One of the most important aspects of covenant relationship is love. That prompted the title of this study––Evidences of God's Love: A study of Section 109. We will pair this scripture study with the messages from conference that will help us to learn important truths from both modern and ancient prophets as we study these covenant verses.

Warning!! As ever, contains drunken opinions and lots of swearing that could possibly irritate or offend. Also it was raining during the recording, sorry. Also, Mark is sat in the most squeeky chair ever. Hope you gain some kind of enjoyment from all this anyway, if you do, why not like and share this podcast? Not Your Final Girl is catching the zeitgeist with this one. In this episode, Candace and Ariel talk to writer and graphic designer Julie Mana-ay about early 2000’s slasher powerhouse and undying franchise, Wrong Turn (2003) - as well as its socially conscious-ish reboot, Wrong Turn (2021). We learn many important lessons in the process, such as the names of the mutant cannibals (Three Finger, Saw Tooth, and One Eye), the difference between a story credit and a writing credit, and the correct pronunciation of Dushku. Remakes are always fun to talk about (even if they’re not technically…. good), so let’s get into one of the weirder original/remake pairs we’ve come across. We’ve got low rise jeans, Wicker Man (2006) style folk horror attempts, bad (but effective?) small team tactics, a woke mountain cult, explosions, and characters who have seen horror movies but still make all the worst decisions. Stick with us, listeners, we have been hiking more than once and would never put your chair into poison ivy. Julie Mana-ay (pronounced Ma-na-eye) Perez is a Kern County native and is a graphic designer and writer for The Bakerfield Californian and Bakersfield Life Magazine. She loves all things spooky — from horror films to true crime podcasts and watching her Sims characters die. A proud part of the Morbidly Beautiful Podcast Network. Our drive for intersectionality aligns well with the Morbidly Beautiful ethos. We love that MB is a nonprofit that gives back to the horror community, and are thrilled to be a part of the network! Movie Meltdown - Episode 533 This episode we talk with the famous (or infamous) Sam Drog about a lesser-known documentary - Demon Lover Diary. In the wilds of Michigan, three unsuspecting filmmakers get themselves in over their heads as they sign on to help make an independent horror film. And as we make the obvious observation that we’ve all become lame, sad shut-ins, we also mention… missing fingers, Ted Nugent, Tenet, Basket Case 3, a Terry Gillian and/or George Orwellian nightmare, Geostorm 2, The 100, George Miller, the evil scientists, Divergent, Wargames, James Cameron, the history of movies you don’t hear about, gunplay, Charles Bronson, leather buckles everywhere, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, being so certain about something, New York vs. Michigan, New World Pictures, a bad mojo, fly on the wall, The Devil's Rain, it’s really almost like they found a movie in a box they forgot to release, with his sheer force of personality, memories of Jason Voorhees, True Lies, have a little artistic flare when you’re gonna go murder people, exposition scenes, time caspsule, hey we’ve got these guns laying around, if you’re gonna comment about society - you’ve gotten be from a safe distance, man’s folly, The Ann Arbor Film Festival, havok-causing dreams, you don’t see the waves of madness that you are generating, a certain level of success is pretty fleeting, a window into the 70s, reality distortion field, I Like to Hurt People, it’s an amazing thing… films… how they tie us all together like that, Dushku in our lives, Gerard Butler, being a trucker, Ally Sheedy, watching the pretty pictures go by, that scene is haunting, everybody is under the tyranny of somebody else’s dream, zombie apocalypse, the public discourse has moved on, Galaxy of Terror, culture differences, dreams are weird… they can set you free - and they can also crush you, Fury Road, keep the kids and the guns in their own area, George Romero and a speedometer factory. Spoiler Alert: Sure it’s a documentary… but there are still some strange turns that come along that you may not see coming. So go watch “Demon Lover Diary” before you listen. “It’s just such a raw like... something smuggled out of somebody’s closet kind of movie.” Sam Drog artwork by Liam Jax - Demon Lover Diary artwork by Jenn Woodall

Surprise! We're putting up an episode! And buckle up, because we are about to embark on a journey that no one asked for. We're watching all the Bring It On movies. There are six. This is the first (and perhaps only good) one. Enjoy!
But it's already been broughten! For Scoring At The Movies’ 28th dose of sports filmy-ness, we covered---yes---a cheerleading movie. Kirsten Dunst & Eliza Dushku are a pretty good team and director Peyton Reed made his movie bright, enthusiastic and fun. The depiction of the sport seems pretty bang-on too and the story has a nice Hoosiers-esque feel as our (mostly) lily-white underdogs take on black, inner-city kids who are clearly more talented than them. Unfortunately, the flick just isn’t very funny and Jesse Bradford rubbed Chris very wrong in a series of ways. So, yeah, this one just wasn't our bag. Anyway, we've got a good gab here, so engage your cheer hands, Meet Ranchers! Tweets abound (well, not so much “abound”): @moviefiend51 and @scoringatmovies In 2 weeks: The Natural
This week we embark on a majestic, epic, beautiful, and magnificent journey with the classic Japanese anthology film, Kwaidan. With virtually nothing that didn’t work for either Tim or Ryan, it’s no surprise they rated this a “rent” and “buy,” respectively. The guys truly gush over the artistry and depth of these four ghost stories, as well as take care of clearing up Tim’s pronunciation of Ms. Dushku’s first name from the Wrong Turn episode. Where we watched: Blu-ray RecommenDEADtions: The Gate / Pontypool Kwaidan (1964) Directed by Masaki Kobayashi Written by Yoko Mizuki
This week we take an interesting and unassuming dive (let’s call it “the Dushku effect”) into a quintessential film in Ryan’s adolescence, Wrong Turn. Tim and Ryan take an arrow to the eyeball for this mid-2000’s, hillbilly-horror vehicle: not even Eliza Dushku or “Mr. Serious“ could completely save this “stupid, stupid, stupid” film. Despite Ryan’s deep love for it, (and the subsequent high school game of “Dushku” it spawned) he gave it a “rent” while Tim handed it a weak “stream.” Where we watched: Amazon Rental RecommenDEADtions: I Saw The Devil / We Are What We Are Wrong Turn (2003) Directed by Rob Schmidt Written by Alan B. Jen from the Pilot Inspectors podcast returns to talk about the Eliza Dushku led Nurses. Dushku plays Eve who has a new job at a hospital run by her disapproving dick of a father and where her smarmy dick of a step-brother also works. We talk about the problematic nature of some of the pilot, one character in particular but we do actually give credit where it is due in parts. We also discuss the fact they were clearly copying Grey's Anatomy. Oh and Buffy reunion as Tom Lenk is briefly in the pilot. This episode was recorded in October 2018.
Compliance into the Weeds is the only weekly podcast which takes a deep dive into a compliance related topic, literally going into the weeds to more fully explore a subject. In this episode, Matt Kelly (the coolest guy in compliance) and I take a deep dive into the recent report in the New York Timesabout the settlement of CBS with the actor Eliza Dushku over allegations of retaliation for reporting sexual harassment by CBS series star in the TV drama Bull, Michael Weatherly. The entire episode exposed the culture at CBS and the failure in the structure of the company’s compliance program. After reporting unwanted and/or inappropriate behavior, Dushku’s character was literally written out of the series. She went to mediation over the retaliation for her internal reporting. In a formal mediation process, CBS’s attempted to assassinate her character but the evidence presented backfired on CBS as it proved the harassment. Worse yet the character assassination attempts were made by a CBS lawyer who is also the company’s Chief Compliance Officer. Some of the highlights include: Ø There were two forces at work which amplified the negative actions and effects.Ø The interest of CBS legal was to attack the accuser and settle the lawsuit. Ø The interest of a CCO should have been was to prevent, detect and remediate the issue so that it would create a speak up culture. Ø When you subordinate an ethical culture to a legal position, it works to destroy employee trust and morale. A portion of our Young Turks Main Show from January 15th, 2018. For more go to http://www.tytnetwork.com/join. Hour 1: Cenk & Ana. Donald Trump has defended himself amid international outrage over offensive comments he is accused of making about some African, Central American and Caribbean countries, insisting: “I am not a racist.” The US president was condemned by the United Nations and the African Union (AU) after it was reported that he had referred to Haiti, El Salvador and nations in Africa as “shithole countries” during a White House meeting last week. As Trump headed to dinner at his golf club in Florida on Sunday, he was confronted by a reporter: “What do you say to people who say you’re a racist?” The president said: “No, no, I’m not a racist. I am the least racist person you have ever interviewed, that I can tell you.” Hour 2: Cenk & Ana. The Treasury Department has paid nearly $300,000 since 2003 to settle employment claims against House member offices that included allegations of sexual harassment or sex discrimination, according to a Washington Post tally of data provided by a House committee. Actress Eliza Dushku earlier today accused famed stunt coordinator Joel Kramer of sexually molesting her when she was 12 years old during filming of True Lies. Her claims, denied by Kramer, are being confirmed by Sue Booth-Forbes, who was Dushku’s legal guardian on the set of the film. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
