The Pigskin Dispatch podcast delves into the recently released top 100 players list of the New York Giants, celebrating the team's rich history as they mark their 100th anniversary. Host Darin Hayes begins with a brief introduction to the significance of the list, which was curated by an independent committee of esteemed journalists, NFL executives, and passionate fans. He highlights the notable names involved in the selection process, including Hall of Famers and seasoned sports writers, setting the stage for a thoughtful discussion on the rankings and their implications. As the episode unfolds, Hayes meticulously reviews the top 10 players on the list, with Lawrence Taylor unsurprisingly taking the number one spot, recognized as one of the greatest defensive players in NFL history. He expresses agreement with the top-tier selections while also noting some controversial placements, particularly the positioning of a punter at number 47, which he finds questionable. This leads to a deeper reflection on how modern biases may have influenced the rankings, prompting listeners to consider the criteria used for evaluating players from different eras. The conversation evolves into an examination of the players who were included and those who were left out, raising intriguing questions about the selection process. Hayes passionately argues for the inclusion of former Giants quarterback Ed Danowski, who won two NFL championships, suggesting that his contributions merit recognition over some modern players whose impact may not match Danowski's legacy. Throughout the episode, Hayes provides insights into the careers of various Giants legends, balancing historical context with personal anecdotes and opinions. He invites listeners to engage with the discussion by sharing their thoughts and experiences, creating a sense of community among Giants fans and football enthusiasts alike. As the episode comes to a close, Hayes encourages listeners to explore the complete list on giants.com and stay tuned for future shows that will further celebrate the Giants' storied past. This engaging episode serves as both a nostalgic look back at the Giants' illustrious history and a thought-provoking analysis of how player rankings can be subjective and influenced by contemporary perspectives. By dissecting the top 100 list, Hayes not only honors the legacy of the Giants but also fosters a meaningful dialogue about the evolution of the game and the players who have shaped its history. The podcast provides a platform for fans to reflect on their own favorite players and moments, ensuring that the spirit of the Giants continues to thrive as they celebrate their centennial milestone.Join us at the Pigskin Dispatch website and the Sports Jersey Dispatch to see even more Positive football news! Thirty-four years ago, Dr. Debbie Danowski weighing 328 pounds realized that her life was unmanageable and she decided to enter a food addiction recovery program. Today Dr. Danowski maintains a 170 weight loss through a daily recovery routine. In this podcast, we discuss denial, powerlessness and the negative consequences of food addiction. Getting the message out about food addiction is the driving force in all of her work and the release of her newest book Happy Eating and Food Addiction in American Advertising which profiles how the food and drink industries are contributing to food addiction and obesity in the U.S. In her research for her book, she watched over 500 food advertisements and outlined specific techniques used in advertisements for ultra-processed foods, which promise consequence-free eating to consumers while encouraging the over-consumption of unhealthy and addictive foods and drinks. Dr. Danowski presents an analysis of promotional methods in the context of food addiction characteristics and behaviors through an exploration of the themes used in this type of advertising such as using food to rebel, play, relax and achieve happiness and good health. Listen to Dr. Debbie Danowski explain how as a food addict she recovered and how her career has been spent on helping others understand the truth about it and how the food industry plays a role. From animal spirit masters in Labrador to the foundations of climate science, they discuss why the concept of "world" is so contentious, and even at the brink of collapse. They navigate our entangled concepts of nature, culture, and the idyllic nurturing earth through the work of Hannah Arendt and Arturo Escobar. Is the world of animals the same as our own? And, what could it mean to imagine a world where many worlds fit? As we discuss often on this podcast, “gender affirming care” can appeal to trauma survivors as an enticing way out of pain. Some of these people go through the entire process of medical intervention only to find themselves pursuing detransition. This week I am joined by Torren Danowski, a detransitioner who found himself in this exact situation. Torren and I discuss his unique story from his struggle with gender dysphoria, and his adventure with psychedelics, to the place of faith, religion, ministry and church in his life. Torren reminds us of the deeper work it takes to truly discover one's identity, and urges listeners to align your journey first with learning how to suffer well. Torren Danowski is a detransitioned man living in Philadelphia. He attempted transition twice in his early 30s after struggling with gender most of his life. But once he realized that his gender dysphoria was actually the symptom of something deeper, he began addressing that deeper issue, and saw the pain of gender dysphoria begin to subside. Torren was involved in Libertarian politics and ran for Pennsylvania State Representative in 2022. He has since stepped away from politics and is seeking a career change, moving from corporate America to exploring counseling, psychology, and theology. In episode 178 of The Just Checking In Podcast we checked in with Torren Danowski. Torren is the Founder of 'Don't Tread On Philly', a U.S. libertarian political organisation and the former Libertarian candidate for Mayor of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He has also transitioned and then detransitioned at two different stages of his life. In this episode we discuss his experience of anxiety and depression, workplace bullying, perfectionism and how all of these factors led to the sex dysphoria he went onto experience. Once he began experiencing this dysphoria, he says he saw it and transition as an escape from the issues he was running away from. He is also brave enough to admit there was some elements of what my previous guest N-Jada called ‘romantic autogynephilia'. Torren transitioned and began going by his trans name of Audrey. However, after a dream he had followed by a 3-week period of realisation, he came to the conclusion that continuing to live as a transwoman was not the path for him and he subsequently detransitioned back to living as Torren. We discuss this entire journey, from transition to detransition and how he's got to the state of stability and happiness he is now. We also discuss how sex dysphoria is affecting the mental health of other young boys and men like him, why he thinks we need to move away from a black and white thinking towards treatment of sex dysphoria itself and what we need to do to help these boys find purpose, direction and the right path for them, whether its transition or not. On the heels of the NCAA Tournament Selection Show, IL's Terry Foy talks to Committee Chair and Denver Associate AD Brandon Macneill about the choices that created the field, Pioneer coach Bill Tierney on the final season of his distinguished career coming to an end, Duke coach John Danowski on making it back to the Dance after missing out last year, Michigan coach Kevin Conry on his team's magical week, Bryant coach Brad Ross on picking up where his predecessor left off, Hopkins coach Pete Milliman on his program taking the next step back to "where it belongs" and Yale coach Andy Shay on the emotions of being the last team in off the bubble.
In this episode, I have a conversation with Torren Danowski, founder of Don't Tread on Philly. Torren is a Christian who has gone through a journey through his struggle with gender dysphoria, which led him to, at one point in the past, live as a transgender woman. Torren shares his testimony and perspective, and then we dive into the current political landscape to explore where many conservative pundits are going astray in approaching the topic of transgenderism despite having mostly accurate positions on what the Bible teaches about sex, marriage, sin and our identities. I spoke with Torren at the end of 2020 about his struggles with gender, black and white thinking, and Obsessive-Compulsive ideation. A couple weeks ago he reached out to me inquiring if I had heard of psychedelic therapies for these issues, and I only had heard anecdotes. He then shared his libertarian podcast with me and I was amazed at his change of attitude and new-found confidence, so I wanted to have him back on to speak about what he's been through over the last (nearly) two years, in which he founded Don't Tread On Philly in response to the draconian civil rights violations of Philadelphia's pandemic response, and is now running for mayor on the Libertarian ticked. Are you ready to become a force for change in your relationships on and off campus?
The father-son duo of Duke Men’s Lacrosse Coaches John and Matt Danowski sits down for a conversation about growing up in the Danowski household and coaching together.

Writer and performer Christopher Danowski is my guest this week! I confidently told him as prep that I try not to talk too much so that he should speak freely, then proceeded to talk for a full minute before asking him a single question! Oops! But Chris still shared with me his thoughts on Theatre that challenges the audience, the double-edged sword of academic research, and why sometimes you should just say “fuck it” and do a sketch show. Chris is heading overseas to teach soon, but before he goes you can purchase his new book Dogsear. through Hoot n’ Waddle Press. The release party is September 15 from 5-7 PM at The Hive on 16th St. You can also see B3 Productions staging of Chris’ play Frogwomen opening November 10, more info at [thesicsense.com] Don’t forget to rate review and subscribe like your mama taught you!
