We did it. We got a new episode of The Flickcast done and out to you, our loyal listeners. We know we should have had one last week and we didn't. Sorry about that. It probably won't happen again. Probably. And Aliens mostly come out at night. Mostly. Anyway, on this week's episode, Chris and Joe are back and a bit less angry than last time. That's a good thing because they're talking about a whole slew of potentially anger-inducing subjects this week including the current status of Rosario Dawson's career, all the various TV show pickups and cancellations, Idris Elba vs. Tom Hardy and a whole lot more. Yep. More. Picks this week include Chris' pick of Last Week Tonight With John Oliver, which airs on HBO, and Joe's pick of the new Samsung Galaxy S6. Yes, he uses and Android phone. So? As always, if you have comments, questions, critiques, offers of sponsorship, or whatever, feel free to hit us up in the comments, on Twitter, at Facebook, Google+ or via email.

We present John Martellaro, Senior Editor, Analysis & Reviews for The Mac Observer and a columnist for The Street, with a big plate of topics. He’ll explain how his skepticism about Apple’s new MacBook was lessened after he had a chance to use one, and why it’s not a “4-year step backward.” Apple Watch is also on the agenda, as John suggests it won’t be a luxury for long. The topics of discussion also include why iPad sales are faltering, the Microsoft Surface 3 tablet, and Apple’s new association with IBM. You’ll also hear from Kyle Wiens and Andrew Goldberg from iFixit. This time they’ll tell you about their experiences tearing down the new MacBook, the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge, and some Windows gear. Which models are easy to fix? Which models are just messy? They’ll also outline their plans to take apart the Apple Watch.
This week on the SyrupCast, we chat about the LG G4 and the problems facing any Android company that isn't Samsung. Plus, the release of the HTC One M9 and Samsung Galaxy S6; the return of the OnePlus One to Canada; Bell's privacy snafu; the 2,500Mhz spectrum auction, and lots more! Hosts: Douglas Soltys, Daniel BaderRuntime: 1hr 17 min
This week we can finally get some closure on the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge. Chris tells us why he will be getting the Edge despite everything he hates about it. We also talk about Sprint's latest desperate attempt to get customers, the massive LG G4 leak, OnePlus' plans for 2015, and much more.
This week, Avram Piltch has a show-and-tell of the newly released Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge. The device, which released in the United States today, is the newest entry in the Galaxy family, adding the rounded LCD edges first found on the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge. It is the sister device to the Samsung Galaxy S6, which also was released today. The question at hand is, with the $100 price difference over the standard phone, is this a phone to consider?
Sometimes, 3500 words and a 12-minute video isn't enough. When a smartphone is a truly big deal, sometimes you just need more. And more is exactly what we're bringing you on the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge, phones destined to change the Android landscape in 2015. We've got an S6 in one hand and an S6 edge brought by the angel of tech herself, and we're taking your questions live on the air as we try to get to the bottom of what's hot – and what's not. Of course, the news doesn't stop for Samsung's new releases; in fact, quite the opposite is true. The competition has turned up the heat in both smartphone and wearable news this week, and we're gonna (try to) get to all of it, from the early reaction surrounding the Apple Watch to the intentional LG G4 leak deluge to the next build of Windows Phone. All of the above, plus listener mail and a truly terrifying story about how smartphones are creating the worst place on planet Earth, lies ahead. Join the BBC on a trip to the worst place on Earth, a dystopian lake fueled by the world's tech lust. Excerpt: After seeing the impact of rare earth mining myself, it’s impossible to view the gadgets I use everyday in the same way. As I watched Apple announce their smart watch recently, a thought crossed my mind: once we made watches with minerals mined from the Earth and treated them like precious heirlooms; now we use even rarer minerals and we'll want to update them yearly. Technology companies continually urge us to upgrade; to buy the newest tablet or phone. But I cannot forget that it all begins in a place like Bautou, and a terrible toxic lake that stretches to the horizon. • Thanks for watching! See you next week. Late-night podcasts don’t always have to be about naughty things. Sometimes, to paraphrase Bill Watterson, “the days are just packed,” and the only time you’ve got for a podcast is 6:30 in the evening in between the crushing workload of two flagship smartphone reviews. But if you’re lucky, when that happens you’ve got friends at other sites to help bail you out. Florence Ion is that friend on this special smartphone-vs-smartphone edition of the Pocketnow Weekly. The Android expert from Greenbot has a Galaxy S6 in hand, and we’re gonna put it up against our HTC One M9 review device to see how the two top Android superphones stack up. It’s a kind of Galaxy S6 vs HTC One M9 preview, helped along by you in the Hangouts Q&A, and it’s gonna be a lot of fun. (Not to worry; our full Galaxy S6 review coverage will begin in earnest next week.) All of the above, plus the mobile-tech news of the week and another big bag of listener mail, lies ahead. This week we finally have some new topics to talk about! Pebble announced their next generation smartwatch with a color e-paper display, and it was funded on Kickstart in less than 12 hours. Motorola sent us a press event in a box, and it was really cool. The HTC One M9 and Samsung Galaxy S6 teasers and leaks are red hot. It was a good week, until... 38 minutes into the podcast everything went wrong. Internet issues caused the live Hangout to end, which is usually not a big deal because we record our audio locally. At least the audio version would be fine, right? Turns out we had some random recording issues with audio too. When that happens we just strip the audio from the Hangout video. Welp. The last 22 minutes are gone forever. Sorry.

This week, we talk about Microsoft's new moonshot, its augmented reality wearable, HoloLens, and lots of Windows 10 stuff. Can it fix the company's epic fragmentation issues? We talk about John Chen's letter about net neutrality and how Apple should be forced to make iMessage for Android (or something). Is he crazy, or does he have a point? Then we delve into the new HTC One device, and what it needs to be successful. I think it needs a better camera, but everyone else has opinions. What's yours? Also: Motorola's epic Lollipop rollout mess up; the Samsung Galaxy S6; and Kyle Lowry, who was selected to start at point guard for the Eastern Conference All-Star team on February 5th. We're almost 30, but until then -- Holograms, Holograms, Holograms! Duration: 84 minutes Hosts: Daniel Bader, Douglas Soltys, and Jane McEntegart
