Land reclamation is often promoted as a driver of economic growth, but it's also one of the most controversial forms of development, with lasting impacts on the environment, coastal communities, and traditional livelihoods. Now, a recent Court of Appeal judgment involving the Penang South Islands reclamation project has sparked a new debate, not just about the environmental impacts of reclamation, but about who has the legal authority to approve it in the first place. Although the appeal against the project was dismissed, the court's written judgment has prompted environmental groups to question whether the proper legal authority existed to approve reclamation over Malaysia's territorial sea and seabed. They argue the issues raised go far beyond Penang and could have implications for how future reclamation projects are governed across the country. Joining us to unpack what the ruling means, why civil society groups are still calling for answers, and what this could mean for the future of coastal development, is filmmaker and Programme Coordinator for Jaringan Ekologi dan Iklim, or JEDI, Andrew Han.*Watch Andrew's film “Doa Seorang Nelayan” here.Image Credit: Jaringan Ekologi dan Iklim FacebookSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Your energy is the most precious commodity in the universe. Your life force defines how you navigate this third-dimensional plane. Therefore, deciding to play life's energy roulette wisely is of utmost importance. We've been misled into believing that time, money, power, and control are the key ingredients to shaping our physical reality. Once you step aside the treadmill, you know, you've bought into the crunchy illusion of a world limited by your perception. Whether Earth is a ‘Waiting Room', a battlefield, or a mere chaotic place where humans try to figure out who they are and what their purpose is, your level of energy will have a direct effect on how you move on life's chessboard. Feeling drained and lacking the energy to get out of bed, play with your children, build a business, pursue your hobbies, or go after your dreams is anything but healthy. And when we ‘normalize' this state and call it ‘OK,' we're doing ourselves, the people we love, and our communities a huge disservice. Humans are not zombies. We are powerful, energetic beings, equipped with a plethora of talents and gifts. We are here to create and use our unique blueprints to protect this beautiful planet. When the Jedi Doesn't Succumb to An Insane Society Lost. Glued to a screen. Wondering shoeless-clueless. Lacking self-worth. Expecting answers from a silicon machine. This is definitely not who we are, nor why we're here. You see, when your energy is high, you are unstoppable. You chase your dreams relentlessly. You love and serve your brothers and sisters unselfishly. Furthermore, you enjoy life by living fully in the present moment and experiencing bliss. This translates into: Taking care of your physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual body. Nourishing your sacred temple, aka your body, with clean food and water. Exercising regularly to strengthen your energetic field. Getting good-quality sleep to recharge your batteries fully. Finding inner peace by bathing in stillness. Turning inwards to allow intuition, aka that deep knowing, to reveal the blind spots and what your eyes can't see. Remembering to breathe deeply and release energy blockages. Is this place a maze? A highly sophisticated labyrinth? Is energy being harvested? It's a possibility. However, that doesn't make you a less powerful player or a Jedi to reckon with. Master Your Energy. Build. Create. Live Passionately. Nobody is coming to save you. You are the one you've been waiting for. The sooner this gets into your head, the better. Reclaim your freedom and sovereignty in a world gone crazy. Step up your game. Sit down and define specifically what it is you want to achieve, accomplish, and build. You're here to create. Stop giving your power away. Stop asking for permission to deploy your talents, skills, and knowledge. Stop looking for outside factors and validators to fill your perceived vacuum of self-worth, self-confidence, and self-respect. You're not broken despite the many times you've been tricked into believing you are. Go inwards. Drop into your heart. Know that you are a miracle. Now, get off your ass, Jedi, and show yourself what you've got. Krisz Rokk Original content without using AI. By the time the paper hit version 71, Dr. Nirosha Murugan had already done the hard part. The data were real. The experiment had worked. A team of researchers had used a wearable bioreactor to trigger limb regeneration in frogs, a result with obvious implications for regenerative medicine. But the science still wasn't getting over the line. The problem wasn't the work. It was the translation. On this episode of Standard Deviation, host Oliver Bogler talks with Dr. Nirosha Murugan, a biophysicist and Tier II Canada Research Chair in Tissue Biophysics at Wilfrid Laurier University, about what happens when a scientist working at the edges of quantum biology, bioelectricity, and tissue regeneration runs headfirst into the unwritten rules of academic publishing. Murugan's research asks biologists to think beyond molecules and chemistry alone, and to consider the physical signals, electromagnetic fields, and invisible forces that shape development and healing. It is ambitious science. It is also exactly the kind of work that can make gatekeepers nervous.Bogler follows Murugan through the less glamorous part of discovery: the hidden curriculum of getting a paper published, securing scientific credibility, and learning that data do not simply “speak for themselves.” Murugan describes how jargon buried the pitch of her own work, how a lack of editorial support left her at a disadvantage, and how the JEDI program at the Life Science Editors Foundation paired her with a former journal editor who taught her how to structure a manuscript, write a cover letter, and survive peer review. The result was publication in Science Advances, but the larger story is about power. Who gets taught the rules of biomedical research. Who has access to grant writers, editors, and institutional polish. Who is left to brute-force their way through the maze. And how one scientist, having finally found the map, now makes sure her own trainees do not have to learn it the hard way.RELATED LINKSDr. Nirosha MuruganWilfrid Laurier UniversityLife Science Editors FoundationJEDI ProgramScience Advances paper on limb regenerationFEEDBACKLike this episode? Also discussed are the political, structural, and philosophical shifts that led to their fall, offering new perspectives on the prequel era.Key Topics: Jedi influence versus independence - political pressure and systemic change - the role of Order 66 in the Jedi's fall - the impact of the Clone Wars on Jedi identity - Palpatine's manipulation and observation of the Jedi - structural pressures leading to decline.Takeaways: The Jedi were at their peak in influence but not independence sent; political and systemic pressure is gradually eroded Jedi authority; Order 66 was the culmination of a slow decline, not the start; the Clone Wars shifted Jedi roles from peacekeepers to soldiers; Palpatine's strategic observation was key to their downfall!Subscribe, rate and leave us a 5-star written review on Apple Podcasts, Deepcast.fm, Spotify or GoodPods. The Stranded Tie Pilot Who Didn't Know the Empire Lost - Star Wars ExplainedHe fought in the Battle of Yavin, watched the Death Star explode over his head, and then never found out his side lost. His name is Qorl, a TIE pilot shot down onto the fourth moon of Yavin during the battle that destroyed the first Death Star. His squadron is torn apart, his ship goes down, his arm is broken, and the last order he ever receives is to land and wait for rescue. So he waits. For over twenty years. Alone in the jungle, one arm useless, he carves a shelter from a burned-out Massassi tree, rigs plumbing from reeds, builds tools from wood and gourds, and survives, still telling himself he's a soldier on active duty waiting for an Empire...that no longer exists. Then Han and Leia's twins, Jacen and Jaina Solo, stumble onto his crashed TIE fighter while training at Luke Skywalker's academy, and Qorl takes them prisoner to force them to repair it. His plan after two decades is to fly home and return as a war hero to a government that's been gone since before these kids were born. When Jaina tries a Jedi mind trick on him, it bounces off, since his mind is so rigid- it feels less human and more droid, which is kind of a cool concept to become impenetrable to Jedi Mind Tricks. They tell him the war is over, that Darth Vader and the Emperor are dead, and he refuses to believe a single word. To him the Empire cannot die. This is the story of the last man still fighting the Battle of Yavin. From the Young Jedi Knights novel, Heirs of the Force by Kevin J. Qui-Gon Jinn had a girlfriend. Her name was Tahl, a Jedi Knight he trained with, and in the old Jedi Apprentice books he falls for her, breaks the Jedi Order's rule against attachment, and lies about it to everyone including himself. It starts with a vision of her in danger that he hides from the Council and from her. I covered this in a video almost 8 or 9 years ago. When she goes undercover on a dangerous mission alone, he defies the Jedi Council to chase her across the galaxy, years before he ever defies them over Anakin. On the planet he finally admits the truth, that she isn't just a friend or a fellow Jedi, she's his heart, and the two of them pledge themselves to each other against everything they're supposed to be. Then the trap closes. Tahl is taken, and across the books that follow, the loss pulls Qui-Gon to the edge of the dark side for revenge. It's the same trap that takes Anakin down, and Qui-Gon lived it first. This is yet another example of how amazing Qui-Gon Jinn would have been to help Anakin Skywalker through his life and guide him in all his struggles with his Mother and Padme. It's been a long time since the "Star Wars" trilogy of movies exploded into our popular culture like, well, like Darth Vader's Death Star. Millions of people developed a fascination for the adventures of Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Princess Leia, and, of course, the infamous Darth Vader. Hero Luke Skywalker became a Jedi knight and he learned the power of what was called The Force. Darth Vader, who was the villain, had mastered the power of the "dark side" of The Force. And then, decades later, a new "Star Wars" trilogy began, telling the story of the events that preceded the original episodes. So there's not Luke or Han or Princess Leia for a while, but guess what was still there? Yeah, The Force. And in subsequent movies, of course, still there. And what is The Force? No one's really sure, but it seems to be the spiritual power you can tap into to help you win your battles. I'm Ron Hutchcraft, and I want to have A Word With You today about “Star Wars - And Our Wars.” Spiritual power you can harness to help you win battles that you can't win with your own resources - that's actually a pretty interesting idea. Of course, our battles aren't about storm troopers or villains with light sabers. No, we're trying to make a marriage work, to beat the monsters of anger, depression, addiction, selfishness, or loneliness. We battle real challenges, not computer-animated fantasy foes. And as you face the battles raging around you right now - maybe even in you right now - you're having to admit that they are bigger than you are. Actually, there is inside us a deep desire for some power - some spiritual power really - beyond our own to enable us to be the man or woman we desperately want and need to be. But we need something better than The Force. That's a fictional, impersonal spiritual energy that only the spiritually elite can tap into. Our biggest struggles are actually against the "dark side" that's inside us. In our word for today from the Word of God, one of the writers of the Bible spoke about our dark side when he said, "For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do...I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out...it is sin living in me that does it." And then he speaks for all of us who battle our dark side when he says, "Who will rescue me?" (Romans 7:15, 20, 24) Thankfully, the Bible doesn't leave us there. The answer follows. "Thanks be to God - through Jesus Christ our Lord!" The "force" that we need to conquer the dark side is actually a Person - Jesus Christ, the One who gave His life on a cross to pay the death penalty for all the sinning we've ever done. His act of deep love for you and me broke the power that sin has had over the human race since the first man and woman took their lives into their own hands. We don't need some impersonal force or spirituality that doesn't really help us. We need a living Savior! That's what we need. The power of Jesus is demonstrated, above all else, by His empty grave there on Easter morning. He walked out of His grave under His own power! Now, look, if He can conquer death, the darkness that has stopped every person who has ever lived, He can sure conquer the darkness inside you! Jesus says to those who belong to Him, "All power is given to Me in heaven and earth...and I am with you always" (Matthew 28:18, 20). Man! Wow! He's the spiritual power you need to win your battles. He is the love you've been looking for all your life, and Jesus becomes your Savior from your sin when you tell Him you're putting your life into His nail-scarred hands. You can do that today when you tell Him, “Jesus, I'm Yours.” Then check out our website because the information you'll need to understand and confirm this is right there. It's ANewStory, com. Look, your battles have probably left you pretty wounded and pretty tired. The dark side has won long enough; it's hurt enough people. You don't ever have to fight those battles alone again, my friend. Jesus Christ - the Creator of every faraway galaxy - stands ready to fight for you from that moment that you open up to His amazing love.

Highlights about the Batmobile & it's Origins; all the way covering the dynamic characters in the Show! We next pivot across to the Ground-Breaking Toy-line that was Kenner Super Powers. In the vast universe of Star Wars, the Jedi have long been viewed as the guardians of peace and justice. On paper, the Jedi Order seemed to be thriving during the prequel trilogy with thousands of members and significant presence. Within the Galactic Republic, they appeared to wield immense influence. Instead, some became entangled in a system, that often compromises their core values. The Jedi order faced internal divisions that stemmed from differing opinions about Anakin Skywalker, the chosen one. This lack of consensus, created an environment of uncertainty that permeated The Order. With the rise of Palpatine and the shifting tides of power, the Jedi‘s role became increasingly ambiguous.
