Bruce and Sean get down to it and talk about Sean's business, the products SNS Customs manufactures, and what drives Sean to build exceptional custom motorcycle parts. It's not an easy business to be successful at in Canada, especially on the east coast. In spite of a relatively small population for the huge land mass that is Canada, Sean is establishing a reputation and a name in a much larger custom motorcycle community outside of Canada. Quality control is job one for Sean. Nothing leaves SNS Customs that doesn't have Sean's stamp of approval. Sean machines every part of his products with just a few exceptions which he personally sources from trusted suppliers.Sean's Non-Stock Customs builds hardtail kits for Yamaha XS650s and Harley-Davidson Sportsters coming complete with axle and adjusters. The XS650 kit is available in two versions. One has the stock 20 mm axle that came with the XS650. The other has a 3/4" axle allowing for the use of Harley-Davidson style wheels which allow for a much greater selection of wheels, and brakes. The only challenge with the Harley compatible hubs is the sprocket is too large for an XS650. Sean has the answer for that. SNS Customs manufactures a sprocket with the correct tooth count for a Yamaha and the correct bolt pattern for the Harley-Davidson hub. This custom sprocket is included with the 3/4" axle XS650 hardtail kit.Sean also builds a Softail version of a Sportster. Official Website: https://www.lawabidingbiker.com In this episode, I'm joined by Lurch and we discuss that Harley-Davidson recently flew me to Santa Barbara, California to test ride and review the 2022 Low Rider ST.  Understand, Harley-Davidson paid for the flights, meals, and lodging. However, no contract was mentioned or signed and I was never told what I could or could not say, so I will give you an unbiased real-world biker review as always. I'm going to give you a real-world biker review of the new 2022 Harley-Davidson Low Rider ST.  Oh, and in case you're new to Law Abidin Biker, I'm a full-time Police Motorcycle Officer and Instructor. Additionally, I have multiple bikes and put on many miles off duty on both street and off-road adventure rides.  SUPPORT US AND SHOP IN THE OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER STORE Now, I actually own a 2016 Dyna Low Rider S and after that year it was moved to the Softail frame. My 2016 has the Screamin' Eagle Twin Cam 110 ci engine and it is a ripper and so fun to ride.  I looked forward to how the new 2022 Low Rider ST would handle and feel like with the Milwaukee-Eight 117 cubic inch engine. I learned many things about the Low Rider ST from the Harley-Davidson Reps, so I think we should talk about where the Low Rider ST spawned from. You see, in recent years Harley has been paying much attention to the ever-changing demographics of Harley riders. Harley spotted a trend and was seeing riders, especially in Southern California, tweaking the Low Rider S by Increasing engine displacement, changing suspension, adding bags, and even fairings, just to name a few. Armed with that information Harley-Davidson set out to create a base model bike that was all of the aforementioned things, but yet came that way out of the box so to speak.  Thus, the Low Rider ST was born and came into existence with special care taken as to how it looked and rode.  The overall design was inspired by the iconic 80's FXRT. I reviewed the Low Rider ST from the perspective of the average everyday biker out there and I'll tell you what you actually need to know about the bike, which has caused much stir and grabbed a lot of attention within the motorcycle community  There are so many pre-orders that so this bike hardly ever makes it to the dealership floors.  The 2022 Low Rider ST is super fast and nimble.  I really enjoyed dragging the footpegs through the twisties.  I liked the fairing and the vents it had in it.  The fairing created a wind tunnel around me and minimized buffeting.  The Low Rider ST is capable of touring, but you can easily remove the bags to give it a stripped-down look while riding around town.   NEW FREE VIDEO RELEASED: A Sport Touring Dream? 2022 Harley Davidson Low Rider ST Test Ride & Review There were a few negatives I found, and admittedly they are a bit nit-picky.  First, the right saddlebag is shorter than the left to accommodate the dual exhaust.  In my opinion, it aesthetically detracts from the look of the bike from the rear.  This issue would not keep me from buying this bike though.  Second, as a touring bike, I think the Low Rider ST should come from the factory with some sort of crash bars.  There are crash bars available from Harley-Davidson.   Sponsor-Ciro 3D CLICK HERE! I take a look at the 750cc Honda Africa Twin 750 (around the year 2000) to see if this could be a solid investment.And I look into used Harley Davidson Softail Deluxes in the US, and find a very very tempting offer! Softail wurde jetzt in Cruiser umbenannt, genauso, wie man die Bezeichnung zu den Touring Modellen auf Grand American Touring geändert hat. Eigentlich ist Harley-Davidson schon vorher in der Corona Krise gewesen und die Aussichten auf das Jahr 2022 sehen nicht besser aus. Der unsägliche Kampf mit der EU, wobei das europäische H-D Händlernetz auf politischer Ebene völlig übersehen wird, zeigt sehr gut, das Motorradfahren generell politisch ungewollt ist. The differences are significant, even though they look very similar. Both are very cool Motorcycles and this will help you with the differences between the two.Gary dials in talks to us about how a Helmet is made and the difference between a good quality helmet and a bad quality helmet. PLUS he touches on how a helmet should really fit. To finish up on, Ben dives deeper into the Harley-Davidson Reflex Rider System. Official Website: https://www.lawabidingbiker.com Smaller Harley rider? This episode is a result of a voicemail we got from listener Stephanie Crabtree of Kansas City, Missouri. She asked about Harley's and smaller rider issues, mainly females. She wanted to know what would be a good Harley for her at 5-03 and 120 lbs. She wanted our opinions on this issue and that's exactly what we give in this episode.  This begs the question-does size matter? Yah, I said it.  Stephanie also wanted to know about females in a club setting and whether she should join one, so we touch on that too.  SUPPORT US AND SHOP IN THE OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER STORE The size of Harley you purchase is often determined by your riding experience and not size necessarily, as some modifications to the larger models can be made. We'll talk about that later. Our suggestion for a newer smaller Harley rider is the Street or Sportster models as they are smaller, lighter, and cost less. You could move into one of the smaller Softail models from there.  I will say that even if you're a smaller Harley rider, you shouldn't be scared off by the bigger Harley touring models. If you use proper riding and control techniques, you can easily handle a larger bike. Size doesn't really matter that much when controlling a motorcycle. Being bigger will help you if you have to lift the motorcycle after dropping it though.  CHECK OUT OUR HUNDREDS OF FREE HELPFUL VIDEOS ON OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL AND SUBSCRIBE! Jumping on a bigger taller bike can be a challenge for a smaller Harley rider when it comes to stopping and touching the ground. Some modifications can be made to the motorcycle such as lower rear shocks and a lower profile seat. You can certainly drop inches doing these mods. You could also wear boots with thicker type soles, thus adding inches of reach. These are just a few tricks. Be careful not to go to the extreme with the Harley mods or you'll lose the rideability of the bike.  This article is just a glimpse into some of the information we reveal in this podcast episode, so you'll need to listen in for the rest. News: Well incase you have been living under a rock for the last few days Harley Davidson has release a few new bikes and shook up their lineup.  Here are three articles that we read before we chat. Need information about new Harleys, and another take and another.  We also talk about a first ride.   Here’s the lowdown. Dyna line has been dropped.   Some model names have been merged with Softail line: lowrider, fatbob, and streetbob have been carried forward to merge with the heritage deluxe, classic, softail slim, breakout, and fatboy.   8 new bikes. Common features are the dual counterbalanced Mil 8, with some (classic, fatboy, breakout) available with the 114. ABS is either standard or available (really!) but they don’t mention if its reflex linked as in the Rushmore and onward touring line.   All have single front rotors (boo). Bike weight reduced up to 35 lbs (yawn), frames are much stiffer and shocks have all been redesigned with showa cartridge like front forks and rear shocks that are easily preload adjustable and have more travel. Greater ground clearance and lean angle has been incorporated. Bikes are claimed to have much improved handling, significantly more torque. The engines are not identical to the 8’s in the touring models, as they now have large oil coolers between the front frame members that look like water radiators. Presumably, engine heat had to be addressed in the softail models, perhaps because they don’t have the farings to redirect the heat as in the baggers? 3 to 5 gallon gas tanks. All bikes have led lighting that varies from modern to futuristic looking, some have lcd readouts instead of the traditional analogue dials with inset lcd windows.   Indian opens an experience center. Official Website: Podcast-In this episode we talk all about the 2016 Harley-Davidson Dyna Low Rider S we have in the Law Abiding Biker™ garage for a while. We have done quite a few projects on it and of course, we filmed them for you. Check out our video titled, Install Forward Controls on a Harley Davidson Softail or Dyna-Guide & Instructions.  We recently put new 12" West Coast MX T-Bars on this bike and they look awesome! Check out our video titled, Install Handlebars Harley Dyna, Softail, Sportster | Extend Wires & Cables.  The 2016 Dyna Low Rider S (special) was the first for this model. Harley is making some "special" models. Although they are not a "CVO" model, they are somewhat of a "one off" bike and they have some special things about them. Harley seems to be doing this with other models too. Our 2016 Dyna Low Rider S came stock with the Screamin’ Eagle Twin Cam 110 engine (1,801 cc) on this small frame bike. And she really rips! It also came stock with cruise control and throttle by wire. It has a cable clutch and not hydraulic clutch, which we would have preferred.  It also comes with upgraded suspension, the six-speed transmission, ABS brakes, and dual front disc brakes.  We put Vance & Hines Short Shots Staggered exhaust and we tuned the electronic fuel injection (EFI) using a Vance and Hines Fuel Pak 3. The bike came with a stage one Screamin Eagle air intake. I am really digging riding this bike now that we have it all setup! I read your information and there is something that you should know. I'm a retired Police Officer from York Region and have had bikes for 40 odd years. I have about 14 now.  In August of this year I purchased a new Harley Ultra Limited Low. When I picked up my new bike, they showed my how the security system works and taking their advise, I changed the code. Safe and secure!  In October I had my bike in the garage and attempted to start it. It would not start and a member came up to trailer it to the dealership. This gentleman made several attempts to start the bike without any luck. He asked me for my security code and I told him I had forgotten it. He then told me that he could override my code and start the bike.   I was curious and again asked him how he could override my security code. He told me that the dealership people have the knowledge to do this override! Interesting. So basically dealership employees could steal my bike! Turns out there was a module in the starter circuit that burnt out. They fixed it the next day..good service!
