INTRO:I'm Hank, longtime podcaster, filmmaker, and YouTuber, and this is my review of Spider-Man: Brand New Day. This is a spoiler-filled review of the movie so you've been warned.BUDGET:225 million dollars. You want to hit a 2.5x to 3x for profitability. The movie hit a billion dollars worldwide in six days.SETTINGS:New York City feels alive, populated, expansive, and adds character to the film unlike many other films that feel so much smaller. Even the interior shots of Damage Control and even apartments, felt larger than life and realistic. The damage caused in the environment also feels like it will put other people in danger.CHARACTERS:Tom Holland: Peter ParkerZendaya: MJJacob Batalon: Ned LeedsSadie Sink: Jean GreyJon Bernthal: Frank CastleMark Ruffalo: Bruce BannerLiza Colon-Zayas: Det. You can get your name in the credits of the film by donating. Head to NotScaredMovie.com for more information. I've lowered the amount to get your name in the credits.HITS:This movie lands on all emotional fronts.Happy, sad, fear, anger, disgust, surprise.I was finally invested in Peter Parker and MJ.Real Hulk returns! The Punisher and Spider-Man team up exceeded my wildest expectations! Why was The Hand there? Who cares, because the set pieces with them were next-level!Location, location, location. I felt like we were going all over New York and everything was interactive.Someone was cutting onions when we did the Aunt May flashbacks. The set pieces in this movie will be copied for years to come. The overall depth of Peter Parker/Spider-Man was something we haven't seen from Tom Holland's version of the character.MISSES:I hate when super hero movies add government oversight (save for Captain America Winter Soldier). Once you add the government you start asking questions that the story can't answer. The writing in some spots is clunky. Chris McKenna, Erik Sommers, and rewrite contributions by Justin Kuritzkes. You have to do substantial re-writes in order to get credited.I am not a fan of Mark Ruffalo's Bruce Banner.I dislike the Jean Grey introduction and casting. She does not feel like the character at all to me.Plays a dislikable character. It was far too easy to see who the villain was going to be.Some of the swinging CGI scenes took me out of the movie. They lingered on the shots too long.CHECK OUT MY NEW SHOW CALLED: Low-Budget Movie ReviewsLINK: https://feeds.captivate.fm/low-budget-movie-reviews/MOVIE SCORE: 8/10DIRECTION: A Destin Daniel CrettonWRITING: B Chris McKenna, Erik Sommers, and Justin KuritzkesCINEMATOGRAPHY: APOST PRODUCTION: (score/sfx/edit/color grade) AREWATCHABILITY: A1 Awful content = Fails on every single level.2-4 Poor = Terrible on almost every front.5 Mediocre = Some of the content is worthwhile but mostly broken.6 Average = Okay writing, acting, storytelling and execution.7 Good = Solid writing, acting, storytelling and execution.8 Great = Great writing, acting, storytelling and execution.9 Almost Perfect = Very minor nitpicks but otherwise excellent.10 Perfect = A masterpiece! It's Marvel Monday and the multiverse breaks open! ABOUT SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME With Spider-Man's identity now revealed, Peter asks Doctor Strange for help. When a spell goes wrong, dangerous foes from other worlds start to appear. AIR DATE & NETWORK FOR SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME December 17, 2021 | Theatrical Release CAST & CREW OF SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME Director: Jon Watts Writers: Chris McKenna, Erik Sommers, Stan Lee Cast: Tom Holland as Peter Parker/Spider-Man Zendaya as MJ Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds Jamie Foxx as Max Dillon/Electro Willem Dafoe as Norman Osborn/Green Goblin Alfred Molina as Dr. Otto Octavius/Doc Ock Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker BRAN'S MOVIE SYNOPSIS If you recall the end of our last Spidey movie, Quentin Beck exposed Peter Parker as Spider-Man and framed him for his murder. Naturally, Peter's life is thrown into chaos. The Department of Damage Control, something I'm almost positive doesn't actually exist but how can you know, interrogates Peter, MJ, Ned, and Aunt May. Their attorney, Daredevil, gets the charges dismissed. Despite his legal victory, the public turns on him. Feeling bad about screwing up his friends' future, Peter asks Dr. Strange to cast a spell that will make the world forget he's Spider-Man. But Peter keeps interrupting the spell to add people he doesn't want to forget, causing it to go nuts and pull visitors from across the multiverse into their reality. Peter goes to talk to the MIT admissions person but ends up being greeted by Doctor Octopus who seems to know a lot about him despite Peter never meeting him before. Peter learns that the spell has summoned people who know Spider-Man's secret identity from across the multiverse. Strange tasks Peter, MJ, and Ned with capturing the interdimensional visitors, leading them to capture Electro, Sandman, the Lizard, and Norman Osborn. Peter soon realizes that each villain was pulled from their universe moments before their death and believes they deserve a chance at redemption instead of being sent back to die. Defying Strange, Peter steals the spell that would send everyone back to their own dimension and begins developing cures for the villains using Stark technology. Peter successfully restores Doctor Octopus, but Norman's Green Goblin persona takes over once again, convincing the other villains to turn on Peter. This leads to a massive battle that fatally injures Aunt May. Before she dies, she reminds Peter that "with great power, there must also come great responsibility," leaving him devastated and questioning whether he made the right choice. Ned unexpectedly discovers he can use Strange's sling ring to open portals. While searching for Peter, he and MJ instead find two alternate Spider-Men from different universes. Maybe you've seen them before in other movies?! I dunno. The three Peters unite and create cures for each enemy and lure them to the Statue of Liberty for one final showdown. It works! But rifts open across the multiverse. Realizing there is only one solution, Peter asks Strange to cast a new spell that erases Peter Parker from everyone's memory. The spell saves the multiverse, sending everyone back to their own universes. Peter visits MJ and Ned, intending to remind them who he is, but decides not to disrupt the new lives they've built. After paying his respects at Aunt May's grave and sharing a quiet moment with Happy Hogan, Peter embraces a fresh start. Now completely anonymous, he creates a new homemade Spider-Man suit and swings back into the city, beginning the next chapter of his life as a true friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. Things are going great until Janet gets trapped in the Quantum Realm, which, as it turns out, is not an ideal vacation destination. Fast forward to after the events of Civil War. Scott Lang is nearing the end of his house arrest and trying to stay out of trouble. Hank and Hope briefly open a tunnel to the Quantum Realm, which somehow causes Scott to have a vision of Janet as a little girl playing hide-and-seek. Instead of questioning any of this, everyone decides it's proof that Janet is still alive. Hope and Hank kidnap Scott, replacing him with a giant ant wearing his ankle monitor. The trio sets out to rescue Janet, but first they need a special part from shady businessman Sonny Burch. Sonny immediately realizes there's money to be made and betrays them, leading to a fight with a mysterious masked woman called Ghost, who steals Hank's entire portable laboratory. Trying to get their lab back, they visit Hank's old partner Bill Foster, who explains that Ghost is actually Ava Starr, the daughter of another former colleague whose experiment went very, very wrong. Ava is now phasing in and out of existence and is constantly in pain. Her plan? Steal Janet's Quantum Realm energy to save herself. The only problem is that doing so might kill Janet. Meanwhile, Janet starts sending messages from the Quantum Realm and provides directions. She warns them they only have a couple of hours before the Quantum Realm decides to strand them for another hundred years. Things get complicated. Sonny learns where they are. The FBI arrests Hank and Hope. Ava steals the lab. It's alot but also nothing. Eventually, Scott helps everyone escape, they recover the lab, and Hank ventures into the Quantum Realm to rescue Janet. He finds her alive, looking surprisingly well for someone who's spent decades trapped in a dimension beyond space and time. What follows is a giant chase across San Francisco featuring shrinking buildings, growing cars, a whole lot of size changing. While Scott and Hope deal with Sonny and Ghost, Hank successfully brings Janet home. Rather than holding a grudge, Janet uses her Quantum powers to stabilize Ava and save her life. In the end, Scott finally completes his house arrest, Sonny gets arrested, Ava and Bill go into hiding, and everyone seems happy. But then the mid-credits scene happens. And it's no longer happy go lucky time. Scott heads back into the Quantum Realm to collect healing energy for Ava. Just as he's ready to come home, Hank, Hope, and Janet all turn to dust thanks to Thanos. Scott is left trapped in the Quantum Realm. The fourth MCU Spider-Man movie is finally in production. From Chris McKenna & Erik Sommers (the writers of the previous trilogy) and director Destin Daniel Cretton, Spider-Man: Brand New Day promises to be a bit of a new start for all of our favorite web slinging hero. I, of course, love Spider-Man (look at my profile photo!). He's always been my favorite Marvel character and I can promise you that will never change. The last few years have definitely been a bit tumultuous as a fan, getting some of the greatest stories ever told with this character in video games and animated movies… but then some of the worst Spider-related movies ever from the Sony Spin-Off Universe. But I think it's safe to say that we're ALL looking forward to getting Tom Holland's version back on the big screen. No Way Home became one of the biggest movies ever made, but it also left the character in a place that a lot of fans have been waiting a long time for this version of the character to reach. That being said, I don't think anyone quite expected as long of a wait as its been for this movie to just be in production, especially considering the gap between Holland's first Spider-Man movie - Homecoming - to No Way Home will ultimately be a shorter gap then between No Way Home and Brand New Day. But I really hope that the wait has been due to them knowing that No Way Home set the bar really high. At long last, we have our first looks at the suit, as well as a number of news regarding antagonists and supporting Marvel players. He was 71. Hurt's death was confirmed to Variety by his friend, Gerry Byrne. His son Will said in a statement, “It is with great sadness that the Hurt family mourns the passing of William Hurt, beloved father and Oscar winning actor, on March 13, 2022, one week before his 72nd birthday. He died peacefully, among family, of natural causes.” Hurt was nominated for four Oscars over the course of his long career, scoring two best actor nominations for “Broadcast News” and “Children of a Lesser God” and a supporting actor nod for less than 10 minutes of screen time in “A History of Violence.” He was one of the most heralded performers of the 1980s, becoming something of a cerebral sex symbol and a reluctant, albeit bankable, movie star. Hurt later transitioned into character roles in the 1990s and successfully alternated between big screen projects and television, scoring Emmy nominations for his work as a whistleblower in “Damages” and his portrayal of Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson in “Too Big to Fail.” More recently, Hurt became well known to a younger generation of movie lovers with his portrayal of the no-nonsense General Thaddeus Ross in 2008's “The Incredible Hulk.” He later reprised the role in “Captain America: Civil War” and “Avengers: Infinity War,” “Avengers: Endgame” and “Black Widow.” MCU – MARVEL STUDIOS Box Spider-Man: No Way Home (bra: Homem-Aranha: Sem Volta para Casa; prt: Homem-Aranha: Sem Volta a Casa)[4][5] é um filme de super-herói americano baseado no personagem Homem-Aranha da Marvel Comics, co-produzido pela Columbia Pictures e Marvel Studios, e distribuído pela Sony Pictures Releasing. É a sequência de Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) e Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019), e o vigésimo sétimo filme do Universo Cinematográfico Marvel (UCM).
Today on the show we have one-half of the writing team that wrote the record-breaking Marvel film Spider-Man: No Way Home, Erik Sommers. For the first time in the cinematic history of Spider-Man, our friendly neighborhood hero's identity is revealed, bringing his Super Hero responsibilities into conflict with his normal life and putting those he cares about most at risk. When he enlists Doctor Strange's help to restore his secret, the spell tears a hole in their world, releasing the most powerful villains who've ever fought a Spider-Man in any universe. Now, Peter will have to overcome his greatest challenge yet, which will not only forever alter his own future but the future of the Multiverse. In addition Sommers co-wrote scripts for Spider-Man: Homecoming, Ant-Man and the Wasp, Spider-Man: Far From Home, The Lego Batman Movie and Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle with Chris McKenna. Erik started his career in television and wrote on the ground-breaking show Community under show runner Dan Harmon (Rick and Morty).Erik tells me how working with Dan changed how he wrote and how he uses Dan Harmon's Story Circle in his writing today. We discuss how he got the Spider-man gig, how he writes with his partner Chris, what it's like working inside the Marvel Studios machine and dealing with the pressure of writing Spider-Man.I watched the new Spider-Man and I have to say it's the best Spider-Man film yet. Get ready to have your nostalgia heart-strings pulled in the best way possible. Erik and Chris did a fantastic job writing the stand-alone film, while still weaving in the larger MCU narrative, not an easy thing to do.Enjoy my conversation with Erik Sommers.
On the January 3, 2022 episode of /Film Daily, /Film editorial director Peter Sciretta is joined by /Film news writer Ryan Scott to talk about Spider-Man: No Way Home, including how the film is destroying box office records and some spoiler reveals from the screenwriters. Opening Banter: Happy New Year! In The News: Ryan: Spider-Man: No Way Home Swings Past Black Panther At The Box OfficeTop 10 movies of all time: Spider-Man: No Way Home Set To Become One Of The Top 10 Highest-Grossing Movies This Weekend Worldwide victory over Black Panther now guaranteed to pass $1.5 billion, but will it cross $2 billion? Will it overtake infinity war? What about everything else? Spoiler warning for Spider-Man: No Way Home. Peter (og Jeremy): Venom Was Nearly In Spider-Man: No Way Home's Final BattleIn an interview with Variety, Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers spilled the details on how, at one point in the process, Hardy's Venom could've played a much more active role in the story — possibly even appearing during the final battle. The pair admit that they "definitely discussed" this possibility, though obviously the creative team didn't pursue this any further. Are we happy that Venom didnt have a larger role? Will we ever see him and hollands spiderman face off? Ryan (og Ben S): Spider-Man: No Way Home Almost Had Another Marvel Character Bring In The Film's Special Guestsscreenwriters Erik Sommers and Chris McKenna revealed that initially another character was meant to bring the other Spider-Men into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. "They are brought by a Marvel character going, 'Here are the saving graces and they're going to help you through this,'" says McKenna. "It was just more of a deus ex machina." Who was the character? This change came late in the game of production. The crew was already two months into filming when Sommers and McKenna had to take another stab at the third act. Since this was the most crucial moment in the whole movie, they were afraid that they were going to mess it up. Doctor Strange Norman Osborn might've found them around the city when he was cruising around on his Green Goblin glider. Eddie Brock, AKA Venom. Wong. The new Sorcerer Supreme Peter (og Valarie): Spider-Man: No Way Home Writers Address The Logistics Of Doctor Strange's Final SpellIn an interview with Variety, the film's co-writers, Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, said "Obviously, some sort of magical redaction has occurred," "At the end of all this, we didn't want a lot of people trying to do magical math in their head," McKenna says, explaining that the donut shop scene should leave us thinking first and foremost about the sacrifice Peter made for his friends. "If people have questions about some of those details that didn't get answered here, we'll answer them hopefully in another movie somewhere down the line," For now, the writer wanted to "just focus on the emotion of it." So how do you think this spell ultimately works? Ryan (og Jeremy): Spider-Man: No Way Home Writers Considered Credits Scenes With [REDACTED]McKenna says about possibly bringing back the previous versions of Spider-Man for future appearances down the line: "I would hope so! I would love to see more of their journey. We even talked about, 'Oh, we could do a [post-credits] tag with this one! We could do a tag with that one!'" On this week's episode, Sonny is joined by Chris McKenna who, along with his writing partner Erik Sommers, wrote Spider-Man: No Way Home, which has grossed about $1.2 billion around the world … so far. In this in-depth interview, Chris discusses how a blockbuster of this nature gets made, from pitch meetings to brainstorming sessions to rewrites during the shoot to additional photography to tightening the ship following test screenings. We also talk a bit about the state of the business and why it'll be a real bummer if the theatrical experience dies off. Plus, we learn that a very special Spider-Villain is a listener of this podcast! (Or, well, has listened to AN episode.)
Aprende Disney/Pixar. Chris and Taylor review the new superhero film "Spider-Man: No Way Home" written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers and directed by Jon Watts. After his identity has been revealed to the entire world Peter Parker seeks help from Doctor Strange and when a spell goes wrong, dangerous visitors from the multiverse appear forcing Peter to discover what it truly means to be Spider-Man. The film stars Tom Holland, Benedict Cumberbatch, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Marisa Tomei, Jon Favreau, Alfred Molina, Willem Dafoe and Jamie Foxx.
É a sequência de Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) e Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019), e o vigésimo sétimo filme do Universo Cinematográfico Marvel (UCM). Synopsis for our Spider-Man No Way Home Movie Review Directed by: Jon Watts Written by: Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. Based on characters by - Steve Ditko and Stan Lee His identity revealed Peter Parker, aka Spiderman, and MJ try to escape the glare of the media spotlight and J Jonah Jameson. Pursued by the Department of Damage Control, not even the help from his lawyer Matt Murdock, can ease the intrusion of the identity of Spiderman. As it begins to affect the futures of Peter, MJ and Ned when their University applications to MIT are rejected because of the controversy Peter asks Doctor Stephen Strange if he can help. A spell exists that may be the answer to Peter's problems. Deep in the Sanctum Sanctorum and despite Wong's warning, Doctor Strange casts a spell that will make people forget Peter is Spiderman. But it is a tricky and dangerous spell skirting the boundaries of reality. As Strange begins casting Peter keeps requesting alterations to the spell which causes it to become corrupted and run out of control. While Strange manages to contain the failing spell, weird things begin to happen in New York City and they all appear focussed on Spiderman. As Peter tries to convince an MIT administrator to accept Ned's and MJ's applications, he is suddenly attacked by Doc Ock aka Otto Octavius who he manages to disarm and then by the Green Goblin who manages to escape. He brings Doc Ock back to the Sanctum where he is placed in a holding cell next to Curt Connors in his Lizard form. But both adversaries don't recognise this world's Peter Parker. Doctor Strange reveals that the spell has begun bringing "visitors" from the multiverse who know that Peter is Spider-Man into their world from every part of the Multiverse. Armed with this knowledge and with the help of MJ and Ned, Peter decides to help capture any other possible visitors. Spider-Man manages to find and capture Electro aka Max Dillon and Flint Marko still in his Sandman form. While Peter wants to save Doc Ock, Electro, Sandman and Lizard, Doctor Strange believes they should be returned to their universe to meet their fate. But with Peter's greatest adversary Norman Osborne, the green Goblin still at large, Norman uses his split personality and Peter's desire to help others for his own ends, trashing Peter's plan and unleashing tragic events for Peter Parker. With Aunt May killed and Peter desolate, MJ and Ned rally to his help, releasing Doctor Strange from the mirror dimension and recruiting two friendly neighbourhood visitors to his aid as they face off against his enemies at the Statue of Liberty. In the final battle the Spider-Men manage to cure their villains. At Peter's request, Strange fixes the spell, sending the alternate Spider-Men and their villains back to their universes, while making everyone forget Parker's existence. This week I'm facing my greatest enemies I've never faced before, but also have, in some weird way, as I chat about the latest entry to the MCU ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home' with the help of Dudi from Shaken Not Nerd! Find Dudi at @Dame_Dudi_Dench, or his show @ShakenNotNerd on his website at https://omny.fm/shows/shaken-not-nerd Spider-Man: No Way Home is a 2021 American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character Spider-Man co-produced by Columbia Pictures and Marvel Studios and distributed by Sony Pictures Releasing. It is the sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) and Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019), and is the 27th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The film is directed by Jon Watts, written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, and stars Tom Holland as Peter Parker / Spider-Man alongside Zendaya, Benedict Cumberbatch, Jacob Batalon, Jon Favreau, Jamie Foxx, Willem Dafoe, Alfred Molina, Benedict Wong, Tony Revolori, Marisa Tomei, Andrew Garfield, and Tobey Maguire. In the film, Parker asks Dr. Stephen Strange (Cumberbatch) to make his identity as Spider-Man a secret again with magic following its public revelation in Far From Home, but this breaks open the multiverse, allowing five supervillains from alternate realities who have fought their own versions of Parker to enter his universe. Because he's Batman.
