Wondering who you are in Christ? Today on 15 Minutes in the Word, Joyce shares how Paul's words in Ephesians reveal your true identity and God's incredible love for you.
How can someone be sure they will go to Heaven when they die? Pastor Greg Laurie reveals that the answers to some of our most pressing questions are found right in the book of Isaiah. Notes: ACTS 8 AND ISAIAH 53 PEOPLE WILL DO JUST ABOUT ANYTHING TO AVOID PAIN. WE WANT THE GAIN WITHOUT THE PAIN. WE WANT THE CROWN WITHOUT THE CROSS. THE TEXT BEFORE US REMINDS US THAT JESUS CHOSE THE WAY OF PAIN- ON PURPOSE. WHAT WE ARE ABOUT TO READ ANSWERS THE MOST IMPORTANT QUESTIONS OF LIFE-- HOW CAN A PERSON COME INTO A RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD?- HOW CAN ONE BE FREE FROM THE GUILT AND REMORSE OVER THEIR SINS?- HOW CAN ONE BE CERTAIN THAT THEIR SINS ARE INDEED FORGIVEN AND THEY WILL GO TO HEAVEN? ISAIAH 53 IS ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT CHAPTERS IN THE OLD TESTAMENT. THERE IS POWER IN THE MESSAGE OF THE DEATH AND RESURRECTION OF JESUS. WHY IS THE DEATH OF JESUS SO IMPORTANT?BECAUSE WE ALL HAVE SINNED AGAINST GOD AND A PRICE MUST BE PAID, A SUBUSTUTE MUST BE OFFERED. JESUS IS IN THE OLD TESTAMENT CONCEALED, BUT HE IS IN THE NEW TESTAMENT REVEALED. THE BOOK OF ISAIAH OFFERS THE CLEAREST ACCOUNT OF THE DEATH OF JESUS. ISAIAH WROTE HIS BOOK 700 YEARS BEFORE CHRIST DIED.HOWEVER, HE WROTE IT AS THOUGH HE WAS AN EYEWITNESS. IN OUR JESUS AND YOU 2 SERIES, WE HAVE SEEN JESUS IN THE FIRE WITH SHADRACH, IN A WRESTLING MATCH WITH JACOB, AND NOW ISAIAH SHOWS US JESUS AS THE SUFFERER. “THIS CHAPTER IS THE VERY HEART OF THE GOSPEL. IT IS THE BIBLE IN MINATURE.”—CHARLES SPURGEON LET’S START WITH THE TWO DOWNHEARTED DISCIPLES ON THE EMMAUS ROAD AFTER JESUS ROSE. LUKE 24:27 (ESV)BEGINNING AT MOSES AND THE PROPHETS, HE INTERPRETED TO THEM IN ALL THE SCRIPTURES THE THINGS CONCERNING HIMSELF. THE BIBLE TELLS THE STORY OF A MAN WHO WENT TO JERUSALEM, SEARCHING FOR GOD. BUT AS A DIGNITARY, HE RECEIVED SOMETHING VALUABLE, THE SCROLL OF ISAIAH! PHILIP HEARD THIS FOREIGN DIGNITARY READLING ALOUD FROM ISAIAH 53. READ ACTS 8:31 30-35 IN THE NEW TESTAMENT, ISAIAH IS THE MOST QUOTED OF THE OLD TESTAMENT PROPHETS. JESUS AND THE NEW TESTAMENT WRITERS QUOTE ISAIAH AT LEAST 65 TIMES AND HE IS MENTIONED BY NAME 22 TIMES. THE WHOLE GOSPEL IS IN THE BOOK OF ISAIAH:- THE BRUTALITY OF THE WOUNDS INFLICTED ON JESUS. (ISAIAH 52:14)- HIS ABSOLUTE SILENCE BEFORE HIS ACCUSERS (ISAIAH 53:7)- HIS DEATH (ISAIAH 53:8–9)- THE PLACE OF HIS BURIAL (ISAIAH 53:9)- HIS RESURRECTION (ISAIAH 53:10) READ ISAIAH 53:1-3 JESUS WAS ORDINARY IN APPEARANCE. IF JESUS HAD AN INSTAGRAM, HE MIGHT NOT HAVE GONE VIRAL,BUT HE STILL WOULD HAVE GONE TO THE CROSS. IF JESUS WERE HERE TODAY, HE WOULDN’T BE TRENDING, HE’S BE TRANSFORMING. JESUS DID NOT COME FROM THE MARBLE PALACES OF ROME OR THE HALLS OF HEROD. WE OVERLOOK THE ORDINARY PEOPLE IN OUR CULTURE TODAY. WE LIVE IN A CULTURE THAT WORSHIPS THE OUTWARD. PEOPLE SCROLL PAST THE ORDINARY.MOST LIKELY, YOU COULD NOT PICK JESUS OUT OF A CROWD. AT HIS BIRTH, ONLY A HANDFUL OF PEOPLE RECOGNIZED WHO HE WAS,HUMBLE SHEPHERDS, WHO WERE THE LOWEST OF THE LOW AT THAT TIME. JESUS RETURNED TO HIS HOMETOWN OF NAZARETH WHERE HE HAD BEEN RAISED. THEY DECIDED TO KILL HIM AND TOOK HIM TO THE EDGE OF A CLIFF TO THROW HIM OFF.YET JESUS SHOWED HE WAS IN COMPLETE CONTROL. LUKE 4:29 30 (ESV) BUT PASSING THROUGH THEIR MIDST, HE WENT AWAY. PEOPLE WANTED A MILITANT MESSIAH AND THEY GOT A SUFFERING SAVIOR. JESUS WAS EXTRODINARY IN WHAT HE CAME TO DO.ISAIAH 53:3 WHAT DOES IT MEAN THAT “JESUS WAS A MAN OF SORROWS?” DOES IT MEAN JESUS NEVER SMILED, NEVER LAUGHED? JESUS SAID, “I TOLD YOU THIS TO MAKE YOU COMPLETELY HAPPY AS I AM.” JESUS WAS HAPPY, APPROACHABLE, AND EXUDED LOVE! 1 TIMOTHY 1:11( NLT)THE GLORIOUS GOOD NEWS ENTRUSTED TO ME BY OUR BLESSED GOD. THAT IS NOT THE VIEW MANY PEOPLE HAVE OF THE ALMIGHTY.THEY SEE HIM MORE AS THE ANGRY GOD OR THE DISINTERESTED GOD. WHEN GOD SEES YOU, HE SMILES. NUMBERS 6:24–26 (NLT)MAY THE LORD BLESS YOU AND PROTECT YOU.MAY THE LORD SMILE ON YOU AND BE GRACIOUS TO YOU.MAY THE LORD SHOW YOU HIS FAVOR AND GIVE YOU HIS PEACE. WE FOLLOW THE LOVING GOD, THE HAPPY GOD, THE SMILING GOD. WHEN JESUS WAS IN GETHSHEMENE HE WAS IN THE DEEPEST SORROW AND PAIN. JESUS KNOWS WHAT IT IS LIKE TO SUFFER. JESUS WAS “A MAN OF SORROWS AND AQUAINTED WITH GRIEF.”ISAIAH 53:3 JESUS DIDN’T JUST SEND US A SYMPATHY CARD FROM HEAVEN, HE SHOWED UP IN PERSON. JESUS UNDERSTANDS PAIN, NOT JUST IN THEORY, BUT PERSONALLY. WHEN YOU GRIEVE, YOU ARE WALKING A ROAD JESUS HAS WALKED. I HAVE LIVED WITH GRIEF, AND IT IS UNLIKE ANYTHING ELSE. SORROW PASSES THROUGH YOU, GRIEF MOVES IN AND TAKES RESIDENCE FOR A WHILE. GRIEF IS THE WAVE THAT THAT COMES OUT OF NOWHERE WHEN YOU HEAR A SONG OR SEE AN OLD PHOTO. GRIEF IS NOT NECESSARILY A BAD THING,THE DEPTH OF YOUR GRIEF INDICATES THE DEPTH OF YOUR LOVE. THE BIBLE SAYS, “THERE IS A TIME TO MOURN.” PAUL POINTS OUT, “WE DO NOT GRIEVE HOPELESSLY BUT HOPEFULLY.” GOD UNDERSTANDS THAT GRIEF YOU ARE FEELING. JESUS CAN SYMPATHIZE WITH YOUR SORROW. REMEMBER WHEN YOU ARE GOING THROUGH TIMES OF SUFFERING,JESUS HAS WALKED IN YOUR SHOES. HEBREWS 4:15 (NLT)THIS HIGH PRIEST OF OURS UNDERSTANDS OUR WEAKNESSES, FOR HE FACED ALL OF THE SAME TESTINGS WE DO, YET HE DID NOT SIN. ISAIAH 53 MATTERS TODAY BECAUSE THE ONE WHO CARRIED OUR GRIEFS AND BORE OUR SORROWSSTILL OFFERS HEALING — FOR HEARTS, FOR HOMES, AND FOR A GENERATION THAT’S LOST IT’S WAY. JESUS LOVED US AND DIED FOR US. ISAIAH 53:5 (NKJV)BUT HE [WAS] WOUNDED FOR OUR TRANSGRESSIONS, [HE WAS] BRUISED FOR OUR INIQUITIES; THE CHASTISEMENT FOR OUR PEACE [WAS] UPON HIM, AND BY HIS STRIPES WE ARE HEALED. ISAIAH 53:6 (NKJV)ALL WE LIKE SHEEP HAVE GONE ASTRAY; WE HAVE TURNED, EVERY ONE, TO HIS OWN WAY; AND THE LORD HAS LAID ON HIM THE INIQUITY OF US ALL. JESUS WAS NOT AN ACCIDENTAL VICTIM.HE WAS A CONQUERING VICTOR. HOW CAN A PERSON BE MADE RIGHT WITH GOD?HOW CAN THE STAIN OF OUR GUILT AND SHAME FROM OUR SIN BE REMOVED? ANSWER: BY THE BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST. WHY DID JESUS HAVE TO DIE? JESUS HAD TO DIE BECAUSE THERE WAS NO OTHER WAY TO SATISFY GOD’S RIGHTEOUS DEMANDS. GOD PLAYS BY HIS OWN RULES, AND HIS RULES STATE,“THE SOUL THAT SINS SHALL SURELY DIE.” THE DEATH OF JESUS WAS FORETOLD BY THE HEBREW PROPHETS. MESSIAH WOULD COME, BE BORN OF A VIRGIN IN BETHLEHEM, AND BE CRUCIFIED ON A CROSS. JESUS WOULD SOON SAY THE WORDS OF PSALM 22, “THEY PIERCED MY HANDS AND FEET.” PSALM 22 WAS WRITTEN 1,000 YEARS BEFORE THE FIRST CRUCIFIXION EVER TOOK PLACE. JESUS LIVED IN THE SHADOW OF THE CROSS FROM THE MOMENT HE ENTERED OUR WORLD. FOR SOME, THE CROSS SEEMED LIKE AN ABERRATION, A MISTAKE, A TRAGIC TURN OF EVENTS. IT MUST HAVE SEEMED LIKE THAT FOR THE DISCIPLES AS JESUS WAS ARRESTED AND MURDERED. GOD WAS THE ‘MASTER OF CEREMONIES’ AT THE CROSS. ROMANS 8:32GOD DID NOT SPARE HIS OWN SON BUT GAVE HIM UP FOR US ALL. ROMANS 3:25GOD PUT CHRIST FORWARD…BY HIS BLOOD, TO BE RECEIVED BY FAITH. (ISAIAH 53:10YET IT PLEASED THE FATHER TO BRUISE HIM; HE HAS PUT HIM TO DEATH. GOD WAS PLEASED BY THE REDEMPTION THAT WAS ACCOMPLISHED.HE WAS PLEASED BY THE ETERNAL PLAN OF SALVATION THAT WAS FULFILLED. IN FACT, THIS WAS THE MOST EVIL ACT EVER PERPETRATED BY SINFUL HEARTS:THE SINLESS SON OF GOD, TORTURED, SLAUGHTERED, HEARTLESSLY MURDERED IN COLD BLOOD. AND YET, FROM IT CAME THE GREATEST GOOD OF ALL TIME. CALVARY SHOWS HOW FAR MEN WILL GO IN SIN AND HOW FAR GOD WILL GO FOR SALVATION. AS CHRIST HUNG THERE, HE WAS BEARING THE SINS OF THE WORLD, DYING AS A SUBSTITUTE. TO HIM WAS IMPUTED THE GUILT OF THEIR SINS,AND HE WAS SUFFERING THE PUNISHMENT FOR THOSE SINS ON THEIR BEHALF. THE VERY ESSENCE OF THAT PUNISHMENT WAS THE OUTPOURING OF GOD’S WRATH AGAINST SINNERS. JESUS MADE THE ULTIMATE SACRIFICE.ISAIAH 53:7 JESUS WAS ARRESTED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT AS THOUGH HE WERE A CRIMINAL. WHEN PILATE QUESTIONED JESUS, HE SPOKE A FEW WORDS, BUT NONE IN HIS OWN DEFENSE. THIS WAS ALL DONE THAT WE MIGHT BE FORGIVEN AND COME INTO A RELATIONSHIP WITH HIM. READ ACTS 8:34–39 THAT IS HOW QUICKLY CONVERSION CAN HAPPEN.IT DOES NOT TAKE YEARS, OR MONTHS, OR WEEKS, OR DAYS, OR EVEN HOURS. JESUS CHRIST DID ALL OF THIS FOR YOU. Do your days ever feel like they’re blending together? In our daily prayer and devotional, we reflect on how we wake up, work, eat, repeat — the rhythm of routine can make life feel stagnant and dull. But while monotony can be wearying, it can also be sacred. In this thoughtful reflection, Sophia Bricker reminds us that even when life feels repetitive, God is still at work in the ordinary. Every moment we live — whether exciting or mundane — holds eternal value. Scripture calls us to “redeem the time” (Ephesians 5:16), to make the most of every opportunity because every second is a gift entrusted to us by God. The quiet consistency of our days is not meaningless; it’s often the very place where faithfulness is formed. When prayer feels routine or work feels endless, we can still glorify God through gratitude, diligence, and love for others. Just as the servants in Jesus’ parable of the talents were commended for wisely using what their Master entrusted to them, we too are called to steward our time well — not by seeking constant novelty, but by walking wisely, with hearts attuned to eternity. Each sunrise brings new mercy. Each task, conversation, and breath is another chance to honor the Lord. Even when every day feels the same, God is making all things new — and He invites us to join Him in that renewal. Today's Bible Reading:“Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.” – Ephesians 5:15–16, NIV

[21] Baptism, which corresponds to this, now saves you, not as a removal of dirt from the body but as an appeal to God for a good conscience, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, [22] who has gone into heaven and is at the right hand of God, with angels, authorities, and powers having been subjected to him. ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖ FINANCIALLY SUPPORT THE MORNING MINDSET: (not tax-deductible) -- Become a monthly partner: https://mm-gfk-partners.supercast.com/ -- Support a daily episode: https://MorningMindsetMedia.com/daily-sponsor/ -- Give one-time: https://give.cornerstone.cc/careygreen -- Venmo: @CareyNGreen ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖ FOREIGN LANGUAGE VERSIONS OF THIS PODCAST: SPANISH version: https://MorningMindsetMedia.com/Spanish HINDI version: https://MorningMindsetMedia.com/Hindi CHINESE version: https://MorningMindsetMedia.com/Chinese ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖ CONTACT: Carey@careygreen.com ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖ THEME MUSIC: “King’s Trailer” – Creative Commons 0 | Provided by https://freepd.com/ ***All NON-ENGLISH versions of the Morning Mindset are translated using A.I. "You can't allow dissatisfied people to come and rain on your satisfaction. And you can't allow these obstacles that were meant to make you a better human, make you a bitter human being." —Daniel Gomez Some people can't stand our success because it reminds them of their own excuses. Dissatisfied people often project their unhappiness the moment they see someone thriving in business, faith, or life. Hence, the higher we rise, the more resistance we'll face. But that pressure is not punishment; it's proof that we are being shaped for strength, purpose, and elevation. In this episode, Daniel shares raw truths about the cost of growth, the power of mental fortitude, and how faith can be an anchor when others try to shake our confidence. He breaks down what it means to face betrayal, pass the rite of passage, and keep our joy as we climb. Diognetus, a second-century pagan, noticed that followers of Christ “day by day increase more and more.” This was despite regular persecution they endured under the hand of the Romans. He asked a believer in Jesus why this was true. In a document we know as the “letter to Diognetus,” that early church father replied to him, “Do you not see that the more of them are punished, the greater becomes the number of the rest? This does not seem to be the work of man: this is the power of God.” As Jesus gave His final words to His disciples before ascending into heaven, they could little imagine the growth the church would experience in the coming centuries. He told them, “Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit” (Matthew 28:19). This has become known as the Great Commission, but using this phrase to describe Jesus’ final words to His disciples can make it feel burdensome. In reality, this is what Jesus calls all those who follow Him to do: as we go about our day, make disciples. We don’t have to go to the ends of the earth; the message will travel wherever we carry it with us. Don’t be discouraged by the difficulties of the moment. Jesus also said, “I am with you always, to the very end of the age” (v. 20). We take Him with us everywhere we go.

7. The Iconic Earthrise Photo and the Genesis Reading Broadcast. Bob Zimmerman discusses how while orbiting the moon, the crew captured the now-iconic "Earthrise" photographs. A dispute over who took the famous color picture was resolved by transcript analysis: Frank Borman quickly took a black-and-white image, and Bill Anders subsequently captured the celebrated color image after scrambling to change the film. For their Christmas Eve television broadcast, Frank Borman sought guidance for a message that would match the "majesty and the significance" of the moment, as NASA's public relations chief refused to dictate the content. Borman's friend, Joe Leighton, struggled to find suitable, non-sectarian text. Leighton's wife suggested starting at the beginning of the Old Testament. Leighton realized the opening verses of Genesis were perfect, as they were fundamental to the world's major religions and fit the theme of beginning a new era of exploration. Anders, Lovell, and Borman read the verses, surprising the world, concluding with Borman wishing "God bless all of you, all of you on the good Earth." 1790 GREEENWICH
3. From Newtonian Physics to Canals: Projecting Life onto Mars. Matthew Shindell discusses how the shift from ancient cosmology to modern science was a slow process, with figures like Galileo and Newton developing new observations and physics. Enlightenment thinkers, including Buffon and Laplace, began searching for a natural (rather than divine) origin for the solar system, establishing that the planets are related and obey universal laws. This led to speculation about life elsewhere. Astronomer William Herschel believed that all planets, especially the Earth-like Mars, were likely inhabited, as it was common Enlightenment belief that God would not create empty space. By the late 19th century, Richard Proctor and Giovanni Schiaparelli intensified focus on Mars. American astronomer Percival Lowell popularized the idea of Martian "canals" and interpreted Mars as a glimpse into Earth's eventual desert-like future. This vision influenced authors like H.G. Wells, who used the idea of alien Martian invaders in War of the Worlds as a satire of the British Empire's destructive colonial actions. 1960
SHOW 11-7-25 CBS EYE ON THE WORLD WITH JOHN BATCHELOR THE SHOW BEGINS IN THE DOUBTS ABOUT THE MUCH DEBATED AI VALUATIONS. FIRST HOUR 9-915 California Politics and West Coast Issues. Jeff Bliss reports on California Governor Gavin Newsom's successful Proposition 50 to reshape congressional districts, a move linked to increasing Newsom's presidential visibility. Newsom's public persona is increasingly marked by anger and profanity aimed at political opponents. Other issues include Las Vegas resorts reconsidering "nickel-and-diming" practices, ongoing regulatory hurdles delaying rebuilding in Maui, and routine fires in LA's growing homeless encampments. 915-930 Canadian Politics, US Trade Relations, and Energy Pipeline Development. Conrad Black discusses a domestic Canadian political misunderstanding involving Prime Minister Mark Carney and Premier Doug Ford over an anti-tariff ad that annoyed President Trump. The focus shifts to Canadian energy policy, noting the need for new pipelines to move oil from Alberta east, west, and south. Carney's government has tentatively agreed to approve a second pipeline to northern British Columbia, which would more than double the daily oil shipment capacity to the west. 930-945 Supreme Court Arguments on Presidential Tariff Authority and NYC Mayor-Elect. Professor Richard Epstein analyzes Supreme Court arguments regarding the President's expansive use of a 1977 law to impose tariffs, predicting a likely 7-2 ruling against the administration. Epstein argues that viewing successful worldwide trade as an "emergency" is intellectually flawed and an abuse of executive discretion. Separately, he expresses concern that New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani, a self-proclaimed socialist lacking administrative experience, risks impoverishing the city by ignoring competitive federalism. 945-1000 Supreme Court Arguments on Presidential Tariff Authority and NYC Mayor-Elect. SECOND HOUR 10-1015 Economic Slowdown and Election Observations in Indiana and Pennsylvania. Jim McTague identifies signs of an economic slowdown affecting people beyond the lowest economic rung. Restaurant business in Indiana is down 3 to 5%, and expensive home renovations have "dried up." Costco shoppers are exhibiting extreme caution, buying essentials with little impulse spending. In Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, a large turnout resulted in Democratic victories, suggesting voter reaction against local Republicans perceived as "Trumpists." Anticipated layoffs at Amazon and Walmart are expected to impact local employment. 1015-1030 Italian Defense Strategy and the Geopolitical Situation. Lorenzo Fiori discusses Italy's defense buildup using EU loan deals to acquire new armored vehicles from Germany's Rheinmetall through a joint venture with Leonardo. This modernization is crucial as Italy is strategically situated near the Ukrainian conflict and faces risks from troubled North African countries, particularly potential Russian influence in Libya. Although the military is needed for disaster relief, public opinion often remains against increasing defense expenditures. 1030-1045 Spacefaring News: NASA, SpaceX Records, and Global Space Issues. Bob Zimmerman reports on the renomination of Jared Isaacman as NASA administrator following a previous withdrawal. SpaceX is setting new launch records, aiming for close to 180 launches this year, though an FAA launch curfew might jeopardize this prediction. Other topics include Boeing avoiding criminal charges regarding the 737 Max crashes, opposition to the EU Space Act, Starlab's commercial space station development, and China's stranded crew due to space debris damage to their Shenzhou capsule. 1045-1100 Spacefaring News: NASA, SpaceX Records, and Global Space Issues. Henry Sokolski raises proliferation concerns about Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) using High-Assay Low-Enriched Uranium (HALEU) fuel (20% enriched). Declassified cables from 1954 and 1977 suggested that uranium above 10% requires special concern, demanding a review before SMRs are exported. Sokolski also clarifies that US maintenance of its nuclear arsenal relies on non-critical tests and simulations, not full-yield explosions, though adversaries may be conducting critical tests. 1215-1230 Nuclear Proliferation Concerns Regarding Small Modular Reactors and Weapons Testing. Richard Smith compares the space race between Elon Musk's SpaceX ("the hare") and Jeff Bezos's Blue Origin ("the tortoise"). Augustine's Response to the Sack of Rome and Theological Battles. Professor Katherine Conybeare discusses Augustine, the African, and his response to the 410 AD sacking of Rome, which motivated him to write The City of God. The work defends Christianity by arguing Rome was always vulnerable. The source also covers the "rigged" Council of Carthage against the Donatists, Augustine's role in developing the just war theory, and his debate against Pelagianism, which led to the formulation of original sin, transmitted through sexual intercourse.
It is possible to pursue God without glorifying God. If we want our quest to honor God, we must pursue him for the joy of fellowship with him.
Love is the defining mark of a true follower of Christ — not just spoken love, but love that shows up in compassion, sacrifice, and everyday acts of care. In this touching daily prayer and devotional, Rachael Adams, host of The Love Offering, recalls the powerful example of love she witnessed while caring for her mother during a difficult hospital stay. Amid pain and uncertainty, she found beauty in the kindness exchanged between patients, families, and caregivers — living proof that love can flourish even in hardship. Jesus knew we would need each other. That’s why He gave His disciples this new command: to love one another as He has loved us. The early church lived this out so faithfully that they were recognized by outsiders for their radical generosity and unity (Acts 4:32–34). Their love wasn’t theoretical — it was tangible, visible, and transformative. When we choose to love others with that same self-giving, Christlike love, the world takes notice. Love is what sets us apart and points others to Jesus. Whether it’s a word of encouragement, an act of service, or simply showing up for someone in pain, every gesture of love testifies to the Gospel. The world is full of hurting hearts — people longing to know that someone cares. As followers of Christ, we have the privilege and calling to meet them with compassion, grace, and generosity. Love isn’t always easy, but it’s always worth it — because through love, others see Him. Today's Bible Reading:“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” – John 13:34–35
Central to our understanding the teachings of Christ is building a relationship with Him. Our armor is a process of shedding the stigmas of this world and anchoring more deeply in Him. It is a conversation, a walk we share and the embracing of the Holy Spirit to indwell within us. We have to have trust, we have to spend time listening, and we have to break from the many frameworks of old covenant that limit God's promise. In India, carrying a Bible to a meeting—or even offering a Hindu tea and cookies—could be construed as illegally "enticing" that Hindu to change his or her religion. Under anti-conversion laws currently enacted by 12 of India's states, such "enticement" can result in a long prison sentence. And once charges are filed against a pastor or other Christian, there is no presumption of innocence; it is up to the accused to prove their innocence. Sister "Joti," a human rights lawyer in India, has worked on numerous religious freedom cases. She will tell listeners about 80 pastors currently in prison, accused of "forcible conversion." Listen as Joti shares how the courts have tried to navigate the seeming opposites of a constitutional promise of the freedom to practice and propagate one's religion and state laws that require a person to notify the government, in advance, of their conversion. She'll also tell how she and her coworkers are advising pastors and churches to document interactions with Hindus and even record their sermons in order to create an evidence trail against possible future legal challenges. Joti knows her work could put her in danger, yet boldly continues in what God has called her to do. "The work impacts real lives and real people," she says. "I am here to serve, for as long as I can." Pray for Christians in India to be bold in showing love to their neighbors, and for lawyers like Joti on the frontlines serving persecuted Christians in the court. Today we're wrapping up our week of Unpacking Polygamy with a very honest, illuminating and challenging conversation among three faithful friends: Bethany Brady Spaulding, Patrick Mason and Bill Turnbull. Together, they tackle the profound theological problems that polygamy presents, particularly as it is laid out in what is perhaps the most challenging scripture in our canon—Section 132 of the Doctrine and Covenants. They compare and contrast Section 132 with what God has revealed elsewhere in scripture and with what the church actually teaches today. And they consider the question of whether it is possible for the church to actually move on from polygamy if section 132 continues to be taught as inspired scripture. Along the way, they celebrate the restored gospel's teaching of a higher and holier order of celestial union—couples sealed together for eternity as intimate, equal partners. This conversation was originally inspired by an essay written by Bill and Susan Turnbull, two of Faith Matters founders, titled “One Couple's Wrestle with Polygamy.” It's a fascinating and compelling piece and we encourage you to check it out. You can also find Bill's essay on the Abrahamic Test on our website, faithmatters.org.Faithfulness in any relationship, including our relationship with God and with the Church, requires not just generosity but also a willingness to acknowledge and honestly address problems. This is a conversation full of both generosity and honesty. We hope you are challenged and inspired by it.This episode is part of a five-part series on polygamy. We invite you to listen to all five episodes for a range of perspectives and voices on this important topic. You can find even more resources on our website, faithmatters.org. On In The Market with Janet Parshall this week we took a look at what experts are describing as a rapid cultural shift in America’s thinking about sin. Our guest shared the results of a comprehensive study that shows people today have grown lax on what is and is not considered sinful in today’s world, Our guest took us back to scripture to remind us that the only way to combat this modern thinking is by staying grounded in God’s unchanging truth. Then we turned our eyes to the life and death situations facing believers in places like Nigeria, Malaysia, China and India as the persecuted church around the globe continues to boldly proclaim God’s truth despite the dangers they are facing. Israel continues to be a topic of conversation, controversy and scrutiny today. We turned to our highly respected expert on the nation, its history and its prophetic future to discuss the latest controversy surrounding how the Jewish people are being viewed through the media, what is behind the increase of antisemitism in America and around the world and what believers can do to stand up and with God’s chosen people. Can we really trust what the bible says about the resurrection of Jesus Christ? For believers the answer is a foregone conclusion but for skeptics that may be a much harder pill to swallow. That’s why we spent time with an accomplished attorney who turned his truth-finding training toward the examination of the lives of the men who knew Jesus and how their testimony and lives provide clear, undeniable proof of his resurrection and divinity. How do you lovingly engage people who angrily claim that abortion is just a medical procedure, without consequence and that it is the mother’s choice because it is her body? Our guest gave us practical insight and guidance on the complex issues surrounding abortion and how to address with truth and love to the hearts and minds of those who have been deceived by these prevalent lies. Our need to observe and understand the times we are living in through the clear and focused lens of scripture continues to grow. That is why Janet and Craig continue to extend their open invitation to join them for a practical, biblical and enlightening discussion of some of the biggest headlines of the week as measured against God’s straight stick of truth.Become a Parshall Partner: http://moodyradio.org/donateto/inthemarket/partnersSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Today’s church is dealing with challenges that prior generations could never dream of. One of the biggest is the area of gender confusion. On In The Market with Janet Parshall this week we spoke to a woman who shared her own journey with someone who struggled with gender issues in her family. She explained the important issues related this this topic that believers need to be aware of and the heartbreaking stories of people who now live with the consequences and regret of having surgery to alter their bodies from the appearance of their God-given sex at birth. We also know that the Bible is the inspired word of God but how many of us have ever thought of the amazing journey from the days of the testaments to the book you can buy in almost any bookstore in the nation. Our guest took us on a journey in our radio time machine to share the amazing story of the best-selling book in human history. Along the way he told us how the New Testament writings were collected and copied, the differences and similarities between the Christian bible and the Jewish holy books and differences between the bible translations. They are not cute little cherubs with wings but powerful being who serve an infinitely more powerful God. Our guest took us behind the supernatural veil that separates this world from the next to give us a better understanding of God’s holy messengers, the angels. She explained the different types of angels that we see in scripture, their many appearances throughout the bible and she gave us a unique acronym to remember the many roles that these heralds of God perform. Roe V. Wade may be a thing of the past, but abortion and all of its tendril complications are far from over. Our guest addressed the FDA’s recent approval of a generic abortion drug and the implications of that decision in the fight to save the pre-born. We also gave you the opportunity to hear some amazing stories of God at work through the life, talent and service of the man who leads worship in Washington D.C. As we close out another week our favorite husband and wife duo continue to teach us how to be watchers on the wall for our families, our churches and our communities through the active implementation of God’s truth against the confusing and misleading ideas that populate the news each week.Become a Parshall Partner: http://moodyradio.org/donateto/inthemarket/partnersSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Then he'd go. And he'd come back with dinner." - Marlon WayansMarlon Wayans grew up watching his father combine faith with relentless action. Every single morning started the same way: Bible study, prayer, then that moment of looking up at God before figuring out how to feed 10 kids that day. His mother taught him something equally powerful but different: how to find joy in poverty, how to stay vulnerable when disappointments could easily make you bitter, how to love hard even when life is brutal. These weren't abstract lessons. They were daily survival skills that shaped everything about how Marlon approaches his work now. When Hollywood tells him to wait, when networks say they're booked until 2026, he hears his father's voice: don't wait for anyone to tell you you're ready. That mindset led him to self-fund his own comedy specials, film them on his terms, then license them to HBO and Amazon while keeping ownership. He's the guy who works three extra hours with his acting coach after a 14-hour shooting day because he refuses to show up unprepared. He drops a new hour of standup material every year, writing it live on stage while audiences think they're just watching a show. Most people fixate on what their parents did wrong. Marlon studied what they did right. That shift, that choice to extract wisdom instead of resentment from his upbringing, unlocked something fierce in him. His father taught him God and grit belong together. His mother taught him that joy is a choice you make, not a circumstance you wait for. Now he lives by a simple truth: everything is God, every closed door is redirection, and a thousand new doors are already open if you stop staring at the one that shut.Sign up for the Greatness newsletter: http://www.greatness.com/newsletter Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. On a road trip to Montana one summer, we stopped at a rest area to stretch our legs. Inside one of the buildings was a young man who was singing a familiar praise song as he mopped the floor. Then he started singing the hymn, “It Is Well with My Soul.” I couldn’t resist. When he called out the phrase, “It is well,” I repeated it. When he sang, “with my soul,” I echoed the words. Together, we sang the last line: “It is well, it is well . . . with my soul!” He grinned, gave me a fist bump, and said, “Praise God.” When I got back to the car where my husband was waiting, he asked, “What’s with the big smile?” Think of the things for which we can praise God, such as His goodness, righteousness, compassion, promises, provision, and protection. And Psalm 145 is one of many psalms that urges us to continually praise Him. David wrote, “Every day I will praise you” (v. 2). Many people praise God by playing an instrument; others by reading or reciting Scripture; or by singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs (Colossians 3:16). Some express their praise through liturgical dance. But all genuine praise springs from hearts that are full of gratitude. Our spirits were designed to praise God. It’s because of His sacrificial love for us that we can say with confidence, “It is well with my soul!”

New York City is giving socialism a try, and Zohran Mamdani has young women to thank. If you found yourself in the Big Apple on Tuesday night, you might have witnessed groups of young women sporting “Hot Girls for Mamdani” T-shirts. In one viral video shared on social media following Mamdani's election night victory to become the next mayor of the city, a young woman wearing the blue shirt joked, “Sharia Law starts now,” seemingly poking fun at critics of Mamdani, who is a Muslim. The self described “democratic socialist” earned 50.4% of the vote, according to NBC News, beating independent Andrew Cuomo and Republican Curtis Sliwa in a landslide victory. Young people overwhelmingly backed the charismatic Mamdani, but young women in particular ensured his victory. According to Tufts Jonathan M. Tisch College of Civic Life, 84% of female voters between the ages of 18—29 backed Mamdani in the mayoral race. But why? How did Mamdani mobilize the “hot girls” of the Big Apple to vote for policies that have been tested, tried, and show to fail every time, harming the very working people they promised to help? The answer, though not exhaustive, can likely be found within two explanations. First, young people are especially susceptible to ideas that are viewed in the public as “new” or trendy. New York City has never had an openly socialist mayor. Furthermore, socialism is marketable on paper—reeking of empathy and the illusion of serving the poor, which taps on the God given female emotion of compassion. Of course men have this emotion too, but speaking in broad generalities, women naturally have an inclination toward maternal care. The second reason Mamdani likely captured New York City's young female vote was recently pointed out by social media influencer Ashton Cohen. The feminist movement, as Cohen explains in a video on Instagram, promised women happiness and fulfillment if they went to an impressive college, built a powerful career, and rejected marriage and motherhood, instead using sex for pleasure. Many millennials and Gen-Z women were raised on the feminist message, and now they find themselves buried under student loan debt, unable to buy a home because of the sky high cost of living, working a job that is not as fun or fulfilling as they thought, and alone because they rejected marriage. Talk about an audience primed for an attractive young politician to come along and promise rent freezes and free buses. On this week's edition of “Problematic Women,” we unpack why Mamdani's socialist message resonated so deeply with young women, and discuss what this says about the feminist movement as a whole. Also on today's show, President Donald Trump has designated Nigeria a “Country of Particular Concern” over the persecution of Christians. We explain why this is a significant step to bringing real hope to a devastated nation. Plus, the British Royal Family is back in the news, though this time the ex-royals have the headlines. Meghan Markle is returning to acting 8 years ago after she announced her retirement from the business. And King Charles III has stripped the title of “Prince” from his brother Andrew over the Jeffrey Epstein scandal.
