Stitched Up Heart Release New Single "MEDUSA" featuring Lyric NoelNew Album Medusa Out Now via Judge & Jury Records A Fierce Anthem of Empowerment and Transformation, "Medusa" Finds Frontwoman Mixi Confronting Betrayal Head-On and Emerging Stronger Than Ever! In 2026, Stitched Up Heart began a bold, defining new chapter with their fourth album, MEDUSA, released on Judge & Jury Records. The album is spearheaded by the fierce, internet-culture rock anthem "GLITCH BITCH" featuring Conquer Divide, & the bloodthirsty women-empowering heater "CANNIBAL" featuring Heidi of Butcher Babies. "'Medusa' is about finally flipping the script on something that has tried to curse you. A battle cry for the women who were betrayed and serving justice by venom with a smile," explains Mixi. "Writing this song felt like clearly recognizing a betrayal, shedding your own skin, and spitting out the venom that was meant to poison you by claiming your power back. It's the perfect mirror — I'm not the girl getting gaslit and nauseous anymore. I'm the one with the Medusa stare turning problems to stone unapologetically. I'm not asking for permission anymore. I am here — I'm reborn, venomous, and ready." The song's message of rebirth extends throughout the accompanying music video, which was filmed in Dallas, Texas and draws heavily from ancient Greek mythology and imagery. Inspired by the legend of Perseus and Medusa, Stitched Up Heart flips the traditional narrative on its head. Rather than being slain by the Greek hero, the video's twin Medusas rise up and take control of their fate, ultimately defeating Perseus themselves. The concept originated with Mixi, who envisioned the striking visual of twin Medusas sharing a bathtub as a central image within the video's dreamlike and mythological world. The video's themes mirror the song's message of shedding old skin, embracing transformation, and emerging stronger from betrayal and adversity. Adding to the experience was a live snake featured in the production. Mixi shared that despite snakes often being portrayed as dangerous or sinister, the animal used on set couldn't have been more different. "The snake was actually scared of me," she recalled. "It had the sweetest soul and wasn't evil at all like people often portray snakes to be." "The songs were written with the live show in mind," says Mixi. "We wanted the energy to translate directly to the stage and create moments where people could let loose and embrace their inner crazy." While the title track and lead single "Medusa" features a standout guest appearance from Lyric Noel, the album also includes collaborations with an impressive roster of artists, including Lauren Babic, Eyes Set to Kill, Conquer Divide, Butcher Babies, Nonpoint, NOAPOLOGY, Austin John Winkler (The Founder), and Geena Fontanella. Beyond the stage, Mixi continues to use her platform to advocate for more women in rock and metal while actively volunteering with multiple animal rescue organizations throughout Southern California. Tracklisting:1) LOVE AND DEATH (feat. Austin John Winkler)2) SICK SICK SICK (feat. Lauren Babic & Eyes Set To Kill)3) GLITCH BITCH (feat. Conquer Divide)4) CANNIBAL (feat. Butcher Babies)5) MEET ME AFTER LIFE (feat. SYMETRIA Release New Single + Lyric Video "The Game" via Curtain Call RecordsCelebrates 10 Years with New EP and Expanding Tour ScheduleHard rock/metal band SYMETRIA have unveiled their powerful new single, "The Game," available now through Curtain Call Records, alongside an official lyric video. Recorded at SoundMine Studio in East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania,"The Game" was produced and mixed by acclaimed producer Dan Malsch. "The Game is really about the two games of life," explains the band. "The finite game is one you can play to win, and then it's over. The infinite game is different. It's played so that existence can continue and future generations have a game left to play. If not enough people are participating in that infinite game, everything eventually falls apart, and there are no games left to play at all."The accompanying lyric video brings the song's themes to life, highlighting the tension between competition, purpose, and the enduring struggle to preserve what matters beyond ourselves.Symetria has hit their 10 year mark running full steam ahead with a new EP All or Nothing releasing summer of 2026 on Curtain Call Records. This marks Symetria's 3rd release, and their second with Curtain Call. Behind that comes a support lineup that makes it hard to deny the bands presence is growing both locally and on a national scene. The band was in New Jersey on Saturday, June 27th with an appearance at The NJ Metalfest XI. They make their triumphant return to Reverb in Reading PA on Saturday, July 25th as the sole local opener for this summers first leg of the Metal Church tour.A few short weeks later on Friday August 14th at the Schuylkill County Fairgrounds, Symetria is in the company of an impressive list of local and national talent selected to support the Coal Region Music Fest. This is an event put on annually to raise funds and awareness to the local veterans support agencies in the region. Then comes a huge road trip out to Bloomville, Ohio, where Symetria gets to stretch their legs for the Smoking Cole's Bike Rally an 8 Day event where the band lands themselves a Saturday night slot opening for the legendary Lita Ford. After that run of 4 shows Symetria makes their first appearance in Allentown PA in 8 years at the Allentown Arts Gallery. The band then wraps up it's current schedule with their 2nd straight appearance on B'N'R fest Saturday November 7th in Birdsboro PA a local Reading area music festival that brings together some of the longest running local and regional acts in the eastern PA music scene. The band has plans in the works to tour for the first time with intentions of late summer or fall of 2027.Click Here to Subscribe to Pipeman in the Pit for PERKS, BONUS Content & FREE GIVEWAYS!  Pipeman in the Pit is a music, festival, and interview segment of The Adventures of Pipeman Radio Show (#pipemanradio) and from The King of All Festivals while on The Pipeman Radio Tour. Pipeman in the Pit features all kinds of music and interviews with bands & music artists especially in the genres of Heavy Metal, Rock, Hard Rock, Classic Rock, Punk Rock, Goth, Industrial, Alternative, Thrash Metal & Indie Music. Vinny from Belushi  Speed Ball talks with Pipeman Radio about Milwaukee Metal Fest and their new album  Toxic Waste Was Everywhere In The '80s"  and the song All Pete's Exes" (Featuring Pete Lee) from their album. We also talked about how they make live shows really fun.Founded in 2013 in Kentucky, BELUSHI SPEED BALL began as a studio project between friends with a love for crossover thrash, satire, and complete nonsense. The band quickly built a reputation for interactive live performances, absurd merchandising ideas, and relentless DIY creativity.Dubbed “a freakshow of blistering thrash dedicated to laughing its ass off at blistering thrash” by MetalSucks and praised by Anthony Fantano as “one of the funniest fucking things I have heard this year,” BELUSHI SPEED BALL blend the energy of Municipal Waste, Anthrax, GWAR, and Toxic Holocaust into a uniquely chaotic spectacle that continues pushing the boundaries of what a thrash band can get away with. The band's latest collection of crossover thrash nonsense features artwork by Andrei Bouzikov and continues BELUSHI SPEED BALL's long-running tradition of turning nostalgia, chaos, and pit-starting riffs into a full-contact theatrical experience. From N64 album releases and Furby formats to Mad Max-style mobile performances and Nerf gun warfare, BELUSHI SPEED BALL remain one of underground metal's most unpredictable acts.“We are so excited to drop our strongest album to date! Progressive Metal Band Entropist New Single “Intense Warmth,” & New Album, The Vision, drops June 26

Denver, CO progressive metal band Entropist share their new single “Intense Warmth,” as the follow‑up to their debut single “Creation.” Both tracks appear on the band's upcoming debut full‑length album, The Vision, arriving June 26. The album's artwork comes from a hand‑painted canvas by guitarist Solomon's wife, Shannon Bortfeldt, an impressionist depiction of the story's opening moments and the emotional weight of its darker themes.Formed through a decade-long bond, Entropist began in 2013 when guitarist/vocalist Solomon Smith, vocalist Parker Kitching, bassist Jeremy Smith, and drummer Matt Gleason met as college roommates and neighbors in Greeley, Colorado. After years of jamming, drifting apart, and reconnecting during the COVID era, the band solidified its lineup with the addition of guitarist Will Vinson, whose creativity helped elevate the project into its fully realized form.“The Vision” is a bold, cinematic progressive metal odyssey built on a dual-concept narrative: one story set in a fantastical world of demons, celestial beings, and the void, and another grounded in real-life themes of mental struggle, nihilism, and the search for meaning. Written largely from the perspectives of characters within the story, the album is designed to be experienced from start to finish — with recurring motifs, callbacks, and evolving themes woven throughout.Musically, the record spans progressive metal, djent, deathcore, metalcore, and post-hardcore influences, while maintaining a cohesive identity. Fans of Between the Buried and Me, Meshuggah, Opeth, and The Contortionist will find familiar touchpoints, yet Entropist's voice remains distinctly their own. To bring the album's massive sound to life, the band partnered with acclaimed producer Jamie King, whose work with BTBAM and The Contortionist helped define modern progressive metal. His mixing and mastering elevated the album's intricate compositions into a unified, powerful whole. The band's first single, “Creation,” introduces listeners to the album's final narrative arc. The track blends bright, triumphant chords, intricate rhythms, soaring vocals, and one of the heaviest breakdowns on the record. Lyrically, it explores themes of building something new, forging meaning, and shaping the world one wants to see. The lyric video showcases the song's emotional intensity and conceptual depth, offering fans their first immersive step into the universe of “The Vision.”Click Here to Subscribe to Pipeman in the Pit for PERKS, BONUS Content & FREE GIVEWAYS! Pipeman Radio chats with Melodic Death Metal Band Accursed, a 100% DIY outfit at the moment.Dave Lee started this 2017 shortly after moving back home to CT after 11 years in Arizona where he really cut his teeth playing in several metal bands over the years. Accursed is  a young band, honestly, not age wise generally speaking, Dave thinks he really skewed the average but they have a unique perspective you don't get a lot. They understand the struggles and they are  learning how to navigate a changing industry day by day like a lot of other musicians. An interesting thing to note might be the lyrical theme behind their most recent single. The song itself is based on Sky King, Richard "Bebo" Russell, and the Horizon Air incident of 2018. It's not so much a pastiche or allegory so much as an adaptation relayed through an artistic lens. We didn't want to glorify his actions but rather look at it from a wholly human perspective.Click Here to Subscribe to Pipeman in the Pit for PERKS, BONUS Content & FREE GIVEWAYS! What happens when conspiracy theories stop being fringe entertainment and start influencing the way people understand the world? In Episode 53 of B-Side Breakdown, Shayne Miel of Overton breaks down "High On Faith," a darkly humorous and surprisingly thoughtful song inspired by misinformation, conspiracy culture, and humanity's need to explain the unknown. What began with a single lyric evolved into a broader exploration of belief, uncertainty, and the stories people create to make sense of a complicated world.During our conversation, Shayne discusses the challenge of writing about conspiracy theories without turning the song into a lecture, the personal experiences that inspired the lyrics, and the strange moment we're living through where truth, opinion, and entertainment increasingly overlap. We talk about everything from ancient mythology to modern media, the role attention plays in shaping public discourse, and why people often gravitate toward simple explanations when reality is It's a conversation about a song, but it's also a conversation about belief itself—how we form it, why we cling to it, and what happens when the search for certainty becomes more powerful than the pursuit of truth.Follow Overton:https://overtonnc.bandcamp.comhttps://www.instagram.com/overton.ncThanks for supporting B-Side Breakdown — where the song is just the start of the story.Brett JohnsonHost, B-Side Breakdownhttps://www.bsidebreakdown.com#BSideBreakdown #Overton #HighOnFaith #ShayneMiel #IndependentMusic #MusicPodcast #Songwriting #PunkRock #AlternativeRock #IndieMusic

In this episode of Seeing Them Live, Charles sits down with Ben Daughtry and Jonathan Palmer of Love Jones — the Louisville-born, LA-based band that has been crafting their unique blend of lounge, soul, pop, and sharp-witted storytelling for over three decades. The conversation kicks off with a shared love of live music, as both Ben and Jonathan trace their concert-going roots back to the same unlikely starting point: Van Halen. Ben recalls sneaking into a show at 14, way too young to be there, watching a then-unknown Van Halen open for Black Sabbath and feeling like "a bomb going off." Jonathan recounts his own Van Halen baptism at Freedom Hall in Louisville on the Women and Children First Invasion Tour — complete with $7.50 festival seating and his mother taking notes in the stands. From there, the episode becomes a wide-ranging tour through decades of live music obsession. The guys swap stories about Ted Nugent crowd surges, jumping on stage with GWAR in New Orleans, playing congas with Tool at an early Lollapalooza, and watching Rage Against the Machine move 60,000 people. Jonathan shares privileged industry moments — seeing The Rolling Stones at a 600-capacity room in New York alongside Daniel Craig, Rachel Weisz, and Questlove, and catching Nine-Inch Nails at The Troubadour when they felt "too big for the building." The conversation is fueled by genuine enthusiasm, with each story triggering another in a kind of joyful avalanche of rock and roll memory. The second half of the episode turns to the band's own story — from their residency at Largo on Fairfax, where David Bowie once sat quietly in a booth and Tool's crew became regulars, to their unexpected appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon celebrating the 25th anniversary of their debut album Here's to the Losers. Charles and the guys dig into the Cocktail Nation moment of the '90s, the making of their new album The Greatest Show on Earth — written during COVID jam sessions in a Louisville warehouse with crickets chirping and trains passing — and the cinematic, Gil Evans-influenced sound that ties its six expansive tracks together. The episode closes with the band expressing hope to get back on the road, a shout-out to their partnership with Whiskey Thief Distillery, and a tease of possible activity around the 30th anniversary of the film Swingers, on whose soundtrack Love Jones famously appeared. What happens when a musical pioneer finds himself and his artistic voice after a period of disillutionment? In this episode of TRUST ME I KNOW WHAT I'M DOING, I sit down with musician, composer, and producer Karsh Kale to discuss his latest album, DUST, and the 'silent war' of staying creative in a world driven by algorithms. Karsh opens up about feeling lost after the pandemic and shares what he had to 'unlearn' to find his way back to music—not through a studio, but through a canvas and a paintbrushWe dive deep into:  • The Creative Reset: Why Karsh started painting for "no one" to rediscover his childish curiosity.  • The 10-Year-Old Rule: How he stopped chasing trends and decided to make a record specifically for his younger self.  • Lessons from a Legend: What he learned about "permission" and identity while performing alongside Zakir Hussain.  • The Anatomy of Dust: The symbolism of the end of an era and the rebirth that follows.  Whether you're an artist feeling the weight of the "dopamine cycle" or just someone looking to find more joy in your work, Karsh's journey back to his "honest truth" is a blueprint for us all.  If you enjoyed this deep dive, please subscribe and share it with someone who may need  a creative spark.--------------------------Chapters00:00 Introduction 03:16 The Evolution of Artistic Expression05:55 Finding Personal Meaning in Music08:37 The Symbolism of 'Dust' and Rebirth11:19 Creating a Mirror for Listeners14:13 Letting Go 15:46 Sponsor Break: Travelopod17:28 The Importance of Authenticity in Art20:21 The Lost Art of the Full Album Experience24:23 Translating Moods into Live Performances27:20 Optimism in the Independent Music Industry29:49 Sponsor Break: Timberdog Ruffrest30:59 The Role of Mentorship and Legacy35:34 Knowing When a Song is Finished36:59 The Intersection of Art and Music38:14 Music as an Escape and a Place to Be FoundLearn more about Karsh Kale:https://www.instagram.com/karshkale/Big shout outs to Yashraj Akashi for connecting and building trust through Tedx and EDGE, and to 7-year-old Ishank Singh for becoming the youngest and fastest to ever swim the Palk straight between Sri Lanka and India. Seeing Them Live

Play Episode Listen Later May 5, 2026 47:45

In this episode, Charles interviews filmmaker and vinyl enthusiast Steve Herold, best known for the award-winning short film Death of an Umbrella Salesman. Steve takes us back to the summer of 1984 and his first concert — the Thompson Twins on their Into the Gap tour at the Garden State Arts Center in New Jersey. He shares how the show almost didn't happen, thanks to a failed attempt to see Van Halen at Madison Square Garden, and how that near-miss planted the seed for a lifetime of concert-going. The real coming-of-age concert moment, Steve admits, came two years later when he finally saw David Lee Roth on his debut solo tour — a far wilder introduction to arena rock than the Thompson Twins had provided. Steve opens up about his most memorable concert experiences, including his best-ever shows: the New Jersey alternative band Dramarama at the legendary Fast Lane in Asbury Park in the early '90s. Those packed, sweat-soaked club nights — where getting to the bathroom was nearly impossible and crowd surfing was mandatory — turned Steve into a devoted fan and shaped his love of small-venue rock. He also recounts the 1996 Sex Pistols reunion at New York's Roseland Ballroom, an evening of full-on debauchery that ended with him and a friend finding a $50 bill on the floor — money that had fallen from the pockets of crowd surfers — and heading out to continue the night on someone else's dime. The image of punk-show attendees pouring out of Roseland and colliding with Broadway theatergoers on the sidewalk is one of the episode's most vivid moments. Beyond concerts, the conversation dives into Steve's YouTube channel, where he has spent years showcasing his vinyl and CD collection and visiting independent record stores during his travels for TV production work. He reflects on how the channel introduced him to a whole new community of fellow collectors — friendships that have taken him to record stores in Reno, Southern California, Long Island, and Charleston, South Carolina. Steve also discusses his filmmaking work, including the upcoming documentary about a former Hot Tuna drummer who is also a visual artist, and two music videos he directed for his friend's garage rock band Manflesh, one of which is set to screen at the Coney Island Film Festival. The episode wraps with a shared appreciation for the Wet Leg concert both Charles and Steve attended in 2025, and a laugh-out-loud detour into the chaotic legacy of G.G. Allin. BANDS: Agent Orange, David Lee Roth, Dramarama, Eagles, G.G. Allin & the Murder Junkies, Goldfinger, Hot Tuna, Jeff the Brotherhood, L7, Lady Gaga, Manflesh, Ram Jam, Sex Pistols, The Strokes, Thompson Twins, Van Halen, Wet Leg, Yeah Yeah Yeahs. VENUES:  Aragon Ballroom (Chicago), Chicago Stadium, Coney Island Film Festival, Exit (Chicago), Fast Lane (Asbury Park), Garden State Arts Center (New Jersey), Lounge Ax (Chicago), Madison Square Garden (New York), Maxwell's (Hoboken), Monster Music (Charleston), Roseland Ballroom (New York), Stone Pony (Asbury Park). However, there will be special “bonus” content in the weeks and months ahead, including artist interviews, available exclusively on Amazon Music's streaming service.
