Episode 70 - Victoria Livschitz (Part 2)What do you do after selling a billion-dollar company? If you're Victoria Livschitz, you go straight into a $25K poker tournament. She had never played at that level before. She barely knew what "blockers" were. But she knew how to win. This episode is what happens when a self-made genius discovers poker. She quit tech and moved to Montana to “retire”… then found poker. She studied poker the way she studied chess—obsessively. She put up $25,000 against the best players in the world just to learn. And within months, she was cashing for millions in tournaments and re-inventing the tools the pros use. Today on Too Opinionated, we sit down with author Matt Vaughn to discuss his new book! “My Cosmic Trigger (Vol. 1): High Strangeness in Theory and Practice,” is a deep dive into the realm of high strangeness, that area of occurrences so uncanny, they are deemed unbelievable and absurd. Those who study the field define “high strangeness” as the intersection of multiple paranormal experiences, and Matt Vaughn's book is a three-volume series exploring what happenings like UFO and Bigfoot sightings, reveal about our concept of reality. The 6-foot-9 center is a free agent and says she’ll return to Phoenix. Players can officially sign with teams on Wednesday. Players have been unable to negotiate for charter flights and the current collective bargaining agreement requires all teams to fly commercial. If Griner needs special travel accommodations due to safety concerns the league will have to come up with a plan and any change would have to be approved by both the union and the WNBA. The person spoke to The AP on condition of anonymity because the teams hadn’t announced the agreement. NFL – Brother vs. brother: Kelces prepare for Super Bowl showdown Donna Kelce is going to have to pull out her custom jersey — the one with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce's front stitched to Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce's back — one more time this season. WNBA – Griner’s return, free agency raises charter flight concerns Brittney Griner’s return to the WNBA has collided with free agency which has raised questions once again about teams chartering flights. Griner announced in December that she would return to the league after spending last season in a Russian jail before being released in a dramatic prisoner swap. NFL – AP source: Broncos get Payton as coach in deal with Saints A person with knowledge of the pact tells The Associated Press that the Denver Broncos have agreed to a deal with the New Orleans Saints to hire Sean Payton as their head coach. Tonight I spoke with Matt Vaughn. This guy is deep and has spent a lot of years thinking through what hunting and the outdoors life means. He was a pleasure to speak to and I'm a better person for it.
John and Bethany dig into Matt Vaughn's comedy action spy flick. Is it actually a neoliberal hellscape though? Does Matt Vaughn hate poor people? Is Colin Firth a class enemy? Next time, it's show swap! And after that, we're going to watch The King's Speech.
Todd starts the episode with a discussion about which decade in our lives has produced the best music. Special guest host Matt Vaughn leads a discussion on inappropriate things you may have been taught as a kid. Aric rounds out the episode leading our hosts in a game of Misery Index. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/playitbyearpodcast/message
