On June 19, 2016, Anton Yelchin was killed in a freak accident when he was pinned between a driveway gate and his massive SUV. Just 27 years old when he died, Yelchin had already proven himself to be a versatile and talented actor on the big screen, leaving little doubt his tragic death had robbed Hollywood of one of its brightest young stars. Though he kept it a secret, Yelchin lived with a dangerous health condition, but he never became discouraged. Actual Anarchy Podcast - AnCap Movie Reviews from a Rothbardian Perspective

We're talking about the punk-rock horror/thriller movie Green Room. It pits an ANTIFA-flavored punk band and a white supremacist audience against in each other in a battle to the death. Sadly, they both share many of the same ideas and horrific understanding of economics and morality. We get deep into some of the weeds here in a fun critique of pacing and real grown-up style reviewing. Enjoys! Show notes: http://www.actualanarchy.com/98 Presented by www.ActualAnarchy.com Robert and I analyze popular movies from a Rothbardian/Anarcho-Capitalist perspective. We use movies as a starting point for people who may not be familiar with this way of thinking.   Discussion of the plot and decisions that characters make in relation to morality and violations of the non-aggression principle are our bread and butter. We also will highlight and discuss any themes or lessons from Austrian Economics that we can glean from the film. The point is to show what anarchy actually is with instances that are presented in film. We publish at least once per week; and occasionally will do specials surrounding holidays or events (elections/olympics) and have guests. SUBSCRIBE, RATE AND REVIEW ON APPLE PODCASTS (or iTUNES)

Space: the final frontier. These are the voyages of the starship Enterprise. It's 2009 J.J. Abrams-led mission: to explore strange new ways to anger fans of the franchise, to seek out new life and new civilizations that will waste their money on total garbage, to boldly go where no man has gone before or ever wants to go again. Chris Pine plays James T. Kirk, a slimy tool bag whose life trajectory gets wildly altered when a time-traveling genocidal maniac appears out of nowhere and forces his dad into becoming a kamikaze. However, none of this ends up mattering because fate (and bad writing) leads him back to the same place he would have been all along with all of the same people around him. Zachary Quinto plays twenty-something Spock, an emotionally repressed half-human, half-Vulcan first officer with serious mommy issues. This guy is supposed to be all calm and logical, but he's about as prone to violent outbursts as Alec Baldwin. Eric Bana plays Nero, an interstellar space miner with Mike Tysonesque facial tattoos who loses his wife when a star explodes and destroys his home planet. Then, for no reason, he becomes hellbent on revenge against Spock, who was trying to save his home planet, and he ends up traveling back in time and decimating Spock’s homeworld. Leonard Nimoy plays old Spock from an alternative timeline, a Vulcan ambassador who doesn’t appear to be very good at diplomacy, because his actions lead to an interstellar incident that claims the lives of billions. Zoë Saldana plays Uhura, a beautiful communications officer who Kirk is obsessed with, but she ends up with Spock because no bad movie is complete without a love triangle. Karl Urban plays Bones, a physician and bitter divorcee who joins Star Fleet because he can't stand to even be on the same planet as his ex-wife. Simon Pegg plays Scotty, a bumbling engineer who always manages to narrowly get the crew out of jams through sheer dumb luck. John Cho plays Sulu, a katana brandishing helmsman who slices and dices his enemies faster than a Veg-O-Matic. Join us as we discuss James T. Kirk's creepiness in this, our desire to have Tyler Perry as Madea rather than just playing it straight here, and the likelihood of whether Jane Goodall banged any of her beloved chimps.  Tell us what you think by chatting with us (@filmsnuff) on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, or by shooting us an email over at mailbag@filmsnuff.com. John is not as fond of it as Frank is. John also delves a bit into the Occult with his Lepracaun Trap. John says it involves alchemy and the Seal of Solomon. I couldn't say but it looks cool and if he manages to catch a Leprechaun hopefully he'll share the wealth. And Frank talks about Extra Credits, and specifically Extra History. It's a Youtube channel that talks about game development and concepts but also has a spin-off series that delves into different historical topics. It's pretty fantastic! And of course: John gives out advice... badly! In John's Bad Advice. For the main event Frank and John chat about the Netflix series produced and co-created by Guillermo Del Toro: Trollhunters. If you haven't watched it, and you like animated series (or cartoons) then you owe yourself a favor to check this out. If you have older kids, then you should down and watch it with them because it's pretty fantastic and has an amazing amount of emotional depth. It's probably one of the best produced series that Dreamworks has come out with. That being said, mentioning Trollhunters without mentioning the incredibly tragic death of Anton Yelchin would be a mistake. Anton voices the protagonist Jim Lake. Yelchin was a talented actor and his potential will sadly never be realized.

This week on the Harold & Maudecast's Now Streaming Reviews, STAR TREK BEYOND! It premiered at Comic Con in July 2016 and has just been released on DVD and is Now Streaming on Amazon and other VOD services. This time around, James T. Kirk (Chris Pine) and the crew of the enterprise head into uncharted space on a rescue mission to help an alien ship that has been attacked by an unknown foe. After discovering there is no ship to rescue, they quickly find themselves under attack by a new enemy, Krall (Idris Elba) and his army who capture the crew, destroy the ship, and leave Jim and the gang dispersed and defenseless on an alien planet. As Jim tries to save his crew members, Krall plots to destroy the Federation. It's up to our heroes to stop him. START TREK BEYOND, is an action packed, visually exciting, fun thrill ride. All the returning Enterprise crew members are back including Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Karl Urban, Zoe Saldana, Jon Cho and Anton Yelchin. New to space in addition to Idris Elba brilliantly playing bad guy Krall is Sofia Boutella (KINGSMAN: THE SECRET SERVICE) as alien baddass, Jaylah. Sweet tributes to Yelchin and Leonard Nimoy who both passed in 2016. Much justice for STAR TREK BEYOND. This 3rd installment of the JJ Abrahams reboot is helmed by Justin Lin (Fast Furious franchise) and written by Simon Pegg (aka Scotty) and Doug Jung (CONFIDENCE). The new direction and writing makes an enormous impact on the blueprint of the film, sending us into uncharted territory with this franchise. Witty, fresh, and captivating from beginning to end, STAR TREK BEYOND is definitely worth the Stream. 8.5/10

In this episode of Stage Nine, Mike and John continue their "Shocktober" celebration by looking at Green Room. Hey Let's Talk About That Movie or Whatever

We talked about Odd Thomas as a sort of elegy for Anton Yelchin. Logan tries to steer us away from getting too sad, which is weird since he picked this movie, presumably in an attempt to make us very sad. This episode is being posted in the wake of Hurricane Hermine, so you know at least one of us survived, but since it was recorded a while back, you'll have to keep listening for another month or so to find out which one(s)! Kevin praises this as one of Yelchin's finest performances, Dylan apparently just discovered cold brew coffee, and Matt says something really smart and funny at the beginning of the show, but everybody else pretends it's not that great because they're jealous. Goodbye, Anton Yelchin. We all liked you.

Headline Nerds- 'Star Trek' actor Anton Yelchin is killed in a freak car accident at his Los Angeles home. (June 19) LOS ANGELES (AP) — Anton Yelchin, a rising actor best known for playing Chekov in the new "Star Trek" films, was killed by his own car as it rolled down his driveway.. The car pinned the 27 Yelchin against a brick mailbox pillar and a security fence at his home in Los Angeles, He had gotten out of the vehicle momentarily, but police did not say why he was behind it when it started rolling. Yelchin was on his way to meet friends for a rehearsal, When he didn't show up, the group came to his home and found him dead. The freak accident tragically cuts short the promising career of an actor whom audiences were still getting to know and who had great artistic ambition. "Star Trek Beyond," the third film in the rebooted series, comes out in July. May the force of a gigantic robot be with you- Legendary Pictures has set Star Wars: The Force Awakens star John Boyega for the lead role for the second installment of its Pacific Rim franchise. Steven S. DeKnight is directing the film, which will begin production in the fourth quarter of this year, based on the world created by Guillermo del Toro and Travis Beacham. Boyega will play the son of the character played by Idris Elba in the del Toro-directed original film. del Toro said: “I am very proud and happy to welcome John into a fantastic sandbox. The Pacific Rim universe will be reinforced with him as a leading man as it continues to be a multicultural, multi-layered world. ‘The World saving the world’ was our goal and I couldn’t think of a better man for the job.” Star Trek, to bloodily go where no one has gore before - ENLARGE PHOTO Showrunner Bryan Fuller points out that the upcoming Star Trek TV series will be unlike any previous small-screen incarnation of the franchise in at least one key respect, It won’t be bound by broadcast content standards. Fuller said that the eagerly awaited new show, which will debut on CBS in January but then switch to the streaming service CBS All Access, will have a rather different prime directive than the previous 762 hours of TV-sized Trek, which either ran entirely on broadcast networks or in syndication. “Because we’re CBS All Access, we’re not subject to network broadcast standards and practices.” “It will likely affect us more in terms of what we can do graphically. Star Trek’s not necessarily a universe where I want to hear a lot of profanity.” Hodor, Hodor, Ho da door please- Being a Game of Thrones fan means you always have to be prepared to say goodbye to one of your beloved characters. Unless we're talking about Jon Snow—lucky guy, getting resurrected and everything. With that being said, with most characters, when they're gone, they're really gone. While Hodor lovers might still be recovering from the loyal servant's demise, there will always be memes to memorialize his impact. And it looks like people are remembering him in quite the clever fashion. People have been putting up little pictures of Hodor next to the Hold Door buttons on elevators prompting people to be as nice and gallant as Hodor and hold the door for your fellow human beings. This way, Hodor will be with us forever. Goin’ to the Pokey man- “The new augmented reality game Pokemon Go has gotten people off the couch and into the real world. But police in O’Fallon, Missouri say that four men have used the game to find players at a specific location, and robbed them using a handgun. About eight or nine people have been robbed by four men over the past couple of days, a spokesperson from the O’Fallon Police Department told Gizmodo over the phone. The latest robbery occurred Sunday morning at around 2am by the men in a black BMW before they were finally apprehended by police. The suspects used the Pokemon Go game to find their victims by anticipating where people might go through popular PokeStops—virtual sites in the game that c

It's episode 45... and a lesson in playing impromptu gigs at Nazi clubs! Note: We recorded this episode a few weeks ago. Since then, we've heard the tragic news of Anton Yelchin's death. Yelchin played Pat in this week's movie. It was a quality performance, which made it very clear that he was a talented actor with a big future ahead of him. There's not much that we can add without sounding exploitative or cliche, but naturally our hearts are with his loved ones, and although it's probably impossible to watch his movies without a certain filter of tragedy, we'd encourage you to seek one out in memoriam.  Green Room (2016) tells the story of a punk band who play a gig at a neo-nazi club. After their set, they stumble across a recent murder which the nazis are keen to keep quiet... and it all goes down-hill from there. We talk about the importance of safety around dogs; rational processes for mellowing aggressive individuals; and the relative dangers of telling the audience at your gig to 'eff off'. All of which leads to one big question:  How would you survive? Whatever happens, one thing's for sure... tell somebody who gives a sh*t. Another classic film solved by the best movie podcast in the world.
