I was absolutely captivated by this novel, the mystery, the diving, the letters...I loved the modern day timeline just as much as I did the 1920s and could not turn the pages fast enough. I did spend considerable time just gushing about hoe much I loved it, I have cut a lot of that out, and I also must apologise again for not hitting record sooner, the reason why it sounds like I just launched in is because I was gushing too much and failed to hit record..such a rookie mistake that I have no excuse for, please forgive me x To join our ReadA Book community head on over to www.readabook.com.au. “I Thought Of You” Julie Doiron got her start at 18 with the band Eric's Trip. The first Canadian band to be signed to Sub Pop, Eric's Trip put out modern classics like Forever Again and Purple Blue and though they called it a day in '96, they reformed for shows as recently as 2007. As for the New Brunswick-born Doiron, she embarked on a solo career that to date has found her releasing close to fifteen albums, including Loneliest In The Morning, Woke Myself Up and her brand new one, I Thought Of You. We'll get to that in a second—but before we do, here's a partial list of her accomplishments. She won a Juno award with her collaborative album with the Wooden Stars, her 2007 effort Woke Myself Up was shortlisted for the Polaris Music Prize, she's put out records in Spanish and French, she's appeared on albums by The Tragically Hip, she was in the band Shotgun and Jaybird, June 7th was declared by the Mayor of Bruno, Saskatchewan to be Julie Doiron Day, and her track "The Life of Dreams" was used in an iPhone commercial. I Thought Of You is her first full length solo album in nine years, and it's a stone cold killer. A riveting batch of wobbly indie rock that's a perfect blend of fire, vulnerability and grace, I Thought Of You is one of the most moving listening experiences of 2021. Alan recently discussed immersive learning with his partner in life and business, Julie Smithson, on her sister podcast, XR for Learning. We thought it was a good episode, so this week, we're sharing it here for XR for Business listeners. Julie: Hi, my name is Julie Smithson. Alan: And I'm Alan Smithson. Julie: And this is the XR for Learning podcast. Alan: Well… which podcast are we on? Is it mine or yours? Julie: I think it's mine. Alan: Yours, so the XR for Learning podcast. Julie: Yeah. Alan: I'm going to interview you. Julie: Yes. Alan: OK, cool. Julie: Hi, my name is Julie Smithson, and I am your XR for Learning podcast host. In all of my episodes, I talk about the way that we need to change the way that we learn and we teach, to adapt to the immersive technologies that are being implemented in enterprise and business today. So today, my guest — my special guest — is Alan Smithson. Alan: Hello. Julie: My partner and husband of almost 20 years. And we're going to talk about education. So welcome. Thanks for being on *my* podcast. Alan: Thank you so much for having me. I'm a little nervous, I'm not going to lie. This is an interesting podcast dynamic. Julie: It really is. We've never done this before. Alan: No, we have not. So I want to ask you questions, because you are the guru in immersive learning systems. So we'll hopefully kind of dig up where this lies, and what we have to do as a society to really push the needle forward. Julie: So what I like to do with all my podcasts is start with a baseline technology. Where are we today? Like, what's going on today? Which is really good question, because it's definitely different than it was six months ago. Alan: I would say, in the industry– I'm coming from the business side of things. What we've seen is there's been a hyper-acceleration of digitization. So in retail and e-com, it has been decimated. People couldn't go to a store physically, and so everything moved online. And in e-commerce, we're seeing shopping trends that would have existed in 2030 happen today. This is trickling down to everything, not only retail, but then also meetings. Everybody's meeting on Zoom these days. Everybody. There's just– we're moving to digital and we're moving to these things much faster than we had ever, ever hoped to do. Plans of digital transformation that would have taken five years are now happening today. So it's an interesting time to revisit and relook at what does education look like in an exponential world of digital transformation. Julie: And this is where the skillsets that are now needed — in enterprise, business, and organizations today to digitally transform — those skillsets are not being taught in the school system today. So COVID coming in and forcing people to virtually connect online, the education systems were forced to actually be online and rethink how they're teaching things. But the unfortunate thing is, is that we didn't get to the point of talking about what we were actually teaching. It was just more of a digital connection for the past six months. Alan: Well, I think since this thing has hit, it's been really just how do we make the technology work in a seamless way that is comfortable for both the teachers and the students? And to be honest, we're not quite there yet. My kids

Julie Ann Cairns Talks about 2020 and Goal Setting Julie Ann Cairns’ life mission is to empower people to live an abundant life free from false beliefs.  In this spirit, she wrote The Abundance Code: How to Bust The 7 Money Myths For A Rich Life Now (Hay House, September 2015), and has spearheaded The Abundance Code Documentary (released worldwide in June 2016) to help people everywhere make a shift to the abundance mindset and seek joint solutions to the most pressing challenges facing our planet.   Trained as an economist and statistician, Julie Ann has over 25 years of experience in the fields of wealth creation, financial market education, and financial advice. It was through her long years of working in this space, of educating people on the steps they could take to create financial abundance, that Julie Ann realized some of the biggest blocks people face.  People often fail to grow their wealth and abundance even when they have a strong desire to do so, even when they have all the knowledge they should need, and even when they make consistent efforts. Why? Julie Ann discovered that this happens when they have not addressed their limiting subconscious code. This is the shift that needs to happen before any desire, knowledge or effort can bear fruit.  It was this realization that motivated Julie Ann to write her book “The Abundance Code: How to Bust the 7 Money Myths for a Rich Life Now” and to direct a 90-minute documentary interviewing over 15 thought leaders about abundant thinking, also called The Abundance Code.  Julie Ann chooses to spend most of her time in one of the most beautiful places on earth: Queenstown, New Zealand.  TALKING POINTS OF INTEREST The Abundance Code Book: CLICK HERE  The Abundance Code Documentary: CLICK HERE  Gaia: CLICK HERE  Atomic Habits: CLICK HERE  Power of Habit: CLICK HERE  Accountability Group: CLICK HERE  Kaizen: CLICK HERE  Push Goals: CLICK HERE    BYWG’s Book of the Month We really wanted to introduce you all to an incredible author and one of BYWGs favorites – Gary John Bishop, author of the New York Times Best Seller Unfu*k Yourself. How do you begin to describe a podcast with a woman who not only help put triathlon on the map, but who has inspired so many people within the sport, and many swim, bike, run civilians as well. Julie Moss was not only one of the first women I heard about when I started to fall in love with triathlon (hit pause and watch this clip now if you haven't already: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nVKqFAPdjIA), but she was also the first person I heard interviewed on a podcast. So to have the opportunity to sit down with Julie and be the one interviewing her felt like things had come full circle. Whoever you are, whatever you're up to, I guarantee you'll be inspired by Julie and her stories - of which there are many. Crawl on my friends!
