The MF crew take a look at all the latest headlines including Roberto Mancini walking off the pitch prior to the Saudi Arabia match ending, LA Galaxy signing their $10million man Gabriel Pec, and a deeper looking into Gio Reyna's all-but-done loan signing moving him from Dortmund to Nottingham Forest. Lahoud doesn't like the move for Reyna. He feels going to a team that most likely will force him to play out of position doesn't help his case. And the team celebrate Alexis predicting this move earlier in the month.

The 9/11 attacks mean Al Qaeda will always have a place in history. But it that it? Or might it have the capacity to endure? Its striking that the UN has issued a report saying that Al-Qaida's haven in Afghanistan means it could make a comeback. The years since 9/11 have seen ever more information about Al Qaeda coming in the public domain not least because of the documents and files seized in Abbottabad, Pakistan where bin Laden was living after 9/11 and where he was killed. Nelly Lahoud, senior fellow in New America's International Security program and has analysed thousands of the Abbottabad documents and describes what she found. She is the author of The Bin Laden Papers: How the Abbottabad Raid Revealed the Truth about Al-Qaeda, Its Leader and His Family (Yale UP, 2022). Owen Bennett-Jones is a freelance journalist and writer. A former BBC correspondent and presenter he has been a resident foreign correspondent in Bucharest, Geneva, Islamabad, Hanoi and Beirut. The special forces raid that killed Osama bin Laden in May 2011 yielded a massive trove of documents never intended for publication, but in 2017 the CIA declassified them in their entirety. Nelly Lahoud, a scholar at New America, has written the first history of al-Qaeda based on a systematic reading of these documents, which lay bare the secrets of the group and serve to correct some existing narratives. How strong an organization was al-Qaeda in the decade after 9/11, and what were its objectives? How should we understand the relationship between al-Qaeda and Iran, and between al-Qaeda and the Taliban? How predictable was the rise of the Islamic State? What was life like in the Abbottabad compound? Dr. Lahoud answers these questions and more in this episode.
A look into the inner life of a notorious murderer—Nelly Lahoud joins host Richard Aldous to talk about her new book, The Bin Laden Papers: How the Abbottabad Raid Revealed the Truth about Al-Qaeda, Its Leader, and His Family.
Osama Bin Laden's greatest fear was not capture or death, but the exposure of al-Qaeda's secrets. At great risk to themselves and the entire mission, the U.S. Special Operations Forces, who carried out the Abbottabad raid that killed Bin Laden, took an additional eighteen minutes to collect Bin Laden's hard drives and thereby expose al-Qaeda's secrets. In "The Bin Laden Papers," Nelly Lahoud dives into Bin Laden's files and meticulously distills the nearly 6,000 pages of Arabic private communications.

Episode 3: Getting a Diagnosis In this episode, we discuss what kind of research we did to know who to go to with our concerns about our children (mostly searching the internet), and what type of doctors we went to in order to receive diagnosis for our children (developmental pediatrician, psychologist, physical therapist, and occupational therapist). We talk about the types of assessments the children went through (Physical therapy, Occupational therapy, Developmental evaluations, Autism testing, and Cognitive testing). We discussed the cost of testing and how long it took to receive the diagnoses. We talk about the whirlwind of emotions we felt when we received the diagnoses of stroke and autism, the lack of time we had to grieve, how difficult it was to cope with the diagnoses, and how we really didn’t have a lot of support helping us to get through these difficult times. Episode 2. Going Down the Doctor Rabbit Hole In this episode, we discuss the totally different experiences we had noticing things were atypical with each of our kids and what the push was to take the leap and get them evaluated. We reflect on how stressful the wait was before they were able to obtain an evaluation, and how difficult it was not only to cope, but to find the time, money, and energy to even try to cope with this waiting period. We also discuss how going to one doctor might send you down a rabbit hole of then going to see many different doctors and getting many different evaluations, some of which are accurate, others of which are totally wrong.
