Alles in allem 95% weniger CO2-Ausstoß. Einfach anrufen, Patrick hilft beim Kopieren. After last week’s amazing episodes with Jenn Kautsch, I want to take a moment to talk about somatic work. I know it seems like a tough topic after the recent gut punch you may have experienced with uncomfortable episodes, but I promise that it is a really light discussion. A light episode on a hard topic. Today isn’t about how to process trauma; it’s about why you deserve to move through it.    Remember that in this Be You Collective, we are excavating our true selves. These uncomfortable topics are part of it, but let’s take it one step at a time and start with why. You won’t find somatic work in talk therapy or many coaching programs out there, but until I started doing this work, I was going nowhere. This work changed my life and is one of the reasons I’ve been motivated to share it with you.   Links and Resources: Join our text community! Text (260) 217-4675 to join! [4:51] - Initially the topic from the previous two episodes was not something Jill ever had in her plans, but she followed her intuition and truly feels that Jenn was placed in her path for a reason. [5:48] - For new listeners, don’t forget to join our text community by texting (260) 217-4675. [6:29] - This episode is a light one but on a hard topic. [7:25] - Jill is someone who has experienced all three types of trauma. She has moved through a lot of this trauma. [8:14] - In the course Jill is taking, Elementum, Jill is learning more and more about somatic work [9:22] - Before the age of 2, we have implicit memories. Implicit memories are the ones you cannot recall. If something happens and the child feels that it is traumatic, the body stores it. [10:00] - Another kind of trauma that is stored in your body that you can’t recall is something that may have happened after the age of 2 but your brain has stored it away. [11:37] - You are not going to be able to find somatic work for the most part in coaching or psychologists out there. [12:44] - There are many ways to process trauma, but this episode is taking it one step at a time by telling you why you deserve to start. [13:31] - “People who transmute trauma can have big lives,” Jill quotes a mentor. [14:39] - Think of releasing the trauma as making space for a reward. You have held it and have been stronger than other people and now you have so much more room for joy. [15:23] - The second reason that you deserve to do this is that when you and I get that out of us, you relieve yourself of a lot of head trash. You’re seeing clearly. [17:02] - Jill describes how you will be able to more successfully regulate your emotions. [18:01] - Jill explains how talk therapy never got her to the point of understanding why she would respond to certain things the way she did. Until she did somatic work, she had no idea. The understanding changed her life. [19:26] - “When you remove those traumas in your body, that energy, stuckness, pain, you unblock and unlock your intuition.” [20:17] - When you are “unclogged,” your intuition is crystal clear. That is the motivation for Jill to continue this uncomfortable work. [21:07] - This is a process that you don’t want to do completely on your own. [22:30] - Jill shares a conversation with a close friend and what it really means to follow your heart. [23:57] - Jill explains the difference between intuition and instinct. [25:27] - If there is anything about this episode that was worth your time, share it with others. I know there was something in this episode that you were meant to hear. Let me know what that is. Today is the day we celebrate 50 episodes of the Be You Podcast! My vibe and energy are so high and I am downright giddy. In this episode, I thank those who have helped me along this journey, share this milestone with you who have helped make this possible, and encourage you to follow your intuition like I did. It hasn’t all been easy, but it has been so worth it. By acknowledging my fear and pushing through it, I’ve made it here to this highly significant episode and I get to share it with you.   Through this episode, I also provide the ten important questions you need to ask your highest self. Write them down or take a screenshot, whichever works for you. But keep them. Learn them. And make them habitual.    What am I pretending not to know? Is this raising or lowering my vibe? How would the highest version of me show up right now? How did I cause this and attract it to me? Is this getting me the life I desire? What are you trying to teach me? Is it true or just true in my paradigm? Is this my business, their business or God's business? What is my body telling me? What would love do right now?   I cannot wait to hear from you and how these questions help you connect with your highest self. And I can’t wait to know how this Be You milestone is helping you follow your own intuition. Thank you for being here!   Show Notes: [2:07] - Jill shares the significance of this 50th episode for her and how the Be You Collective has grown to reach 20,000 downloads in 41 countries. [3:37] - Opening this milestone episode, Jill encourages us to listen to our hearts and not let our minds get in the way of our ideas and passions. [4:42] - There’s a reason ideas and passions come to us. They are put there with the intent of coming to fruition and your highest self trying to keep you on your path. [5:08] - Jill admits that she has let her brain distract her from her course with “buts.” [5:47] - This 50th episode illustrates why following your intuition is always the right answer. [7:18] - Jill explains that she has put all her trust in God regarding this podcast and admits that her brain has told her numerous times that it is too scary to do. This 50th episode celebration is so meaningful to her. [8:09] - The phrase “seeing is believing” isn’t always true. Jill explains how you have to believe before you can see. Even so, the evidence of the Be You Podcast’s success feels rewarding to see. [9:23] - Using the example of recent weight loss, Jill demonstrates how someone noticing the change in her confidence makes a difference in motivation. Even though she doesn’t need someone to notice, it felt good. [10:31] - This need for black and white evidence is why a lot of businesses fail. [11:27] - Jill takes a moment to thank her husband for his support in this podcast endeavor because he is also the type of person to believe before seeing. [13:11] - In addition to being supportive, Jill’s husband TK also jumped in to help with the first three episodes, completing all the editing with new equipment. [13:36] - Jill thanks her children and shares a story about her son and 14 of his teenage friends listening to her podcast and leaving great reviews. [14:32] - Although Jill mentions that although she had a hard childhood, her parents have grown into their role and are amazing and supportive parents through her adult life. [15:05] - Thanks to all of you in the Be Collective as well, for not only listening to the podcast, but also sharing and being a part of the community. [15:43] - Jill shares how this all came to be, starting with seeing an event of women speakers including Angie Lee and then getting connected with Lindsey Schwartz, author of Powerhouse Woman. [16:59] - After listening to Lindsey Schwartz’s podcast and digging for more information, Jill joined her mastermind. [18:29] - Jill thanks the women in the mastermind who have been supportive and encouraging throughout this new journey. [19:17] - Although Jill was hugely successful in her prior network marketing business, this has been a brand new experience where she was a beginner in the mastermind she joined. [20:20] - Jill also thanks the Juice Plus company for firing her. This isn’t a passive aggressive jab. If it hadn’t happened, she wouldn’t have started this podcast.  [22:07] - Losing that job was a rock bottom moment for Jill and she lists some of the choices you have when you hit that point, all of which she did. [23:51] - Although it was painful, Jill is thankful that she was terminated from her network marketing job and is also very thankful for the friends she made during her years in that career that rallied around her in this new chapter. [24:50] - Because of all of these life-changing events, Jill then was able to connect with her business coach Cayla Craft and other big names in this field. [25:53] - Because she was coaching with Cayla, Jill also found Stefanos and then hired him as a one-on-one marriage coach.  [27:08] - Things continue to lead to more opportunities for Jill. By hiring Stefanos, she connected with his wife as well. Stefanos and his wife created the intensive program that Jill is now a part of called Elementum. [28:18] - “Our intuition is always right. It’s our true north. It’s our way to come back home to ourselves. Our brain will always try and get in the way of that, delay us, distract us, completely block us, and it’s up to us to distinguish between those two voices.” [29:01] - It is important to cheer on the people you see who are clearly being themselves and following their hearts. [31:11] - Jill lists the ten most powerful questions she has asked herself starting with “What am I pretending not to know?” She first saw this question posed when she was 36 years old in her first personal development course. [32:34] - The second question is “Is this raising or lowering my vibration?” There are times that Jill asks herself this question with relationships. [33:41] - “How would the highest version of me show up right now?” Try doing this when you are in an argument. That is when it really counts. This is an important question to ask when you are not feeling confident in yourself as well. [34:47] - “How did I cause this and attract it to me?” So many times, the same things happen to a person or the same types of people are coming into your life. That doesn’t just happen. [36:18] - Similarly, “Is this getting me the life I desire?” is the next question. Is what you are doing right now consistently getting you where you want to be? And if not, are you doing what it takes to change direction? [37:11] - This is what you need to ask yourself and your creator: “What are you trying to teach me?” Remember, there’s a lesson to be learned in everything. [37:40] - “Is this really true or just true in my paradigm?” Jill explains what this means and how the answer to this question can be a real eye-opener. The way to figure this out is to slowly lower the water line and expose more of the iceberg. [38:40] - A question inspired by a friend of Jill’s to ask yourself is “Is this my business, their business, or God’s business?” Jill admits that she doesn’t always follow it but she has gotten better through awareness. [39:45] - “What is my body telling me?” Your body will be honest with you if you pause and listen. [40:30] - Lastly, “What would love do right now?” Jill gives examples of how love would forgive, apologize, and get you back on course. [41:38] - Jill explains how recently two podcast guests demonstrated and responded with love when something happened to their interview recording. [42:45] - Jill shares a story that she read online that compares elephants and dogs when they’re pregnant. Which elephant are you? Sometimes our intuition tells us something we don’t want to hear. Sometimes signs lead us to where we are meant to be and we don’t want to listen. I know, because I am there. In a previous episode, I explained how signs were leading me to something that I never considered for myself. Today I dive deeper into that topic because I decided to go for it and I was absolutely terrified.   In today’s episode, we get to talk about the reward of following your intuition. More specifically, we will talk about following your intuition when it leads you to doing something new and that completely tramples your ego. It’s scary. It’s uncomfortable. But when you follow your intuition down a specific path that you know nothing about, you will learn so much about yourself and grow into the goddess you are meant to be.    Today, I show you the good, the bad, and the ugly. I’m going through it right now and it is not easy. But I know that the end result and the reward waiting for me is all worth it.   Show Notes: [3:01] - Jill reminds us that she is on an Instagram hiatus and explains the gut feeling she had. [4:49] - The signs that Jill was getting were so clear that she needed to be a part of  [6:03] - Our intuition is never wrong. Sometimes signs will persist and sometimes they will move to someone else, but they are never wrong. Jill admits that she was resisting these signs. [8:01] - Jill explains that after leaving her previous career and the things happening in her personal life, she initially just didn’t want to do anything else. [9:30] - Even though it made no sense and she was afraid, she joined the Elementum program. [10:26] - Jill has followed her intuition down specific paths before - when she went to nursing school and then shifted to network marketing. [12:33] - Starting the behind-the-scenes description of her current endeavor, Jill shares that she applied to the Elementum coaching course and is proud to say that she was accepted. [13:46] - Jill has been coaching for a long time but is not an officially certified coach. When applying to this coaching course, she didn’t know that it is primarily composed of people who already have successful coaching practices. [15:00] - When beginning the course, Jill became extremely anxious and terrified. [16:05] - What was coming up for Jill? Yes, fear, but also her inner child. Jill explains how her inner child took over her feelings during the first Zoom meeting with Elementum. [17:37] - Jill was being triggered by seeing others who were more accomplished, confident, or better than her. She reminds us that triggers are gifts that are road signs to something that needs to be worked on. [19:01] - The people in the Zoom meeting with Jill never said anything to make her feel this way; it was all in her head. That is the inner child. [19:52] - Jill refers to a previous episode when she spoke about the inner child. What we should do when the inner child has taken over is to think about what the goddess version of ourselves would do. Jill shares that this is something she will have to do every week through this course. [20:12] - What makes Elementum different? Jill describes the course’s objectives and what it offers to the coaching world. [21:59] - Jill is very uncomfortable through this process and is sharing her journey as she coaches herself through it. [23:21] - Jill’s inner child gets in the “driver’s seat” when adult Jill is scared due to the chaotic life she knew growing up. [24:03] - For about three days, Jill’s inner child was in control and she describes what that looked like for her and what she did to make the change. [25:43] - Jill will be very transparent through her course to not only share what she is learning but also how she manages this discomfort as a beginner. [27:03] - “Every time we are willing to not only get uncomfortable but also to do something that causes your ego to get trampled - that grows you into a version of yourself you can’t even see yet.” - Jill Herman [28:06] - When the inner child comes up, acknowledge her and listen to her. Let her know she’s okay. [29:10] - There’s a time and a place to be harsh in coaching and motivation, but when talking to yourself, be kind. [29:56] - The goddess version of yourself knows what you need. Be willing to try something new that scares you. I know there was something in this episode that you were meant to hear. "You can't deny there's something bigger than us out there..." Jay Armstrong is the editor and creative director of Elementum, a beautiful biannual journal that draws upon the landscape and folklore of the British Isles to create a totally original sense of place. Filling her pages with stories about nature, identity and spirituality means she could easily cross over into politics and religion, but as she explains in this conversation, she actively avoids those subjects and instead prefers to plough her own furrow towards, "a crucible where academics, folklorists and artists can bring their own responses". She's also a mum, and she speaks about the challenge of fitting the magazine around the rest of her life, and the things she has learned along the way about the practicalities of publishing on a biannual schedule. I love it when a magazine finds an original way of viewing familiar material, and her "genre fluid" publishing does exactly that, crossing over conventional boundaries to bring a fresh and distinctive view of Britain's nature and history.
