Some Years Later Mom sent 2 socks to be repaired. Her Knit Picks Felici Zen Socks had a hole in the foot. It was easy to repair with a bit of yarn. I washed them and they're ready to give back. I only finished these in May 2022, right before Mother's Day so these haven't held up very well. Click here for my Ravelry Project Page. I also did a blanket repair on a knitted blanket a friend's mother asked me to fix. I was assuming it was crochet, so the fact that it was knitted was a surprise. The section that was torn was part of a very long strip of knitting that was knit on the bias, so it was a little tricky but it was in garter stitch and I did a good job of pulling the stitches back up. Its not 100% invisible, but I'm happy with it. I have it washed and ready to return. Crafty Adventures Resin adventures with Gayle & Meagan for their Bucket List with a Twist. Grateful for my own craft room with a comfy chair in a cool part of the house. Perfect for isolating and making sure Dan didn't get sick. I did go outside a bit on the weekend days. Dan brought up my wheel. I still spent a lot of time lying down between projects but it was nice to get out. I missed our nephew's 16th birthday pool party, though, so that was a bummer. Jeff was able to get an extra ticket for me to join he and Riley to see Lainey Wilson at the Mohegan Sun casino on Friday night! We had dinner, loved the show, got a cool Watermelon Moonshine Stanley Tumbler, and then I slept over at their house. Hung out with Riley & Millie in the morning, singing Hamilton as Riley made us homemade waffles. Please forgive some audio issues on Nicole's side. This month Nicole and Monica listened to Every Heart a Doorway, a novella written by Seanan McGuire and read by Cynthia Hopkins. It a murder mystery set at a school for teens who have returned to our world from portal worlds and desperately want to go back to them. We talked about fantasy novellas, content for and about teens, aesthetics and world building, and how much exposition and explanations should a story have. In part two of age of sail duology there is real actual queer content, not just in our hearts. This month Nicole and Monica watched the first seasons of the HBO series Our Flag Means Death. It's a series that's very interested in playing with sitcom tropes, and is focused on a romance between Stede Bonnet, former landed gentry who has run away from home, and Ed, who is Blackbeard, who's extremely tired of his own hype. Nicole knit Fred and George Socks by Rosemary Waits, and Monica knit Love Note by Tin Can Knits and Foliage Hat by Irina Dmitrieva. What I'm Jonesing For:Jill has a couple shawls that she likes, Pressed Flowers by Amy Christoffers and Tremolo by Claire Slade. She loves the Plumetis by Julie Knits in Paris, Paragon by Sylvia Watts-Cherry and Kari by Natasja Hornby. In this episode we talk about ripped off designers Lisa Grossman (The Tsarina of Tsocks) and Emma Bermudez through internet fast fashion listings like these, as well as the ripped off designers Bailey Prado (instagram), Mela Gonzales, and Elexiay; all of whom face enormous hurdles to do anything about it according to NPR. We also cover the Fiberista Club scandal (Ravelry thread), and a happy ending with Dye Hard Yarns. Plus some surprising examples of embezzling in the industry, including a LYS (Knit With Yarn Shop) that tried to fight the good fight (court documents). Plus Ashley brings us a breaking fiber theft news story! Natalie is still working on her super secret test knit for Jennifer Brou. Ashley has cast on Nightshift by Andrew Mowry with Spincycle yarn, and is still working on Flax by Tin Can Knits with Goosey Fibers yarn. Natalie made delicious Shreddies trail mix bars, and Ashley is consuming east coast Girl Scouts thin mints.

This month Nicole and Monica listened to Barbarian Alien, the audio version of the second book in Ruby Dixon's Ice Planet Barbarians sci-fi romance series, narrated by Hollie Jackson and Mason Lloyd. There's lots of laughter, along with explicit talk about sex and swearing, two jerks falling in love, and Nicole keeps getting sidetracked into the larger Ice Planet Barbarians lore.
