This Christmas season on After Lunch - like with the last couple of years - we're going to be re-running a bunch of episodes from Michael's old Sleigh Bell Cinema podcast. This is going to be an especially busy year though, because we're running discussions of what we call Holiday Spirit movies. Unlike Tangential Christmas movies, these are undeniably about the Holiday Season, but without a lot of fantastical elements like Santa or his elves and reindeer. If there's magic, it's going to be subtle or ambiguous. There are a lot of these movies though - it's easily the biggest category that we talked about on Sleigh Bell Cinema - so we're going to be running an episode a day for the next couple of weeks. To kick this off, we want to start with a movie that Rob and Michael keep referring back to. In fact, it's come up in the last three episodes on the show. From 1949, it's Holiday Affair starring Janet Leigh, Robert Mitchum, and Wendell Corey. And featuring Colonel Potter himself, Harry Morgan, in a small role. It's one of Michael's favorite Christmas movies, but you'll have to stay tuned to find out what Rob thought. So please listen and enjoy and let us know whether you're Team Steve or Team Carl.

For the past 25 years, Steve Dixon has been helping others to live their best life through providing career opportunities at P.B. Hoidale. He shares with Don and Ebony his passion for the community and people in it while providing critical needs through the gas stations his business builds. On this episode we discuss: His great-grandfather starting the business from his garage Why he likes to hire people who don't already have a lot of experience Treating employees like family What concerns Steve about talent development Helping the team feel pride in the value they provide How technology has evolved their offering Why community investment brings energy to Steve's life Desiring and supporting growth in the Wichita entrepreneurial community Providing career opportunities outside of the typical college path Learn more about P.B. Hoidale:https://www.hoidale.com/Twitter ProfileLinkedIn ProfileSteve Dixon is the President and CEO of P.B. Hoidale, a company founded by his Great Grandfather over seventy-five years ago. Hoidale is a regional company headquartered in Wichita with locations throughout Kansas and Oklahoma. While being best known for building and servicing retail fueling locations across the region, Hoidale is involved with projects relating to the storage, pumping, measuring, and dispensing of fluids for a wide variety of customers. Peter Bernard Hoidale founded the company that bears his name in 1946. Starting from a small office in Wichita, Kansas, selling fuel storage tanks and pumping units, the company had its first geographic expansion in the mid-1970s. This expansion came in the form of branch offices in Garden City and Chanute, Kansas. As the company continued to grow through the '70s and early '80s, they added additional product lines to complement their fuel equipment business, such as air compressors and lubrication equipment. By the mid-'80s, Hoidale had expanded into Oklahoma, opening offices in Oklahoma City and Tulsa, Oklahoma. The 1990s brought about another expansion of their business into electronic tank monitoring and point of-sale systems. These new POS systems were designed to provide their customers with more accurate information about how their businesses are performing. The mid 90's also saw the opening of their Kansas City branch office. Since the turn of the new century, they have again expanded their product lines to better meet the existing, as well as future, customer demand for heavy-duty lift equipment, and automated lubrication systems. They will continue to expand both their product lines as well as their geographic reach to better serve their customer base as it grows in new and exciting directions.Join the Wichita Regional Chamber of Commerce! Dave Bartoo of the College Football Matrix joins the show on the Farm Bureau guest line to talk about the "all star" coaching staff and how the analytics came up with the names. Dave talks about how more than 70% of SEC conference games were won by the team with the best recruiting and talks about how the coaches affect these numbers as well. Bo and Dave dive into a head coaches ability to staff and the politics that surround the hiring and networking processes. Dave talks about the fact that it takes time for coaches to staff and schools usually do not allow enough time to create the staff they need to succeed. Bo and Dave go into talking about Steve Sarkisian as a head coach and an outlier in the logic due to his ability to staff but not win the big games. Dave thinks that Sarkisian is great at getting the right pieces but cannot put the puzzle together. Talent is not an issue for the Texas head coach, but Dave thinks the issue is the coach himself. Dave feels strongly that Paul Chryst, former Wisconsin head coach, should be considered for coaching jobs at the end of the season, if not right now. Learn more about your ad choices. Bo and the crew talk about Mike Leach's legacy once Zach Arnett took over, ranking the SEC teams by potential, and breaking down the MSU football team in the third hour of the show live in the BankPlus Studio. The guys talks about an article written by Brody Miller that dissects the moments after Mike Leach passed away and how Zach Arnett, as well as the rest of the team decided to move forward in honor of the late coach. Bo talks about Arnett's top three priorities, the first being to be present for the players and check on their emotional health. Bo also talks about Arnett's ability to keep the incoming recruiting class together after losing the famous head coach and what that class could produce in years to come for the Bulldogs. The guys also talk about the top four SEC football teams and who makes sense to follow suit in spots like five six and seven. Bo and the crew talk about the potential of Auburn being the next best team behind Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, and LSU. Mississippi State insider Steve Robertson joins the show on the Farm Bureau guest line talking about the three best receivers the Bulldogs have for the 2023 football season and expectations for new and familiar faces on the defense. Steve Talks about the potential Jo'quavious "Woody" Marks has to be a star this season and expects him to be a sleeper pick for breakout player of the year with the increase in touches he will get from the new style of offense. Bo and Steve talks about WR Justin Robinson and touch on the fact that people wonder if he "has that dog in him" to be able to step in as one of State's best receivers this coming season. Steve gives his list of the top 3 receivers for the team and names a player that could surprise a lot of fans. Bo and Steve transition to talking about the defense and discuss the expectations for defensive players like J.P. Purvis and John Lewis. Steve notes that the week spot on the defense for MSU is the safety position and talks about supplementing some of the uncertainty with great pass rushing from an experienced linebacker roster. Steve Sarkisian has made some really good hires since he was been named the Head Coach of the Texas Longhorns Football Team, in 2021. Last year, Sark hired Gary Patterson, one of the most highly regarded head coaches in college football for the last two decades. With the news that Patterson would not be returning, Sarkisian made the decision to replace him, while also adding two more members to his coaching staff, members who all have impressive resumes of their own. Paul Chryst (former Wisconsin Head Coach), Payam Saadat (Two decades of D-1 experience) and Joe DecaMillis, who has three decades of NFL special teams experience can bring a lot to a staff and team who are trying to do some significant winning for the first time in over a decade at the 40 acres. Regardless of how much imput they'll have on a weekly basis, these hires will undoubtedly help this Texas football team in the long run this year. Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! Unsurprisingly, most people work to get paid (a wild concept, I know.) Despite that, navigating and creating a proper pay scale for sales teams is a seemingly complex and difficult process. How can we create a pay scale that works for the organization and the workers themselves? In today's episode of The Sales Evangelist, Donald is joined by the CRO of LinkSquares, Steve Travaglini, to discuss what he does to strike a balance between these two sides. Salary open for negotiation in sales roles doesn't make sense. If you have two people doing the exact same job, they should be paid the same. Pay isn't the way to motivate people. If you pay people differently, that will eventually get out and will result in a lack of trust in the organization. Base salaries should be standard across a job title, but allow the variable income (i.e. commission) to determine how much a seller's skills allow them to make. There should be no questions or ambiguous items when an employee signs a compensation agreement. Set the rules before you play the game. What items do sellers find annoying in the compensation package? Having different salaries but the same amount of experience should be a nonstarter. Structure annual bonuses around the hiring period, not the calendar year to give everyone an equal chance of reaching that quota. Implement rewards and compensations beyond strictly monetary like parental leave, benefits, and even stocks or an owner's portion of the company to keep employees satisfied. Consider advertising jobs based on income; it shouldn't be the taboo topic that it is currently. Steve's average retention v. other tech companies: Typically tech companies aim to be in the 50-75% range of employee This year, Steve's company is around 80% retention and historically around 70%. They take risks on sellers with no experience or without the 5-6 years of closing experience, people expect to see. It all comes down to the product and the company; you can be great at your craft, but that doesn't mean you'll be world-class at every company. Steve's final takeaway? Don't forget what it's like to be the rep. Listen to the account executives and those around you; put together a benefits package you would've appreciated if you were in their role. To get in contact with Steve, connect with him on LinkedIn or visit Linksquares.com to view available job openings (but he always enjoys a custom LinkedIn DM.) First, we are pleased to appoint Lance Izumi, a previous guest on this show, to be the official whisky master of the 3WHH, even though he doesn’t drink whisky (or anything else for that matter), because anyone who can pull off this look deserves the recognition. And we’ll have him back soon to talk about the latest on K-12 education. (Notice Laphraoig front and center in his lineup—a point for Team Steve.) Meanwhile, as promised—or was it threatened?—last week, Lucretia and Steve head back to the seminar room this week to demonstrate how the left is lying about Critical Race Theory by the underhanded means of simply quoting what they say it’s all about. From there we have a spirited disagreement about the meaning and usefulness of Max Weber’s famous 1919 lecture “Politics as a Vocation,” which Steve has recorded a not-yet-released long podcast with the young guns at The New Thinkery (stand by for updates). Steve thinks that despite Weber’s defects, the lecture has some merits, and when you know some of the backstory of how Weber came to give the lecture amidst the chaos and revolutionary violence of the immediate post-World War I scene in Munich, it takes on an additional poignancy. Besides, Bill Clinton says “Politics as a Vocation” is a favorite “book” about politics, and who can pass up the chance to heckle the Big Dog, as the vision of Clinton huddled over the dense and difficult Weber is rather far-fetched.

Today's guest is Steve Kerr, the head coach of the Golden State Warriors. Earlier in his career as a player, Steve won three NBA titles with the Chicago Bulls alongside the one and only Michael Jordan. He then went on to win two more titles playing for the San Antonio Spurs, and then he became a coach and won three more titles for the Warriors. Needless to say, this guy knows how to win, and he knows how to build teams that win. What you may be surprised to learn, though, is how he does it. The way Steve leads is by understanding the power of the team, from superstars to bench and everything in between. You're going to hear all about this on today's episode, as well as how you too can apply Steve's insights to whatever team you happen to be leading. In this episode you'll learn: Who Steve Kerr learned from in order to coach Why joy matters in casting the vision for a team What a great team player looks like How to coach superstars and the bench What it takes to rack up 300 passes a game How to work past mental barriers to perform with excellence How to motivate the team How to delegate areas of weakness with strength What Steve learned from playing with Lute Olson, Phil Jackson, and Gregg Popovich Why Steve wanted to let the Warriors coach themselves one game Who Steve would pick if Michael Jordan, LeBron James, and Kevin Durant all came out in the draft in the same year What Steve thinks about The Last Dance documentary How Steve balances priorities at home and on the court Find the tools you need to become a better leader at https://howleaderslead.com.

We’ve got another #TeamSteve week lined up and he has a bold prediction that it will blow Kevin’s mind! This episode features a cool band with an interesting story. Thankfully people have music to use as an outlet to express feelings or opinions. The most relatable songs are the kind where the singer poses the same questions/opinions you may have.If you or someone you know is struggling with thoughts of suicide, do not hesitate to call 1-800-273-8255. Krister Ungerboeck Your Words Can Create a Highly Engaged Team The words you choose are having a significant impact on the people you lead. Are you choosing words that will inspire others to follow you? Struggling leaders should examine their words, assess where they come from and how they may be putting a damper on the people who follow them. Just like everyone else, leaders default to the words of those who influenced them from a young age. The words we speak to others are often an echo of the words we are speaking to ourselves, and those words were initiated by our original leaders. When we grow up hearing negative words, we often speak negative words ourselves. Examine your words, determine where they come from and how you can select words that will inspire those around you. Become the leader whose words transform others to want to follow you. It's part one of a two part Marvel Civil War Special! In this episode, Lita and Dusty share their love of Steve Rogers in fanfiction with the mod, from the early days when fans imagined him as Skinny Steve living in the 1940's, through to post-Avengers fanfiction where he sometimes had hate sex with Tony, but other times helped him raise Peter Parker as their own, through to now heading into Civil War where he's mostly cuddling with Bucky Barnes when he's not the subject of a Hydra Trash Party. We cover all of it, plus try and figure out Steve's politics, purity level, and anger level and we try and convince you why writing about Steve Rogers is where it's at. Awake 2 Oneness Radio with Worldwide Coordinating Director for Humanity’s Team Steve Farrell, Friday April 17, 2015 at 7:00 PM EDT. I first made a connection with Steve Farrell in October 2014 when I created a video in honor of Global Oneness Day on October 24, 2014. Humanity’s Team sponsors Global Oneness Day annually bringing together dozens of inspirational speakers whose commitment and insight into Oneness have inspired millions. Steve Farrell is the Worldwide Coordinating Director for Humanity’s Team. Humanity’s Team is an International Spiritual organization whose purpose is to communicate and demonstrate the timeless truth that We Are All One. Humanity’s Team was created by the spiritual author Neale Donald Walsch, author of the Conversations with God series of books, in 2003 in response to the inspiration he received in the producing of those books regarding the crisis that the human race was facing following the events of September 11th, 2001. In early 2004, Steve Farrell became the Worldwide Coordinating Director. Together with a small team he formed a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, and created a governance structure and programs focused on Awakening the world to Oneness. To learn more about Humanity's Team go to the web site: http://www.humanitysteam.org/
It's another timely episode! This week's guests, **[Gold Mountain](http://goldmountainsound.bandcamp.com/)** , are releasing their debut EP this Friday at the Handsome Daughter (presented by our [Garbage Hill](http://www.garbagehillnetwork.com/) pals **[Team Steve](http://www.witchpolice.com/2014/09/witchpolice-radio-episode-92.html)** ). We had three-quarters of the band in the Blanket Fort to talk about the randomly-generated "buzz" theme, which is fitting, considering the attention this band is (deservedly) getting lately for their keyboard-heavy, punk and folk-informed rock sound.

After meeting so many of our NIL Sleeper Cell, it's time to shift towards the Left Coast and talk to the leader of our NorCal Sleeper Cell: Steve Cramer! Yep, there is ANOTHER solid squad of EN athletes training and racing together in the East Bay area and Steve Cramer deserves much of the credit for bringing them onto the team by setting the local fitness and training example. Steve has been inside the Endurance Nation/Crucible Fitness house since about 2006. His Ironman PR has plummetted, from an 11:37 to a 10:08, an effort at IMLP'08 that earned him a slot to Kona, where he raced to a 10:43. Can your triathlon coach or training plan demonstrate a history of delivering results and testimonials like the ones you've heard in these podcasts?
