I love talking to remixers as its where I started out so it was wonderful to chat to the brilliant Jon Dixon who has worked as a remixer as part of Almighty and 7th Heaven working with artists including, Cher, Steps, Kylie, Barry Manilow, Ariana Grande,, Whitney Houston, Britney Pet Shop Boys and Donna Summer. He's also an acclaimed producer and long time collaborator for the fabulous Jane Mcdonald working on albums and TV shows with her. We talk about his process including a step by step approach to creating a remix from scratch and reminisce about the very limited technology we both started out using and how sometimes having less options can be very inspiring. Really hope you enjoy this as much as I did recording it. For more on Jon https://www.7hproductions.com

Shortly before Josiah was due to take A levels, he suffered his first major depressive episode. At the time neither he or his family had a clue what was happening. Nonetheless he scraped through his exams and in the autumn went to university as planned. At university his mental health deteriorated further, to the point that he planned his own death. Josh and his mum Mandy join Jane to talk about their experiences – in Josh’s case, learning to live with depression, and in Mandy’s how best to support and help someone you love who suffers with depression. During lockdown people have rediscovered a love for DIY, but what happens to all the leftover paint that doesn’t make it on to the wall? Paint is a hazardous material and if not properly disposed of it can be really harmful to the environment. Cat Hyde is one of the founders of Seagulls, a project which takes leftover paint and repurposes it into new paint. They take volunteers such as Ash, a young woman who now works at their paint shop, who says that working at Seagulls was vital in her regaining her confidence. As the voice of Bob the Builder he had two number one singles in the UK Charts and now combines acting with running pubs. Alice Morrison is an adventurer who lives and (mostly!) explores in Morocco. She was previously a BBC news editor. She’s travelled extensively in the region, most recently completing a 78-day trek across the Saharan desert with three Berber companions and six camels, receiving help from nomads, and walking through areas of quicksand and landmines. As a teenager who was suffering from depression, Matt Wesolowski was drawn to goth culture and wrote fiction involving vampires and monsters. He is now a bestselling author but has kept his day job teaching English to young people in Pupil Referral Units. Nadia Finer is a business coach with a small voice. The kind of small voice that once made another mum at the school gates tell her own mum that ‘she ought to get that sorted out’, and which led to Nadia avoiding speaking in public for most of her adolescence and twenties. Now she’s embracing her shyness and by founding the Shy and Mighty Society and challenging herself to live in a bigger way. And singer Jane McDonald shares her Inheritance Tracks - Downtown by Petula Clark and Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen. Producer: Laura Northedge Editor: Eleanor Garland

Journalist and comedian Viv Groskop gets political and throws out the idea that perhaps Theresa May, Boris Johnson and Nigel Farage are in fact fictional characters. Viv also reveals her secret desire to emulate the career of Jane McDonald and become a professional cruise-ship crooner – in spite of her poor vocal abilities. Sam and Viv take on the news headlines but as a professional journalist Viv wasn’t entirely impressed - concluding that Big Data isn’t always as big as it pretends or life hacks all they are cracked up to be. @samanthabaines @vivgroskop
"I consume lots of human fluids that are wilfully given..." are words actually spoken during this one. We take on Cursed, the Wes Craven misfire from 2005 that had CGI that made Buffy Season 1 look like Lord of the Rings, not to mention a career low for Christina Ricci and a waxwork that looks like Jane McDonald. Then after all that bad movie trauma (and a lot of bitching) we're off to The Colony to recuperate. Yep, Joe Dante's 1980 classic The Howling saves the day and proves that not every werewolf needs a silver bullet. We pay homage to scream queen Dee Wallace, amazing FX by Rob Bottin, and the creepy porno theatres of downtown LA!

Since then Beth has written two EPs, along with endless amounts of unreleased material; performed as part of a barber-pop girl group; and sang backing vocals for Loose Women star Jane McDonald. The 21-year-old regularly collaborates with soul/Jazz band Nick Pride & the Pimptones and they have performed at Jazz bars and festivals across the UK. The weekend when my car’s MOT ended up having its own “X Factor” moment, ‘Chris the Cabbie’ was entertaining Jane McDonald in the back of his taxi, and there was a nightmare when a load of zombies were injured on a film set.
