Two very different directors talk about two very different films on this episode of the Movies In Focus podcast. First-up, Kevin Smith talks about his 1980s set comedy, The 4:30 Movie and then later in the episode Euros Lyn discusses his vampire-comedy, The Radleys. Kevin Smith was one of the leading figures in the 1990s independent film scene. His self-financed low-budget comedy Clerks was a massive success and he went on to make the likes of Mallrats, Chasing Amy, Dogma Jay And Silent Bob Strike Back, Jersey Girl and others. Working with rep company that includes the likes of Ben Affleck, Jason Lee, Jason Mewes and Matt Damon, Smith's films have also had a strong autobiographical bent, incorporating moments and characters from his own life and adding his own style of acerbic wit. His latest film, The 4:30 Movie is his most autobiographical yet- a 1980s set coming of age story that not only takes place within the confines of Smith's home state of New Jersey - but also his very own SmodCastle cinema. It's a witty and heartfelt film that delivers the goods for fans of his work and those looking for a well-honed comedy. Kevin Smith talks about digging into his past to make the film, shooting in your own cinema - as well as the possibility of a Mallrats sequel. To say that Welsh director Euros Lyn has had an illustrious career would be an understatement. His career as a director is littered with some of the television's top shows including - Casualty, Doctor Who, Torchwood, Sherlock, Broadchurch, Happy Valley, Daredevil, His Dark Materials and Heartstopper. Lyn's new film, The Radleys is based on Matt Haig's book of the same name - and it stars Damian Lewis and Kelly Macdonald as a married couple with a young family - and they all just happen to be vampires. Euros Lyn is a BAFTA and Hugo Award-winning director. Mainly known for his work in television, he has helmed episodes of Doctor Who, Torchwood, Sherlock, Heartstopper, Black Mirror, Last Tango in Halifax, Happy Valley, Gracepoint, and Daredevil. He has recently made the transition into film with his second feature - the horror comedy The Radleys. It will be released on October 4th. Kristianna Loken is a queen of the action world. She attended the Ty Newydd playwriting course in 2018 with Tim Price and Dirty Protest. She is keen to write alongside her acting. As an actress she has worked extensively in theatre and television. Her credits include Romeo and Juliet with Headlong directed by Robert Icke,  Cherry Orchard at The Young Vic with Katie Mitchell, The RSC, Theatre Clwyd and National Theatre of Wales and more recently Valued Friends at the Rose Theatre directed by Michael Fentiman . She played Ruth Jones’ daughter in Stella for Sky 1 for four series and the recurring character Jenny Flint in Dr Who. With John the Iron Fist and Irene the unbreakable Cage away defending, the remaining Defenders, Chris and Derek, take up the mic to chat all about the penultimate episode of Daredevil The Ones We Leave Behind. Reeling from recent events Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll rather than Wolf as we say in the episode sorry!) has difficulty sleeping and turns to the bottle leading to an encounter with Wilson Fisk (Vincent D'Onofrio). Meanwhile Vanessa (Ayelet Zurer) recovers in hospital from the attack at Fisk's benefit and Fisk commits to make those responsible pay. The masked vigilante begins his investigation into heroin distribution in Hell's Kitchen and destroys Madame Gao's (Wai Ching Ho) plot operation only to learn that she has abilities he wasn't expecting. Ben Urich (Vondie Curtis-Hall) begins his exposé of Wilson Fisk but gets fired from The Bulletin. Unfortunately for the reporter a former colleague turns on him revealing his intended story to the unnerved Fisk. With the furore and fascination of Eurovision now over with (oh, the excitement! The whimsy!), the Three Who Rule turn their gaze towards one of the most prolific directors in the new series, Euros Lyn, in this week's Miniscope. Lyn was credited with directing an astonishing eleven episodes across nine stories, including some stunning work on Tooth and Claw, and some questionable decisions on the David Tennant/RTD finale The End of Time. Also discussed in this week's podcast is Radio Free Skaro's upcoming appearance at Westercon 66 in July 2013, and some exciting news on the DVD front in the months to come. All in all, this week's episode is worth more Euros than money can buy!

That's right! More San Diego Comic-Con coverage. Jimmy sat on 2 round tables with the creative team behind Doctor Who and Torchwood. The 10th Doctor himself, David Tennant, was also in attendance to answer questions. There were about 7 other reporters asking questions, so there's some great stuff in there! Also, apologies for the sound troubles. Apparently, one or two of the reporters had their cell phones on that RANG during the interviews which caused interference. You will hear some buzzing on occasion. Couldn't be removed and no way to control. Sorry folks! But, hang in there for some good Doctor Who/Torchwood goodness!
