the focus on our own preferences and styles. They explore the tension between true worship and preference, why preferences themselves are not bad but become disordered when they are placed before Christ, how worship encompasses every aspect of life, why biblical worship is not an escape from reality but a response to God's kingdom breaking into the world through Christ, the freedom Scripture gives when it comes to style and expression, and so much more. Jesus Followers Practice a Weekly Time of Worship and Rest through Their Sabbath and a Daily Time Alone with God in Prayer MESSAGE SUMMARY: Jesus said, in Mark 2:27-28, “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. So the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath.”. Therefore, we are to practice a weekly Sabbath – worship and rest. Also, we are to build into our lives a time alone with God each day. In Mark 1:35, Mark tells us about Jesus: “And rising very early in the morning, while it was still dark, He departed and went out to a desolate place, and there He prayed.". If Jesus needed to spend time in prayer, doesn't it make sense that we need to spend time in daily prayer as well? TODAY'S PRAYER: Lord, I now take a deep breath and stop. So often I miss your hand and gifts in my life because I am preoccupied and anxious. Grant me the power to pause each day and each week to simply rest in your arms of love. In Jesus' name, amen. Scazzero, Peter. Emotionally Healthy Spirituality Day by Day (p. 132). Zondervan. Kindle Edition. TODAY'S AFFIRMATION: Today, Because of who I am in Jesus Christ, I will not be driven by Loneliness. Rather, I will abide in the Lord's Presence. “I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in Me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from Me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5). Text: John 1:1–181 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. 4 In him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. 6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. 7 He came as a witness, to bear witness about the light, that all might believe through him. 8 He was not the light, but came to bear witness about the light. 9 The true light, which gives light to everyone, was coming into the world. 10 He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet the world did not know him. 11 He came to his own, and his own people did not receive him. 12 But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, 13 who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God. 14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. 15 (John bore witness about him, and cried out, “This was he of whom I said, ‘He who comes after me ranks before me, because he was before me.'”) 16 For from his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace.17 For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. 18 No one has ever seen God; God the only Son, who is at the Father's side, he has made him known. INTRODUCTION: A "JESUS" Series Knowing Christ CHRIST BEFORE CHRISTMAS (vv. 1-3) John 1:1 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” Jesus is the CREATOR Colossians 1:15-17 15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. 16 For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. CHRIST WITH US (vv.14-17) John 1:14 14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. CHRIST REVEALS GOD (v. 18) John 1:18“No one has ever seen God; the only God, who is at the Father's side, He has made Him known.”Application: What does it mean to me? Christ is the Creator — Worship Him Christ is the Savior — Receive Him Christ is God — Trust HimConclusion

Christmas carries a profound message that transcends the commercialized version often presented by the world. It celebrates the incarnation of the Word, who came to save humanity, making Christmas a timeless truth relevant throughout the year. This truth is more than the birth of a baby; it signifies a divine presence in our lives. We must not let earthly distractions obscure the spiritual significance of this season. John’s gospel emphasizes the Word's eternal existence and the tragedy of humanity's ignorance and indifference. People often miss the true meaning of Christmas because they are too preoccupied with their own lives. Mary and Joseph were turned away from the inn because there was no room. We too often have no room to allow Jesus into our lives. To truly embrace Christmas, we must prioritize what is important, recognize the divine in our lives, and engage in heartfelt worship. Worship, unlike mere praise, involves the heart and leads to transformative encounters with God. Despite our shortcomings, God’s grace surpasses our self-condemnation, offering us a path to bridge the gap and connect with Him.

Worship this week is filled with JOY! Scripture reminds us that there are always those who have gone before who would wish to see what we now see. This was true in Peter's time, and it is true in ours. Who has come before us to give us the vision we are now living? And what vision do we leave for others? We take time to honor those who have been faithful to this vision of Unity over the past 20 years as we celebrate paying off our mortgage.

It's Celebration Sunday, and we're announcing huge wins, sharing powerful stories of faith, and revealing the results of our Difference Maker Initiative! We're celebrating salvations, baptisms, first-time givers, bold commitments, and the incredible generosity that is shaping the future of our church. It's going to be a day full of joy, vision, and unforgettable moments. And we're tying it all into Part 2 of our Christmas series, Here I Am to Worship, as we look at the real story of the Wise Men — not kings, but king-makers who traveled a thousand miles to worship Jesus and advance His mission. obedience, and extravagant generosity to move God's mission forward.Just like them, Real Life has gone the distance. Just like them, Difference Makers have stepped out with faith, obedience, and extravagant generosity to move God's mission forward.Enjoy Celebration Sunday — a moment where we worship like the Wise Men, give like Difference Makers, and step into a brand-new season God is opening for Real Life.

The Magi traveled a great distance and expense to offer Jesus gifts. But what do gold, frankincense, and myrrh truly signify, and why is Jesus worthy of our worship today? In this Advent sermon, Dr. Roger Patterson of CityRise Bellaire walks through the story of the wise men in Matthew chapter two. He explains that each gift answers the question, "Who is this child and why is he worthy of my worship?". Discover the profound spiritual significance of the Magi's offerings:
