The NFL's week 13 is in the books and with plenty of games from Thanksgiving to Black Friday to Sunday, the NFL Playoff Race is shaping up. Chris, Beau and Nate react to the action and determine which team has a better chance to run the table - the Chiefs or Bengals? What are the Eagles issues on defense? And which team's win on Thanksgiving was more impressive - Packers or Cowboys? On Thanksgiving, the Packers completed their sweep of the Lions, the Cowboys defeated the Chiefs and the Bengals knocked off the Ravens. Then on Black Friday we saw the Bears run all over the Eagles. Those games all have significant impacts on the playoff picture, then with the Panthers beating the Rams on Sunday and the Bills having their way with the Steelers, the Wild Card races have gotten muddier and muddier. And the Texans are making a push of their own, look out for them to knock off some teams as we get later in the season. And at the end of today's episode, a very special guest joins - Ryen Russillo! Ryen talks about Lane's hire at LSU and what that means for the SEC, Ole Miss and CFB! It was out of bounds for Lane Kiffin to accept the LSU job and also think he could keep coaching Ole Miss. That's what Jonathan Zaslow thinks. He also says Alabama has a shot at nabbing a top four spot with a win in the SEC Championship. In the NFL, parity is ruining and making everything interesting. (Side note: every time you watch the Lions do you think to yourself, maybe it was Ben Johnson all along?) Then we get intel on the Chiefs collapse with former Chief lineman Geoff Schwartz. He also gets into the weeds with Mike Tomlin and team dynamics and why a veteran like Cam Heyward losing his mind on Josh Allen is bad omen. Prediabetes is common in the U.S. — around 1 in 3 people have it. And many people may not know they have it. But last year, the FDA approved the first over-the-counter continuous glucose monitor. Since then, more people without diabetes have started checking their blood glucose levels. Diabetologist and University of California, San Francisco professor of medicine Dr. Sarah Kim shares the science behind blood glucose with host Emily Kwong. The 49ers, on Sunday, notched their first three-game winning streak since the opening three weeks of the season and won in Cleveland for the first time since Nov. 1984. The 49ers' latest win was exhibition in execution from the kickoff as they played complimentary football in all three phases. Brock Purdy played errorless football with excellent decision-making, while extending plays when needed. The special teams group bolstered the 49ers' field-position on returns and made timely kicks when needed, while the defense has been humming the last few weeks, creating turnovers and finally adding an element of pressure from the D-line that spurred San Francisco to victory. On this episode of '49ers Talk,' co-hosts Matt Maiocco and Jennifer Lee Chan break down San Francisco's decisive 26-8 road win over the Cleveland Browns at Huntington Bank Field. From Brock Purdy's bounce-back performance following a mistake-filled game, to special teams and defensive units flourishing, to a coach committed to his preparation and scheme in what might be his best coaching season for the Faithful, Matt and Jennifer detail a team finding health and success in time for a much-needed break during their Week 14 bye week.--(1:00) Recapping the 49ers' Week 13 win in blustery weather in Cleveland(3:00) Kyle Shanahan oversold weather to team to mentally, physically prepare them(5:00) Brock Purdy did what he had to do to secure the 49ers' win(11:00) Outstanding performances from Clelin Ferrell, Keion White, Malik Mustapha(14:00) Of all three phases the 49ers' specials teams group has improved the most this season(19:00) The 49ers are playing just about as good as any team in the NFC right now(30:00) Brock Purdy finally showing a bit of confidence -- rare touchdown dance proof of it(39:00) 49ers looking forward to a full week off during their bye Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. Rich recaps the San Francisco 49ers Week 13 win over the Browns, and Auntie Jackie from Virginia calls in to offer her spot-on assessment of Shedeur Sanders' latest start for Cleveland, and explains why (for his own selfish reasons perhaps???) the Cincinnati Bengals' playoff hopes are still alive with the return of Joe Burrow. Rich reacts to the Carolina Panthers improving to 6-5 on the year with a Week 13 upset over the Los Angels Rams sparked by forcing 3 turnovers by Matthew Stafford. The guys weigh in on the Browns' en masse bashing of WR Jauan Jennings' crossing-the-line trash talk in San Francisco's win, just a week after the 49ers WR was punched in the nether region by Panthers DB Tre'von Moehrig. If you've watched any legal drama on TV, you know that criminal defendants are entitled to a jury of peers. But does our court system fulfill that promise? Filmmaker Abby Ginzberg's short documentary “Judging Juries” exposes how discriminatory dismissals, and a lack of financial support, keep people of color off of juries, and how that exclusion impacts our entire justice system. We'll talk with Ginzberg, two public defenders, and a San Francisco official working to address this problem – in San Francisco, at least. The city launched a pilot program that offers $100 per day to low-income jurors for their service. We'll explore the impact of that program, and other efforts to remove barriers to jury service. Have you ever served on a jury? Tell us about your experience. Guests: Manohar Raju, public defender, City of San Francisco Anne Stuhldreher, senior advisor, San Francisco Treasurer's Office Abby Ginzberg, documentary filmmaker, "Judging Juries" Brendon Woods, public defender for Alameda County, Alameda County Defenders Learn more about your ad choices. Ken Carman and Anthony Lima take in the Cleveland Browns' loss to the San Francisco 49ers.
92.3 The Fan's own Daryl Ruiter joins Ken Carman and Anthony Lima to go over the details of the Cleveland Browns' loss to the San Francisco 49ers, and the issues that cost the Browns a potential victory over their NFC West coutnerparts.
Ken Carman and Anthony Lima talk about several Cleveland Browns' responses to San Francisco 49ers receiver Jauan Jennings' alleged comments, as well as Shedeur Sanders and the Sanders' family Thanksgiving.
92.3 The Fan presents a selection of conversations about the Browns' Week 13 defeat at the hands of San Francisco from The Ken Carman Show with Anthony Lima, Baskin & Phelps, and The Afternoon Drive.
Ken Carman and Anthony Lima analyze Cleveland Browns wide receiver Jerry Jeudy's sideline exchange with quarterback Shedeur Sanders during Sunday's loss to San Francisco., The guys also explain what Sanders' future will be if the Browns decide to look for a new head coach.
Munaf Manji and Mackenzie Rivers talk weekend betting action and much more. The guys also discuss the MNF game. The Week 13 Weekend Rewind show opens with Munaf Manji and Mackenzie Rivers reacting to a wild Sunday night game where Denver beat Washington 27–26 in overtime despite constant swings, flags, and late chaos. They credit Marcus Mariota for filling in effectively, though rookie Jaden Daniels is expected back next week. Both agree Washington's two-point try was obvious given their season situation. They note Denver stays atop the AFC West at 10–2 while the Commanders fall despite fighting hard. Mackenzie expects fatigue effects next week because both teams played high-volume offensive snaps. Survivor carnage dominates the middle of the show: Thanksgiving wiped out over 850 entries as every underdog won (Packers over Lions, Cowboys over Chiefs, Bengals over Ravens, Bears over Eagles). They discuss hedging strategy, noting a six-way tie in the Grandissimo contest paid each over $1M. By Sunday only 45 entries remained with one more pending Monday night. Biggest downgrades: Vikings after J.J. McCarthy's disastrous 4-INT outing amid confusion over concussion protocol; Chiefs fall from 5.5-point favorites to 3.5 vs Houston as the market finally stops giving them elite benefit of the doubt; Rams downgraded after losing outright as double-digit favorites to Carolina; Lions downgraded partly due to Goff's slide and Amon-Ra St. Brown's injury. Upgrades: Cowboys after back-to-back wins over Eagles and Chiefs; Jets with Tyrod Taylor playing efficiently and running for the winning TD; Bears dominating the Eagles on the ground and maybe becoming legitimate NFC North contenders; Bengals with Burrow healthy again; Texans improving behind CJ Stroud, rookie receivers, and a defense that continues to outperform expectations. They analyze division markets: AFC South tight among Colts, Jaguars, Texans; NFC East still Eagles-favored but Cowboys lurking; NFC North wide open with Chicago rising. They move to Monday Night Football: Patriots (10–2) vs Giants (2–10). Drake May is surging in MVP odds, and New England has won nine straight with strong defense and Travion Henderson emerging as their lead back. The Giants are better ATS than straight up on the road but struggle to finish games. Munaf likes Henderson's rushing yards over given New York's awful run defense (6.2 YPC allowed, 219 given to Gibbs last week). Mackenzie prefers Drake May under 245.5 passing yards, predicting Vrabel leans on the run. They mention Jackson Dart returning for New York and expect high pass attempts if they fall behind. They wrap with NBA chatter: whether the Thunder can break the 73-win record; Mackenzie predicts around 70–12. They close discussing the 49ers' strong defensive form, Purdy's connection with Kittle, and optimism for San Francisco's division race before signing off with promo codes and reminders for upcoming pods. In this live postgame edition of the Orange and Brown Talk Podcast, Mary Kay Cabot, Ashley Bastock, Lance Reisland and Dan Labbe break down the Browns' 26-8 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. They start by analyzing the performance of rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders in his second start. They discuss the positive takeaways, including a well-thrown touchdown pass to Harold Fannin Jr. and avoiding costly interceptions, while also examining his development and what these final games mean for his future with the team. Can he do enough to prove he's the long-term answer at quarterback? They also touch on the sideline frustration between Sanders and Jerry Jeudy, the team's offensive chemistry issues and the overall sense of a season of missed opportunities. Another major topic of discussion? The continued struggles of the special teams. They detail several critical errors, from a muffed punt to poor returns, that gave the 49ers excellent field position and directly impacted the game's outcome. They explore how these recurring mistakes have cost the Browns multiple games this season, largely wasting a dominant defensive effort. The book is mostly about his ill-fated passage attempting to sail from Victoria, Canada, to the start of the Transpac in San Francisco. During the journey, he experienced falling overboard, taking on water, total loss of his electrical system, great hardship, exhaustion, and a week of hallucinations. In this episode, Andrew tells the story of this journey, starting in Victoria, Canada and finishing with his rescue in Victoria Canada. We talk all about the sailing, his hallucinations, and how the problems might have been prevented. We also talk about Andrew's other interest in physics and his new patent on manufactured gravity. Dr. Melody Glenn was a burned-out emergency physician who had grown to resent the large population of opioid-dependent patients passing through her ER. While working at a methadone clinic, she realized how effective harm reduction treatments could be and set out to discover why they weren't used more broadly. That's when she found Dr. Marie Nyswander. In the 1960s, Dr. Nyswander defied the DEA and medical establishment to co-develop methadone maintenance as a treatment for heroin addiction. According to some addiction specialists, its discovery could be considered as monumental as the discovery of penicillin. Yet, it still carries a stigma today. As the United States continues to struggle with opioid and fentanyl use, Dr. Glenn shares Dr. Nyswander's legacy and important lessons that can be used in dealing with today's addiction crisis. Dr. Melody Glenn is an author and associate professor of addiction and emergency medicine at the University of Arizona. She graduated with her M.D. from The University of Southern California, completed her emergency medicine residency at Maricopa Medical Center, and earned her EMS fellowship from The University of California, San Francisco. Moderator Margaret Juhae Lee is the author of Starry Field: A Memoir of Lost History. She received a Bunting Fellowship from Harvard University and a Korean Studies Fellowship from the Korean Foundation in support of research for her book. As new tools using generative AI promise to change the way we litigate and conduct discovery, what are the implications for day-to-day litigation workflows? On today's episode of LawNext, we feature a conversation with three guests about how law firms are navigating the urgency around gen AI adoption while staying grounded in practical realities. LawNext host Bob Ambrogi recorded this conversation at e-discovery company Everlaw's annual Summit in San Francisco, where gen AI was very much the talk of the conference — from new product announcements to candid discussions about how law firms are actually putting these tools to work. His guests are: Adam Borgman, senior associate in the labor and employment group at Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease. Julie Brown, director of practice technology at Vorys. Joshua Schnoll, Everlaw's chief marketing officer. They talk about how Vorys has taken a disciplined approach to mapping lawyers' workflows before plugging in AI, why understanding how your professionals currently work is the essential first step before adopting new technology, and how tools like Everlaw's newly released Deep Dive are helping attorneys find insights across millions of documents that they might never have discovered on their own – including, as you will hear, a rather unexpected story involving Tums. They also discuss the cost considerations around AI, the trust factor that still gives many lawyers pause, and what advice these experts have for firms that have not yet started experimenting with gen AI. In 2023, the documentary SPELLERS was released, powerfully demonstrating how spelling and typing as AAC methodologies have liberated countless nonspeakers from lives of silence. This was followed in 2024 by Underestimated.tv, which illuminated more profound journeys of nonspeakers after they gained access to open communication. Today, as Executive Director of Spellers Freedom Foundation - a 501(c)(3) public charity - Dawnmarie has expanded her reach far beyond San Diego. The foundation empowers every speller to flourish through access to communication, community-building, and scholarships. She remains equally passionate about ensuring students with alternative communication needs receive age-appropriate curriculum throughout their lifespans, a commitment that has inspired her to pursue a master's degree in educational leadership.
