This week, another special road trip episode featuring world renowned dobro and guitar Jedi duo Rob Ickes & Trey Hensley recorded live at the 2024 Walnut Valley Festival in Winfield, Kansas. The annual Walnut Valley Festival, now in it's 53rd season, is one of the oldest and most respected acoustic music festivals in the world. Held at the Winfield, Kansas fairgrounds, more than 30 musical acts will perform on four separate stages, presenting over 200 hours of live music. Also, there is a dedicated contest stage where contestants vie for national and international championships in Finger Style Guitar, Flat Pick Guitar, Bluegrass Banjo, Old Time Fiddle, Mandolin, Mountain Dulcimer, Hammered Dulcimer, and Autoharp. There is a juried arts and crafts fair, exhibits by renowned instrument makers and music shops, family activities, a bevy of food vendors, a farmer's market and even a pub! An unusual aspect of Walnut Valley is its campground tradition. Campsites are not reserved and campers line up to claim a choice campsite during the "Land Rush.” Walnut Valley Festival goers often bring their own musical instruments to participate in the sometimes all night campground jam sessions. Bands like Old Sound and Sally & The Hurts that began as "Jam Bands" in the campgrounds, have even been invited to perform at the festival. Take a 15-time IBMA (International Bluegrass Music Association) Dobro Player of the Year and a Tennessee-born guitar prodigy who made his Grand Ole Opry debut at the age of 11 and you have Rob Ickes and Trey Hensley, a powerhouse acoustic duo that has electrified the acoustic music scene. Known for their white-hot picking, stone country vocals with soul and world class live musicianship, Ickes and Hensley meld together blues, bluegrass, country, rock and other string band music of all kinds to form a signature blend of music that defies restrictions of genre. They are equally at home on stages of prestigious performing arts centers, theatres and the Grand Ole Opry as they are on Americana, jamgrass, bluegrass and jam band festivals. Ickes co-founded the highly influential bluegrass group Blue Highway and has been a sought-after Nashville session player and live performing musician for decades. Hensley has been called “Nashville's hottest young player” by Acoustic Guitar magazine and his soulful baritone vocals have received acclaim as well. - https://www.robandtrey.com/about-the-band/ In this week's “From the Vault” segment, OHR producer Jeff Glover offers a 2016 archival recording of Ozark originals Bobby Glendy & Ruthie Haney performing the classic A.P. Carter song “You are my Flower,” from the Ozark Folk Center State Park archives. In his segment “Back in the Hills,” writer, professor and historian Dr. Brooks Blevins presents the final episode of his series recounting the history of the ill-fated Ozarkland Jamboree, a 1960's country music variety show based in Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas that never made it on the air.

MIN 4: IT: BIENVENIDOS A DARRY.

Mike has an intense encounter with a mysterious cosplayer. by AlexRaistov, Listen to the Podcast at Steamy Stories. The con has been fairly packed this year. And now that they're getting some big name guests, like Doctor Who's Matt Smith and Alex Kingston are here. I think it's going to give Fan Expo Boston a run for its money. Hell, maybe even New York ComiCon. I think the fact that the convention center is connected to the hotel is a huge advantage. The contest was at 2pm this afternoon, so I wanted to head over and register early. Making my way through the crowds, I got stopped a couple of times to do the “Gaston Pose” with the Wolverine claws popped out. There was even a couple dressed as Beauty and the Beast, so we got a couple of pics together. I'll text them to you later. Needless to say I got there later than I expected, so I was second to last in line. But it was fine because while I was waiting my turn to go up on stage, I found myself chatting with a dude from New York who was up with his buddy for the weekend. The guy was dressed as mashup of Deadpool and Eleven from Stranger Things. It was hysterical: a full Deadpool costume but with a blonde wig and dress. We got to talking about the con and cosplaying and after a few minutes he said with a chuckle, “Dude, be careful. I think the local law enforcement is checking you out.” I gave him a strange look because I had no fucking clue what he was talking about. He motioned with his head and I turned around. So picture this: two girls, both in variations of the ‘Slave Leia' bikini from ‘Return of the Jedi.' One girl's costume was all white and she was wearing a Stormtrooper helmet. The other was in all black, wearing a Darth Vader mask and a flowing cape. And holy shit their bodies were fucking amazing. You know I've always been a boob man. Both girls were easily 32-34B and their brassieres were doing a wonderful job of highlighting their fantastic assets. Both of them had stunning hourglass figures. When ‘Madame Vader' turned and leaned in to say something to her Stormtrooper, it was pretty clear by the amount of skin she was showing, there was most likely nothing under the long black loincloth. I watched as the Stormtrooper nodded to something ‘Madame Vader' said. At this point I didn't know what else to call her. She then lifted her prop gun and started walking in our direction. “You're in for it now man,” said Eleven Deadpool. The sexy Stormtrooper came right up to me and pointed her weapon. “You. Rebel Scum,” she barked, “You're to come with me immediately.” I raised my eyebrow, my cigar jammed firmly in my teeth. I figured what the hell, if we were gonna do this, have fun with it. “Rebel scum?” I growled, “Sweetheart, do I look like rebel scum to you?” The trooper pressed the nozzle of her weapon into my chest. “Now.” I glanced over to Eleven Deadpool who shrugged, “Don't look at me man. I'm a mercenary, remember?” I leaned in towards the Stormtrooper and grunted, “You know, no one fights like Gaston. And with these claws I bet it would be an interesting fight. But okay, I'm game.” As I stepped away from the line, I heard my new friend shout, “Vaya Con Dios, my son! Go with God.” The Stormtrooper led me over to 'Madame Vader' who had her hands on her curvy hips. I also got a chance to admire her thigh-high black boots, laced up the front with buckles going up the sides. She had a black belt around her waist which hung a light saber hilt. As I got closer and saw a tan line on her exposed hip, I was convinced more than ever that she was wearing nothing underneath. 'Madame Vader' looked at me from head to toe. “Something I can do for you?” I said in my best Hugh Jackman voice. For a moment she stood there silently. I almost expected to hear the raspy Vader breathing. “You!” she said finally in a commanding but very sultry voice, “will follow me. There will be no questions. Is that understood?” So okay, you know I don't like games or bullshit or anything like that. But there was something about this situation…I'm just gonna say it: I got rock hard. I swore my dick was going to explode out of my pants. Again, I can practically hear you laughing. But we've always been pretty open about this kind of shit, so obviously I'm not going to stop now. Anyway, I rubbed my scruffy chin, (careful not to poke myself with my claws, and took the cigar out of my mouth. “You're Jedi mind tricks ain't working here, sister,” I snarled, “But I'll play along for now.” Without another word, she turned, her cloak sweeping behind her. I felt a poke in my back: the Stormtrooper was nudging me to start moving. I followed 'Madame Vader' around a large curtain that led to behind the stage. From there we walked to a set of doors that led to a maintenance corridor. Now I'm not going to lie, this was all starting to make me a little bit nervous. Sexy as these two were, I had no idea who they were, what they looked like under their helmets or what was really going on. I was just about to say enough is enough and head back into the main convention floor when we stopped in front of another door marked “storage.” 'Madame Vader' reached down with one of her gloved hands and pulled down on the handle, opening the door. “Inside,” she commanded. I looked at her and the Stormtrooper, who appeared to be setting up for guard duty. I shrugged and stepped inside. The room was full of stacked chairs and folding tables. One table was set up with a few chairs around it. There were some papers on top of it. My guess is some of the Con organizers had probably used this room for planning the floor layout. The door closed and it was just me and 'Madame Vader' in the room. As she walked past me, her hands lifted up and unlocked the chain holding her cape together. She let it drop to the floor. With the cloak gone, I was able to get a better look at her body. The thin straps of her black brassiere didn't fully cover her tan lines, so I could tell she definitely enjoyed spending time in the sun. She was also more toned than I realized, though her hips still had a very lovely curve to them. Sure enough, the rear loincloth, which had up until now been hidden by her cape, was a little bit narrower than the front one, and her amazing ass, cheeks were poking out ever so slightly on either side. With her still to me, she turned her masked head slightly. “I understand no one fights like Gaston,” she said, continuing with a deep, ominous voice. “So I hear,” I replied gruffly. “I wonder,” she said with a dramatic pause, “if no one fucks like Gaston?” Now you know it takes a hell of a lot to throw me for a loop and leave me speechless. But there I was, eyes wide and my mouth partially open in shock. 'Madame Vader' removed her gloves, revealing black nail polish on perfectly manicured fingers. “No response?” she mused, “Well perhaps not in words. But other parts of you appear to,” she pointed at my bulging crotch, “be speaking for themselves.” Now let me just remind you, she was still wearing that fucking helmet. I literally had no idea who this person was. And, God help me, I was turned on like never before. She walked over and sat on the edge of the folding table, her legs spread and the black loincloth falling between them. Slowly she lifted the cloth to the side, confirming what I had all but surmised from the minute I saw her. Her bare pussy was now right there for me to see. Her puffy pink lips were wide open, glistening and extremely inviting. “This is fucking crazy.” I said aloud. “The door is right behind you,” 'Madame Vader' replied nonchalantly, “My guard is only outside to ensure we are not disturbed. If you wish to leave you can at any time.” She reached down between her legs and spread her pussy lips wider while her fingers began to explore her tantalizing, wet hole. “Alternatively, you could come over here, eat me out and then bend me over this table and fuck me from behind.” So again, you know it takes a lot to stun me. And believe me, I was stunned. But I'm also not fucking stupid. I removed my gloves with the Wolverine claws built in and set them on the closest chair next to me. I then made my way over to the table and sank to my knees in front of 'Madame Vader.' I inhaled the wonderful, sweet musky smell that was coming from her pussy. I was just about to dive in when I stopped and looked up at her, “I don't suppose you're taking that off, are you?” “Are you going to ask questions that you already know the answer to, or are you going to begin,” she said ominously. I shook my head, “No ma'am.” I replied and dove into her beautiful, wet slit. I let my tongue casually explore her red pussy lips, enjoying the sweet and savory flavor. There was an aching moan from under the mask. “More,” she whimpered, dropping the authoritative tone in her voice. My tongue began to flick up and down quickly. Her hands slammed down and gripped the edge of the table as she began to grind her pelvis in my face. I brought my hand up to my mouth and paused my licking just briefly to lick my thumb. As I resumed, I let my thumb slip into the upper folds of her slit, searching for her clit. It wasn't hard to find – it was like a small cherry pit, hard and inviting. Her breaths came shallow and for a moment I wondered if she was going to pass out under the helmet. “Please,” she begged without the slightest hint of any of her former bravado, “Oh God, I'm so close.” My thumb kept playing with her pulsing button as I licked feverishly. After several more seconds I withdrew my thumb and attacked her clit directly with my tongue. That was the right move to push her right over the edge. “Oh my god oh my god oh my God,” she cried under her mask, “I'm coming. Oh Jesus yes! Yes!” Her body convulsed and contorted as my face was showered by her intense orgasm. I kept lapping though, enjoying the sweet juices slicking her thighs and my face. Slowly, her tremors began to subside as she leaned back onto her elbows on the table. I stood up over her. “Are you sure you don't want to take that mask off?” I asked, genuinely concerned. “I,” she stammered, still slightly out of breath, “I like it this way.” She shifted forward off the table and stood in front of me. “And now,” she said, trying to regain some of her earlier in-character composure, “I believe you have another service to provide.” She reached forward and unbuckled my costume belt, letting it drop to the floor. She then lifted up my shirt slightly and undid my pants. Her fingers grasped the fabric of both my pants and underwear and pulled down, freeing my throbbing and aching cock. “Excellent.” 'Madame Vader' said with a slight nod, “I was right to choose you.” She turned around and bent over the table, resting on her forearms. I took a step forward and lifted the rear loincloth of her costume, exposing a perfectly tanned ass (string bikinis for the win). I adjusted my position, spread her cheeks slightly and guided myself into her soaking wet hole. Her pussy lips wrapped perfectly around the head of my cock and we stayed in that position for a moment. Then slowly I inched forward until I was completely buried inside her. “Yes,” she hissed softly. I placed my hands on her hips and began slow, rhythmic motions. She was so wet, every thrust was a silky smooth ride. But I could still feel her pussy walls constrict around my shaft every time I moved back and forth. Her body began to match my movements, her ass and pelvis pushing backwards against me. There was a brief moment when I was extremely tempted to reach forward and attempt to knock the helmet off her head. Would she stop this incredible moment or were we too far gone that she wouldn't care? But the sound of her ass slapping against my lower abdomen shook me out of the thought. “Fuck it,” I think I said out loud as I increased the speed of my thrusts. “Yes baby,” she cried, “Yes, god yes. Come for me baby. Come inside me.” Before I could protest, she added, “It's fine. I'm protected. Just come. Come deep inside me, please!” I continued pumping her pussy until I felt that familiar tingling sensation at the base of my cock. I started tensing up, “Oh fuck, I'm coming!” I thrust one final time and stayed there as far in her as I could while my sperm erupted from my dick, filling the depths of her pussy. She gasped, “Oh god, I can feel you filling me up so much!” She wasn't kidding, because just a few seconds later I felt the wonderful mix of her juices and my cum spilling out of her pussy. I took a step back, then pivoted so that I was leaning against the table next to her. “That was,” I gasped, still trying to guess what she looked like under the mask, “insane.” Slowly, she rose off the table, the loincloth slipping back down on its own to cover her bare ass. “Seriously,” I said, watching as she silently stepped over to pick up her cloak and gloves, “please tell me who the hell you are. Or that we can meet up again?” She made her way to the door and stopped. Her hands slowly made their way up towards her helmet and grasped it on both sides. And then they dropped back down. “If you find me,” came the ominous voice from under the mask, “then we will see.” She opened the door, where I caught a glimpse of her friend waiting, and slipped out. The door closed behind her, leaving me in the room in a daze with my pants half way down my legs and my flaccid, wet dick now feeling the chill of the storage room's air conditioning. Realizing there was no one outside guarding the room anymore, I quickly zipped up, gathered my costume accessories and got the fuck out of the room. I stumbled into the hallway and made my way quickly back to the convention hall. Naturally neither girl was anywhere to be seen in a crowd of other cosplayers and attendees. I made my way out of the convention center, back through to the hotel and came up to my room. And that's where I am right now. Like I said, I tried calling you. And then I opened my tablet and started writing. Needless to say I have no clue who won the cosplay contest. Maybe Deadpool/Eleven. And of course I can hear you saying, “I think I pretty much 'won' anyway!” LOL But seriously, I have to find her again. There's two more days left to the con. I'll keep you posted, cuz. Love ya! Shirzad Chamine experienced a traumatic childhood, raised in Iran by a father who was full of a frightening rage. Following high school, Shirzad decided to move to the United States and make his future there. Along the way, he heard an inner whisper telling him to make a positive influence on a worldwide scale. After a variety of education experience, he developed innovative theories that resulted in the New York Times bestselling book, Positive Intelligence. In this Blue Sky episode, you'll learn more about Shirzad Chamine's remarkable life and inspiring work. Chapters: 00:00 Welcome Shirzad Chamine Shirzad shares his early childhood in Iran, a turbulent upbringing with a rage-filled father, and how this traumatic experience later became a gift. 01:43 The Whispers of a World Stage Shirzad recounts his journey to the U.S. seeking new possibilities and the powerful whisper in his heart that guided him towards transforming millions of lives. This whisper, present since childhood, fueled his pursuit of a path to make a significant impact on the world stage. 05:19 From Psychology to Engineering to Business Shirzad discusses his unconventional educational path and explains how his disillusionment with the 'California New Age' approach to therapy led him to seek a more rational and scientific method for understanding and changing human lives. 08:30 The Birth of the Saboteur: The Judge Shirzad shares a pivotal moment at Stanford Business School where classmates' feedback about his judgmental nature led to a profound epiphany. This realization birthed the concept of the 'Judge' saboteur, a character in his mind that constantly finds fault with others and himself, sabotaging his relationships and self-perception. 12:51 Saboteurs and Sage: The Inner War Shirzad explains how his childhood experiences and the Stanford epiphany led to the development of the Positive Intelligence framework, which describes an internal war between inner saboteurs and the inner sage. 16:09 The Root Cause Operating System Shirzad critiques traditional coaching for failing to create lasting habits and treating symptoms rather than root problems. He introduces his 'root cause operating system' derived from factor analysis research, identifying 10 saboteurs (negative response factors) and 5 sage powers (positive Jedi powers) that optimize well-being and performance. 20:44 Sustained Transformation with the PQ App Shirzad explains that despite the book's success, readers often reverted to old habits because insights don't build mental muscle. 25:43 Understanding and Managing Your Saboteurs Bill Burke and Shirzad discuss the 'Pleaser' and 'Avoider' saboteurs, explaining how saboteurs are overused natural strengths. 30:44 Don't Judge the Judge: Quieting Saboteurs Shirzad emphasizes that saboteurs never fully disappear but can be diminished from a 'megaphone to a whisper' through consistent practice. 38:05 Performance and Saboteurs Shirzad explains how saboteurs impact performance, using a basketball analogy to show how self-doubt can cause choking in critical moments. 44:31 Normalizing Saboteurs in Teams Shirzad discusses how leaders can create a more effective team environment by openly sharing their saboteurs. By normalizing imperfection, teams can move past defensiveness and foster authentic communication, leading to better collaboration and problem-solving. 49:04 The Shift to Compassion Shirzad describes his personal transformation from a judgmental mindset to one of deep compassion, driven by rewiring his brain through mental fitness practices. 52:52 Mission for Mental Fitness Shirzad shares his mission to bring mental fitness education to humanity, starting in schools, believing it could transform society by equipping future generations with tools to manage their minds.

The Jedi sought to control their emotions. Luke Skywalker mastered them through compassion. In this episode, I explore how Star Wars reflects the core tension in Stoicism — the balance between discipline and humanity. We'll examine Yoda's flawed advice, the Jedi's dogmatism, and why Luke's compassion made him the most Stoic of them all.

In this episode, we explore how the galaxy's defenders adapt to a new kind of battlefield — one without clarity, without trust, and maybe without hope. Alliances strain. Morality bends. Also, ganz viel Spaß! In zwei Wochen bin ich dann aber auch wieder ganz normal zurück mit einer neuen Folge Deutschland3000. Übrigens auch was für Fans von einer bestimmten Serie: Eine Schauspielerin wird bei mir zu Gast sein. So viel verrate ich schon mal. Jetzt aber erst mal viel Spaß mit „Battle of the Nerds“. Habt ihr Lust bekommen? Ab jetzt gibt es in den nächsten vier Wochen jeden Donnerstag eine neue Folge: https://1.ard.de/BattleOfTheNerds
He once wore a ninja mask on our show. Now, he's back, unmasked, unapologetic, and wielding ancient energies like a multidimensional Jedi. In this mind-expanding episode of The Skeptic Metaphysicians, we welcome back Benton Ryer, a shamanic energy healer, occult practitioner, and author of The Shores of Eternity. But this time, he's stepping out of the shadows to talk openly about his powerful healing work, and even leads us through a live on-air healing session you'll feel through your speakers. From purging unseen energies to confronting hidden trauma stored in the body, Benton explains the mysterious Japanese system of Ko Shinto, a long-forgotten spiritual tradition that clears energetic impurities at a depth most modalities can't touch. He opens up about how he helped Will during his cancer journey, how most people won't accept healing when it's offered, and why skepticism often masks deeper spiritual resistance. Whether you're curious, skeptical, or already a believer in the unseen realms, this is one episode you won't forget. Who Is Benton Ryer?Author of The Shores of Eternity: A Memoir of SorceryKo Shinto practitioner specializing in purification ritesFormer masked guest known for nightly energy healing sessions on InstagramMartial artist with a background in Judo and Japanese esotericismNow based in Japan, continuing his spiritual studiesWhat You'll Discover in This EpisodeWhy Benton hid his identity during his first interview, and why he's now ready to be seenHow he works with ancient Japanese spirits (the kabi) to clear dense, parasitic energiesWhat really happens in a Ko Shinto purification, and why it's not the same as ReikiThe dangers of spiritual arrogance and why most “healers” aren't doing the real workThe energetic parasites that attach to gifted people, and why Benton says even your spirit guides may not be what they seemHis thoughts on “occult” being misunderstood as “evil”, and why his work is anything butA deeply moving moment: Benton shares how he worked on Will during cancer, and how the results stunned his doctorsThe truth about why so many people reject healing, even when they're in painWhy This Episode Matters This isn't your typical energy healer story. Benton Ryer bridges mysticism and martial discipline with raw honesty, biting humor, and zero sugarcoating. He doesn't just talk about healing, he demonstrates it, live. If you've ever been curious about the real mechanics of energy clearing… If you've felt like you've done “all the things” but still feel stuck… If you're ready to explore spiritual truths that don't fit into neat boxes… Then this episode will shake your assumptions, and maybe even clear your field. Bonus Alert! The full healing session Benton performed live during this episode will be released as a BONUS standalone episode on Monday! An icon of 20th Century American humor, Jack Benny started as a violinist who would use comedy to save himself from bombing. He ended up as a legendary comedian who used the violin as one part of an indelible comic character. Vain, stingy, and eternally 39, Jack became a hit in the 1930s on the then-new medium of radio. He turned that into a stellar movie and television career -- earning himself three stars on Hollywood's Walk of Fame -- one each for movies, radio, and television. Benny was also part of Hollywood's comedy old guard with friends ranging from Bob Hope and Johnny Carson to Benny's long-time best bud George Burns. Benny is often cited as the Jedi master of comic timing -- he could bring down the house with just a glance, a shrug, or a perfectly timed "Well!" Ten years ago, Bryan Young did an exhaustive multi-part story about the NPR Star Wars Radio Dramas for Star Wars Insider Magazine, but so much of the interviews that were conducted had to be left on the cutting room floor. One of the best was with Tom Voegeli. From the Full of Sith Archives, Bryan presents this interview with the post-production supervisor for all three Star Wars radio dramas producer by National Public Radio.
The sea around Skellig Michael never rests. Waves slam the cliffs like a heartbeat, and mist rises from the rocks like breath from some sleeping giant. Eight miles off the Kerry coast, this jagged island looks less like a piece of earth and more like a fragment of another world. More than a thousand years ago, monks climbed 600 stone steps to live here, chasing silence, prayer, and the edge of heaven. Today, visitors come for the same reason, though they may not know it. Whether you're drawn by faith, history, or a galaxy far, far away, Skellig has a way of making you listen to what the sea remembers. And that's where today's story begins — between exile and return, faith and freedom, stone and surf. Because sometimes, we're all just trying to find our way back to the ocean. With Music from Niamh Dunne, Wolf Loescher, and Jocelyn Pettit & Ellen Gira. This is Quest & Chorus #309 0:58 - Niamh Dunne "Ballyneety's Walls" from Portraits 4:17 - WELCOME TO QUEST & CHORUS Welcome to Quest & Chorus, where every wave might carry a myth, and every exile still dreams of home. I'm your bard, Marc Gunn, also host of the Irish & Celtic Music Podcast, and typically host of this show as Folk Songs & Stories, but today, we call it Quest & Chorus. And today, we drift to the edge of the world, To Skellig Michael, where the sea swallows history and monks once whispered their prayers to gulls. It's also where a Jedi gave up the fight. And where a selkie sings himself back into the sea. Today's theme may seem like exile or perhaps it's where you truly belong. Quest & Chorus is a 6-part podcast series. I fuse my love of Celtic and folk music, science fiction and fantasy, and travel into a podcast with a quest. In each episode, you will get a clue to unlock a secret reward. And at the end of the season, you will combine all of those clues to unlock an even bigger amazing reward. If you're new to the show, please follow us. You can do that at PubSong.com. Let's begin the… 13:47 - QUEST & CHORUS of SKELLIG MICHAEL Eight miles off the coast of County Kerry is the island of Skellig Michael. It is a jagged twin-peaked island. Its name comes from the Irish Sceilg Mhichíl which means Michael's Rock. It was dedicated to the Archangel Michael. The island's history began in the sixth century. Monks sought isolation and closeness to God. So they settled there because the early Irish monastic tradition valued hardship, solitude, and spiritual testing. The monks carved out a small community on narrow terraces more than 600 steps above sea level. The monastic settlement they built still survives. They built a cluster of beehive stone huts, stone crosses and terraces connected by narrow paths. Everything was dry-stone construction. That means they were fitted together without mortar. They were built so well that they have lasted over a millennium. The monks grew small gardens, caught seabirds and fish, and collected rainwater in cisterns. They survived off of what the island would allow. Skellig Michael was a center of devotion to Saint Michael the Archangel sometime after the 8th century. The island was also a pilgrimage site for centuries. Climbing its steps was seen as a form of penance and spiritual renewal. By the 13th century, life on Skellig Michael had become too difficult. Storms, isolation, and changing Church patterns led the monks to relocate to the mainland, near Ballinskelligs. But the island remained a place of pilgrimage well into the modern era. Skellig Michael is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is recognized for its exceptional preservation of early Christian monastic life and its haunting natural beauty. It's also become familiar to a new generation as Ahch-To, the oceanic world where Luke Skywalker lived in exile in Star Wars: The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi. Even now, Skellig Michael stands as a symbol of endurance, of faith carved into stone, of solitude turned to sanctuary, and of the fragile bridge between human devotion and the raw power of nature. LEGENDS OF SKELLIG MICHAEL One of the more famous legends involves the Tuatha Dé Danann and the Milesian invasion of Ireland. It is recounted in the Lebor Gabála Érenn (the Book of Invasions). According to this myth: As the Milesians sailed toward Ireland around 1400 BC in the mythic narrative, a storm was caused by the Tuatha Dé Danann. They are one of the faerie-like supernatural race in Irish mythology. Skellig's cliffs are sometimes mentioned as one of the treacherous places where ships were driven ashore. One version says Irr, a son of Míl Espáine (the mythic ancestor of the Gaels), was travelling from the Iberian Peninsula. He drowned and was buried on Skellig. MY THOUGHTS on SKELLIG MICHAEL 20:02 - Marc Gunn “Selkie's Life” from Come Adventure With Me Check out my blog of the puffins of Skellig Michael. Selkie's Life, Selkie Call of the Sea #234 Thank you for returning to the sea with me. Skellig Michael is not the end of the story. But it's where stories are kept safe. Next time, we wander the great alignments of Carnac, stones older than myth, standing like trees in time. Until then… If the sea calls you, don't be afraid to answer. 23:39 - CREDITS Thanks for listening to Quest & Chorus. This episode was edited by Mitchell Petersen.
