An award-winning global director of cirque, cinema and stage. As a comic act designer he specializes in clowns, characters and story components. Stefan is the author of The Power of HA!Connecting Through the Heart of Humor. He studied theatre in college only to realize that his true passion lay in the cross-over to the circus arts, so he set his sights on Cirque du Soleil. As a result of his intuitive gift for mining actors' true potential, various sit-coms hired him to coach actors, including The Roseanne Show. After self-producing a number of critically acclaimed plays in Hollywood and New York City (Call of the Wild, Midsummer Nite's Text, Your Town Follies, Moon Over Madness, Atomic Holiday Lift-Off) he traveled to Europe to juggle on the streets and study with the premiere master-teacher, Philippe Gaulier. This move resulted in a collaboration with Bill Irwin and David Shiner on the Tony- winning show Fool Moon. Haves was then poached by Cirque du Soleil, collaborating on clown and character performances within six touring and resident productions (Kooza, Iris, Amaluna, Banana Shpeel, Zaya, and Drawn to Life). Prior to that, he wrote and directed the world-class Teatro Zinzanni—a dinner/ cabaret featuring such luminaries as Joan Baez. Today, Stefan Haves is a trusted international thought-leader who was tapped to present a TedX Talk in New Delhi, India, and was invited to conduct personal appearances for blue-chip companies like PepsiCo, Infosys, Mindtree, and Barclays Bank. He gleefully shares his innovative message on the role of humor, creativity, and effective expression gleaned from the stage and applied to the corporate workplace. In 2021 Haves was granted the opportunity to co-direct Katy Perry's Playland-branded New Year's dinner/cirque event at Hilton's Resort World in Las Vegas. Earlier in his career, Haves cut his teeth as an actor and a visual-comedian who appeared on stages and television shows worldwide—even garnering $10,000 on America's Funniest People by performing his signature piece "Back-Man". Stefan's 2016 original conception of the spectacle Festigal, in which Haves was tasked to showcase famous pop celebrities from television's Romania's Got Talent, used a Cirque du Soleil aesthetic in a stadium setting. His cinematic offerings include the award-winning short film Punch Drunk, featuring Academy Award nominee Sally Kellerman (M*A*S*H) and full-length feature Stalled starring Doug Jones (Pan's Labyrinth).

https://Art2Life.com - I love how the art-making journey can begin in the most unexpected, inconspicuous ways. Everyone's origin story is different, but we all share the spark. That moment on what was most likely on an ordinary day, while doing seemingly unimportant things, where IT happened. A chance meeting with someone. The first paragraph of a book you happened to glance at, left behind at your table by someone you didn't know. Or perhaps it was a piece of art you saw that changed everything. It increased the volume of the call to your art just loud enough that you couldn't somehow begin. For Daniel Wurtzel, the Brooklyn-based air installation and performance artist, it was simply a leaf amazingly suspended above a subway air grate. It was hovering, as if by magic, 12 inches above the ground. Something about this moment stirred him. He couldn't let it go. He had to follow its path. Daniel Wurtzel began. Today, Daniel's ethereal air sculptures have been seen in Cirque du Soleil in Amaluna, the Sochi Winter Olympics Closing Ceremony, and countless museums and science centers across the globe. His kinetic sculptures and installations combine the lightweight and poetic materials of paper, silk, and glitter with the most wondrous but invisible material of all: Air. ================================ LISTEN IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN… Getting to know Daniel Wurtzel and his gravity-defying art [2:35] The truth in materials and why ideas are so important to the creative process [7:22] How Daniel freed his art and found his way in the art world [12:28] Gifts from the natural world and the power of noticing [20:43] The role music and performance play in Daniel's art [25:11] The moment Daniel knew he found his art [28:32] Diving into Daniel's creative process [33:20] Looking down the road ahead [37:21] Going outside of yourself and the most important choice an artist can make [39:38] ================================ RESOURCES MENTIONED Richard Serra (Artist): https://www.guggenheim.org/artwork/artist/richard-serra Isamu Noguchi (Artist): https://www.noguchi.org ================================= CONNECT WITH DANIEL WURTZEL Website: https://www.danielwurtzel.com/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/danielwurtzel Chaos: Making a New Science (Book): https://www.amazon.com/Chaos-Making-Science-James-Gleick/dp/0143113453 ============================= CONNECT WITH NICHOLAS WILTON AND ART2LIFE: Get the Free COLOR TIPS PDF: https://workshop.art2life.com/color-tips-pdf-podcasts/ Follow the Sunday Art2Life Vlog: https://art2life.lpages.co/sign-up-for-the-a2l-vlog/ Follow Nicholas Wilton's Art on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/nicholaswilton/ Follow Art2Life on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/art2life_world/?hl=en Like on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/art2lifeworld Subscribe on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCe8dJWKgPKkW4W3fsb1vLeg

Guys, I’ve been dying to show you this one. I think I don’t need to explain who Yulya Mihailova is, as she is probably the most famous female handbalancer and contortionist in the circus world and the world of social media. After meeting her husband, Andrii Bondarenko, I was determined to get to meet her too and share our conversation with all of you. She is a shining star and has been on stage with the Cirque du Soleil show Amaluna for over 8 years. At the time we met (in June 2019) she had just left the show and was generous enough to spend some time with us and share some of her story and why she decided to leave. In this interview she tells us about how she got started in handbalance and how her mother was against her going down this kind of carreer path at first. She also tells us about her relationship with her husband Andrii, her two daughters and how difficult it is to have the family in one place, given the nature of their jobs. When I met her I was struck by her amazing charm and kindness. Yulya is such a sweet person, a strong woman and has so much to give. She has so many interesting stories to tell, she could easily write a book about her life as a performer, coach, mother and wife. I hope she finds the time someday to execute on that! I was lucky, because I got to meet with her during an interesting time for her, where she was at the beginning of a new stage in her life, moving on to new projects. She and Andrii are not only stars on the stage, but are starting to teach more and more across the globe (#couplegoals). I hope you enjoy this conversation as much as I did! I’m sure you already follow Yulya on Instagram, but if you don’t, go do it right now! IG: @djilieta P.S.: Consider supporting us so we can keep producing content! Randy Weiner is a playwright, producer and theater and nightclub owner. Weiner is the creator of Queen of the Night at the Paramount Hotel in New York City, and recently served as the dramaturg for Cirque du Soleil's Amaluna. He, along with a few other theater school graduates, established a small theater troupe in New York City called Project 400 Theatre Group, which specializes in creating avant-garde musical productions which married classic theater and modern music. In collaboration with Diane Paulus, his wife, he co-created The Donkey Show, a disco adaptation of A Midsummer Night’s Dream which ran off-Broadway from 1999 to 2005. In February 2007, Weiner co-founded (with partners Richard Kimmel and Simon Hammerstein) the Box theater on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. In January 2014, Weiner and partner Aby Rosen unveiled the Diamond Horseshoe supper club in midtown Manhattan. Randy Weiner could have done anything with his life. And he would have been a massive success at whatever he chose. Biochemist, lawyer, Hollywood screenwriter, Jewish hip-hop star . . . it all could have happened. We sat down to talk about how he carved this unique niche for himself and . . . How a Biochemistry Degree from Harvard helped prepare him for the theater. How his marketing budget for Sleep No More was ZERO. And why he thinks a Broadway show can do the same thing. What about Broadway terrifies him. Why his projects attract “The Cool Kids”. . . from celebrities to private equity firms. His strategy for raising money for projects that people can’t see beforehand. An update on Melanie Sinclair (front) the NCAA star, who's kicking ass as an Amazon in Cirque du Soliel's Amaluna. First! We present our scientific review of Amaluna. Then our guest, is the vivacious and effervescent, Melanie Sinclair. Before becoming an acrobat in Cirque du Soliel's goddess powered Amaluna, she was a US National Team member during the Nastia, Sacramone, Memmel years. Always a fan favorite for her sideline antics (see gif and videos below) and emotional filled routines, she finally gained the attention she deserved at University of Florida. She was a leader on the team, putting Florida on the map. She was fun to watch no matter what she was doing - competing or dancing with herself during warmups. She exemplifies all of the reasons gymnastics fans adore NCAA gymnastics. We discuss: The old school uneven bars act she performs in Amaluna Growing up at Orlando Metro under the tutelage of Jeff Wood and Christi Barineau The true friendship of her teammate, Amanda Castillo. How she became so consistent in college when it was so illusive in elite. The power of fun and being oneself in gymnastics. How she recovered when she gymnastics career was cut short and what advice she'd give to gymnasts in similar situations. How Cirque helps her treat her body like a temple and stay healthy even after a lifetime of gymnastics. The rhythms and cycles of a predominantly female cast. Above - Her career wasn't complete without Amanda Castillo. Everything about Cirque's AMALUNA. This show features college gymnastics' uneven-bar favorites: Amara (Amy) Defilippo (Arkansas), Melissa Fernandez (Illinois), Summar Hubbard (LSU), Linday Bruck-Ayotte (Michigan), Brittany Urbain (Iowa) and Laura-Ann Chong (Oregon).
