Are we still a video game podcast? Well, sorta kinda! That, pop culture, and beyond as we say, (with an emphasis on the latter two lately...) But still, it's a question we find we are asking ourselves lately! tbh, We find it a little difficult to care as deeply about video games when we are so busy living through major current events and existing in the context of all in which we live (& what came before us, as you will see in this time capsule of an episode)... alas in this episode we endeavor to anyway! This week Eric and Laurence convene to the mics to discuss the remake of Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door, along with a good deal of other video games we've been spending time with us these past couple months. Then in the back half of the show, we share our feelings Charli XCX's brat as we unpack our own brat summers, and we yap at length about all of the other culture (music! live theatre! film! etc!) that we're gay for as of late! Strap in for this time capsule of an episode on Summa 2024~Games Discussed:Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door, Kingdom Hearts (now on Steam!), Animal Well, Baldur's Gate 3, Lil Gator Game, Zenless Zone Zero, Overwatch 2, Lego 2K DrivePop girlies discussed: Charli XCX, Tinashe (Stream "NASTY" on all platforms!!!), Sabrina Carpenter, Chappell RoanTheatre/Movies/TV Discussed:Fiddler on the Roof, Urinetown, The Acolyte, The People's Joker by Vera Drew, Big Boys by Corey Sherman, Twin Peaks, Pokémon Horizons================Get in touch with us!EMAIL US at gayforplaypodcast@gmail.comFOLLOW G4P (& Message us on any of our socials for a link to our Discord!)Twitter: @GayForPlayPodInstagram: @GayForPlayPodTwitch: twitch.tv/gayforplaypodSupport the Show & Unlock Bonus Episodes on our PATREON========CREDITSIntro and outro music by Connor Marsh (@connorjmarshmallow)Show art by Benny Kessler (@retro.spectacle.studio)Special thanks to our patrons: Blueberri Mary, Elijah Punzal, Trevor McTavish,

Legend of the little lizard man? For this episode, our dynamic duo investigate the cutesy platformer developed by MegaWobble and published by Playtonic Games. The developer is a tiny team, but they had big ideas... not unlike the diminutive reptilian protagonist of this colorful title. Will the trio's aspirations of making a zelda-esk experience that's silly and free of any serious "adult stuff" translate into a fun time for our hosts? Will Tom's existing predisposition towards playing lizard dudes give this game an unfair advantage or set his expectations perilously high? Does any of this nonsense matter to Chris? Well our hosts have played the requisite hour and now they are ready to let you know if this itty-bitty alligator adventure is worth your time. What do you think? Let us know! In today's Daily Fix: Helldivers, to your hellpods! A new patch is available for Helldivers 2 which buffs some weapons, nerfs others, and introduces sandstorms and blizzards to some maps. The newly-introduced HMG gets a slower max fire rate, which could actually be to the players' benefit if you feel the HMG is too unwieldy in its highest mode of fire. The mech's rockets also get a slight nerf, requiring you to hit an armored enemy dead-on in order to penetrate. For the full list of buffs, nerfs, and other gameplay changes, check out our website. In other news, April's first wave of Game Pass games have been revealed. Subscribers will see the return of Shadow of the Tomb Raider and Superhot: Mind Control Delete. Indie title Harold Halibut is also coming to Game Pass, along with Lego 2K Drive, EA Sports PGA Tour, and Lil Gator Game. And finally, new studio Yellow Brick Games—founded by industry veterans from big name studios like Ubisoft—have announced Eternal Strands, a third-person action-adventure game inspired by titles like Shadow of the Colossus.

Welcome back to Pursuing Pixels. We've got the whole crew in the house this week for our first recording session of the new year — and the first proper numbered episode recorded with Kevin in his new apartment! Kevin gets things started off with some first impressions on Lil Gator Game after ripping through the opening hour or so, and immediately falling in love! After that, Randall hits the ground running, and dives right into his resolution game for 2024 — and shares some quick thoughts about his new Analogue Duo, as well. Monster Hunter: WorldJohn's been spending a whole bunch of time playing Monster Hunter: World on his newly acquired Steam Deck, and experimenting with all sorts of different weapons. Finally, Randall & Kevin have each been playing a couple of former Apple Arcade exclusives, as Randall finally spends some quality time with Grindstone on the iPad, and Kevin takes his best stab at Bleak Sword DX. Welcome to CORE, where we could do the Konami Code in our sleep. Scott Johnson, Beau Schwartz, and Jon Jagger here. Playing a clip about microtransactions from an ex-Blizz guy sets the tone. The main topic is yet to be revealed, but our week in gaming features an abundance of World of Warcraft, with Scott hitting new levels and Jon exploring new features. Scott enjoys Lil Gator Game and Wildfrost on Steam, while Jon dives into Super Mario RPG on Switch and Death Must Die. Beau covers Assassin's Creed Nexus VR, The Expanse, Sun Wukong in Ravenswatch, and Starcraft 2. The break teases news like Valve's Half-Life retrospective and Walking Dead Destinies hitting Xbox bestsellers. Space Marine 2 is delayed, and Eminem is coming to Fortnite. Core-respondence includes an email confirming Beau's insight and a text about scary games, mentioning Martian Gothic. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

WAS??? Todd Andrew Howard was born in 1970 in Lower Macungie Township, Pennsylvania, to Ronald (Ron) and Priscilla Howard. His elder brother, Jeffrey Mark (Jeff) Howard, was later the director of creative affairs for Disney, where he oversaw the production of Bambi II. He developed an interest in computers, particularly video games, at a very young age. Howard considers the 1980s role-playing video games Wizardry and Ultima III: Exodus to be inspirations for his future games.Bethesda Softworks eventually recruited Howard in 1994 as a producer. His first game development credit for Bethesda was as the producer and designer of The Terminator: Future Shock (1995), followed by work as a designer on Skynet and The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall, both released in 1996. He was project leader for the first time on The Elder Scrolls Adventures: Redguard, released in 1998.
Drawing inspiration from a Short Hike and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Lil Gator game is a short and sweet exploration platformer about, you guessed it, a lil gator. You are charged with helping lil Gator round him his friends to join in the biggest and best make believe game ever. Bryan and Josh were immediately drawn in by the ‘Short-Hike-ness' but quickly realized the games smart and snappy writing was being used to convey some very universal and heartfelt themes and situations. So join Bryan and Josh for a lap or two around the gorgeous island adventure in Lil Gator Game!Three Word Reviews:Bryan - Painless Pixelated PlaygroundJosh - See You Later

Danach besprechen wir die erste Folge der HBO-Adaption von «The Last of Us». This episode contains: Ben and Steven in the same room recording. Ben has a week of disaster. Steven is guesting on Plastic Plesiosaur Podcast. Devon is nowhere to be seen. Magnets, How Do They Work?: Qi2: How Apple might finally harness MagSafe by giving it away. We talk about the future of phone chargers, and how everything being compatable is a complete win. https://www.theverge.com/2023/1/3/23538131/qi2-wireless-charging-apple-samsung https://appleinsider.com/articles/23/01/10/future-of-magsafe-and-the-new-qi2-wireless-charging-spec YUMMMM: Why chocolate feels so good; it is all down to lubrication. We talk about the science of lubrication in terms of chocolate. Fat is neccessary. We also ponder the ramifications of this science and the 'fake meat' industry. https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2023/01/230113112804.htm Big Question: Why are anachronistic elements in fiction so cool? We talk about Willow and dark City before Steven goes on his rant about Star Trek not being anachronistic but Star Wars is. Ben dives into tvtropes.org and we investigate the 'film' Kung Fury. Ben goes off topic and tells us about Lil Gator Game and his son, but then we refocus and talk about different sub-tropes of anachronisms. Steven finds that he doesn't like unexplained future-tech in the past. Lastly, Steven dives into Century by Alan Moore and spoils the whole thing. Patreon Only: We talk about Babylon 5, The Bad Batch and A Psalm for the Wild-Built.
