BEN BAKER returns to talk about his book THE DREAMS WE HAD AS CHILDREN First broadcast on FAB RADIO INTERNATIONAL at 19:00 on January 7th 2024 Forty years ago this very week, after experimenting with the format through a strand called WATCH IT! during the previous three years or so, CHILDREN'S ITV was launched as an attempt at a coherent approach to children's television output with linked presentations transmitted across the whole of the ITV network in the afternoon slot from 4:00pm to 5:15 on weekday afternoons. And, to a lesser or greater extent, with an eventual switch to a designated Freeview Channel, the CITV brand managed to stagger on for nearly forty years until the plug was finally pulled in September last year, and Children's programming was shifted to ITVX. This fascinating era produced a whole wealth of fondly – and not so fondly -remembered programming of course, as Children do become very attached to their favourites, and, after far too long an absence from VISION ON SOUND which is all down to me sometimes being a little bit forgetful about these kinds of things, BEN BAKER is back this week to talk about the very personal book he has written THE DREAMS WE HAD AS CHILDREN which picks out his personal choice of the very best CITV had to offer between 1983 and its demise in 2023. PLEASE NOTE - For Copyright reasons, musical content sometimes has to be removed for the podcast edition. All the spoken word content remains (mostly) as it was in the broadcast version. Hopefully this won't spoil your enjoyment of the show.

Its BBC equivalent, CBBC, is expected to also be online-only in the next few years. The podcast is taking a break until 2023. However, I am releasing a one off special with Steve Ryde which I recorded earlier this year. Steve has an amazing CV when it comes to his work in children's television. Steve started out acting in the likes of 'Your Mother Wouldn't Like It' and 'Palace Hill' in the 1980's. Between 1993-1998 Steve was the voice of the continuity links on CITV and often appeared in many of the promos too. From May 1998 Steve moved to producing CITV when it returned to in-vision pres continuity and was responsible for choosing Stephen Mulhern and Danielle Nicholls to be the new faces of the relaunch. During his CITV days he also acted in Wizadora as Tatty Bogle. Following a move to CBBC in the early 2000's he devised Dick and Dom in Da Bungalow and his voice talents were heard frequently during games of 'Bogies' as the 'Bogey-O-Meter'. His other CBBC credits include devising the likes of The Slammer, Chute, The Legend of Dick and Dom and Crackerjack.

Ho ho ho! The gang's all here for this year's festive episode as we are joined by Nurse Jessie, Sam Pamphilon and Steve Hill! Is Sam divorced yet? Has Nurse Jessie got a new job? Why are Ellie and James Bond responsible for Steve getting corona? And is it true that we all have two sphincters? Tune in to find out! We cover a host of highbrow topics from how men go to the toilet to when it's OK to fart in front of a new lover. Ham Review almost ends in a fistfight, and Sam tells a lovely Christmassy story about a Coke Zero bottle full of piss. Finally, as a special treat, The Accent Game returns. NB: Unfortunately there were some technical issues with this recording - some gremlins got in and made parts of the podcast sound all roboty. So we had to delete some bits, such as Sam's chat about what he's been up to (a new baby and a new telly show!), Jessie's gift swap (we got her some feminine hygiene wash!), and the boys' turn at the Accent Game (probably for the best.) On this special episode of CITV, Dr. Leonard Faye and Prof. Frederick (Ted) Carrick discuss the evolution of spinal manipulation and Dr. Leonard Faye's contribution to the profession. Dr. Faye and Prof. Carrick have been close friends for 45 years and their conversations are uniquely personal as they embrace the profession. Dr. Leonard Faye was the creator of the original Motion Palpation (MPI) Seminars, compiling the core information included in the text book entitled, “Motion Palpation and Chiropractic Technique” by Schafer & Faye. He has presented clinical programs of instruction internationally over a 50 + year career and still maintains an active clinical practice in Los Angeles, California. Dr Faye has treated a host of patients from Olympians to the person next door as he spearheaded a paradigm shift from a static vertebral subluxation model to a dynamic, heuristic, subluxation-complex model. Dr. Faye’s clinical practice and engaging presentations have included a pioneering hands on simulation into the clinical fabric of health care. Perhaps, more than anyone, he has lived the life of a change agent that has gifted clinicians of all disciplines with a determination to attain excellence in practice and service to humankind.

At the Mystery on the Rocks bar you’ll find a retired sleuth, the bartender trying to settle his tab, and the down-on-her-luck lounge singer, solving mysteries and drinking cocktails. Each week a new guest enters the bar and attempts to solve an unsolved mystery alongside the regulars. Hosted by Masud Milas, Chris Stokes, and Sooz Kempner. It’s a high concept comedy and true crime podcast, set in a fictional crime-solving bar (with real cocktails!). The focus of the show is to attempt to crack a real, unsolved mystery from history – true crime and bizarre occurrences, all with a whodunnit or WTF happened question hanging over them.
