Bang bang. Oh, I think the back's a lot cooler in the front and the front's pretty cool. I like the front more I'm not even joking. She's just Contradict Well, you know, I see the world very differently because I'm an impressive thinker you are like I like this arm That's me. I don't think I can possibly rank these cups in any sort of universal way though. No, no I think based on the garment that makes sense the garmento then we're if it's like a really high quality one But it has a little hole but I'm gonna fix it with I'm gonna sew it and then better make it double It's what do they call it distressed this is a distressed garment hand-stitched hand-stitched Let's see, what's it called when it's from like a did you ever make a Build-A-Bear? Yeah, you know how you like get to put a little heart in them. Oh, yeah, that's kind of like, um if you were to If you were to stitch one of them you put like a little something in there Imagine if you had your hand in your pocket and you could feel like a little heart Hands down the worst one of these pants that actually made oh my god. I love those. I'm just kidding. Yeah, these are mid Yeah, let's not look like someone had a little period mistake Poppin they turned out sick. Yeah, that's turned out great. Did you is this the same one that you were wearing the Pop one or we oh, no, we're getting to a nevermind. Nevermind. Look at this. I answered my own question Like so these those are cool. These three pants. These two pants are all those. Those are all really good So like two out of three. Yeah, really. I mean and Someone will love the third look at that for like like I kind of crushed most let me see that one I Ain't nothing special Yeah, but like it's cute. It's fun. It's funny. I was actually wearing I'm like I feel like if it had like the spongebob flowers on it, it'd really bring it all together. Yeah, and yeah, it's I'm kind of using Just whatever whatever called stamps stamps. No, but uh Shroom prints the other one iron on patches. Oh as a way of Just covering that and also being like special. Yeah special like you Just you know, it's average but someone put a bow on it It's never fun when people like we're both we're both special. Yeah So it was Kenzie and are breaking our boundaries I'm just developing a method of like okay. How are you talking to show with your partner where it's like We need to develop the fully built characters of like, okay Yeah, we have a few ideas ideas cooking. Yeah, you take you take the lead because I'm like physically. I'm I'm popping it I'm giving it. Yeah, you are popping it. I'm I'm eating candy. Um Well, there's there's talks of maybe a documentary there's talks of maybe some Sketches skits. I don't know which comedy comedy. This comedy both the shorts turned out horribly Like not even really worth showing. I mean show Pop it and this third pair of shorts off it for me BAM BAM BAM I call it that side that side that side. Yeah, the funny if this is okay. I just didn't really have any blue shorts Me up. Mm-hmm. Yeah, and then I just blew you I don't really mind those Yeah, they're just mid they just need like I mean they're they're like basic bitch. Yeah, but like then they can let the top shine, you know That's a good point. I know like having the bomb. Oh, look at the back though. I like that that corner Yeah, this kind of matches a lot of the ones I was making later, which guys does either reinforce that like the temperature has a roll Or oh, so yeah, this beauty's nice this beauty is a beauty Yeah, so this is the vision pants No sneak peeks at what's next That's cool. Mm-hmm. That's cool over there. These pants rock. Yeah, we did a great job Whispers yeah bulbs and whispers. I know like a Framing or like a Like a way of talking like that almost looks 3d in a way. Mm-hmm coming over the way of like describing different places Kind of like clouds. Yeah, they have like six straddle cumulus. No, yeah Because like this one has a whole system has similar bulbs. Mm-hmm Is this just kind of the same as this just bulbs and splashes? No Yes, this has so much more personality. This looks so good on Though like that's where these pants like they look really cool as is. Yeah, but they look exquisite on Exquisite I can't wear cheap pants through the whole show. Mm-hmm Tiger doesn't like to be like, oh I'm getting a show from here Everyone can totally see him now. Oh, I like it with this shirt. Yes. Yeah Yeah, what can I say? Slay? I'm an intense. What else could you say gang gang? I mean gang gang Those ones looks really cool on as well. Yes, these ones will let the the tops pop top pop I mean, yeah, cuz a lot of I mean this top pops top pop Definitely. Yeah. No, it does and like that's what you want from your top. Yeah, it's to pop. Yeah, really anything you want it to pop But you don't want top and top and bottom can pop like this is a top that pops. It is a top that pops That's a cool top. The whole thing is like this is just a statement piece of this anyone looks so good They look so good on the bleach. Yeah, I like sometimes that they can't really see him. Mm-hmm There's a subtle like see ya. I can't even see ya Yeah, but then it's like if you got retroflectively splash Did you catch that you catch that leak leak leak reference? So, yeah The inside this has like some right here Mm-hmm. And so if I press right there, this doesn't have like it's like it seems like this would have been thin enough that My guess would be that the front and back would have been like much closer match. It's like that's really cool The specific thing that you just showed me Because it looked like something Nope, it's not what I thought. I thought it looked like maybe like a skeleton dancing, but it did not Oh nice back Cohesive, yeah, very cool. Very nebulous. The whole thing is I'm gonna register like when I was making this because you're filming We're talking. I have no idea how I tie this together Yeah, I'm just actually kind of standing In memoriam to story. Oh, I guess that means he's dead. That's not what I meant Thank you very much. I made the punch of myself didn't God, I mean, it's sick. I know it's really hard because I did I did get a lot of these easy gap ones to sell But now I'm like, whoa now that I got official easy Easy gap ones because I'm like a lot of minor just samples Scamples, so it's fun to have a couple there. I like the way they do this if you feel it It doesn't feel you felt it. No, but I can see oh, yeah. Yeah, it's like that's what it's that's what it should be That's what you need. I Need a easy a easy quality tag. Yeah. Yeah I believe in you. I think you can do it. I think a screen printing is the way. Yeah, I do too My black velour. I did put double X on triple X off God like that is just really divine divine. Yeah, I like that. I've got some really good phrasing for D Vine So if there's one This one's okay. I think it's kind of neat and special Yeah, nothing really special, but they're pretty cool here, but that's pretty cool. Like it looks almost like a solar flare Yes Interesting one right here. That one's kind of neat Yeah, and say I'm like if I didn't have any of these beaches and I just saw this I'd be that'd be I'd be so Stoked isn't it if this is like how one of my places turned out. I'd be like, holy shit. I'm doing this full-time I'm gonna be a millionaire. Oh my god. I'm gonna be a thousand or Yeah No, um, I mean this is this is kind of like the they play bagpipes like this is like The end of a bleach session for me. Oh like a funeral. Yeah. Yeah kind of it's more of like A celebration. It's like more of a new chapter really. Yeah selling Okay, got a little cocky and thought you could see how you could scale. Can you sell I don't want to sell I don't want to scale either though. You got to go out and work. I'm curious. So this is a really I Like this a lot more than the ones that were like I removed all of the red and is all pink. Really? Yeah, but this is just you know, it's a little underwhelming But like one or two screen prints. Oh, yeah, I know divine But I kind of like it kind of being simple. Mm-hmm. Jimple. I think I think one or two screen prints It's hard to beat that I mean like but like how much so how much more would it could it probably go for with a screen print? I don't know. This is about money for you. Yeah, it's what it's ever been about man I'm just trying to find the quickest way to make a buck. Totally. That's apparent The quicker I can get there Regardless of who I fucking hurt That's nice I Like this line, yeah, I've started just like folding clothes like like this Like I make these like folds this this sleeve. This is money. I Love the dark I like this one more. That's wild. Oh my god. I think I could do poles on these I think I'm curious house completely split. You should do poles. I mean that would be good. Yeah I was like, which ones you like more watch it be like Completely split completely split. Okay, just to get this side. You're trying to split the vote. I am Trying to do some splits and vote I'd love to see you do the splits I think you could you know Dexterity, you really put your mind to it And you're ass into it My mind it's about like my hamstrings are tight. No, it's your mind. It's your mind That's me. It's literally just your mind. You're gonna wrap your head around your feet to walk on the call like Well, I mean like, you know, oh like over time. Yeah, okay, obviously. Yeah, I'm not like you're down in the juice No, no that's my legs No, that's definitely in your legs. Would you describe this? This is basic basic trash. I mean trash it yeah Straight garb like some poor sucker will get it. Okay, I kind of like that looks like a little heart though Cute I do I do like hearts and that's kind of neat. I like the lines Mm-hmm. I started going way more line centric Yeah, like those like those really kind of solid lines like Cunning and create perfect like like symmetry which is like that's what makes the hearts. I like I like symmetry Feels right does feels good in my brain Yeah, like this one's chaos, but I'm like, I like there's still symmetry. Yeah, this one's really cool money That's a good shirt, too, I was one of my favorites, yeah Boom symmetry Yeah, this one's cool. Oh Backs a freak though. That's a cool Oh the backs a freak. Oh Looking looking That's a neat little shirt, I'm curious to see what it looks like on Fashion show fashion show fashion show at work Mm-hmm We'll treat for the audience. Oh my god, I mean it was a little cotton candy for me Google just bands make Cute It kind of reminds me of like Like someone in high school who listens to like angsty yes angsty as angsty of music as possible. Yeah, unfortunately Cute I like yeah this one I like I like Because those whites just pop out so much more just pop. Where's like this is the whites don't pop Oh, this is cute though. He's a cutie. He's a cutie. Oh, look at this This is a girl shirt this one's for the girls Yeah, it's pretty cool. It's kind of big Yeah, but it would be like an oversized. Yeah These make the best this one easy shirt that you have the it's the same cut it needs screen prints though for it to be maximum Amazing like new screen prints. I don't have yet. Yeah, I already have new screen It needs stars It needs girl shit I do like that Kind of not like I don't like his little eyes. I don't like that. I Hate that shirt. No, it's so funny That's what's dead to me You watched Wednesday. It's like you kind of like some level of that like ghoulish which I wanted to like it Yeah, I know I know I Art stylish, but you just didn't like the I didn't like I didn't like any of it. It was fucking It was horrible. It was a horrible show that everyone was like jerking off so hard And so I was like, maybe I just don't see it. Maybe it comes together and it didn't it fucking sucks Yeah, it was it was really bad. There's a couple shows in a row that you kind of like I was on a bad streak. I was in a bad place Bad place. I just like I Like the edges It's got its edges back framed. It's like a little frame. Yeah. Yeah, exactly Just look like you're out like yeah, that's pretty cool. Yeah, that was cool Well, why did this like bleach so much more? See this is all these were both gray Cut to you I've done the testing John all the testing I know exactly what I'm doing This one almost looks like okay Like someone's sitting cross-legged and then there's like fire Yeah, it's like his head's like right there yes, yeah, it's down to heat right there I'm seeing it upside down. So who knows? Can you see the face when I flip it? Stupid pimple No That is just a reflection of myself. I am the stupid. So yeah, where's the face? Well, now I see it differently. Oh, I totally see it right there right and then oh my god There's a deer head right there. Oh, there is that one. I totally saw. Oh My god, are you kidding? And then it has like two butterflies. I love it. Yeah actual George This is a Russia. This one's Russia White Russia. Oh It's okay. It would pass. It's okay. The back is not so bad that it ruins the front, correct I look like someone spilled a little drink on it or something And this interesting part is like sometimes if the bleach just barely hits a place It still doesn't it has the undercut like the color under it and it just looks like dirty Hmm, but it's not and that's what that's why I used to think that if I'd set the bleachers on opposite colors That it would stain through. Hmm when really it was just happened to be Because it was so odd. I'm like, why does this happen randomly? No Where do that term come from making headway Yeah, right This one's cool Yeah, this one's great. Yeah, this one's really cool and it kind of different way than any of my other ones have been. Mm-hmm Yeah, that one's neat Great back. Neat. Neat. Neat got a nice back to run Got a good backside This one is a little spooky vibes that's pretty like interesting like the popping Since I was going through photos, I'm trying to get those organized I saw the photo that you took for when we were watching the solar eclipse. Mm-hmm like way back, you know Mm-hmm, and it's interesting because your camera caught Like this little glimpse of light and it looks like an upside-down cross above my head. Yeah I remember that I kind of like it Kind of neat Christian Australian Christians, no this one I've reached a ton of I've made this one so cute. Look at the little stars If you look at all these pretty much all of these ones are like this same is they're so there's like army green Really? Yeah, and was army green this color? Yeah Weird. Yeah, but they all bleached into like three or four different colors really cool That's great. I wonder if they ever bleach it one color and they're like, yeah, and so then they died a darker color Yeah, I'd be curious to you. I know like maybe this was just leftover dye was my But they I mean it's high quality like I mean just the feeling of it. Yeah, it's a nice shirt soft I like to be nude for the least amount of shows possible, you know, I Try I don't I try and fail. Oh cute. I like the shoulders I really like the sides. Mm-hmm. I'm all for the side and then boom just a big This one has very much galaxy like and look you have you have little stars on your shoulders. So cute. Yeah, that's pretty cool I love me a good star. Yeah, I like a strong shoulder. I Didn't love this one first This looks like a tie-dye Sure busting out into tears way to deflate me tie-dye cross Another cutie for Kenzie cuties These keys have sold out tigers coliseum cotton of cotton has not sold a single piece. He seemed very Argumentative during the arbitration process every piece randomly go triples in price Kenzie on the other hand, she could not get rid of them fast enough. Yeah, do you want to see it? Yeah I'm gonna try it on that's high fidelity. I'm gonna give it a try. Yeah So you can get some data Kind of some shoulder. I love all of it actually. Yeah, it's really cool Honestly, I feel like it's such a specialty thing cuz it's like Small. Mm-hmm. You have you have one you're like the opposite of Deep up. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, they're all real sizes for real big People we're like tiny chicks tiny chicks with big tits Do they don't even their bras are like painting. Oh, really? I don't know tiny chicks with times Really women to be small small this one's like this is you of oh like Colors kind of there's no yellow in this. This is green and orange. That's yellow That's yellow Yeah, it could be more yellow. I stopped it at orange because I like orange more. I didn't stop it. I know I I did this I Immaculately picked the perfect time to flip. I said, hey, this is perfect freeze Yeah Hmm a little bit of a long time. I really like this V.A.I. about the road. Yeah. I love this little round thing. I'm gonna be in there and it's happy. It's having me., so a big picture. a big picture. a big picture. a big picture. a big picture. a big picture. I don't see this one make pahops though. I don't see this one make pahops though. I don't see this one make pahops though. I don't see this one make pahops though. Kind of like the um Kind of like the um I think you look good. I think you look good. I think you look good. Yeah, yeah. I think you look good. Yeah, yeah. You don't want to be on camera. That's okay. I mean you don't want to be. You don't want to be. You don't want to be. You put this one over it. I don't do green and orange. You don't do green and orange. I like green and orange a lot more than like You don't do green and orange. I like green and orange a lot more than like You don't do green and orange. I like green and orange a lot more than like Trash. I love this. Feel how soft it is. Dummy. Dummy soft. You know it's dummy soft. It is dummy soft. Thank you. It'd be a good pillowcase. Or like, you know what's the thing you put in a Trash can where the garbage goes? I'm just kidding. I'm kidding. This is why. Bandwagon jumper This is why. Bandwagon jumper Kenzie, you're mean. You just pick and pick and pick. The podcast is the only time I get Meenataker. Yeah. The rest of the time I'm like why ya ya? Except they do it. That one's Sick. Nice one. Try it. Flip it off, bitch. Flip it on, flip it on. Flip it on, flip it on. Hmm. Hmm. Which is a lot more messy in person. Like on a person. Really, really go like this To it. It's just very Off the lopsided. It's kind of just big. It's a double XL. I like it though. It covers my butt. Okay, now it looks pretty cool. Like that arm looks cool. To quote you. Right above your left hip looks great. Yeah. Stage left. Stage left. I feel like the shoulders are really like Like, yeah, they have very pointy shoulders. Yeah. This is one of the green Ones. This is black. It's funny. It has more of a green hue than the other green shirt did. Within that triangle? No. Oh, you mean other than the army green. Yeah. Yeah, the army greens are pretty much brown. You can see them right The bottom, the bottoms Of that messy, of that big star. Down, yep, those. Yeah. So those, those all turn into those. This one's great, but I don't It's not perfect for me because of the feel. It's a little, I kind of like some rougher. I feel like that would really soften up. Probably would. Honestly, so I liked it When it was flat. But this has really Surprised me. It's interesting this. It kind of looks like I like No, it's funny. It kind of looks like it's like going up that way though. I just want to see if like Does this look the same on me as it does on you? It's going to look way better on you. It really does look different on different people. Yeah. This one's great. Grip. Personal. Jersonal. That's my Jersonal file. I don't think I, I think Bang. Um, I think It looks pretty cool on you actually. Oh yeah, well it's crazy. Like, that's weird. Yeah. Not many of them do that. Yeah. So yeah, it doesn't mean to be like Like the shoulder's weird. I think it's meant for a really wide guy. Wide guy. Wide guy. Well that's you. You're a big guy. I'm a big man. This one, this one turned out great Just because of right here. This saved it. That's pretty cool. Yeah, put the vultures on. Put it on. She puts on. I just, I don't love the neck holes of them. My neck hole. My neck hole. I kinda like it. I like the feel of the sleeves. This is a nice shirt. It's a good shirt. I like the feel. Yeah. The real feel. The real feel. She's a balancing goddess. I'm trying to be wide. You are wide. I'm like a fucking line batter. You're not too wide though. That's this one. This one. Boom. Nice. And like boom. Just with that, we're pretty much done. I like when you put them away like a forklift. Me too, but these ones each gotta go to a very specific spot. This one's going up behind you. Oh. Beep beep. That's the rest of the show for like the next 20 minutes. Tiger and Kenzie pretending to be forklifts. Completely sober. Just forklifting. Forklifting. Just forking. Trying to make a living. Forklifting. This is gonna go in the cell pile. This guy. Is this the cell pile? Yeah, I saw it. If you know. If it all falls down. And it all falls down. She's looking a little wob. That's what it does. Wobbed? You have to beat the wob. Wob. Wob. Wob. It's the wob. Wob. Wob. That's a easy shirt, but I think I'll sell it. Bye. This is a easy shirt, but I think I'll sell it. Bye. This is the double layer Kenzie. I think I'll sell it. To the pile. Sergeant Pile. Is this the cell? Yeah, every single thing over there. Oh, really now? You can even put it on that really cool ass red shirt. Or hoodie. Getting a little tired here? Yeah, I'm sorry. Oh, this is the shirt that has the double. It's just a lumper. It's not a lover. It's a lumper. And then that you can park right back up there. I'm not sleepy, you're sleepy. I've always wanted to be a boss, you're sleepy. Looks like an eyeball. On the desk. I've never noticed it. You see how there's three holes? The majority of the time it's been covered up. I know how to do damage control. Wow, the back of this one looks great. That's who I talked to? He looks perfect. I do it with the back out, but it's okay. Again. Kenzie does it perfectly. Kenzie forgets the back and the front thing though. I'm so used to doing the front forward. I like hiding it. Because the back usually looks about the same. This is crazy looking. I think I do the front because I had graphic tees for a long time. And that's how I would distinguish. What shirt is this? Oh shit. Who is this, I say. I do have relationships with men. Is it my golden boy? No. Who is your golden boy? That's a good question. See, doesn't that look blue? Something could have been staining it. Who stained it? Not one of us. Who is the damager? The damager. Who? I'm folding here. You cut the clear right away. Look at that. God, you're good at what you do. That looks really nice. I don't know why that's so fucking funny. Yeah, so that one and this one are my favorites. And the one I'm wearing is okay. How is it? Okay. I'm going to take this tangy shirt off. Do the rest of the shawl. In the braless. Oh my god, I'm so sleepy. I'm so sleepy! So sleepy that I ate like two bites of that cotton candy. I'm like, okay. Donezo. Bye. But I'm really happy I documented these because I've done so many. I mean, god damn it. The amount of fucking footage that I didn't want to just be like, okay, that last one, yeah, I just skimped out on it. Because I'm going to be like, prove that you made them, man. Because you probably didn't. Where's the street cred in that? Where's the street cred? You probably just bought them. Boney. Okay, so we're living out my nightmare right now. Everyone's like, you didn't. You just, I bet you took it from someone else. From a smaller, if you loved it. Smaller, if someone was tiny. I stole it from a bitchy. Nice shirt. Thanks. It's a cool sweater, sweater, sweater, sweater, sweater. I like the green. Green boy. Alright, thanks everyone for tuning in. I don't know what I'm going to do with three different camera angles of all this. Please, god help me. Bye. Bye. Bye. Last word, bye. Can't keep doing this to me. I'm gonna freak. I'm gonna go bananas. Hidden. Didn't know the show was kept going. He freaked out. Not very well. He doesn't really do it that much. He doesn't have a lot of practice. Doesn't really know how to. He kind of just goes. I'm not happy. Fixed it. And then he goes. I'm not bleaching another god damn shirt until I'm happy. But I'm not happy until I bleach another shirt. That is the problem with life. Yup, yup. Alright, let's go watch some tv and pass out. Alright, cool. You'll stop the camera. Don't bang that thing. Don't clap that thing. Oh, wait. I'll clap it. I'll clap it, baby.

(0:00:47) Kelly: Hey. (0:00:57) Kelly: Oh, I forgot about that. (0:01:02) Kevin: And so, yeah, so, well, that’s exactly right. (0:01:03) Kelly: Is this just like my thing? (0:01:07) Kevin: Um, yeah, you’re Kelly our pumpkin queen. (0:01:10) Kevin: So here we are. (0:01:11) Kevin: Um, she’s all about this stuff. (0:01:14) Kevin: And so we are here today to talk about graveyard keeper, another, um, cottage gore game, um, technically this is a second harvest episode. (0:01:25) Kevin: Uh, Raschelle covered it way back. (0:01:28) Kevin: Like the first Halloween episode. (0:01:32) Kevin: And so I knew about it for years, but I didn’t get a chance to play it until recently. (0:01:37) Kevin: Um, and Kelly has played it significantly. (0:01:40) Kevin: Um, yeah. (0:01:40) Kelly: I only got out of it though last year. I was very new to it, so… (0:01:44) Kevin: Well, still more than I have. (0:01:49) Kevin: I’ve only played, uh, just a handful, relatively speaking. (0:01:51) Kevin: Um, but yeah, that’s, uh, we will get to that soon enough. (0:01:58) Kevin: Um, but before that, as always. (0:02:02) Kevin: Show notes and links and the transcripts are all available on the website for people to see and look at and on. (0:02:09) Kevin: Ooh, and whatnot. (0:02:11) Kevin: Um, and, uh, before the graveyard keeper will do news as always. (0:02:17) Kevin: And more importantly, what have you been up to Kelly? (0:02:19) Kevin: What have you been playing, watching, doing, yada, yada. (0:02:21) Kelly: Um, playing? I’ve really been slacking. I’ve been playing solitaire in Pokemon Go, which is not… It is, but I just… I get stuck playing it, and like, it’s fun, but I’m also like, I could be playing something better. (0:02:37) Kevin: Yeah, I mean it’s like comfort food sometimes it just it’s simple and I get it Exactly sometimes you just need a mindless game Okay, okay madman okay, I have not watched it. I’m familiar with it. That’s the one with That’s the one like 50s (0:02:37) Kelly: Um… [laughs] (0:02:39) Kelly: Yeah. Yeah, exactly. It’s like, thoughtless. Um… (0:02:50) Kelly: But I just… (0:02:51) Kelly: I rewatched Mad Men, so that I think is more exciting. (0:03:05) Kelly: yeah like 60s advertising, yeah. (0:03:05) Kevin: add agency right (0:03:07) Kevin: 60s okay all right how how mm-hmm how long is it like the whole thing oh wow that’s longer than expected well that’s cool yeah sure (0:03:07) Kelly: uh I was a big fan when it came out. (0:03:12) Kelly: uh it’s like seven seasons I think? yeah seven seasons. (0:03:18) Kelly: yeah when I first ran I jumped ship like I think after season five. (0:03:25) Kelly: uh I mean it’s not the worst last two seasons but they’re not as good. (0:03:32) Kelly: Good. (0:03:34) Kevin: Um, let’s see, uh, well, I’ve last week we covered paleo pines actually kept up with it a good bit after There was a patch that dropped It’s been a big dinosaur for a week for me. I watched Jurassic Park this week again - (0:03:35) Kelly: What about you? What have you been up to? (0:03:52) Kevin: Boy, that movie’s real good good other than that Yesterday I cried that Super Mario wonder it just came out yesterday (0:04:04) Kevin: the newest one for this switch and It’s a good one Um, I’ll plug the rainbow road radio the other show I do with our mutual friend Alex We did our first look at it on that show. We just recorded and that’ll be dropping soon It’s fantastic it’s There’s I’m only a little bit in like on the second world but like every (0:04:23) Kelly: What do you think of it? (0:04:34) Kevin: level feels like it is introducing something new and different and I mean classic Mario is good you know 2d it’s your standard 2d Mario and whatnot so the gameplay is good and it’s just filled with all sorts of fun surprises and delights I’m going to spoil people on probably the best part that I’ve experienced so far there’s this level it’s like the second or third level you can do. (0:05:04) Kevin: There’s a bunch of piranha plants popping out of the pipes and you run and jump past them and whatnot. (0:05:09) Kevin: And then there’s the Wonder Flower which changes the level in different ways or whatnot. (0:05:15) Kevin: So when you touch the Wonder Flower, it starts this musical production and all the piranha plants just start singing. (0:05:23) Kevin: And it’s incredible, you entice everyone to at least look it up. (0:05:29) Kelly: I actually, I saw it on TikTok this morning and I was like, hmm, okay. (0:05:30) Kevin: It’s just so much fun. (0:05:34) Kevin: It’s so, because it just, right? (0:05:37) Kelly: Very much unexpected. (0:05:38) Kelly: I thought it was like somebody made it at first, like, you know, somebody edited it. (0:05:41) Kevin: Yep, it’s so out of the blue. (0:05:42) Kelly: But no, it was real. (0:05:45) Kevin: Yeah, no, it’s good. (0:05:48) Kevin: It’s really funny and yeah, the game just brings smiles to me every level with all sorts of unexpected twists and turns like that. (0:05:56) Kevin: So yeah, Mario Wonder, two thumbs up for me for sure. (0:05:59) Kevin: Like I said, people can go to Rainbow World Radio to hear more in-depth thoughts. (0:06:04) Kevin: But, yeah, that’s mostly what I’ve been up to. (0:06:08) Kevin: And now, with that, let’s hop on over to the news. (0:06:15) Kevin: We have, as always, a handful of, mostly game updates. (0:06:19) Kevin: Yeah, there’s a lot of game updates for some reason right now. (0:06:24) Kevin: So we’re going to start off talking about Coral Island. (0:06:30) Kevin: Okay, the one, okay, this is a big one. (0:06:34) Kevin: For people who may not remember, Coral Island is your standard Stardew-esque, well, I say standard. (0:06:40) Kevin: It’s got all your fixings, your farming, and it’s on an island, hence the name, right? (0:06:46) Kevin: So it has the tropical aesthetic and whatnot. (0:06:51) Kevin: But the big news is the 1.0 version is launching on November 14th, which is exciting. (0:06:58) Kevin: They have a trailer, and it looks expansive. (0:07:05) Kevin: There’s a lot going on. You have your farm, you can go underwater, you can meet mermaids, you can do your romancing, (0:07:12) Kevin: you can do, I think there’s even a race in there somewhere. All that good stuff. (0:07:18) Kevin: It looks very polished and like a 1.0 game. You can also… (0:07:22) Kelly: Yeah, I was going to say, it definitely looks like there’s, it looks a lot different than like the first, you know, clips I saw of it. (0:07:30) Kevin: Yep, absolutely. Yeah, it’s definitely a game now, for a better way of putting it. (0:07:36) Kelly: Yeah. (0:07:37) Kevin: And you can also dress up as a panda or dinosaur, so you know, there’s a lot going on there. You also get your little animal crossing, you can redecorate your house wherever you want. (0:07:49) Kevin: Oh, you can even have a baby in this, that’s wild. Yeah, that is dropping on November 14th, (0:07:58) Kevin: just a couple of weeks and it will be dropping on Steam, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5 they’re hoping for a 2024 release for a Switch version. Do you think you’ll try Coral Island or look in its general (0:08:12) Kelly: I think I might. I think it definitely looks really cute. I think it depends on if I’m playing anything, you know, when it comes out. I’m trying so hard not to, like, backlog myself. (0:08:22) Kevin: Yeah, yeah, that’s the hard part right too many games Yeah, no, that’s that’s a good idea I definitely have bought back So I respect that I think you can romance a mermaid so, you know, I’m not that going free I wonder how that’s gonna work. How are they gonna move up the land or vice versa? (0:08:43) Kevin: It’s a two-story floor but the bottom floor is underwater [laugh] (0:08:44) Kelly: just uh living in a two separate homes kind of situation there you go (0:08:52) Kevin: I’m down for that, um, yeah, right now it’s only 25 bucks, oh that’s not bad for this, that’s, that looks like a lot of content for 25 bucks, so, um, get excited. (0:09:06) Kevin: Um, oh, oh yeah, okay, sure, yep, that makes sense, that’s fair. (0:09:07) Kelly: Oh, it does say it’s going to release, I think, at $30, though. (0:09:11) Kelly: There’s a note about the price adjustment. (0:09:14) Kelly: But the diving looks really cool. (0:09:16) Kelly: I played a lot of Dave the Diver over the summer, (0:09:19) Kelly: so I feel like I’m still looking for games where I can go exploring like that. (0:09:19) Kevin: Yeah, yeah, yeah, that’s good. (0:09:23) Kevin: Yeah, it does look good for like the animation stuff. (0:09:29) Kevin: I’m also a big fan of underwater type games and it looks very expansive down there. (0:09:35) Kevin: So yeah, there’s a post on Steam page with all the updates and everything. You guys can check it out. (0:09:44) Kevin: If you do have early access, it looks like there will be a save reset. (0:09:53) Kevin: So there is that. But, either way, November 14th, I look forward to it. I might actually check it out now. It looks pretty… (0:10:00) Kevin: So, next up we have Moonlight and Garland. (0:10:06) Kevin: I don’t know if this is a game announced, but it’s… (0:10:09) Kevin: Yeah, I guess it is, because they’re announcing their early access October 24th, which will probably already be out by the time people are listening to this. (0:10:18) Kevin: This is… here, let me read their, uh… (0:10:22) Kevin: The elevator pitch, where is it? (0:10:24) Kevin: A cozy open-ended life sim about finding your feet in the big city, decorate your apartment, make new friends, grow too many houseplants, and love your city life. (0:10:33) Kevin: Um, so it… yeah, it’s… it’s city-based, right? So you’re in an apartment, you’re not running a whole farm, but you can grow plants, you can have pets, um, make relationships and whatnot. (0:10:46) Kevin: The art style is… (0:10:48) Kelly: That’s the most realistic farming sim. (0:10:52) Kevin: » [LAUGH] (0:10:54) Kevin: » No, you’re right. (0:10:59) Kevin: » Yeah, yeah, Kelly can. (0:11:00) Kevin: Well, no, you’re in the house now, you’re not in an apartment anymore. (0:11:03) Kelly: No, but definitely, you know, went through that also, like, how do I keep my plans alive in my apartment when there’s no sun? (0:11:04) Kevin: But yeah, you know the feeling. (0:11:12) Kevin: Man, gosh, you’re super right. (0:11:16) Kevin: Boy, there’s a person showing an apartment with a lot of bunnies in their apartment, that seems difficult. (0:11:23) Kevin: You’re gonna have that many bunnies in an apartment. (0:11:26) Kevin: The art style is, it’s 2D pixelated, but it’s not Stardew-esque. (0:11:31) Kevin: It’s a little more cutesy than that, and I don’t know how to best describe it. (0:11:35) Kevin: And all the NPCs are kind of bobbing their head at the same time to some unknown beat, it is cute looking. (0:11:43) Kevin: And it’s only the early access, so I’m sure it’ll grow considerably more. (0:11:51) Kevin: That is, you know. (0:11:52) Kevin: October 23rd? 24th? I’m seeing two different days. (0:11:58) Kelly: I definitely want to follow up on it because just looking at the coming soon photo, it’s like why is there an iguana on the sidewalk? (0:12:06) Kevin: Hahaha! (0:12:06) Kelly: Can I have an iguana? (0:12:07) Kevin: Wait, you havin’ a guana? (0:12:08) Kelly: And then there’s also the bear man. (0:12:10) Kevin: Wait, wait, wait, wait, let me see, which one are you talkin’ about? (0:12:10) Kelly: I’m on the steam page, the early access release. (0:12:14) Kevin: What? (0:12:15) Kevin: Okay, okay, let me see… (0:12:17) Kelly: So in the coming soon photo that says steam early access, October 24th, whatever, wishlist now. (0:12:27) Kevin: Okay, okay. Oh, I’m looking at the wrong page. I would explain it wouldn’t it? Yup. There it is. Okay Yeah, I was looking the wrong page. There is a bear man. Why is there a bear man? (0:12:28) Kelly: There’s a bear man in the iguana, like do I get a pet iguana, do I get pet pigeons? (0:12:37) Kevin: Okay, I Okay, I want to mine a department full of pet iguanas that that I can do they’re pretty low-key There are pigeons. So, you know, definitely, you know, they’re hitting Oh, are they gonna have the the trash bags out on the sidewalk? (0:12:55) Kevin: Are they gonna go all in on the city? (0:12:57) Kevin: I don’t know if garland is a city name. It’s a city in texas. I know that much. (0:13:11) Kelly: Yeah. (laughs) (0:13:28) Kevin: But yeah, coming soon, early access. (0:13:31) Kevin: Next up, the clip side of early access, we got DLC patches, whatever you want to call it, for Sunhaven. (0:13:39) Kevin: This is the magical-esque farm where you do magic, there’s monsters, dragons, etc. (0:13:51) Kevin: It is patch 1.3, which includes new buildings. (0:13:58) Kevin: There are several that don’t look human, one is an angel, just straight up an angel. (0:14:04) Kevin: One guy is blue, he’s a moon attendant, whatever that means. (0:14:11) Kevin: You have to, they will be unlockable at some point, but that’s fascinating, dating non-humans like that. (0:14:20) Kevin: Oh, they will have a couple of other romancibles coming later this year. (0:14:28) Kevin: They will also have new farm structures and buildings. (0:14:32) Kevin: Greenhouses, silos, chicken coops, butterfly gardens, I like that. You don’t see that in farming games. (0:14:38) Kelly: That’s very unique, yeah. (0:14:40) Kevin: That’s cute, I love a butterfly garden. (0:14:44) Kevin: Monocyphoners, glorite siphoners, I don’t know what they are, workshops, and ticket counterfeiters. (0:14:54) Kevin: I don’t know what that means, but you’re counterfeiting. (0:14:57) Kevin: They’re up to crimes. I like that. (0:14:59) Kevin: I want to know why you can do crimes. (0:15:01) Kevin: Tickets for what? (0:15:03) Kevin: I don’t think they’re concert tickets. (0:15:05) Kevin: That’s fascinating. (0:15:07) Kevin: But yeah, there’s a whole bunch of other stuff. (0:15:10) Kelly: A lot of stuff. There’s like a ghost shed kit? I want a ghost shed. (0:15:11) Kevin: What does that mean? (0:15:18) Kevin: Do you keep ghosts in there? (0:15:19) Kelly: You grow them in there, maybe? (0:15:21) Kevin: I don’t… (0:15:23) Kevin: Oh wait, there are variations. (0:15:25) Kevin: variations because there’s pumpkin and mushroom. (0:15:27) Kevin: It looks like a ghost, oh I see it. (0:15:29) Kevin: Yeah, it has the eyes, the windows look like eyes and the glow, okay. (0:15:29) Kelly: Oh! (0:15:31) Kelly: That makes so much more sense because I was like oh mushroom shed. That’s just a shed where you grow mushrooms, you know That’s and then I just took the rest of them like that [laughs] (0:15:33) Kevin: Um, sh*t skins, yeah it does. (0:15:36) Kevin: Yeah, yeah, okay. (0:15:44) Kevin: Um, oh that’s the butterfly, wow those are big butterflies. (0:15:47) Kevin: Um, oh those are fascinating buildings. (0:15:49) Kevin: Um, let’s see, player birthdays. (0:15:53) Kevin: There is the birthday, birthday celebration. (0:15:57) Kevin: There is a huge pinata that you can hit, so I’m already down for this. (0:16:01) Kevin: Um, geez that’s like a full sized lion looking pinata, that’s great. (0:16:06) Kevin: Um, that’s uh, so all that’s included in the patch. (0:16:10) Kevin: Aside from that there will be DLC available. (0:16:13) Kevin: Um, all six different packs, trick or treat, spirit battle, rock and roll, cyber pop, monkey monkey, and dreamy ram. (0:16:22) Kevin: They’re all, they contain different items, packs, outfits, items, whatever. (0:16:27) Kevin: You guys can check the Steam page for details. (0:16:30) Kevin: Uh, for, yeah, there’s more details out there than we talked about, but, uh, yeah, that seems like a hefty patch. That seems like fun. (0:16:38) Kelly: Yeah, there’s a lot in this. This page goes on. (0:16:38) Kevin: Um, uh, yeah, it does. Um… (0:16:41) Kelly: And there’s even a coming soon, so… (0:16:43) Kevin: Yeah, yeah, they’re talking about future. (0:16:47) Kevin: Um, wow, new season of weather. Wow. (0:16:50) Kevin: Gloomy, what’s the difference between rainy and gloomy rain? I don’t know. (0:16:55) Kelly: Um, I think there’s I could I could understand that one (0:16:55) Kevin: But there you go All right, yeah, I guess. Okay, uh See like out here in Georgia. It’s a little more like rain. Not gloomy rain. Gloomy rains like hurricane force rain That’s what I think Wait no, yeah, okay. I get it (0:17:10) Kelly: No, I think gloomy rain is like when it’s kind of cold and like the sky is just dark and grey all day and it’s like just kind of constant. Like you could have nice rain, like you could have sunny rain, you could have like… (0:17:24) Kevin: Yeah, I do enjoy sun showers. (0:17:25) Kelly: It doesn’t have to be gloomy. (0:17:26) Kelly: Just like a normal rain shower isn’t always gloomy. (0:17:27) Kevin: You’re right. (0:17:28) Kevin: Yeah, no, you’re right, okay, um Yeah, so there’s all the whole bunch of stuff you guys can check that out Is that sorry? Yeah, when’s the release? I didn’t it’s it’s Oct they posted it October 20th It is oh, yeah, it’s already out on Steam. Yeah, so Now time this recording which means by the times you guys are listening. It is definitely available. That is again Sun haven (0:17:58) Kevin: Huh? Oh man, I’m just looking at the picture like a big tree man monster. I might have to check this out I like tree monsters. I I haven’t played a magic game in a minute. Well, I mean, well, maybe our keeper gentle notwithstanding Um, but it’s high, you know fantasy magic II I’m down for that. I could use that Yeah, uh, okay speaking of well, I don’t know more updates (0:18:04) Kelly: right? like i’m kind of like- i’m intrigued. i’m definitely very (0:18:17) Kelly: Mm-hmm. (0:18:18) Kelly: I feel like this is pretty different, yeah. (0:18:28) Kevin: We have so this is The what I refer to as not a city builder but a village builder because it’s medieval villagey themed But you’re helping build the whole village and run everything it is currently in early access and they are dropping a update for it I’m excited for this game myself. I’m gonna wait for the 1.0, but I love the art style. It’s cutesy and goofy (0:18:59) Kevin: and they are dropping all sorts of things in this update including a An encounter with a misunderstood Cyclops who’s very cute. His eye is just a dot His name is Eric one eye you can there will be a witch’s hut a red hooded girl Who’s looking for her grandma’s house? That that’s a speech. I don’t trust that at all. Oh, no, I don’t like that Hemisary gnomes (0:19:26) Kevin: It was seriously rare! (0:19:28) Kevin: And then a fawn with a really big nose and mustache. Oh, I like this guy. (0:19:33) Kevin: There’s a… and a few more. (0:19:36) Kevin: Well, those are fun characters that they’re adding. I love the art style and it looks really fun on these mythical, magical, whatever you want to call them. (0:19:46) Kevin: Cyclops and fawns. Gnomes. They’re fun looking characters. (0:19:48) Kelly: No, yeah, they look they look so cute. It looks very adorable (0:19:49) Kevin: Yeah. (0:19:51) Kevin: Yep. (0:19:53) Kevin: There are, oh gosh, 50 new world events and 30 new objectives. (0:19:58) Kevin: I don’t know what that means, but those are big numbers. (0:20:00) Kevin: Oh, there’s a magic bean. (0:20:03) Kevin: There’s monthly and yearly objectives. (0:20:06) Kevin: Hot weight. Positive and negative events. Oh, oh, they’re, they’re, they’re wild. Okay, I’m down for that. (0:20:15) Kevin: They have, let’s see, new buildings, a laborer guild. Oh, so you can hire better laborers. That’s fun. A bank. (0:20:24) Kevin: Oh, you can tax your villagers at different rates? (0:20:28) Kevin: Oh, that’s awesome. Grand theater? Oh, that’s a nice looking theater. (0:20:34) Kevin: Fisherman’s hut? Fish up stuff? All sorts of quality of life stuff? (0:20:40) Kevin: Well, there’s a lot of graphs in this game and things like that. I’m down for that. (0:20:45) Kevin: Yeah, that’s a lot of stuff coming. Like I said, I’m probably going to wait for 1.0 myself, but I’m glad that it’s coming along nicely. Yeah, that is again fabled. (0:20:57) Kelly: Is there any, is there any real estate or? (0:20:59) Kevin: Go. Oh, it is live. That update is already live as of this recording. (0:21:05) Kevin: So, yay. If anyone is playing the one point or the early access, first of all, (0:21:10) Kevin: somebody tell me if they are because I want to know about it. And it is out already. (0:21:15) Kevin: Um, yeah. All right. Good. Oh man. I’m just trying to fable them. It’s so goofy looking and the. (0:21:23) Kelly: Is there like an overall release date or no? (0:21:33) Kevin: uh not that i’m saying now um I have left here a quick glance um yeah so probably still a hot minute probably sometime in 2024 i’d hope but uh it’s not dead yet so i’ll take that let’s see next up we have uh moonstone island we have dlc for that this is which one’s this one okay all right we so we have dlc come (0:22:11) Kevin: Well, let me get to the details. Yeah, it’s the Halloween update right? That’s the key thing here. Um, (0:22:16) Kelly: I think so, ‘cause it’s for Halloween. (0:22:17) Kevin: We’ve got just a whole bunch of Spooky decors per their website gravestones skeletons a big old pumpkin house um Web’s five types of cobwebs. Oh Oh a rug. That’s just the tongue. That’s clever. I like that. Um, (0:22:38) Kevin: uh So yeah, there. (0:22:41) Kevin: Okay. (0:22:43) Kevin: Okay. (0:22:45) Kelly: I’m sorry, it’s actually not out yet. (0:22:45) Kevin: Okay. (0:22:47) Kelly: It’s not out, which I’m kinda… (0:22:47) Kevin: Um, there are n- some- the- so some of this stuff is DLC, which I’m assuming means purchasable separately, but there will be stuff included for free in the updates on the skeletons and things like that. (0:22:58) Kevin: Um, spirits are free- I don’t know what spirits are in the context of this game, but um, but they’re coming some out. (0:23:05) Kevin: Um, oh wow, I didn’t check- it’s got some good reviews. (0:23:09) Kevin: Um, I’ll have to check that out. (0:23:11) Kevin: Oh wow, what? Oh gosh, I forgot about- I’m remembering the game. (0:23:15) Kevin: There’s- you can fight like robots with a card battling system. (0:23:19) Kevin: They are… (0:23:21) Kevin: Yeah, oh man, oh gosh. (0:23:23) Kelly: These are really cute looking things, these creatures. (0:23:26) Kelly: I, yeah, like, I really like the style of it, yeah. (0:23:26) Kevin: This whole episode’s just me getting excited about games I forgot to get excited about. (0:23:31) Kevin: Um, as if I didn’t have enough already. (0:23:33) Kevin: There are really cute characters- there’s a fishbowl with legs. (0:23:36) Kevin: Um, I like that. (0:23:39) Kevin: that. And then at the end they just. (0:23:41) Kevin: Have a picture of a cat with like a sun hood. I don’t know but um, it’s very cute cat. (0:23:47) Kevin: That is Moonstone Island. That is already out, I believe. Why do we have a date for that? (0:23:52) Kelly: It is a very cute cat. (0:23:54) Kelly: The game is out, it says “NA” for them. (0:23:56) Kevin: Okay, thank you. But it says, while says it’s October 27th. I (0:24:06) Kevin: Couldn’t find that myself. Oh wait. Yeah, there it is. Yeah, October 27th. It’s only $4. (0:24:11) Kevin: Okay, that’s actually not bad at all and 10% off the first week. So there’s 46. (0:24:18) Kevin: Yeah, okay. Oh, it’s a new spirits must be a little monster buddies. That’s what it means. I’m excited. One looks like an apple with a worm through it. They’re just showing silhouettes. I’m just guessing. (0:24:23) Kelly: There you go. (0:24:29) Kevin: And yeah, I don’t know all that. Oh, I might check this out now. It’s a very cute game. (0:24:34) Kevin: Moonstone Island. Um Let’s see Next up we have oh, this isn’t an interesting (0:24:41) Kevin: one because boy, I never thought we’d see this this is Lonesome Village game that I notoriously advocate because the developers are from Mexico. It’s got the cute coyote as you saw puzzles in a tower. They’re coming out the fiscal edition. Pre-orders are live. You can check the show notes for the link. It is not from limited run games actually. A game a site called premium edition games. (0:25:11) Kevin: physical edition which includes all sorts of goodies including oh wow a full-color manual oh that’s exciting Wow a dog tag yeah they do um oh man a manual that’s exciting um yeah it’s great um yeah I I cover this game with Johnny, it was last year or year before, I don’t remember. (0:25:22) Kelly: Dude, the indie games always put so much into like what you get from… (0:25:32) Kelly: I love a manual. (0:25:33) Kelly: A full color manual too, that’s so nice. (0:25:41) Kevin: It’s a fun little game with lots of puzzles, and just very very cute little animal-closing-esque villagers. (0:25:47) Kelly: It looks really cute. The art style kind of reminds me of like Cult of the Lamb, but without the like paper feel. (0:25:47) Kevin: It’s actually funny because in the “story” of the game, so it’s called Lonesome Village because there’s a village and everyone’s kind of been turned to stone or disappeared. (0:26:03) Kevin: And the villains, they’re the people who did it very much look like Cult of the Lamb. (0:26:06) Kelly: Okay. (0:26:07) Kelly: Oh! Oh! It’s a cult! It’s a cult! What is happening here? (0:26:09) Kevin: Yeah. (0:26:12) Kevin: It came out around the time Cult of the Loom. (0:26:14) Kelly: I’m watching the trailer! Oh my god! (0:26:15) Kevin: It looks a lot like Cult of the Loom. (0:26:18) Kevin: The cult from Cult of the Loom. (0:26:20) Kevin: I think we made the joke in the episode. (0:26:22) Kevin: It came out around the same time too. (0:26:25) Kevin: Yep, yep, exactly. Yep. (0:26:26) Kelly: That’s so funny, ‘cause I was thinking it kinda like reminds me of the way they do the animals, like the style of the animals. (0:26:32) Kelly: But now that I’m watching this trailer, it’s like literally… (0:26:32) Kevin: It’s cult, it’s a lot like Cult of the Loom, Cult. (0:26:36) Kelly: That’s so funny. Oh, I gotta play this. (0:26:41) Kevin: Yeah, I have to check it out again. I still have it. (0:26:45) Kevin: It’s been a while. I’m sure they patched it up and done some stuff. (0:26:48) Kevin: ‘Cause I had a few rough edges back then, but I’m curious. (0:26:51) Kevin: I might do another look at it at some point. (0:26:54) Kevin: Because, yeah, props to–but, again, Mexican dev team, so I gotta shout them out. (0:26:59) Kevin: Ogre Pixel, that’s the name. (0:27:02) Kevin: But, yeah, that is a cute little logo of an Ogre–Pixillator Ogre. (0:27:07) Kevin: And again, this is the physical edition release. (0:27:11) Kevin: $40 for the premium edition, which seems to be their only version but includes all sorts of goodies. Um, I When do pre-orders end? I don’t know if I see that but the pre-orders are available now So you can check out the site and get it. Um Alright next up we have Not Garden Galaxy is perfect. We’re heading on the notes. That’s a different game that I was going to cover almost (0:27:42) Kevin: Garden story. That’s the one with the playable grape. That looks a lot like Stardew Valley a lot like It has It’s very cute though the grape that’s playable It is an update that has 11 new languages. Wow, that is a lot of languages I don’t know which ones they are. I just see the It’s out on Steam and switch already this update (0:28:09) Kevin: Very cool. Yeah, I actually don’t know what language is. I don’t know. (0:28:11) Kevin: Let’s see the details. But wow, that’s a big number. Good for them. (0:28:16) Kevin: Always props for making it more available for more people and whatnot. (0:28:19) Kevin: Yep. It is. The grape is very cute. (0:28:20) Kelly: Yeah, that’s always awesome. It really does look like stardew though. It’s cute though (0:28:25) Kevin: Next up, a new game announcement for as far as I can tell. (0:28:31) Kevin: This is called Fantastic Haven, which actually I find really intriguing. (0:28:36) Kevin: It’s the prime… (0:28:40) Kevin: Let me read the– (0:28:41) Kevin: The elevator pitch. (0:28:43) Kevin: So, this is a… (0:28:57) Kevin: Yeah, a Zook cheaper-esque type game, but they’re all magical creatures. (0:29:03) Kevin: Um, so you’re building big pens that look like circular homes more? (0:29:09) Kevin: Um, you alter the land and… (0:29:11) Kevin: It’s full 3D graphics, um, the… I think the actual designs of the creatures are actually quite nice, um… (0:29:18) Kevin: I like animals and critters and… (0:29:21) Kevin: …cheaping them and whatnot, so I’m already pretty interested, um, especially with the spin of… (0:29:26) Kevin: …like, they’re all magical creatures, I don’t see any other animals in here, I see like a griffin, uh… (0:29:31) Kelly: No, I’ve only seen, like, yeah, griffins and some weird frog with, like, horns and stuff. (0:29:31) Kevin: Yup, it’s a bullfrog, you get it? (0:29:36) Kelly: Ah, yes, yes, yes. (0:29:41) Kevin: The color shows a lot more, uh, it looks like you’re even busting some out of, like, cages and, like, carny… (0:29:46) Kevin: …you know, those carnival cages with the wheels, the cars, um… (0:29:51) Kevin: So that’s… that looks very fun, yeah, like I said, a lot of menus, probably, um… (0:29:57) Kevin: …very zookeeper tycoon-esque, um, but with the heavy, uh, magical fantasy paint over it, um… (0:30:06) Kevin: So that is right now the only release date planned is for Q2 of 2024 so it’ll probably be a minute but look forward to it I certainly am those are some fun designs yeah it’s it’s it’s charming enough for me I’m definitely interested um and then lastly okay this one I want to talk about in depth a little more because this one’s affecting me personally uh well actually there’s two me and my neck was night market once again got another patch that one. (0:30:41) Kevin: one point two point one oh whatever the it’s out on switch so you know it’s out on the steam version or whatever um so uh there’s a lot of quality of life stuff you can do with it. (0:30:48) Kevin: I’m not gonna go into the details because I don’t remember them but the other one I want to talk about because we just talked about last week is paleo pines. (0:30:53) Kevin: We just got yup okay so uh one point two point one oh whatever the it’s out on switch so you know it’s out on the steam version or whatever um so uh there’s a lot of quality of life stuff you can do with it. (0:30:54) Kelly: Which I still have to play, but I have not yet. (0:31:11) Kevin: We can change how quickly time passes in the game um oh gosh so one of the after I recorded last week with Spencer and we talked and played I was getting a lot of crashes. (0:31:23) Kevin: They had released a patch previously to fix some of that they said it was like a memory issue um but they were still experiencing it. (0:31:26) Kelly: Mmm. Okay. (0:31:31) Kevin: I felt like the more farther I got in the game the more I was crashed getting crashes uh they addressed some of that. (0:31:37) Kevin: that the game is still not free of crashes because (0:31:41) Kevin: we’ve been probably within an hour after downloading the update the game crashed on me again But it is better in general So they’re definitely aware and working on it at probably top of their list There is Also, there’s a whole list and you can check the show notes for them. I’m trying to look at which ones that are Stand out to me. Oh, there’s a cooking pot (0:31:46) Kelly: Oh, God. (0:32:07) Kevin: But it was weird because it was at some other guy’s house you have to go all the way to this other (0:32:12) Kevin: cook stuff but now you can buy one for your own ranch so that’s great oh here’s a fun one um so you can ride your dinosaurs because of course you can but the thing was whenever you got off of them they would just run away from you at max speed it was whole it was wild you could like try to stop them but um clearly not intended they have addressed that and and this definitely was an update needed and and it works um they will no longer run away from you when you get off of them (0:32:42) Kevin: um yes well luckily I think it was only in the ranch like your home base when it happened they wouldn’t leave you when you’re out in the wild oh my god that would be the worst yes but it’s still a pain because your character is a lot slower than the dinosaur so yeah yeah it’s just a pain having to go across the ranch to find them I mean it’s a pretty big ranch too um (0:32:44) Kelly: feeling it’s like okay nice I can I can get to the place I’m going to but once you’re there you’re stuck there now (0:32:56) Kelly: Oh, okay, okay, I was picturing like you, yeah, like you in the middle of like some field or something. (0:33:12) Kevin: uh there’s all sorts oh horse lock so there was a uh resource called forestwood that was needed for a lot of things it was pretty rare they increased the respawn on that that’s great um they did some ui improvements which were nice uh um lots of other things some oh there was a storage glitch spencer talked about think they fixed that um yeah just sort lots of little things (0:33:42) Kevin: because there were lots of little things that needed fixing um like I said still not 100 percent yeah yeah there is um where is it do they not have it um so there there is I read there is one glitch that they haven’t addressed yet um they know it’s an issue but for some reason at some point and it’s happened to me your game will reset to the first day of the game because there’s you know calendar like most farm. (0:34:12) Kevin: games and whatnot like you’ll keep all your stuff but somehow the calendar will just have reset to the very first game or very first day of the year which is wild um luckily I was able to get around that if you encounter it you can just reload an old save and it’s fine but um that was the wild glitch to see um but yeah that was I’m glad that came out because that addressed a lot of the little nitpicks Spencer and I had with the game and I’m sure (0:34:42) Kevin: they’re still working hard on that so good for you paleopines that update again is out already for switch and probably the other versions whatever versions it’s on all right so that was uh yeah the hearty helping of news and things but that’s now we’re doing that let’s talk about grave graveyard keeper yeah what’s what’s the tagline the most inaccurate medieval simulator isn’t that (0:35:09) Kelly: Something like that. I know inaccurate is involved of [laugh] (0:35:14) Kevin: Hold on let me look at it. Um the most inaccurate cemetery simulation game. Okay. Yeah, I think that’s what it is Okay Well Yeah, so again, um It and this game’s been up for years at this point. Um, I’ll covered it years ago Yeah. Yeah, there you go. That’s cute (0:35:24) Kelly: Oh, the most inaccurate medieval, yeah, cemetery sim of the year. (0:35:36) Kelly: Uh, they had their five year anniversary actually in August. (0:35:42) Kevin: There’s a bunch of DLC I bought the (0:35:44) Kevin: version with all the DLC I don’t know what the base game hazard does not have. (0:35:48) Kevin: I’ve only played it for an afternoon or two. I don’t think I’ve reached any of the DLC portions yet probably. (0:35:49) Kelly: Oh, did you? Okay. (0:35:57) Kevin: They’re all parody names there’s a stranger sins there’s breaking something (0:35:57) Kelly: Um, I’m trying to remember. I know the DLC… (0:35:59) Kelly: Yes, because there’s better save soul. (0:36:04) Kelly: Um, I did look into getting them, but I didn’t- I didn’t, because I think it was like- (0:36:11) Kelly: I feel like there’s- there’s so much going on in this game already. (0:36:14) Kevin: Even if it is, there’s a lot going on. (0:36:14) Kelly: Uh, that I was very happy to not have the added, um, things that like go along with the better save soul one. I heard that gets a lot of pretty tedious. (0:36:24) Kevin: Yeah, heh heh heh. (0:36:25) Kevin: Better save solo, that’s good. (0:36:29) Kevin: I don’t think that one’s out on Switch. (0:36:31) Kevin: That’s it? I don’t know if that one’s out on Switch. (0:36:32) Kelly: Oh, are you playing on Switch? I am not gonna lie. I have not. (0:36:36) Kelly: I’ve been so bad at playing my Switch this year. (0:36:44) Kevin: But, I mean, that’s fine, like, I know that the Switch port gets black for a good reason. (0:36:55) Kevin: There’s a Switch tax for sure, so I don’t blame you. (0:36:57) Kevin: But hey, at least we can compare notes on that. (0:37:00) Kevin: If you played on Steam, I would guess? (0:37:10) Kevin: Um, but okay, so let’s okay, let’s the elevator pitch Okay, first of all, I didn’t expect that this game’s an isekai That I didn’t expect at all so for people unfamiliar with isekai that is a genre of anime primarily where a character wakes up in a simulated often fantasy type world (0:37:38) Kevin: Sword Art Online and just… (0:37:40) Kevin: …other ones. It’s a whole trope now. (0:37:42) Kevin: Umm… (0:37:43) Kelly: I was gonna say it breaks the, you know, inherited your grandpa’s farm trope though. (0:37:44) Kevin: … (0:37:46) Kevin: Yeah. Yeah. (0:37:48) Kevin: You’re just a guy who gets hit by a car cause he’s looking at his phone. (0:37:52) Kevin: Don’t look at your phone when crossing the streets. (0:37:54) Kevin: It’s dark in the rain, people. (0:37:56) Kevin: It’s not recommended. (0:37:58) Kevin: And he wakes… (0:37:59) Kelly: Poor dude’s just trying to give back to his girlfriend or whatever. (0:38:00) Kevin: …yeah, his love, as he says, and… (0:38:03) Kevin: …he wakes up in a graveyard area and… (0:38:08) Kevin: There’s a talking skull that talks to you. (0:38:10) Kevin: And he says, “Hey, welcome. You’re the graveyard keeper, I guess.” (0:38:13) Kevin: Um, more or less, and sure enough, you’re put in charge of this graveyard in this little medieval village area. (0:38:23) Kevin: And you’re trying to figure out how to get back home while managing the graveyard and all the stuff people are asking you. (0:38:32) Kevin: Because, of course, people are going to ask you to do everything around here. (0:38:35) Kevin: Uh… (0:38:36) Kelly: I mean, what would a game be without everybody asking you to do all these things? (0:38:40) Kevin: Right, right. (0:38:42) Kevin: Um, so, okay, hell, you beat the game, correct? What are your overall impressions? (0:38:50) Kelly: I really liked the game. I thought it was a lot of fun. I think there’s a lot of stuff to do, (0:38:57) Kelly: like it can get a bit overwhelming, but I think, you know, it definitely involves, you know, (0:38:59) Kevin: Boy does it. (0:39:01) Kevin: Oh. Yep. (0:39:04) Kelly: looking things up online. But I will say there is an issue with how intuitive it is. (0:39:08) Kevin: Yep. (0:39:10) Kevin: Yep. (0:39:12) Kelly: I think I could have been further along in my gameplay if I understood some of the (0:39:20) Kelly: panics. A lot better. And I will say on that note, it was not always easy to find the answers on the internet. So that made it even worse. And sometimes if you did find an answer, (0:39:21) Kevin: Yep. Okay, so yeah, so. Mm-hmm. (0:39:31) Kevin: Oh yeah, the double whammy, oh yeah. (0:39:35) Kevin: Yup, it’s wild. (0:39:38) Kelly: it was from like 2018, so something got patched or didn’t work like that anymore. (0:39:46) Kelly: So, that was my biggest issue. (0:39:48) Kelly: Did it stop me from putting in, you know, (0:39:50) Kelly: 90 hours, I think, or whatever into the game? (0:39:55) Kelly: No, but there were definitely moments where I was frustrated. (0:39:59) Kelly: Or, like, again, just like, I was playing the game, I was enjoying myself, (0:40:03) Kelly: but I could have been further along than what I was. (0:40:07) Kevin: Yeah, um, okay. Mm-hmm Okay, yeah for sure they’re just Yeah, absolutely. Um, so for comparison I got the game Thursday I think today’s like Saturday. So two days ago So I’ve only played for and Mario wonder so I didn’t play as much yesterday So I played the game for an afternoon and then some um, I like the game a lot. Um, (0:40:07) Kelly: And not even in, like, a micromanagy, like, you know, whatever kind of way. (0:40:13) Kelly: Like, in, like, a… (0:40:15) Kelly: It would have made more sense. (0:40:26) Kelly: Mm-hmm. (0:40:37) Kevin: I think it is Almost minecrafty and how open it is and crafting and everything But I fully agree like that’s my biggest criticism there’s a lot that is not intuitive Or explained well Yep, yep, yep, I’m sure (0:40:50) Kelly: you haven’t even gotten or opened a lot of the, you know, different aspects of the game yet at this point, I’m sure, because it really expands. It expands a lot. There is a lot to do. There is so (0:41:03) Kevin: But I can imagine… I mean I see the skill tree. (0:41:07) Kevin: So… I can… I can… she’s… I can… (0:41:12) Kevin: So there’s a skill tree in this game, right? You have to get points to unlock your skills. (0:41:18) Kevin: And you can see how far it goes. And yes, I can see there’s a lot to unlock and do and whatnot. (0:41:24) Kevin: But… I think the skill tree is probably where I can direct my first criticism. (0:41:32) Kevin: Because there’s three types of points, whatever you want to call them. (0:41:37) Kevin: Red, green, and blue, and you need different amounts of each for unlocking each new skill, which lets you craft new things or do new things, whatnot. (0:41:46) Kevin: Um, the red and green work hard to get, but the blue, the blue is killing me because I hit a point where I had like one blue point overall and couldn’t figure out how to get more. (0:41:56) Kelly: You run out of them. (0:41:58) Kevin: Yeah. (0:41:59) Kelly: There’s a certain point where the game just stops you from getting more for a bit. (0:42:02) Kevin: Really? Wow. (0:42:04) Kelly: Not like stops you. (0:42:06) Kelly: There’s definitely a roadblock, I would say. (0:42:11) Kevin: - Yeah, okay. (0:42:14) Kelly: I struggled with that for so long. (0:42:17) Kelly: And then, of course, at a certain point, it’s like, oh. (0:42:20) Kelly: Now, actually, you’re out of red. (0:42:23) Kelly: Or now you’re out of green or whatever. (0:42:25) Kelly: And it’s like, oh, something that I– (0:42:26) Kelly: so I think one of them is done from manual labor, red, I think. (0:42:27) Kevin: yep yep your manufacturing and things yeah red okay oh you don’t get read from them (0:42:34) Kelly: Yeah, so at a certain point, you get helper zombies that you can assign to do things. (0:42:42) Kelly: So you’re no longer getting the red from those things that you would be getting red from. (0:42:47) Kelly: So it definitely makes you have to stop and think and watch everything. (0:42:56) Kevin: Yup, absolutely, um, it’s a very resource-manage-y heavy game and that includes your skill points or whatever you want to call them. (0:43:07) Kevin: That’s fascinating. (0:43:09) Kevin: Like I can see the blue are going to be very scarce. (0:43:11) Kelly: But I think it’s interesting because it does… (0:43:13) Kelly: Sorry, I was gonna say it just it does impact, I feel like, (0:43:18) Kelly: what you’re trying to do in that day. Because if you’re trying to get blue points… (0:43:19) Kevin: Right. Yeah, exactly. (0:43:22) Kevin: The nice thing, one of the nicest things about the game, (0:43:26) Kevin: there’s no real pressure. (0:43:28) Kevin: There’s no seasons or years or whatever. (0:43:31) Kevin: There’s a week. (0:43:32) Kevin: So like in six, seven, I don’t remember how long, how many days, (0:43:36) Kevin: but that’s the worst that you have to wait. (0:43:37) Kelly: It’s seven days Which and I liked I like I really like the fact that there was no pressure on the seasons or When you finished the game even or anything like that. I also liked the Each day is a different person You have to make sure that you’re getting the things you need to have done before that day so you can go and deal with that person (0:43:38) Kevin: Yep. Which go by quickly. (0:43:42) Kevin: Yep. (0:43:57) Kevin: Yep. (0:43:57) Kevin: Yep. (0:44:03) Kevin: Yep, he just gotta wait until… (0:44:03) Kelly: Because there’s definitely some weeks where if you miss that person you’re screwed (0:44:07) Kelly: Yup. And there is something later on in the game, you know, when things have slowed down in certain areas and you’re just like waiting for that one day where you can fast forward. (0:44:10) Kevin: Until that point. (0:44:21) Kelly: Yes, but I do actually want to say on that point, I think this is very interesting because there is no pause button. There’s no space yet. (0:44:21) Kevin: Yeah, sure that makes sense. Yeah, you can fast-forward at any point you should go to sleep and (0:44:32) Kevin: Yeah, yeah, even if you’re in your menus, time goes on. (0:44:37) Kelly: Yeah, you have to literally like go to the exit screen or whatever. Like the main menu page. (0:44:41) Kevin: Yeah Yep Yep, so if you’re looking through your notes here You know hemming and hawing at a menu thinking about where you want to spend your points that happened to me just just today When I was playing I cuz I finally got some blue points today. And so I was just like agonizing over I wanted where I wanted to spend them and before when I got out of the menu Oh, it’s evening already. Cool. The whole day’s [laughter] (0:44:43) Kelly: There’s a certain page that stops time, but the rest of them don’t. (0:44:48) Kelly: Mm-hmm. (0:45:09) Kelly: Yep. (0:45:11) Kelly: Yep. (0:45:12) Kevin: But they’re the kind of I mean, I don’t know if it was their intent or not But the way to combat that it’s very easy to reroll your did your save like you own there’s no autosave It just saves when you go when you wake up So most of the time you can say you’re pretty much have a safe at the start of the date or start of the day, excuse me, and You can just reload to that and have a plan or save yourself (0:45:23) Kelly: Oh, yes. (0:45:25) Kelly: Yes. (0:45:29) Kelly: I would just quit the game. (0:45:32) Kelly: Mm-hmm. (0:45:40) Kelly: Oh yeah, no, there was many times where I would either just, you would see like the NPC walking away from their post, and I would have to go and reset the game and then do the day over and make sure I got there early enough. (0:45:47) Kevin: Oh my gosh. (0:45:50) Kevin: Yep. (0:45:52) Kevin: Oh my gosh. (0:45:54) Kevin: That happened to me twice already when I go down and Snake is running away and like, “No, I need to talk to you, Snake.” (0:46:02) Kelly: oh god he’s so annoying he’s so annoying for the skill points though I think it’s like kind of fun like there’s some weird ones you can choose from uh-huh (0:46:05) Kevin: He is. (0:46:08) Kevin: He is. (0:46:11) Kevin: Yeah. (0:46:13) Kevin: Overall, I’m a big fan of the Skilled Trees, umm… (0:46:17) Kevin: Because you can very much pick and choose if you want to focus on certain areas and whatnot. (0:46:23) Kevin: Umm, obviously like… (0:46:25) Kevin: To get green points, that’s the farming stuff, so you do want to invest in some of that stuff. (0:46:30) Kevin: Umm, but like, early on you can really get through a lot of the wood and metalworking stuff. (0:46:37) Kevin: Umm, and again, with almost no pressure on when to do it, umm, it’s… (0:46:42) Kevin: It’s very open and you’re very free to pick and choose as you want. (0:46:46) Kevin: You know, (0:46:47) Kevin: the limitations of how many skill points you actually have notwithstanding. (0:46:52) Kevin: I think it is a clever system. (0:46:54) Kevin: And because you get to see what’s coming ahead, that helps you plan that too. (0:47:00) Kevin: I really like that. (0:47:01) Kelly: Yes, definitely. (0:47:01) Kevin: Um… (0:47:02) Kelly: There was definitely some areas in the skill tree though where I did not understand what, (0:47:09) Kelly: like if you unlocked something, (0:47:12) Kelly: I didn’t understand how to access it afterwards, (0:47:15) Kelly: which then led to me diving down a rabbit hole, (0:47:18) Kelly: trying to figure it out. (0:47:18) Kevin: Yeah, sometimes that’s a little unclear most of the time When you look at the skill tree thing it says okay, you can craft at this bench or that bench or whatever But some are not very clear. Yeah Some aren’t super clear. Yeah But I do agree (0:47:27) Kelly: Mm-hmm. Yeah, no, it definitely is pretty good. (0:47:30) Kelly: It’s pretty good. (0:47:34) Kelly: Can we talk about the main premise of the game, which I think is the most weird and fun part is, you know, collecting your corpses? (0:47:41) Kevin: Yeah, the it’s definitely yeah the differentiator the the the graveyard itself. Yeah, let’s talk about that (0:47:43) Kelly: Because you are, you are quite literally the graveyard keeper. So you get a (0:47:54) Kelly: Annoyed little donkey that delivers corpses to you. (0:47:56) Kevin: I’m red donkey from a leftist stable [laughter] (0:47:57) Kelly: And oh my god, there was so many times where I would hear that bell and just be so far away from home. (0:48:06) Kelly: And just go running because it’s like the second you hear that bell that corpse starts, you know, deteriorating. (0:48:12) Kevin: Yep Yeah, that’s that’s an interesting aspect that the forps is deteriorate and it affects a lot of things And yeah, they’re kind of deliver just at random times. It feels like I didn’t detect any pattern Umm… (0:48:22) Kelly: Yeah. (0:48:23) Kelly: Yes. (0:48:27) Kelly: No, they can definitely be whenever. (0:48:31) Kelly: And they can pile up too. (0:48:34) Kevin: Oh my gosh, I don’t think I’ve had that happen yet, but I could see that happening. (0:48:35) Kelly: Yeah, no, they can definitely pile up. (0:48:43) Kelly: I mean, this game goes in depth. (0:48:48) Kelly: I have freezers for bodies. (0:48:53) Kelly: So, you know, it’s like you are literally treating it like a morgue, like… (0:48:57) Kelly: But I think one of the most fun parts is removing the organs, (0:49:03) Kelly: but also the most hard to understand initially. (0:49:06) Kevin: Right, so yeah, let’s talk about that because as very early on you’re introduced that you have options to do the corpse One you can bury them in your graveyard. It has a prettiness rating you how you decorate it Well, you bury them and whatnot You can even just throw it in the river or cremate them or You can take them into your morgan Do a little bisection, you know see what you can poke around and find in there pull out a skull some blood What? (0:49:36) Kevin: A bit of flesh. (0:49:38) Kevin: It’s fascinating that they gave you this option. (0:49:43) Kevin: There’s… (0:49:44) Kevin: I haven’t gotten too in-depth with the body parts. (0:49:47) Kelly: So, I’ll explain it. It’s a lot. (0:49:51) Kelly: Basically, your corpse, so when you bury a corpse, you want it to be as high rated as possible because it impacts your cemeteries overall like beauty rating, (0:50:05) Kelly: which is a whole different aspect. (0:50:07) Kelly: And that’s a big part of the game because it kind of roadblocks you if you don’t keep up with it. (0:50:11) Kelly: But so you want to make sure you’re removing. (0:50:14) Kelly: If you remove certain organs, it makes your corpses… (0:50:17) Kelly: …that’s how you can remove them. (0:50:19) Kelly: If you remove other organs, it decreases it, and they don’t really tell you at first. (0:50:23) Kelly: You have to unlock skills on the skill tree… (0:50:25) Kelly: …that tell you. (0:50:25) Kevin: Yeah, I mean they tell you like there’s bad organs, but you don’t you can’t tell which ones until you go get that later (0:50:29) Kelly: Yes. Yes. (0:50:34) Kelly: And so you can remove organs, and you can also try to put the organ back. (0:50:38) K

3:[1:21] He went as well. Track 2:[1:22] His last name is Rock. Track 3:[1:23] I know. That's why I kind of wish I was him for that era. Track 2:[1:27] Jeez, dude. Track 3:[1:29] Bon Jovi, Offspring. Track 1:[1:31] He's not as good as the producer Michael Indy. Oh. Track 3:[1:35] Oh, look at that. Track 2:[1:36] Yeah. Track 3:[1:39] No, but seriously, Bob Rock, he was all over the place. He even helped out Cher. But 311, Skid Row, Motley Crue. I mean, this guy. Track 2:[1:48] Which 311 record? Because Grassroots is just, that was a breakthrough, man. I don't know. Track 3:[1:58] I'm not a fan. I didn't know that one. I'd be curious. Track 2:[2:01] Their later stuff, it wasn't. But I bet he's a big Bob Seger fan. Track 3:[2:06] I'm sure. He's sounded pretty significant with Metallica. I was wondering if you, If that rang a bell for you, Mr. Pete. Yeah. Track 2:[2:18] I mean, is this his first record that he's produced with The Hip? Track 1:[2:22] This is the first one. He does two. He does the next two back to back, which they seem to, that seems to be what they do. You know, they work with the producer and then, and thenwork with him again. And it's worked, you know, on a couple of occasions. Track 2:[2:39] Oh, man, yeah, he's got a fucking dude this guy's got a He's got the hair and everything. Track 3:[2:45] She's yeah got a rap sheet. I almost Almost crushing on him Ryan Adams, right? Track 1:[2:51] Yeah, So there was there was great anticipation I think amongst Maybe not the diehard hip fans because the diehard hip fans were gonna we're gonna buy the record regardless andenjoy it regardless. but that that outer fringe that that had been listening the people like me uh that had been had been diehards but had in in between evolution despite you guys really liking it was a recordthat was divisive for me at the time uh i was just listening to other things and you know that's that's all there was to it so um i think that um i've lost my point because i was watchingJessica in the back and she's distracted. Track 2:[3:46] Thanks, Jessica. Geez. Track 1:[3:49] Geez Louise. Oh yeah, the outer fringes like me were thinking, well, Bob Rock knows how to produce a hit record. Maybe this will be the one. You know what I mean? That's like, that's going to bring me back and bring back. I don't know why I was so concerned with their success in the States. I reallydon't. It's, it's, it's pointless. Track 2:[4:14] I feel like it is something that is just fucking ingrained in you Canadians. I mean, I, it's like this, I don't know what it is. I think it's so stupid, but I get it, but I don't get it. I'm just like, why didn't we break through? Why haven't they broken through? Why do you want Americans to like you so much? Guess what? Americans aren't all that fucking great. Take it from one who is one. Track 3:[4:38] In half of us are fucking idiots if not more not more these days, I mean, there's a lot of reproduction happening We're probably towards 60% now. Just I would say Yeah Yeah, you know when I walk down the street I'm like Just ready Let's go No, but but you know I asked the bot, the AI bot, why the hip never broke through acrossthe border other than Detroit and where? or upstate New York, wherever they were playing. And the bot was like... This is my bot voice, it doesn't really exist this way, but the bot was like, They were just too Canadian. Track 1:[5:16] Oh, really? Track 3:[5:19] Yeah, that was a serious point from the bot that people thought that maybe they were just too Canadian. And I thought, wow. Track 1:[5:26] Okay. I don't even know what that means. Track 3:[5:30] Well, because a lot of the content is Canada-themed stuff, you know? Track 1:[5:37] Yeah, but it's not in your face unless somebody points it out. Track 3:[5:43] I mean, that was one explanation. Track 1:[5:46] Yeah, I hear it. Track 3:[5:48] Just content of lyrics. Track 2:[5:50] I mean, if that was the case, for crying out loud, dude, Rick Moranis and John Candy would have never been accepted into popular culture in the United States. That can't be it. Yeah, wrong. Track 3:[6:04] Maybe so because I was thinking, what about the boss? You know, or, I mean, all these artists that sell out concerts around the world. Yeah, was Bruce Springsteen to American? God forbid. Track 2:[6:19] Yeah, a little too American for me. Definitely. Track 3:[6:22] By the way, those blue jeans, pretty handsome. Wow. Track 2:[6:27] And you mentioned Metallica, Tim and JD. He didn't just produce Metallica, but the Black Album. Track 1:[6:35] The Black Album. Track 2:[6:36] Yeah. The one that like, I mean, say what you want about Metallica. I mean, I like a chunk of their stuff. I have a connection because James Hetfield went to my high school. You know? Track 1:[6:49] We know that from episode two. Track 2:[6:52] Do we know that from episode two? Track 3:[6:54] We do. I found this other podcast where it was really hidden inside iTunes, and it's about Pete getting beat up by James Heffield, like he returns to speak at the school and singles outPete. I don't know. I heard that. He said they met at the end, but... Track 2:[7:12] I've never seen the guy, never met the guy, but no, that record was pivotal. I mean, that's where they went from heavy metal band to worldwide, like if you go to another planet, people heard of Metallica. Track 1:[7:27] So here's, here's, this is exactly my point. My point is they had, they had four or five really great records before that, that Metallica fans cleave to and absolutely adore. And Metallica would have had a great career with, with, with just, you know, if they hadn't released the Black Album, they would have had a good career, you know, on the backs of thosefive records. But they did release the Black Album and Bob Rock did produce that record. So there was a thought in my head that maybe the same thing could happen with my band. And that's ridiculous and arbitrary and it ultimately I know doesn't matter, But I think that that's where it came from. Track 3:[8:10] So JD, you mentioned this album wasn't all that for you. Is that what happened? Or what was your reaction when it came out? You said you were late to it? Track 1:[8:20] Yeah, I didn't really get into this record as a fan until I really gave it a bunch of time. And that was when we did the Fully and Completely podcast. I gave it quite a bit of time. And I ended up appreciating it. it. To me, it's an interpretation of a Tragically Hip album, and it's not one that I think is the best interpretation of a Tragically Hip album, but there's some real highlights on it. There's somereal highlights on it. Track 3:[8:59] Do you mean to say it personifies a Tragically Hip album? Is that what you mean by that? Track 1:[9:06] No, because that would mean I would be be making it a person, and calling it by name and things like that. And in this case, what I'm doing... Track 2:[9:15] Okay, you're not buying it a beard, dude. Okay, you're not taking it home, dude. Track 3:[9:20] We're gonna cut that out. No, I'm joking, I'm joking. But with that, did this album kind of represent to you, like, this is a great hip album, it checks boxes? Track 1:[9:32] Or what do you mean by that statement? No, I mean, it's an interpretation of a hip record. A hip hop record to me has backing vocals that I can hear that are Paul Langlois and GordSinclair doing the backup vocals. It's got... Track 2:[9:47] Are they not singing backup on this one? Track 1:[9:49] They are, but it's just mixed differently. It's like you don't hear them the same way. There's like gang vocals on this record. It's true. Track 3:[9:57] It is a little different. Track 1:[9:59] It's just, it's a little bit odd. It's like walking into a room that you're really familiar in, but you have like a feeling like something is off. Like, am I in the same dimension? You know? Track 2:[10:14] It's like when Howard, the duck landed on earth and, and, and thought he was like just home until he saw the first human. Right. Track 3:[10:22] Exactly like that. I mean, that's what I was thinking. Yeah, like yeah. Track 1:[10:27] Yeah, so we gotta we gotta blame Bob Brock for that then That's where I'm going with this Yeah, and he get like I say he gets two stabs at it and this is this is his first stab Yeah, andthere's a lot to like, you know, I don't know. Track 2:[10:39] Should we get into the song by song or We should yeah, we should and when we do I want to I want to kind of comment on what you said JD Because I feel like there's a reason. Track 3:[10:50] Let's keep going with it. Let's keep going. Track 1:[10:51] Yeah, let's go. Track 2:[10:53] Well, I was just gonna say, I hear you when you say I know what you mean by you say it's a hip album personified. Because it's different. It's like, it's a hit, but you're like, something's, it's a little bit like Black Mirror-ish. It's like, is there something I'm missing right now? Yeah, something feels weird. I feel that, you know, it's funny, I got to think to myself, like, what do the members of the hip think? Because like, when they hear, if they were to be flies on the wall in this conversation, because, you know, they all listen week over week. This is a fact, we know this. No, but like, for them, it's probably, I mean, maybe there were some things different, but they're just like, what the fuck is this guy talking about? Track 3:[11:35] They were out front of my house this morning. They were just like, they're hoping to get a glimpse. Track 2:[11:41] Pitchforks? For the first two episodes? With their machetes. Yeah, Jesus. But I feel you, dude. I feel you completely. I do. There's something, not off, but like, as the listener, it just, like, you'll see it when we start talking about the song. I'll point out a few things where I'm just like, yeah, it's saying exactlywhat you just said, JDS. Track 1:[12:06] So where did you guys listen to this record the first time? Track 3:[12:09] Man, I after we last recorded I had a garage project to do and I brought a speaker out there and Got in my zone and just cranked it up and out the gates. I was like, oh this is gonna be Maybe a really fun album and then even during the first song I had I paused it several times and I was distracted and I had Things going on so I did likerestart the album and restart the album restart the album and that has not happen to me with my listenings. So, this one just out the gate for me it was like... all these things were happening but ultimately with the first song i was kind of like whoa what do i think of this it's it was i was a little bit perplexed so yeah after that of course just all thetypical stuff of how i listened to albums just all over the place i really gave this one a lot of time and at one point was like i need to hear this on vinyl i want to hear what's going on withthis album because it was a little bit different and I wasn't necessarily wanting to buy it on vinyl because it's like my favorite one yet. I don't know, I just, I was a little perplexed by this album. Track 1:[13:22] Yeah, yeah. It can be perplexing, yeah. Track 3:[13:27] I was overwhelmed. How about you, Pete? Track 2:[13:33] I did something a little different with this record which was actually good and not to my own even knowing that I was doing it. But I listened to it, I think I first listened to it was inthe car. But second of all, I did some heavy listening right off the bat and then I took a fat break because I was doing other stuff and was busy and I couldn't listen to anything. So I came back to it, revisited it and it gave me a whole new perspective on what the record, what it was, like really, really cool. I mean, it was totally unplanned, but I think when you like, when you start listening to a record and then just listen a bunch over a week straight, nonstop, or like, like regularly, you don't,you look at it one way, but when you listen to it for a bit, and then you put it down and then you come back to it, you have a different perspective than I certainly did. Track 1:[14:32] Interesting. Can't wait to hear more about that. Okay, well let's jump into track by track then. We start out with, you're not the ocean. Track 3:[14:48] Man, you're not coming in. You're not coming in. This song is, it's, well, at one point I was like, Pete's belting this out in the car for this chorus, for sure. So I was trying it too, you know. I love Gord's, whatever he does at the kind of end there. It's a big song. I thought, you know, there's a few songs on this album where I'm like, this is amazing for karaoke. And this song is just big. It's a big singer that way. Is it a breakup song? Is it about death? Or is it like drowning? I read a little bit on it. And there was a lot of Ontario Lake references. You know, it's this, this was kind of, this for me was kind of a word song talking about lots of stuff. Track 1:[15:43] They're called the Great Lakes, Tim. Track 3:[15:43] The Great Lakes, sorry. It was specific to Ontario Lake because, for this song, supposedly, because all those lakes send all their, you know, garbage down into Ontario, which is themost polluted out of the greats. So is it the least great? I don't know. It's somewhat of repetitive song. I like the piano add in. there's piano, like first song I'm hearing. Track 2:[16:08] A lot of piano on this record. Track 3:[16:09] Yeah, a lot of piano, I mean that was, I don't know if that was some Bon Jovi influence in there or something. Anyways, the guitar riff feels a little added, like, you know, like weput extra icing on the cake. Yeah, it was, this is a big song for me. Big chorus. Holy cow. Let's scream it together on three. You guys ready? Just kidding. It's a big one. It's a big opener. Track 2:[16:41] Yeah, I mean, I think this song is, the best way I can put it, summing up in a sentence, this is fastball down the middle, tragically hip. Like when I heard this song, it was just, just, I knew what I was listening to. It sounded like the hip. To me, it was like, and I didn't really dig into Bob Rock prior to the record, but it's like somebody went into the safe in Gord Downie's house, pulled out theformula that is for writing hip songs and fucking followed it and then folded it back up, put it in an envelope, put it in the safe and locked it. Because this song is fucking formulaic, tragically hip. Not in a bad way, in a really cool way. I loved it. I loved Gord's vocals. I love when he gets really high and goes like an octave up. You're not the ocean. And then he goes, you're not. It gets really, it's just, dude, yeah. Track 3:[17:42] And the wolf. Track 2:[17:42] A lot of wolves on this record, man. And it's just, it feels really like, going back to what you said about this record being a hip record personified, it feels like this record wasmanufactured to feel safe and familiar for hip fans. For people to like press play on the first one and just be like, okay, all right, my boys are back. Okay, cool. Okay, cool. Track 1:[18:11] Yeah, I can't hardly disagree with you. Like, I can't. Track 2:[18:15] Just the vibe that I got, you know. Track 3:[18:18] My vibe was kind of like, are we trying to get an older crowd? It didn't feel young to me. I don't know. Track 2:[18:27] Well, this is what, almost 20 years on, right, JD? Track 3:[18:30] Right, exactly. So, you know, fans are getting on in their years. Just hold another conversation. Yeah. The Lonely End of the Rink. So this one I thought was just remarkable in that it could be about Gord and his brother, or Gord or his brother individually, and hockey. And I mean, this is the hockey song, right? Track 1:[18:57] Yeah. Track 3:[18:57] They play the song at games? Track 1:[19:00] I'm sure they do. I'm sure they do. Track 3:[19:03] Yeah. Yeah. This to me was like, you know, the bot said maybe they were too Canadian. I don't I don't know. They play hockey in different countries. Track 1:[19:10] That's right. Track 3:[19:12] But not being a hockey guy, but being a father of two dudes and thinking about brothers, I kind of dug it. The beginning kind of guitar riff start feels like we're getting into an anthem song for me right away, like that guitar at the beginning. Track 1:[19:33] Yeah, this song is written to be played live for sure. Track 3:[19:36] Yeah, the drum and the bass is just super charging. There's this echoey, Pete, if you remember, this is echoey guitar. 100%. Beep, beep, beep, beep, beep. So I've heard that from a few bands, but the first time, actually, Amy and I were in the car and I played the song for her and I said, what does thisechoed out guitar remind you of? Well, I don't know, because there's a few, there's a few, But she said, Duran Duran, this is from Duran Duran. Oh my God, what were these guys listening to on tour? I think they werelistening to anything and everything. I think. Track 1:[20:14] I think they were probably pretty. Track 3:[20:16] I would love to know. Track 1:[20:17] Pretty loose about what they listened to. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. Track 2:[20:20] My money. Track 3:[20:22] That was, what was yours? Track 2:[20:23] No, my money would be that they were, I mean, this says Unforgettable Fire by U2 written all over. Oh, completely. Unforgettable Fire, that whole, like the records just, I was, I was just like, this is, this is... Track 3:[20:39] With like a sprinkle of Robert Plant. I don't know. Track 2:[20:44] There's something else. Track 3:[20:45] There's something else here. Track 2:[20:46] But the thing that was so surprising for me on this song was the drums. Like, Johnny Faye's drums, like, I don't know if it's Bob Rock. I don't know what, but like, I mean, I knew the guy's a good drummer, but this fucking song, all of a sudden he's fucking Stuart Copeland or Neil Peart. Like, what the fuck? Like, I mean, dude, like the drum work is just ridiculous. Track 1:[21:12] He's great. Track 3:[21:13] I agree. I thought at one point the drums on this album were maybe the most raw hip. I don't know, it just that to me was kind of, thank God the drums are that way on this album. If they were polished into like a fucking Bentley or something, Bobby Rock-ish, can we call him Bobby? Track 1:[21:36] You can, you're tight. Track 3:[21:37] That might piss him off if he hears this. Yeah. But yeah, the drums on, I think, throughout were killing it on this album. Track 2:[21:46] But if JD told me, if JD told me, oh, you know, one note about this record, beside it being produced by Bob Rock, Johnny Faye does not play Jones on this. It's just, they have another genre for whatever reason. I would just be like, Oh yeah, that makes sense. Like, and it's not a knock on Johnny Faye. I've just never heard any fucking thing like this from him. Like nothing, nothing. Track 3:[22:05] Yeah. Track 2:[22:07] Nothing. Track 3:[22:08] Almost like he was angry. Do you kind of feel that? Track 2:[22:10] Oh, yeah. Track 3:[22:11] Like, yeah, like not, not hyped about the, maybe the recording process. I don't know. There There was something different on his drums. Track 2:[22:17] Yeah, dude, there's some anger in there. There's some, yeah, all the cool licks. There's an acoustic lick in there and some harpsichord-style effect. But I thought of you, Tim, because there's no, like for a song this grand, they didn't fade it. They ended it, which is cool. Track 1:[22:34] It's true. Track 2:[22:35] Don't fade this shit, man. Fuck it all up. Track 3:[22:37] The momentum of it is really fun, kind of that charging, drumming momentum of the song. It's like, a few songs on this album are kind of locomotive feeling, like they just getgoing, you know? And I think that matches up with part of, at least some, you know, a chunk of the lyrics of this song of joining, oh to join the rush, you know? With Gord's voice just kind of climbing, oh to join the rush! It's fucking great. This was, as comparatively to the prior one, this one I was like, ah, people must, the Canucks must love the song live. Track 1:[23:16] Look at you representing the Pacific Northwest. What's your team called? There's a trivia question. What's your team called? You don't even know. Track 3:[23:27] Dude, I don't follow sports. It's not in my head. Track 1:[23:30] The answer is the Kraken. The Kraken. Track 3:[23:34] I don't even know that. And it makes me laugh because it's ridiculous. You could have, you could have made up like the green zebra tomatoes. You know, I wouldn't have known any better. Track 2:[23:46] Geez. Track 1:[23:48] All right, we go way out of the hips, normal lane, with this next track in view. What did you guys think of this left turn? Track 2:[24:04] You want to take it, Tim? Track 3:[24:06] I mean, I'm just scrolling through the lyrics here. It's really simple. The drums at the beginning of this one, okay, here's more drum notes, are really kind of big and strong and then it softens up. It kind of softens up. Like the song to me, the rest of the music didn't really match the way the drums start which is I'm sure purpose I'm done on purpose but it's like whoa where is thissong shifting to it's it's like felt kind of cute there's keys in the background you know I was like phone rings once phone rings twice phone links three times you know it just felt like Is thiskind of a cash grab radio hit? What is going on here? But you know, of course, I read a little bit about it. And there's like, references to quantum physics and Plato and Gorf's, Gorf's, Gord's believe in God. So, like, is he calling on the Lord? This song confused me. I'm just, if that's not obvious by now. I just wasn't really sure. Track 2:[25:26] Everybody's confused with you now and then. Track 3:[25:30] It's super fun to get into and sing through. Track 1:[25:34] It's fun, but then those lyrics are sort of dark, aren't they? Like, I mean, I've been meaning to call you, I've been meaning to call you, then I do. So this person, for whatever reason, has been meaning to call this other person, and it hasn't called them, then finally does, and the phone ring once, phone rings twice, the phone ringsthree times, and then what? They don't answer? It goes to voicemail? Like what? Like, oh my God. Track 3:[26:04] I mean, if they were calling the Lord, they might still be waiting. Who knows? Track 2:[26:10] Yeah, I don't know that they have voicemail in heaven. I've not been there myself. Track 3:[26:16] Look at that, Jesus doesn't have an iPhone. Wouldn't that be awesome? He'd be so big. Yeah, I don't know. I'm not sure who they were calling or what this one's about. It's kind of fun, but I was like, eh, what's next? But what about you, Mr. P? Track 2:[26:30] I mean, was this a single, by the way, Genie? Track 1:[26:33] I believe this was. Let me just quickly take a look. Track 3:[26:37] It felt damn written. Track 1:[26:39] The first single. Yeah, I mean. Track 3:[26:41] Yeah, there you go. There you go. Track 2:[26:43] I hear you guys with the lyrics and I've been, I think at a certain point, when it comes to The Hip, I've come to appreciate their lyrics so much because Gord's great at what he does. There were a couple times early on when I was digging into lyrics, I started to give them too much weight and it started to sway my opinion of the song, which is fucking stupid becausemusic is not supposed to do that. I mean, yeah, it is in a certain way, but if you really like something and then you dig into the lyrics, like when you dig into the lyrics of the song, fucking, I'll be watching you by the policeand you really know what it's about. No one's gonna fucking like that song and play it at their wedding. It's a creepy ass song, right? But if you kind of step away from it, and you look at it in a different light, you just listen to the melody of it. It's fucking it's a beautiful song. This song is a fucking banger. It's an absolute toe tapper. I loved it. I was fucking that the fucking keyboards. [27:50] I mean, I just was Happy as a pig in shit listening to this. Yeah, I couldn't remove this perfect pop song I am a sucker for a pop song and I make no fucking bones about it man. You know, you give me a pop song That is just pure bubblegum and rock candy and I will just be like where do I sign? This is this is this is one and I just I mean, I loved, loved, loved it. Loved it. Loved it. I think Go ahead. Track 3:[28:25] No, you go. Track 2:[28:28] I was jumping into No, I just I think it's a song like this. It's easy for any hardcore hit fan to be like, fuck that they sold out or whatever. Like, he's such a fucking asshole about it. Excuse my language. But dude, you know what, if I'm any one of those fucking dudes in the band, they probably had a blast recording this. They probably had a shit ton of fun fucking playing it live, becausepeople just fucking dance to it. And it's fun. And anybody who says anything coarse about it, go fuck themselves. That's my piece. Sorry. I guess I'm fucking myself. Track 3:[29:02] So what about this? What about this? I love these lines, right? What about these lines right here? Day erasers dark of night excited states gone in plain sight under the wave or by cave light i lose things change but never in your eyes i mean that's the loaded bit of this song at the endbut you're just going through and you're it's it's nuts to me like i'm i'm hearing the song i'm singing the chorus like you can sing along to this one right even on first listen if you're a megafan you're probably like yes, phone rings once, phone rings twice. And then this Dark Eraser's Dark of Night happens, and it's like, whoa, Gord's throwing the dagger at the wheel at the end here. Track 2:[29:51] Maybe he's just getting shit to rhyme and to fit the song too. I mean, you also don't, that's why I don't, I give, unless somebody's, unless it's like really obvious or whatever, I just try not to give lyrics that much weight because it could ruin a song. I could see if I dig into the lyrics of the song, which I did not, Tim, it would've fucking ruined it for me. I just choose to be like, oh, that's, you know. It is what it is, you know, because it's that's that's another thing because Gord's lyrics are so They're like, you know 30% THC in the CBD like dude you one drop and you're fucking done. So you got to be careful with it it's really potent and And and I I I take his lyrics with a grain of salt because otherwise like all the dude the And the Chani Wenjack shit, dude, if I reallystart digging in and thinking about that, it gets me like depressed and like super pissed off and like, yeah, you know, it does bring attention to it, which is great. But like, if I can't, I can't hold that as close to my heart as I do with some songs, because it just will fucking wreck me. Track 3:[31:15] I guess I'm kind of in the middle like I look into them to a certain degree and I either go all the way, which rarely happens or I kind of stop halfway up the hill, you know, but myone of my favorite things lyrics wise on this one is just his use of the USA calling the USA, the excited states. I think that's what that is and it just made me forever want to call where I'm from the The excited states, the excited states, because it's so true. It's like pew, pew, we're ready. Track 1:[31:49] Oh my God. Track 3:[31:50] We're so excited all the time. Excited in schools, churches, everywhere we go, we're excited country. So that, I mean, it's a packed song. It's simple, but it's, yeah, let's just keep moving. Track 1:[32:05] So the next song that we have to discuss then is Fly, which is our first song that we've heard that isn't a single. Track 2:[32:17] I think this song is, the placement of it is perfect because you've got these three fucking just monsters before and then it kind of brings it down. To me, I felt like it was, I'm in a bar in Alaska. And it's cold out. But when you get inside, it's nice and warm and toasty. And there are mugs of beer and there's a jukebox. And like, it's a romantic comedy. Track 3:[32:48] A pair of glowing thighs. Track 2:[32:50] Totally, man. I'm telling you, man. Track 3:[32:53] That lyric in here is amazing. Track 2:[32:55] I know. Track 3:[32:56] Coastline rise is like a pair of glowing thighs. Track 2:[33:00] See you soon. The chorus is a fucking banger. I just felt like this song was just a feel-good song that didn't slow... like sometimes the songs that slow it down in track three or four, whenever that song comes on a record, it will maybe sometimes put you in a depressing mood or whatever, but this songbuilds up to some fun. But it just, it does take it down a notch in a very nice, beautiful way. I loved it. Yeah, not much more I could say about it. I liked it. I liked it. Tim? Timmy? Track 3:[33:37] Yeah, I just thought there was some fun one-liners in here. It's kind of, I echo what Pete just said. I felt like it was a good number four. It's the guy batting clean up and you know he's solid for a single, you know, to keep things alive. And I think that's kind of what this song is. It felt a little, this is where I went back to Bob Rock and I'm like, this is a little bit Bon Jovi-esque feeling. It just, you know, that's that was kind of about it for me. Track 2:[34:11] By the way, I think what you mean, and I'm not trying to split hairs here, I think what you mean is Jon Bon Jovi. Because if anybody knows anything, there's two things. There's Bon Jovi, which is the band, and then there's Jon Bon Jovi, which is the solo shit. I felt Jon Bon Jovi on that. Track 3:[34:30] Yeah, well, I'm just more referencing like shoulder length feathered cut hair. Track 1:[34:35] That's a lot of years you're covering there. Track 2:[34:39] Well, I mean, Blaze of Glory was by and far his finest work, his finest hour, as was the film Young Guns 2, which... I'm with you there. Track 1:[34:48] I'm with you there. A lot of the movies. It was great. Track 2:[34:54] Oh, oh, God, I gotta rewatch that. Track 1:[34:56] Let's go into the next track, which is one that I always remember from when this record came out, because I had something named the same thing that I had written. I just think, this is me tooting my own horn, but I just think that title, that misspelling with the word sick, Which is journalism speak for there's a spelling error there. It's just so clever. I love it. But what did you think of the song? Track 3:[35:26] Yeah, I mean, I did speaking of spelling errors, I did read that Gord is quoted as saying it actually wasn't supposed to be world container. It was supposed to be world contain her. Oh, really? guys yeah yeah so supposedly the the, you know the the title of this album is incorrect so maybe it's somewhat of a reference to thatyeah so was that I that keep going on the song. Track 2:[35:55] Was she put into a parcel? Because I mean, I don't know. Track 3:[36:02] I don't know. Yeah Maybe maybe maybe it's hmm. That's that's another that's another hit mystery that we'll never know wonder if she's was priority or first-class Well, she had probably would have been DHL if she was coming out ofCanada So who knows? Yeah What do I have on this one, you know, it's I I just immediately went to, where Pete doesn't go sometimes apparently with songs, is like, who is this about? Is this a proposal gone bad? Is it rejection? Is it about being infatuated with someone and not having that feeling reciprocated? And there was some bit I read about it that this... where do I have the quote? This gal from... I guess gal... Lexi Liu. Who knows? Where am I gonna go here? Okay, so this person online wrote that it was about... she had experienced that it was about a teacher of hers who was dating Gord and she rejected Gord's proposal. And supposedly there's like a whole story there about Gord's, you know, one of his relationships. So who knows? Track 1:[37:28] I've... I've not... Track 3:[37:31] I've not heard that story. You have? Track 1:[37:35] No, I haven't. Oh, you haven't? Track 3:[37:37] Okay. So that, that to me, I mean, it got to this level with this, with this song and the lyrics and the content of it. But for me, it kind of got to this level of like, all right, whether or not this one's about, you know, a breakup or what have you, it's, it's, um... it's not my favorite on the album. It's catchy and it's good. It's a good song and it ends kind of at this height of energy, right? Track 1:[38:07] Yeah, it's not around long enough to be a fan. Track 3:[38:11] Yeah, it's... Track 1:[38:11] But it's not a great song, I don't think. Now there will be somebody out there who it's their favorite song and that's cool. That's what's cool about music. Track 3:[38:23] I thought about this one. I don't know. Yeah, I don't know when I'll hear, listen to this one next is kind of what I thought it was like, what's what's next on the album, but I'm curiouswhat Pete thought of it, of course. Track 2:[38:34] You know, I liked it a lot. I mean, I thought that there was some really cool ideas, like they were kind of experimenting with with the song. And I thought that there was like, chaos within that builds up to the chorus. chorus, and then it just returns to the verse. And you're like, okay, you're like, what the fuck is this going on? What is going on? And then it comes back to the verse. And you're like, okay, all right. Yeah, we're back. Because it's a bit disorientating. And, you know, Gord's vocals on this just singing for that guy must have been so cathartic. Track 1:[39:14] Like, he really puts a lot into it. Track 2:[39:17] Yeah, but it feels like he's doing it like he's a guy who like, you know, needs to exercise three hours a day at the gym. And like, that's just him exercising three hours, and you're just like listening to him do it. Because he's like, I got to do this, it's like part of my routine. And he's so good at it. You know what I mean? Like, and, you know, I want to just, you know, we can move on after the song. I like the song. It's definitely not one of my favorites on the record, but I like it. In terms of lyrics, and I just want to say this too, because I don't look at lyrics as much, or I don't look at things, there's a couple reasons for that, and I just want to say why. [40:08] Because, well, for me, writing songs, when I write songs, it's really hard to write a song that's so thematic. You know, that's like one idea that starts off and it's sewn up at the end like a fucking with a bow on it. And like, even then it's like, like, let's say it's not completely thematic, but it's, it's about something. Maybe not like super specific. Even that's hard. Like a lot of shit I've done is just little ideas of things sprinkled in a song and it's like kind of of just jumbled in and thrown in there so sometimes people ask you about things you're likewhat and the reason why I bring that up is because when I make a Steely Dan reference here I don't know if you guys have ever listened to any other shit a lot of people give them a lot ofshit I'll take that as a no I haven't listened to an album no I'll say the same thing but I have no nothing against Steely Dan? No, well, I mean, they're amongst people, amongst music heads, they, the biggest thing they get asked is what the fuck are your lyrics about? And the guy, the singer of the band who's written most of them or the other guy had written them, they always ask the same question. What's this song about? Because the lyrics are just all over the fucking place. [41:30] And ninety nine percent of the time is just like, I don't know, man, we You are just coming up with cool shit to say. I mean really like that's and their lyrics are regarded much as you would regard something like some pixies or pavement lyrics is just like super avant-garde, super strange like what youlike, whoa, that what the fuck is that about? And then you come to find out it's like, it's just, it's just no, yeah, it's nothing. Track 3:[41:59] Well, just random journal entry. Track 2:[42:01] Yeah, totally. And that's another reason why I think I've been head faked a lot and I don't dig into to them because I will prescribe a certain. a feeling or emotion to a song and come to find out I'm fucking wrong, or it's not at all about that. Like, hence, I'll be watching you, or every breath you take, excuse me. And then you're like, fuck, man, why did I play that at my wedding? Track 3:[42:28] You know, I have to think conceptually with Gord's songwriting, like he is such a prolific songwriter. And like, back to one of your first comments be like, I thought it must be, have been, it must have been exhausting to sing these songs or like be on tour and singing classic, you know, 52times in what, two months? Something crazy? Like, god damn. But with his songwriting skills, I mean, I can stop and hear one-liners that are fun and that I enjoy, but he pushes me, the way I receive it, it pushes me into going down rabbit holes of like,what was this song about? And there's been a few where I've listened to him and thought the chorus was, you know, A, B, C, D, E, and I actually look up the lyrics and I have some of the words wrong. It's hilarious. And I love when stuff like that happens. Like, that's entertaining. That's entertaining for me. Track 1:[43:30] That's great. Track 2:[43:31] Excuse me, excuse me while I kiss this guy. Track 3:[43:34] I'm still, I'm still, you know, JD, you've, you've commented on this with me before, but I'm still like, here's an album. It's like a book to me. I want to hear it start to finish and see if there's anything about it that's creating this novel. Or is it like this current album, which I feel like you can put in and put onrandom and it kind of doesn't matter. Order wise, it's one of those types of albums for me. So this song, Lovesick, in general, it's big, and it has this kind of a quick stop ending. It's got a lot of energy to it. After this, I was like, OK, what are we getting to next? I'm kind of like chugging along in this album, trying to get to what maybe is less produce of a feelingand more authentic hip. Track 1:[44:28] But the kids don't get it. Kids don't get it. Track 2:[44:30] Kids don't. Track 3:[44:30] That was it. That was it. It's a fun start. It's got a good build. There's like, quickly into it, there's this, I think, Pete, I don't know if you caught this. I think it might be a drumstick on top of a cymbal. Track 2:[44:47] Yeah, yeah. Like doing a swirl. Track 3:[44:48] Yeah. Right? It's like a swirl sound and then it fades off. I love that shit. I don't want that all the time. I feel like that's the surprise ingredient on a pizza, but there's that sound in this song a few times and it's fucking cool. You know, it's like, yeah, the kids don't get it, I was thinking. We're Gen X, you know, we get it. We were born without technology and we've integrated and we know both sides and that's what this song's about. Generations growing up just being in the middle of it and not getting it and all the hard work this band does and yeah the kids don't get it. But then as I listened to this song probably 20 times I thought, nah, Gord's smarter than me. what is he thinking about with this song, you know? And it felt more like anti-government, like you're not gonna fool us sentiment, which kind of made it even more, for lack of a better word, more punk rock feeling. Like this song was checking and way more boxes for me. Lots of whoos in it, you know, it just, this one is like Bobby Rock left the room and the guys busted out this song. That's the way it felt for me. Track 1:[46:16] Oh, I love it. I love that. And I love it especially because there's almost like a dichotomy of a lyric In this song kids don't get it and the next song, pretend. I think it's. Track 2:[46:36] Oh, there is. There certainly is. Track 1:[46:39] It's that, if I ask you a question, are you gonna lie to me? I said, honey, is that your question? Cause that one's easy. And then we get the, you know, that, that, that. Version of it is the banger version you know and the other version is a little more tone down but top heat what did you think of the kids don't get it. Track 2:[47:01] Well that was the first thing i wrote about pretend obviously but in terms of the kids don't get it i loved it i mean i echo much of what tim said i love the chorus the no. Kids don't get it. The woos in this song, Gord's singing like, he's like a, he's like a fucking pissed off buffalo. You ever seen a buffalo before? Track 1:[47:22] Yeah, driven. Track 3:[47:24] Driven by him. Track 2:[47:26] I was one of those assholes. Track 3:[47:27] They're as big as Volkswagens. Track 2:[47:29] Yeah, yeah, yeah, no, they're huge. Track 3:[47:32] You're one of the assholes? Track 2:[47:33] No, I was one of the assholes that gets out of the car at Custer National Park and, you know, walks over to one. and thinks like, oh, this is cool. Take a picture. And no, that's a fucking dumb move. For anybody listening, thinking that that's cool, or that's ever something to do, don't do it. It's fucking stupid. Track 1:[47:56] To be fair, the buffalo was having dinner. He said to you very politely, if you had waited till I was done dinner, I would have totally let you have the photo. But now I'm gonna tohave to run after you like a pissed off buffalo. Track 2:[48:11] Just said fucking that is the first memory that jogged my mind when I heard Gord's fucking grunts in this song. I feel like he, I want to watch more interviews with him. I really want to dig deep. I just haven't had time. But I want to figure out like, one, whether or not anything Tim has said throughout this his pod in terms of lyrics and meanings, like I know a lot of it has credence to him. But maybe some of it doesn't and like what he thought about it, because I feel like a lot of his words, he just writes down his poetry. And then he shows up to the studio is like, Hey, guys, let's do the song or let's make this song or whatever. Track 3:[48:52] I think he does that, too. I totally agree. Track 2:[48:54] But like, I wonder how much part of it he's sitting down with an acoustic guitar, and like working, working songs out with the lyrics he's written, because that's a whole anotherprocess, you know, to like write a bunch of shit and then to write chords. Like you got you got fucking Paul A. Wan and Gord Sinclair and Rob Baker to do that. You know, so I'm I'm just wondering, you know, what that is. And then if he was Scott, I wish he was fucking alive, man. I would love to fucking interview that guy or just talk to him and just be like, dude, what the fuck? And either I feel like therewould be two scenarios. Either he would be super fucking cool and chill, like, yeah, man, we're just fucking doing this and like this and like this happened, blah, blah, blah, blah. Or he would just like, look at me and be like, you're a feeble minded fuck. I can't wait for this interview to be over, get the fuck out of here. Track 3:[49:51] I think that's what he'd say about me. Track 1:[49:53] No, I don't know. Track 2:[49:55] Probably, probably. You're more nuanced than I am. But I just. Track 3:[49:59] He'd be like, Tim, you're about 16% right on the themes of my lyrics. And that's what I would love. I mean, that's what I love about this guy. I mean, he's obviously so fucking prolific. I wish I had like a book of his poetry sitting right here. Because, you know, he's one of those artists where you get served up something. And everybody, I think, could take their music a little bit differently but have this thread throughout it that joins all the fans together. You know, it's kind of... It's kind of what's amazing about them. And in that regard, who the fuck cares if he was writing about Canadian themes and the discussion of why they didn't make it in Orange County? Track 1:[50:47] Whatever. Track 3:[50:49] It's kind of like, who cares? How many bands not from Japan sell out shows in Japan all the time? They just want to be entertained. and maybe people just need to be entertained and not look into it that much. Track 2:[51:06] That's Stan McKe- That's Stan McKe- I- Stan- Stan McKeta? Or no, his name's not Stan McKeta, but Stan McKeta's Donuts. The people need to entertain, need to be entertained, Wayne. They need the distraction. Like the voices in my head. I thought you said- Why do they come to me to die? Why do they come to me to die? Oh my god. Oh my god. That's- You know, anybody- Wayne's World, like when he goes, why did they come to me to die? Why did they come to me to die? I think it's Wayne's World, too. Track 3:[51:42] Honestly, I thought you said spanakopita. I was just thinking about delicious, delicious Greek baked goods. I was totally in a different land. No, but I, I, let's, let's keep moving this, this song when I heard it, it was exhausting and it was the first song I hit forward on who was like, give me what's next. Yeah. Pretend. If you don't pretend and I don't pretend, pretending might end, but pretend can pretend to end. It's like, oh, this is arduous. This was tough for me. Track 1:[52:22] Wow. Track 2:[52:24] Yeah. J.D., what do you think? I'd love to like, as a hardcore hip. Track 1:[52:29] Well, it meanders. It certainly does meander. If I'm ranking the 11 songs on the record, it's in the bottom 10, right? It's either 10 or 11 on this record for me. But I'm just so curious. I'm so curious about that stanza, like why he chose to use it again, and then why did they sequence those songs back to that? Track 2:[53:00] Totally, right? Track 3:[53:02] I don't know. I don't know. love to know if they, you know, what level they took part in the production of this album. Track 1:[53:12] Did they just hand the keys over? At this point they were very fluent in studio, so I don't know that they get a production credit. Let me quickly look. Usually they do. Track 3:[53:22] I mean, this one I thought at one point after, you know, I did of course listen to it in complete, but... Track 1:[53:29] No, this is producer Bob Rock, period. And most of their other records, even when it was like Steve Berlin. It was like Steve Berlin, the tragically hip Mark Freak, or something like that. So this is, this is interesting. This is straight up Bob Rock. Huh. Okay. Track 3:[53:50] I had thought like the three of us need to do karaoke of this one so we can be like arm and arm I'm just shit-faced. Track 1:[53:58] Pretend? Track 3:[54:00] Yeah. Track 1:[54:01] Oh my gosh. Track 3:[54:02] I think we should pretend to do it and not actually do it. This is a total sing with friends, ironically singing with friends song. It's like a really nice glass of red wine or made me think of like plush velvet. I don't know what the fuck is happening. It's the song's candlelit and I don't know why it makes me feel that way. And it was like, skip, oh, it was tough. Track 2:[54:28] Yeah, I thought it was, I said, it feels like a love song in a fine dining restaurant during Sunday brunch. Yes, Sunday brunch. Track 3:[54:39] See, we were fine dining together. Track 2:[54:41] No, I mean, it doesn't feel, it feels like another band or like, now Gord's singing, And I know Gord had some soul stuff that he did. before he passed, but it definitely feels like, oh, this is not a hip song. This is some of the solo stuff. There's jazz guitar in there, which I gotta say, man, I mean, it speaks to Rob Baker's skills, man, because that guy fucking, I mean, he makes it sound good. The chorus feels really 70s, almost like there's a- AM radio. Track 1:[55:19] Yeah. Track 2:[55:19] Yeah. And there's something that they do with Gord's vocals in there. It's a 70s style thing that came about in the 70s, I feel. But Scott Weiland from Stone Doole Bynes was popular for it. It's where they double the vocals. They take literally I don't he doesn't re-record the vocals. They take the same vocal track, they double it And then they put it like they put the one track offset by like a millisecond to the other. So it sounds more full and rich. And they put put them in in one left, one right. And it sounds like gives this really weird, unique effect. And Wyland, Scott Wyland was prolific for that. But but, yeah, it's got that vibe to it. Fucking random. That's all I have to say about this song. Track 3:[56:12] It's like having two turbos on your car when you record like that, when you produce like that. Track 2:[56:16] It's like having 11 on your amp. Track 1:[56:17] Yeah. Track 3:[56:19] But why not make 10? 10 the loudest. With the lyrics of this one, when I finally, you know, let it, when I finally absorbed it really, because again, I skipped it on first listen, Um, I,you know, maybe this is like a fucking, maybe they were pretending, I don't know. Maybe the band, you know, maybe the band in their, in their career, maybe they're in their career at this point. I mean, I'd be exhausted and to a degree with trying to make it bigger than they are now. It's like, you're in the industry, you are a fucking... When you don't like it, you might be feeling like a marionette, you know? This is big, giant business happening with this band's career, and this is one of those songs maybe they have todo. Track 1:[57:16] Wow. I mean... Track 3:[57:18] Yeah. Track 1:[57:20] Let's move on because I don't dislike the song so much that I'm willing to beat it into a pulp. No, no. Track 2:[57:30] I don't know. Track 3:[57:31] I'm sorry to offend all the Canadians. Track 2:[57:33] I want to make one more quick point real quick. And this is not really about the song, but about the band. And I'll be really brief. My apologies. But to what Tim said about the band. No, no, no, really. This is the band, you know, being exhausted in this night. You have to think this is 2007 right? These guys have been at it 20 years right? They could fucking quit at any time in terms of like probably set money wise. I mean maybe they're not fucking living in, they got three different mansions but I would posit to think that every member of this band is not worrying about where they're going to gettheir next fucking meal. [58:13] Okay, yeah, they were when they did the 100% so That being said though This is a time where things were like through the 2000s, you know up through 2000 early 2002 thingswere like Record sales and all that stuff. They were making a shit ton of money and then think about this time though, man music and Streaming was coming up sales for records tanked, all that money, all that revenue thatpeople were used to just disappeared. And so I would imagine to think that this band went through a bit of a come to Jesus so to speak, and was like... I guess we do. I mean, maybe they're not thinking we got to break into the American market like every fucking Canadian thinks, or we think thinks. But like they're thinking we got to fucking

Long-distance songwriting partners Helen Austin and Paul Otten, who make music together as folk/pop duo Big Little Lions, are no strangers to Folk Roots Radio. Despite being based nearly three thousand miles apart, Helen (from Vancouver Island) and Paul (from Springboro, OH) are prolific songwriters. In fact, during the recent pandemic they released a new song a month, before wrapping everything up as their excellent 2022 album "Happy Accident". They are now back with their seventh long player and first concept album, "AMPM" - which is based around a day in the life and the challenges we all face; and features songs about anxiety and self-hate, the grind of daily life, the perils of parenting, and the value of community and forgiveness. AMPM comes with all the hallmarks of their music - playful and thought-provoking lyrics, tight harmonies and catchy tunes. Helen Austin and Paul Otten joined us on Folk Roots Radio for a fun conversation about this creative new project. Visit Big Little Lions online at biglittlelions.com. Music: Big Little Lions "Oh It's You Again", "Worth The Time", "It's 5 O'Clock Somewhere", "Almost" and "Why Won't My Brain Stop" from "AMPM" (2023, Fallen Tree Records). If you like the artists you hear on Folk Roots Radio and want to support them, don't just stream their music – BUY their music, and then you'll really make a difference to their income at a time when it is becoming much more difficult to make a living as a musician. We consider whether another defeat could be catastrophic for Spurs, if Brendan Rodgers might be a little concerned by a game against Palace and if Benitez could send Ole into a tailspin. We’re keeping this musical train rolling this week with a movie that has thrills, chills, and a whole lot of blood spills. Is it too much blood? When it comes to Sweeney Todd, there is no such thing! That’s right, this week, Steven and Sean are talking about the gruesome Tim Burton musical, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. Is there anything grander than jolly ol’ England? You’ve got pale skies, grimy streets, and a non-stop supply of the tastiest meat pies around. What’s that you ask? What’s in the meat pies? Oh… It’s probably best not to ask those sorts of questions. You may not like the answer. Instead, you’d do well to watch and enjoy this masterful tale of revenge. There are some truly great songs thrown in, as well. Every single actor is bringing their A-game to this tale. Johnny Depp as the wronged, titular barber; Helena Bonham Carter as the hopeful baker and accomplice with love in her heart; the great Alan Rickman as the maddening judge who will surely get his comeuppance. That’s just to name a few. Steven has only the best things to say about the music and sound work that was done for this film. We’re sure the stage versions of this musical were done very well, but this movie was impeccable. Not only was the sound great, but we’re tipping our hats to the actors who nailed these songs. Who knew they could sing so well? We didn’t but we’re glad to have experienced their talent. Sean spent most of his movie-watching time marveling at the beautiful, mostly monochromatic cinematography in this film. Dariusz Wolski crafted an astounding look for this film. His work supports the grim story so well that this film feels like it sets the bar for any Sweeney Todd adaptation. It’s grisly, confident, and dazzling. This may be a tough film to watch given the buckets of blood, but it’s always worth a viewing. Tales of revenge and a barber who’s maybe a little too skilled with his straight razors don’t come along very often. This one is special. We’ve got another great musical in store for you next week! Tune in to keep the songs and chatting going. Five of my podcasts, the view from the crow's nest. It is the 29th of August, 2020 It's a Saturday and it's the release day of the grip this guy experience to toe to toe to toe, toe, toe, toe. Wow, like a human trumpet and feels good to get it out, it really does feel good to get out. But, that said, I basically was day off took a day off total Family Day often aside from launching it this morning, and occasionally checking on my phone to reply to a few messages that's basically not thought about or done any work today. Particularly, and it's been a lovely day we went out this morning to the Botanical Garden called Villa, or avina, which is basically cactus city. If you like cacti, then you will absolutely love it because it's full of cats and cacti I should say. But it was it was actually it was really nice. And it's quite small in terms of our hearts ansata is quite small in terms of the area, but it's kind of very dense and compact, so hang on a sec. I've got this avatar in my sights don't lose him. Don't let me lose him Tell me lose him. If I get him. I can't hear. Hard to tell in a second. And. Anyhow, I digress. And Heather's lovely cafe in this car in the middle of it, which actually didn't sell basically anything other than sort of very nice fruit juices and things, but there's this beautiful outdoor area with the lovely chairs as a waterfall upon with carp I think and stuff like that. And they had a guitar. In a case, I saw it was basically nobody then someone asked if I could play the guitar and so I spent a little bit of time playing guitar in this really nice outdoor Oh It's lovely. So that set up the day, most beautifully. Then we went to have lunch in the crater of the volcano. Ah, to the playground. We went to the playground, that we've been to quite often with the kids, we've been there for you know a few family days out it's a really nice playground, which is a lot to say, in Ischia, and in fact, Southern Italy, it seems because most playgrounds really aren't that well kept, certainly not like the British playground, that the kids are used to but yeah it's a really nice playground that we go to regularly and meaner, they've got like a on those sort of, they go AP jungle walk things you know where they've got ropes and all sorts of obstacle courses tied between trees have been has been doing the child's one, a bunch of times and she's really good at it now and you meant to be, I think, eight and above have to do the more the next level up. But despite not quite being eight they didn't do it and they were like, I don't think you're gonna be able to do it though I think she smashed it Hello I was scared when it was like, you know, a lot of these walks were kind of 2030 feet up, so not not small, you know, and through the forest and stuff so she did that she loved it. She's really good at that. So I was very proud moment. So to celebrate we went to the bar they got a lovely bar there. Got her ice cream got me a beer that was great. I had a beer outside in a long time. And also nearly put me to sleep. So after that we went down to the port Ischia, sorry. The port is haunted. And there, I had ice cream. And I die out the window celebrated the week with an ice cream. And it was delicious. And then we came home, and did family movies so we started watching the second magnificent, which we got an hour into and then it's like cafe. Time for me Let's go to bed I think Leonardo's already asleep. And we're all really tied to the other half tomorrow. That has been the day it's been a day off. I'm toying with the idea. I have been toying with the idea for a few days of starting a daily video on maybe Instagram tv youtube, facebook, all of them not sure, call something along the lines of the daily noodle. And the idea behind it is very simply, it's me playing guitar. And that's it. Maybe I'm singing maybe I'm not, but it's improvisation it's just jamming about it sounds boring I know, but there's two reasons for it one, becau --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/theviewfromthecrowsnest/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/theviewfromthecrowsnest/support

Remember, I am a real doctor Eric is a real crna. We do do real medicine. But this show is not intended to diagnose or treat. Please, if you have any issues like rectal bleeding, go to our website, kbmdhealth.com. Download the E book, learn about it, but make sure that you talk to your doctor about it.Eric Rieger  All right, here we are. It is gut check project, Episode Number 28. I am here with your host, Dr. Ken Brown. What's up Doctor Brown. Ken Brown  What's going on Eric? Episode 28. Eric Rieger  Episode 28.Ken Brown  Lots of energy 2020. We're just wow. Eric Rieger  We're so close to 30, it's what, six more years. seven more years. We could run for president release the show.Ken Brown  It's so weird when I'm sitting there doing colonoscopy recalls. And I'm like, come back in 2030...gah! It's weird. Eric Rieger  Yeah, that's good news for those. Everybody. One unique thing. everybody complains about the prep. So if you if you have to have a colonoscopy and you're not looking forward to the prep, you are not alone. Nobody likes it.Ken Brown  You know what, there's a video that I have on my website, Kenneth Brown, MD. com. That's more for my my clinical practice, but I've got a video that can actually talk you through how to get through that prep and a few little bio hacks to do that. I've been through a couple preps myself. I've taken them all. So when patients are like, you have no idea I'm like, No, I do know. I do know, Eric Rieger  I'm fully aware. Ken Brown  Yeah, you can actually go on the website and see it or you can go to YouTube and see my bare bottom there for the world. Because I mean, the one thing that you and I do do we do... Eric Rieger  You just said, doo doo.  Ken Brown  Okay I did, yea you're right. I am a gastroeneterologist but the one thing that we do is we live it. I mean, we We will last week I was fasting. I did a five day fast.Eric Rieger  You did? And you did well.Ken Brown  I did. I I liked it man, that erexin erexin is a hormone that kicks in that creates energy. I became euphoric again. I was just chatty Cathy run around loving it. Eric Rieger  It's a wild thing to see play out the erexin. Having done it myself, it's it's when you're not expecting it especially.Ken Brown  Yeah, totally. And this time I kind of did sort of the fasting mimicking diet where I kept the calories down. It was almost exclusively just water. But I did cheat a little bit, but not cheating. I kept my calories down. I allowed myself to choose some celery once in a while. And if you look at valter Longo's  data when he talks about the fasting, mimicking diet, they allow you to have up to, you know, whatever 800 calories and you can still trick the body into fasting. What I really enjoyed was my family's getting more used to it so they weren't like I like I was a little irritable at some times and you know Loyda was cool with it. She understood. She's like, well, you're fasting. And, you know, so it was there and so the kids were kind of making fun of it. But when we sit there and look at it, and you realize that I'm trying to turn on some stem cells and all these other things, I really felt like I'm gonna make this a regular part every three months. I'm gonna try and do a five day fast. Sounds really daunting. But when you look at the data, if you get a chance, there's on amazon prime. If you're an Amazon Prime member, there's a documentary called fasting and they interview what I consider the fasting experts. They've got Jason Fung, they've got Sachin Panda. They've got Valter Longo and they all talk about the different types of fastings. And what you achieve with each oneEric Rieger  Yeah, no, I totally worth it. Very low cost. It's something you can do and there are tons of benefits. We probably should do a fasting reset episode, just specific to what we can find and then we've had nurses and different technicians that we've worked with who've decided to implement fasting as part of their own healthy regimen. who already seen lower blood pressure and different things like that? So it requires really no true investment. It just requires a little bit of discipline.Ken Brown  Yeah, and it's a it seems once and I remember what was the conference live it to lead it Conference. I was lecturing and I that that was the first conference where it was a fasting conference. And they purposely did not serve anythingUnknown Speaker  No.Ken Brown  We went all day.Eric Rieger  All day. Ken Brown  Everyone in that conference about 400 people. Eric Rieger  But you're all in it together.Ken Brown  Yeah. That that is Dr. Daniel Pompa. And he's the one that really kind of got me thinking about fasting. And he's, if you want to check him out, he's he's awesome. We know we know Angelo, his his. who's the CEO right now? Anyways, we're always doing business with these guys. They're amazing people. Dr. Dan Pompa. Check it out. I did his podcast and we and he is somebody that is extremely knowledgeable about fasting realizing that that turns on cellular health.Eric Rieger  Definitely. Well, let's do a quick reset so we can get down because we have actually quite a few topics to get to today. So episode number 28. It is the gut check project. I'm Eric Rieger here with your host, Dr. Kenneth Brown. As always, still sponsored by Atrantil, Atrantil chock full of pro anthocyanin, polyphenols, polyphenols, you don't have to have gut distress to benefit from Atrantil do you Dr. Brown? Ken Brown  You do not. We're learning a lot and I'm going to get into some literature today and get into some data explaining about how this is actually super important because what we're going to talk about is something that is affecting your health, and it is screwing all of us up. So if you are a human living on planet Earth... Eric Rieger  Most of us. Ken Brown  You need to listen to the rest of the show. I'm gonna geek out a lot this is gonna be some serious science, but it's super important because we got stuff going on in the world right now that is affecting you and I can tell you how the polyphenols actually help protect you against what I'm going to tell you about that's everywhere.Eric Rieger  Go to lovemytummy.com/kbmd lovemytummy.com/kbmd to learn more and get your own AtrantilKen Brown  Atrantil!Eric Rieger  And then also go and visit our brand new website it KBmdhealth, KBMdhealth.com. You can get your hands on Atrantil there as well as Dr. Brown's signature package which includes Atrantil as well as CBD. So why in the world would somebody want to combine Atrantil and CBD? Ken Brown  Well, that is a great question, Mr. Eric. And one of the reasons why we learned through the science was as I was developing Atrantil I started talking to a lot of different scientists and contrary to what people think there's tons of science on CBD cannabidiol tons of science on the endocannabinoid system. As it turns out the polyphenols in Atrantil, actually allow your body to produce and keep around more of your own.  endogenous endocannabinoids, meaning you produce your own CBD like molecules called anandaminde and 2-ag. And I know you're going to talk about that a little bit. We'll get to that. Yeah. But basically, you can like it's, it's a exponential growth of your own endocannabinoid system. I started looking into this because when we were first treating people for their gut health, I couldn't believe how many of my patients said, you know what I'm still taking Atrantil my gut feels better, but I just feel better. Everything's better. And then I had to start looking into it. I went, Oh my gosh, the polyphenols, the post biotics the microbiome, and the endocannabinoid system is just one big Venn diagram and they all interact with each other. Eric Rieger  They definitely do. Ken Brown  And we're going to talk about that a little bit later also.  Eric Rieger  We that's something once again, you alluded to it earlier, we actually work in a clinic and do procedures. We see people all of the time that take those things combined also with a healthy diet that just simply are feeling and living better, which is great. So kBmdhealth.com. You can find the store, you just pan down the page and the brand new website, which soon will have some repository for CBD information research, we're going to talk about Oh, here soon we will have the repository on rectal bleeding. So if you've ever worried about somebody who may have seen spotting in their underwear suddenly use the bathroom and look down and they saw a little bit of blood, we're going to try to help people stave off the panic and yet find good solutions and answers for them so they can stay healthy. Ken Brown  Yeah. So if you're wondering why in the world, we just did the right turn towards rectal bleeding as it turns out, that is the most search term that people get super worried about. Eric Rieger  Yeah, it is. And we get the most questions about rctal bleeding. Ken Brown  We get the most questions about that. So if you've ever if you have a family member, if you ever seen blood in the toilet, it's scary. And we're going to take that head on and I'm going to tell you how that you should not ignore it. Never ignore it but we put together a really cool ebook that's very informative. I think it's very entertaining, I'm very happy with with Drew Parker helping us out with the graphics on that he's a fantastic digital graphic designer, and I think it's going to help a lot of people and if I can just get a few people in to get checked out so that they don't worry. Much like we see with my colonoscopy video i get i get comments all the time, where people like thank you for doing that video. I went in and I had several large polyps. I never would have done it had it not seen that. That's the same thing. We're here to help everyone. I just want to see people get healthier. Everything that we talked about on the show is some way to augment your life. Sometimes it's gut health. Sometimes it's lighting discussions. Sometimes it's just whatever we think you and I learned something we're like, we're going to share this with the world.Eric Rieger  Yep, definitely. So be sure Stay tuned. We will definitely make an announcement. If you are not a member of the KBMD community already, just go to KBMDhealth.com pan all the way to the bottom, just give us your name. It'll allow us to have your email and then you'll be looped in as soon as we have the rectal bleeding stuff that you can share with anyone, and anyone coast to coast. If they need help they could use this information, it would help them out.Ken Brown  Yeah, and we're trying to grow this. We're getting some really good feedback. If you have any questions, if you want us to talk about anything, we have access to experts. That's what I ultimately want to do, if we're going to talk about so today's show, let's talk about the short term. Today's show, we're going to just kind of get caught up on a few things. And I really want to dive deep into this science about things that are hurting you that you can prevent one particular thing in the environment that I know that we can help people with. And then going forward. One of the exciting things that I want to do is I'm going to start bringing in some seriously geeky experts so that we can get to some of the science that's out there, that most people don't even understand that we have a community of PhDs surrounding us of the MD's surrounding us. And they're doing some crazy stuff, but they're not out there promoting it. They're not on Instagram or Facebook and other stuff. You gotta dig deep. You gotta bring them in. And oh my gosh, you'll learn so much. That's what we're gonna do in 2020 this thing is going to be a home for if you have a question, we're going to find the person to answer it.Eric Rieger  Yeah. And we're already starting to fill out that fill out that that schedule. So this this year should be quite exciting.Ken Brown  Yeah. And if, if we can't find an expert, and we don't know the answer, Eric is gonna make it up.Eric Rieger  Sounds so confident. that's a really good selling point. Let's get into it. This last weekend, I left I haven't even told you the story. I left the clinic headed home wanting to go and make the boys basketball games that were up in Wichita Falls. I got about 20 miles from home and suddenly, torrential rain going sideways hail. My phone goes off tornado warning. What in the world and it couldn't see couldn't see anything. And then finally it all passes everything's fine and to my knowledge no one was was hurt. There was some wind damage and a tornado spotted somewhere I didn't see it. But then the next morning Saturday, I wake up snow three and a half inches everywhere Ken Brown  But it was like 70 degrees when that tornado was happening. Eric Rieger  No Joke.Ken Brown  And the very next morning, it snowed. Eric Rieger  It was 24 degrees. The very next morning beautiful too. I mean, it was snowed very, very hard. And then by the time the afternoon came all melted, pretty much gone. I mean, that's amazing. Living in North Texas, especially. You just experienced a lots of different fluctuations in weather. There's no health story here. But it is kind of a treat sometimes you just kind of see everything. Ken Brown  It is I watched last night as a family we watched because Rafa Nadal was on 60 minutes. They were interviewing obviously, we always talk about tennis and we'll get into the whole family thing but Rafa was on so the family wanted to watch the 30 minutes and I remember I used to watch 60 minutes with my dad growing up. Eric Rieger  Yeah me too!Ken Brown  Yeah. And I actually really enjoyed that. I didn't A lot of it I didn't understand. It was political and stuff like that. But I'd be like, 10 years old watching 60 minutes. So last night we were watching and they were looking at Florence, Italy. The canals. Dude. Up a lot. I mean, come on. We this weird climate change. We got Australia on fire. We got this going on. And they're there they're having hundred year floods, like every month. Eric Rieger  Yeah, they're not hundred years anymore. Ken Brown  No.Eric Rieger  yeah, it's pretty wild. Ken Brown  It's crazy.Eric Rieger  I can't remember who it was. It said that they were there before the the water started. And like as they were leaving. And someone told me I thought it was some of you and I knew I've already forgotten. But anyhow, yeah, they were there and the last day of this day was was the first day that the water began to creep in towards the hotel. So that wasn't that long ago. But really interesting. Ken Brown  It's It's crazy. I just saw an article today, where if we actually tend to have this, this climate change continues in this this pathway. Where now people are pretty much open to it now. Now we realized that okay, things are happening, the level of violence. So some epidemiologists were looking at if with each degree of worldwide raise in temperature, violence goes up and due to a lot of different reasons, and they had all these different reasons as to how that happens. But basically, we can become a more violent society with global warming. It's crazy. Eric Rieger  Wow. Ken Brown  I know. It's nuts.Eric Rieger  Man, I don't even know how to answer that. That's wildKen Brown  I don't even want to get into it. Because I just kind of looked at that. And I said, I'm already a little bit scared of where we're headed. I don't need to know that all of a sudden, we're going to become more violent due to it. That's like the last thing that I neededEric Rieger  No, no. Yeah.Ken Brown  I generally chill out when it gets warm. I like to you know, I mean, I like the heat. I sauna all the time so. Eric Rieger  Yeah, we'll usually see people on the beach and their just laying down. I don't know. I'm not really getting it. Ken Brown  This article described how we're just going to go around and violence will increase so...Eric Rieger  Yeah it's unfortunate Well, do you have anything you want to hit on quick before we Oh, I've thought of something else but I'll go ahead and let you go first.Ken Brown  Well, I was just gonna give a quick update with the family. Because this never happens in my house. We were all here. We did a whole lot of nothing. We... Eric Rieger  Did y'all all know each other? Ken Brown  We did. Eric Rieger  That's good. Ken Brown  Yeah.  So the the kids at the last time that they're at they had one of those big giant Connect fours and so they ended up playing like the boys would play these are like, like the nation's best tennis players at that age and they're all were gathered around to connect for like an old school Connect Four that was like, like five feet tall. Eric Rieger  That's awesome. I love Connect Four.Ken Brown  So I ended up playing the kids a lot. In Connect Four on the on the computer. We ate out we found some new ramen places, and we chilled I slept 10 and a half hours last night.Eric Rieger  That's not bad. Ken Brown  I loved it.  Heck, yeah. That's my weekend. How about you? Unknown Speaker  All weekend boys had basketballs out is that talked about earlier Saturday night. I'm just getting older friend of mine, his daughter who I remember when she was really young. She got married. Really cool. Yeah. Whole family went and it was, it was a lot of fun. So shout out to Savannah and Rex. Just a great gathering of some folks, these these were really close friends of ours that he was transferred to Japan. And so he'd been there and I hadn't seen him since he been transferred there and his daughter gets married. And my brother was there my brother's close to this family also and it was it was a lot of fun. Ken Brown  That's awesome. Unknown Speaker  Yeah, yeah, it's really cool. Ken Brown  You love seeing it maintaining friendships and relationships that far that you're seeing your your friends kids...Ken Brown  And he just got transferred again. You know where to? Aww poor guy...Hawaii.Eric Rieger  No awful for him. He and his wife are just hating it.Ken Brown  Yeah. I finished the book Traction by Gina Whitman. Eric Rieger  Yes. Nice.Ken Brown  I took notes. I think I even sent you a copy. My notes are 28 pages.Eric Rieger  You did. I'm behind you and I can't say that I know what all of your notes mean. But I think that they'll be good cliffs for someone who's gonna read it.Ken Brown  What I love is every one of these people that in our entrepreneurial group baby bathwater every time I say Traction, they've all read it. They're like, absolutely necessary. So if you're a small business owner, try out the book Traction, the most updated one. Eric Rieger  Sure, definitely, yeah. Ken Brown  What were you gonna say? Eric Rieger  So, I told you that I wanted to talk about 2-ag just briefly, but the reason is, and I, I can't remember exactly what study was, but that's not what's important. What's important is they were breaking down. Why do people smoke cigarettes whenever they become anxious? Ken Brown  Cigarettes or marijuana? Eric Rieger  Or was the marijuana?Ken Brown  Marijuana I think. Yeah, because they're looking at the endocannabinoid system. Eric Rieger  Marijuana cigarettes is what I meant to say. But that's what that's what they're talking about. But anyway, regardless, they're smoking marijuana, and why would they do that if they become anxious, and it has more to do with the increased production of 2-ag than what they had realized. It's not the only thing. It's just that they noticed that you increase your endogenous 2-ag and of course, if you're just tuning in anandamide and 2-ag are the probably the most prevalent endogenous cannabinoid we have. Ken Brown  Certainly the most studied. Yeah so we make our own endocannabinoids and they're called anandamide and 2-ag. 2-ag stands for 2-Arachidonoylglycerol acid so 2-ag is easier. Eric Rieger  Correct. It is that's why that's all that I ever say but I just want to pointed it out to you right before we started you said yes I think I saw the same thing. So what are your thoughts on that?Ken Brown  Well, I just think it's so interesting because we always meet all these people are like, oh, there's no science on CBD. Oh, there's no whatever, no people we have an endocannabinoid system. We have been neglecting our endocannabinoid system and the articles that I'm going to bring up later probably show why in our endocannabinoid system we're deficient. So what this article looked at, is the fact that people are self treating. Now we know the molecule that goes up, that helps them deal with their anxiety. You know, it isn't like a it isn't like, oh, you're just running away from your problems? No, you're balancing yourself out by doing that. Eric Rieger  Yeah, another interesting part though I thought about that particular article that I was reading there was referencing the study is that it was almost as if they were talking about 2-ag as just a substance, and then later talked about it as that it is it is an endogenous cannabinoid. But it, they presented it as if it was a newfound compound. And just just because of what we do, and I didn't really take it that way. I was like, well, you're kind of behind the curve. This isKen Brown  Isn't that funny? Eric Rieger  It's been a long time! Ken Brown  Yeah. Because Yeah, I actually didn't read the article you called and told me about that. I'm like, that's funny, because they're acting like they discovered something. We've been talking 2-ag and anandamide for years now.Eric Rieger  Right, right. Maybe Maybe it's just the way I interpret it. But that's the way it felt it felt like that they're talking like it's something new that they were trying to show correlation of this, this increase of this mysterious 2-ag and in truth, I felt like it was really just kind of establishing the importance of a healthy endocannabinoid system, which is really what I felt was my takeaways like hey, look, this is just yet more proof on why a healthy ECS is a great balance for somebody who is suffering from anxiety or, or something like that. You want to get that in in you want you want to keep your ECS healthy.Ken Brown  Yeah so the endocannabinoid system what's interesting is that I'm I'd be curious to see if they did the exact same study with just pure CBD cannabidiol maybe you don't even have to smoke the marijuana cigarette as you say. And you just take CBD and then your body will adapt to that as well. Whenever people say oh, I take CBD and it helps with XYZ Well, one of the things is, I mean, we got a lot going on and I looking back in my life I've always run very anxious. Well, ever since I started doing the KBMD, health CBD, my anxiety 100% has been much more manageable, much more in balanced and I realized that Oh, that's probably one of those things as I'm running around anxious, my 2-ag is down possibly my ananadamide is down. All this is allowing me to do is just get back to my baseline.Eric Rieger  Yeah, no, I agree. That it's something I didn't, I wasn't able to ascertain. Excuse me. You said I wonder if CBD could do that more than likely so and I was also kind of curious is what the mix was, you know because there's different strains out there for marijuana. And so I didn't I didn't know what they were referencing I highly doubt that it was probably one of those super efficient high level Maui Wowie things that everybody's clamoring for when they go out of a state that doesn't allow it to go and buy I really think that probably really like anything the more natural that something were to exist is probably where they're getting the benefit from but I don't know they didn't really...Ken Brown  Isn't it so fascinating we just lump everything together. That's like saying hey, Eric, tea is Good for you. Eric Rieger  What kind of tea? Ken Brown  Exactly? So are you gonna take Elong which is going to have different black teas in it? Are you going to take chamomile which is going to calm you down.Eric Rieger  Is lipton light green? Ken Brown  Exactly. Eric Rieger  It's not.Ken Brown  It's you know, are we are you going to put a little packets of peak tea? Which our good friends peak tea, which They have polyphenols in there also and they promote that a lot. So I don't know why we discuss the marijuana plant like that because it could be that varied just like tea leaves. It could be so varied the cannabis plant and when we start lumping things together we just become ignorant to the whole process. If I say that to you will put you to sleep and you do a good solid green tea and you're up for hours. You're like, Well, that didn't work. I'm like no, no, that's not all tea puts you to sleep certain teas. Well, certain THC CBD combinations do certain things. Eric Rieger  Definitely. Someone said I like apples. They may be a Washington Apple could a granny smith apple. It could be a Fuji. On and on and on. There's just a bunch of different apples.Ken Brown  Now. Let's be I mean, let's let everybody know. I mean, you did your thesis on apples. I mean, I think it's I think you've been waiting forever. to unleash your knowledge of apples on everybody.Eric Rieger  I can't wait until we dig into apples. Granny Smith for the win. Or honey crisp, those are great.Ken Brown  You're just gonna give everybody all riled up? Let's move on politics and apples we don't talk about man. Eric Rieger  Now we don't. Ken Brown  You know, last week we talked about cell phones. Eric Rieger  Yeah. Ken Brown  We talked about people using cell phones while they're on the toilet.Eric Rieger  We did we social toilets. Ken Brown  Social toilets, how social is your toilet? Well, I just saw an article that just came out where a recent study looked at how people that take selfies, so they did a cohort study where they looked at people and they had them self evaluate. So it isn't like a randomized placebo controlled trial, but it is kind of very interesting, because we were talking last week about how people will post Instagram pictures and things like that. This study was really interesting, only in the sense that it makes that it's like, oh, duh. Because we always talk about how social media can actually lead to anxiety and depression. This study looked specifically At instagramers and selfies, and what they did is they interviewed It was 164 female students at a public college in the southeastern United States. And what they did is they surveyed a photo manipulation and selfie tapes. And what they realized is that these women were having this body surveillance issue where they wanted to have the best picture the best selfie that they put up there. And most of the participants reported taking between two to five selfies before publishing the one, many of them or I shouldn't say many, but a large proportion that actually had depression would take up to 20 pictures before posting the one. And there's so many filters that you can do now you can take out blemishes, you can augment certain body parts, you can do different things. And what they showed is those who took more selfies or manipulated he pictures had significantly higher levels of depression and anxiety. Eric Rieger  It's not that...Ken Brown  Isn't that interesting? Eric Rieger  It's interesting. But is it really that surprising? Ken Brown  Well, that's the thing. It's not that surprising. And when you sit there and look at this, and when people go, oh my gosh, she's so beautiful. Oh, she's got all these likes or whatever. The reality is, you can't run from yourself. There's a certain disingenuous portion of you that knows you kind of manipulated it.Eric Rieger  Yeah. Without question. And here's a, just a quick side caveat here. Remember, before we had the digital availability of photos, and we just had film, there wasn't the instant gratification of going over and making certain that the picture that was just taken was perfect. You just took it. And then you went to the photo mat at some point. And then it was exciting to go and get the envelope with the pictures and you could thumb through them. And you always wanted it before the girl who might also be in the pictures because she's gonna discard the ones that she doesn't like. Remember that? I mean like you would say, let's go get the pictures. Oh, I'll go with you. And then she grabs them and I can remember, you know, people grabbing the photos like, oh, and then keep that one. What is that? Oh, you don't wanna see that? That's the old way of discarding photos that you didn't want seen. So now you can take them without with it doesn't matter. Does it cost anything take more pictures. So interesting that technologies actually probably lent itself as a as a tool for someone who may have anxiety or depression to kind of make the situation worse. Ken Brown  I mean, I challenge everybodythat if you're gonna post a selfie, Eric Rieger  just do it. Ken Brown  Just do it. Make it real. Do the funny face everything because we spent so much time trying to show this curated life that I have. I want you to believe that my life is this. I mean, one of the fun things about doing this show is we don't edit anything. Eric Rieger  No! Ken Brown  It just happens. Eric Rieger  I just said cigarettes and I meant marijuana. So yeah, no, he did that. But that's not really I promise you, your friends like you. And if you're listening this your friends like you because you're you not because you, you practice or rehearsed a line before you saw them, they just want to hang out with you. I mean, and you should be, you should be confident that that's what people are after.Ken Brown  So this, this particular study essentially just showed that even though so here's what's happening. You have people that are taking multiple selfies, they're trying to find the perfect one. When they post it, then all they do is wait for that dopamine rush of a like, of a like of a like, and then if this one doesn't get as many likes as the other one, then what do I do? Do I go back and do this? The bottom line is we want to be part of a community. We know that deep down when you want that like it's because you want to connect with somebody. Unfortunately, when we have these social media platforms, it really waters it down so that you feel that you get a little dopamine release but you don't get the serotonin which is your true happiness molecule. Dopamine is your pleasure molecule. So you cannot have both going on serotonin and dopamine, because that's how come the whole rock star phenomenon you keep chasing that dopamine high. So what I want to offer to everybody here is take a selfie, don't put a filter on it, send it to us. Connect with us at KBMDhealth on Instagram or on Facebook with a gut check project.Eric Rieger  Gut Check Poject on Facebook Ken Brown  Because I can tell you right now that if you are lonely and you are not connecting with people on a one to one level, it has been proven to be as dangerous as smoking. Smoking the cigarettes. Like you were saying earlier.Eric Rieger  Yeah, I got things inverted there. Ken Brown  The cigarettes...So it's I just find it so fascinating that we have this so you just got done telling me a story about how people smoke or they they seek out marijuana and Now we realized that there is an Endocannabinoid that they're trying to compensate with with 2-ag. Well, dude, any type of stress like that any type of thing. So now we know that by doing selfies, and waiting for that dopamine kick, you're creating anxiety and depression, probably related to a depletion of 2-ag as well.Eric Rieger  Interesting. It really is. I don't, I wonder, I wonder what could be done for somebody to kind of wean themselves of, of hunting for the the digital likes, I really just ignore social media for the most part, certainly on a personal level, I don't find it rewarding. In some instances, it's kind of depressing. I like going to social media when I feel like I want to catch up with someone or that honestly, we need to find a new way to to make sure that our audience or our patients is are getting the right information for Atrantil etc. But I don't, I don't look for it to give me any type of gratification and but I think that I'm maybe the anomaly for someone who's connected like that there's maybe even my kids who don't necessarily maintain their Instagram. I know that they keep up with their friends on it. And they see pictures, and people share them. So how would you wean yourself from that kind of that kind of environmen if you already didn't have the biological systems in place to help you do that?Ken Brown  Dude, that is a great question. I'm not much of a social media person. So I'm not really down with that. We're gonna find a psychiatrist or a psychologist that specializes in this. There's that great YouTube video, where I told you, you made your kids watch it. I made my kids watch it, where it's a Harvard psychologist discussing the fact that when we give kids phones and they get into social media that that dopamine release...When somebody has a hard time at school, your seventh grader has a hard time at school. They come home And they're upset about something and then you let them have their phone. That is exactly like giving them the keys to the liquor cabinet. You had a tough day. Why don't you go cope with it by having a few vodka sodas or whatever. And we think that's crazy. But we don't think anything of let your kid go to the room, sit on their phone and go into a spiral, because they're not part of the Snapchat group that that they were excluded from because X, Y and Z. It's, it's really from a parenting standpoint, it's really hard to sit there and walk that fine line between I don't want my children to be the weird kids that don't have any social media involvement. But I don't want to allow that giving them the keys to the liquor cabinet, where they're just trying to supplement their dopamine kicks with how many likes they have because there's a lot of science going on with this.Eric Rieger  Yea and true confession I think that we screwed up its parents that I'm talking about me and my wife. Well, we, we gave the phone the phone breached in probably far too early. I mean, that's just that's just the truth. We've done a good job of monitoring how well I say we're doing a good job. Maybe they'll maybe they'll hear this and they'll laugh. Ken Brown  I don't think you guys. I don't think he has waited too long when I saw gages...His,you know I went to his one year birthday party and you gave him the iPhone 2. That's not early! Eric Rieger  He's not quite that young but yeah. But, I mean, looking back, I wish that we had had held off longer than we did. I don't think that we did anybody any favors by doing that. Heck, I wish I had never gotten into a smartphone. It's almost like a weird codependency issue now, like, I want to get to the point where I can just go back to a flip phone and no phone at all. But...Ken Brown  There's always Yeah,Eric Rieger  Like most I mean, I don't think that I'm alone. I mean, I know I'm not because we see it every day with the patients just before we take him back to let them go to sleep. They want to they want Want to take that last time before they go to sleep? And before they stow their phone? That's it's very common every single day.Ken Brown  But we're just keep seeing new and new data like this particular study. Everybody else that looks at those pictures probably goes Oh, she's so pretty, she's got an amazing thing. Eric Rieger  And the person who's in it probably hates the picture Ken Brown  And the person who's in it is just critiquing themselves and they're becoming and having more anxiety and depression.Eric Rieger  Oh, yeah, it's and it's it's, it's unfortunate. It's not fair.Ken Brown  I had a remember our guest with short path wealth. Tim Tim power. He he posted something where it was like the next time you're having a bad day. Remember this is going on. And it was a picture of 250 Amish men carrying a barnEric Rieger  Yeah. Yeah,Ken Brown  I'm like there's easier ways to move that barn. But that's cool. Eric Rieger  There are and they're not doing it, but they're probably not nearly susceptible to depression.Ken Brown  I looked at that and I was like, that's community. That's coming together that's busting your ass that's getting out there. There's a certain amount of okay. Yeah, there's easier ways to do it. But okay. Eric Rieger  The initial reaction is to laugh. The truth is they're probably pretty happy. You know, isn't that wild, but it's just true.Ken Brown  Yeah. I thought that was interesting.Eric Rieger  Yeah, it is. It is interesting. So what else you got?Ken Brown  Nothin? Um, we can get into a few things. You got water?Eric Rieger  I'm having a little austin texas Waterloo, Ken Brown  Ah a little Waterloo. Would you like to sip from it from this cool, straw.Eric Rieger  I mean, I traditionally don't use...Ken Brown  No don't do that at all, because that's what we're going to get into right now. Eric Rieger  That is rude as hell.Ken Brown  That almost killed you. Eric Rieger  I did not know that. Ken Brown  Ah, well, let me tell you what. So we uh, we have the distinct advantage of course we have our little our secret weapon.Eric Rieger  If you're just listening. He just offered me a straw and threw it across the room just so you know.Ken Brown  Well, here's why. So You know, we have our, our amazing graduate student that always helps us out. She sent me some incredible articles. Two of them came together. It's super geeky, hang in there with me, please. I'm going to get into what's gonna sound like a lot of crazy words, but this will blow your mind. I cannot believe and she sent the email. She's like, this will blow your mind. I cannot believe that. We have not talked about this yet. And I'm like, okay, two articles recently published that holy cow Hang in there, because it's gonna sound like, well, pretty much you're screwed. But I'm going to give you a solution at the variant.Eric Rieger  I can't wait. Ken Brown  All right.Eric Rieger  Yeah. Ken Brown  And probably most relevant for you, Mr. Eric, Mr. crna. I'm telling you, you probably need to hear this more than anybody more than anybody, anybody more than anybody. More than anybody more than anybody.Unknown Speaker  I'm all ears now. Ken Brown  All right. So, all right now we're getting into some serious science. You know, I love to geek out about this stuff, and hopefully I'll be able to hopefully I interpret it well enough. And hopefully we'll be able to make some sense of this. But what we're going to talk about is a recent review on the toxic effects of Di-2-ethylhexyl phthalate.Eric Rieger  Yeah, that usually doesn't come up very often.Ken Brown  Or DEHP. Which From now on I will refer to as DEHP. As inJohnny Depp, but it's DEHP, so before you sit there and go, Oh, I've never you know, this doesn't pertain to me. Oh It really does because as it turns out, DEHP DEHP is the most common member of phthalates. Now, phthalates are mainly used as plasticizers. Eric Rieger  Here we go. Ken Brown  There's substances added to Plastic, specifically PVC to increase the flexibility so that death straw that I just tried to offer you filled with DEHP. Okay, what it does is it softens the PVC so that anything is flexible. Eric Rieger  Okay. Ken Brown  So you start thinking well, like due to the ubiquity of plastics everywhere. The majority of people are exposed to some level of phthalates. For example, the CDC actually took a large cohort of people, and they looked for the metabolites of ballots, and everyone had them in their urine. Eric Rieger  I'm sure. I'm sure they do. Ken Brown  It's almost unavoidable over 2 million tons of this stuff is is produced worldwide. And I don't know why. I don't know how we've not discussed this already. Why this has not been talked about. Do you know anything about this? Eric Rieger  No, I don't know anything about specifically this particular compound. What I'm really thinking about right now is the abundance or ubiquity of all of the plastics that are are flexible now I mean, I'm just thinking if we're going to panic, your water is certainly in a modern home is is usually channeled by PVC. And that would be I mean, it's...Ken Brown  well as long as it's PVC until it becomes flexible. You're not getting DEHP.Eric Rieger   Okay...Ken Brown  But this is why it's really relevant to you. Eric Rieger  Oh okay? Ken Brown  And to me but more to you. Eric Rieger  All right...Ken Brown  Guess what? Tt's especially used in medical devices.Eric Rieger  Oo like endotracheal tubes? Ken Brown  Oh way more than that endotracheal tubes, IV bags. Yeah, keep going. You're getting it.Eric Rieger  Goodness gracious IV tubing IV bags, you could the catheters that we start the IV. Man, the anything that would do seldinger technique with is going to utilize that right?Ken Brown  100% Eric Rieger  Holy crap.Ken Brown  Holy crap. It's everywhere in the medical industry. Eric Rieger  Probably the non latex gloves that we have to substitute for people who have latex allergies.Ken Brown  All of a sudden you start looking this you're like, whoa, wait a minute...Eric Rieger  Nasal canulas! Ken Brown  Nasal canulas. There you go peritoneal catheters, you name it, you know, typical catheters, urinary catheters, anything, because everything we use on humans has to be flexible. It has to be able to be malleable and stuff. So as it turns out, you and I are exposed to tons of this.Eric Rieger  Yeah, every single day, every single patientKen Brown  You more than me, Eric Rieger  Yea probably so.Ken Brown  And then we're sitting there doing this with a patient. So.Eric Rieger  Interesting. Ken Brown  Yeah. But you know, what, if everybody's listening, and they're just like, well, I don't work in the medical industry. Too bad as it turns out, packaged foods, those bags that are flexible, so it's not a stif little thing. packaged foods, it's in packaged foods, it's in mattresses. It's in cosmetics, personal care products, high concentrations in fatty meats, and even bread. Eric Rieger  Why is that? Ken Brown  It's just it gets concentrated in fatty environments. And so when they when they had the plastic bags around the bread, the bread soaks it up. Now we're eating it. Eric Rieger  Hmm. Ken Brown  So when we take in this DEHP, the only thing cool about it is that it gets converted into something that I'm going to start using as my stage name from now on, it gets converted into Di-n-octyl phthalate otherwise known as DNOP.Eric Rieger  DNOP.Ken Brown  DNOP now, DJ DNOP coming on.Eric Rieger  Here on the Gut Check Project here's your host DNOP.Ken Brown  Yeah. So why do you care about DNOP? DNOP coming on! Well, as it turns out, look at what this little molecule actually does to our bodies.Eric Rieger  Uh oh.Ken Brown  Uh oh is right. I mean, when I was when I was reading this, I'm just like, What in the world? We are, and this is a worldwide thing. This is not US. This is not race dependent. This is not anything. Now. I'm going to spend little time here and I'm just gonna tell you what, well, I'm scared for you because you're around IV catheters, you do this all the time.  Eric Rieger  A lot yeah.Ken Brown  Yea. All right, DHEP. It's best known as an endocrine disrupter. What's the name of the mindshare? Jolene? Eric Rieger  Oh Jolene Brighton? Ken Brown  Yeah. And then yeah, so anyway, so that yet, I'm sure that she's probably going, duh, we know about this. This is one of those things where you're just like, I guess the bandwidth is only so big, but we can get. I bet you a lot of functional medicine doctors are just like going, Oh, my gosh, we've been talking about this forever. So all right. It's an endocrine disrupter, what that means is it will alter the function of the endocrine system exposure in utero. So this is what's really crazy. If you're pregnant, and you expose your fetus to this, it does tremendous things. One of the things that it's that it does is it actually decreases testosterone production and messes with the estrogen cycle. In fact, they have studies that have shown that exposure in utero leads to lifelong testosterone issues. They have taken adult rats, and they looked at them when they were exposed in utero. And they have shown that their testosterone is markedly lower, just from one exposure in utero, for their whole life. Eric Rieger  I wonder if it blunts like teste development and that's probably why interesting.Eric Rieger  Interesting. Ken Brown  They have all kinds of different reasons why like this, these articles are super sciencey. And they get into the molecular mechanism of it all. And I'll get into a little bit more about this, but I'm going to show you this thing is going to blow your mind because what they did is they they looked at this and they showed persistent low testosterone in adult rats studies. Now rats fed a diet with DEHP also have serious lifelong thyroid issues. So the theory on this is it's an epigenetic phenomenon. So in other words, if you expose a fetus in utero to DEHP, which is everywhere, then it can turn on an epigenetic phenomenon, meaning that there are certain genes that get turned on. And then that becomes the new norm. That's how come they proved that you can sit there and have low testosterone for the rest of your life. That's how come you can end up with thyroid issues when you become older, because that transcription of the genes has been turned on. Ken Brown  You need to that's the epigenetic phenomena. Epigenetics means that you have genes you're predisposed but then if you have an environmental factor that comes in, then that actually turns that gene on. Well, as it turns out, DHEP does this to people significantly in utero. So they looked at elderly people and it suggests that insulin resistance is actually due to DEHP or DEHP sorry, so insulin resistance so diabetes. Chinese studies have looked at children and their BMI goes way up when they have higher levels of this metabolite in their urine. There's all kinds of studies on this where it's like, oh my gosh, you mean the incidence of diabetes incidence of thyroid, the incidence of hormonal issues is going up? So that's one example, endocrine disrupter. So I thought about this when I read this. I thought about you when I read this. Eric Rieger  Okay. Ken Brown  What you think would happen if I give homage to do you remember the article we did about liver failure?Eric Rieger  I do remember gavaging CBD Yes,Ken Brown  Go back to our episode 26, go to Episode 26. And we talked about garaging which means that you're going to stick a tube down a mouse and put in copious amounts of... Eric Rieger  The title was CBD causes liver failure,Ken Brown  So they gavaged some poor rats. And can you guess what happened to them?Eric Rieger  With that?Ken Brown  Yeah, with with basically DEHP. DEHP I'm I'm just going to call it DEHP from now on. Eric Rieger  Well, I think that if you're going to gavage DEHP and since nothing is sounded like it with the favorable I would imagine they exploded that they turned into robots, but maybe not as bad. Ken Brown  No, it's worse. Eric Rieger  Oh, okay.Ken Brown  It's worse. What it did. Cause testicular atrophy just shrunk their testicles. Eric Rieger  Wow.Ken Brown  Basically made them not men. So I was. I mean, you and I've talked about this, but if you ever end up in a situation where your testicles are too big.Eric Rieger  Oh yeah. Ken Brown  And I find you chewing on some IV tubing, I'll know why. Eric Rieger  You'll know why Yeah. Ken Brown  I'll know why. Because you're trying to control the size. Eric Rieger  You don't want them too big. It's craziness. Ken Brown  You just sit there nawing on some IV tubes.Eric Rieger  Yeah, yeah, it's gonna get some some space in the pants.Ken Brown  I mean, think about that you they can actually show that it causes such a disruption in the testosterone pathway and the hormonal access pathway that you will actually end up with testicular atrophy. You will not have testicles.Eric Rieger  What's interesting is I'm curious how, how prevalent is it beyond the those of us in the healthcare environment for people to be exposed to DEHP Ken Brown  So glad that you asked that. We're going to go through and now we're going to talk about so so far I've kind of focused on the thing that that concern me Sure. testosterone and you know, the Eric Rieger  Work environment? Ken Brown  Yeah, work environment. But it also looks like it. It does all kinds of stuff. It'll mess with ovaries. This is really interesting. It seems to increase endometriosis.Eric Rieger  Oh, wow. Ken Brown  Yeah.Eric Rieger  That's terrible.Ken Brown  So I see a lot of patients that have a ton of pain. And they did a study where they looked at Indian women and that had endometriosis. And they checked their DEHP metabolites significantly higher than their non endometriosis counterparts. Eric Rieger  Goodness gracious. Ken Brown  Yeah. And it appears that the reason why that happens is due to our old friend oxidative stress.Eric Rieger  Wow,Ken Brown  Just park that one and let's Let's come back to that for a moment. Eric Rieger  Okay. Ken Brown  So it's due to oxidative oxidative stress. Oh, this is this is really fun. This is neat. So as it turns out, it's nephrotoxic.Eric Rieger  None of this sounds good. Ken Brown  It's Nephrotoxic. Eric Rieger  That's bad for your kidneys.Ken Brown  Holy cow. Now they decided to look at dialysis patients. Guess who gets exposed to all Kinds of medical tubing? Eric Rieger  I mean, they're getting they're getting new tubing every time they go in.Eric Rieger  Every single time and most dialysis patients are three times a week for four plus hours each visit.Ken Brown  How did I not hear this? They've looked at this. dialysis patients have some of the highest DEHP levels metabolites. Ken Brown  Think of that dialysis setup and all of the tubings that go into the cartridge. Remember the cartridge that goes on there with the new membrane, all of the flexible tubing that's on there. Ken Brown  It's crazy my dad did peritoneal dialysis and I mean my gosh, it's it's tubing that's in there. You're bathing yourself in this And I'm just telling you that it can already mess with your endocrine system, it can already be nephrotoxic. So if you had any chance of recovering your kidneys, then you're just you're stacking the deck against yourself. Eric Rieger  Okay? And maybe we'll get to solution here in a moment. But at the moment, I'm curious, what are the alternatives outside of what we're doing now, I guess.Ken Brown  We will get there. Okay. And that's something that we're going to do. We're going to develop the KBMD bubble to be like the bubble boy. Yeah, we're gonna we're gonna launch that. We're not gonna do that. We're gonna we're gonna get into all those. All right, but let me if you're not already scared enough. Yeah. And you're just going, Okay, well, you know what? Screw that. I don't really care about my testosterone. I don't care about endometriosis. I'm not on dialysis. Not a big deal. Well, there's one thing that we all have. There's one thing that you and I talk about all the time, the gut brain access. Yeah. So as it turns out, we all have a gut brain. Yep, your brain takes a hit Also. Eric Rieger  I'm sure. Ken Brown  Your brain takes a hit also, essentially If it's exposed now I'm going to keep saying the same thing over and over. The younger you are when you're exposed, the more damage it does. And I'm going to get to this because spoiler alert autism. We're going to get to that a little bit. But so your brain takes a hit. Also, it can disrupt the normal fetal brain development, it appears to mess with the hippocampus. So the hippocampus is the area of the brain that's super important for memory and spatial recognition. Very important. And it's, it's for the spatial navigation. So if you can get through the fetal exposure of it, then throughout your life, the more exposure you have to it, so in other words, the more flexible plastics you're exposed to it does something really interesting. It decreases your BDNF. Eric Rieger  Oh, no. Ken Brown  Yes. Do you remember what BDNF is? Eric Rieger  The brain...goodness gracious I don't remember exactly what it stands for but it's exactly but that's exactly what we talked about for brain plasticity. Ken Brown  Correct. Eric Rieger  Yeah. Ken Brown  Its brain derived neurotrophic factor. That's right. Eric Rieger  Sorry about that. Ken Brown  No, it's but you and I have we've always talked about this because remember when we heard David Perlmutter give a talk at Helio Fx?Eric Rieger  That's exactly who I was thinking about.Ken Brown  He was talking about how coffee fruit had a very small study where it showed it increased BDNF. Well, as it turns out, BDNF can be increased by a lot of different polyphenols. BDNF is the protein in your brain that allows new neural connections. Eric Rieger  Yeah, all the DEHP I've been exposed to made me forget what BDNF actually stood for.Ken Brown  And we also believe that one of the reasons why there's a lot of dementia is because we lose our BDNF and we do not grow new cells, right. So as it turns out, BDNF decreases. Oh, it appears that it decreases because of reactive oxygen species developing in the brain leading to oxidative stress.Eric Rieger  So it sounds to me like what DEHP is if I'm connecting the dots here is going to be catalysts for oxidative stress. And so what we're going to need to do is if we can't eliminate DEHP from our environment, what can we do to mitigate the oxidative stress? Correct? Ken Brown  Correct. We're going to get to that. All right. Yeah, you're you. You've already you've already made the links. So if you're, if you're still listening, and you want to learn how to do that, what Eric just described is exactly what I want to tell you how we're going to do that. We talked about depression and anxiety. They looked at a study, I mean, I just cannot believe how much data is on this stuff. They looked at a study at pubertal females they did some mouse models and then they correlated it with some human studies as it turns out, the more DEHP DEHP that you're exposed to you have more anxiety and depression.Eric Rieger  Golly Man, what a it's a large manifest of a bunch of different things. And I don't know that you can escape flexible plastics. We just you just said if PVC were flexible, then maybe would have it actually was reminded, as I thought about that in our last home. When we, when they ran the cold and hot when we built the home, they ran flexible tubing on off of a big spool blue for cold and red for hot because they don't run pipe through foundations the same way anymore. No down here in Texas. Ken Brown  oh, because it shifts.Eric Rieger  Yeah, it can shift Ken Brown  it can bust yeah Eric Rieger  So many times they run it overhead through, you know, the whatever they call it the attic or whatever. But essentially, that's flexible plastic. And if you're drinking water from home, it's going to I would imagine it's leaching in there, correct? That's how it's happening.Ken Brown  Well, once again, the CDC looked at people and almost everybody has the metabolites in the urine. It is and it's not it's worldwide. Um, alright, so we'll finish up with I mean, clearly it's already scary, right. So... Eric Rieger  Yeah, definitely. Ken Brown  There's also the article goes on to a molecular reasons why how it messes with the liver and it messes with the heart. And, oh, it's linked to autism. The autism and they Kind of briefly talked about it in this article and fortunately, our graduate student knew that I'd be more interested. So she sent me a follow up article recently published even, I mean, these things are all being published like a week ago, like we get them in, like pre transcript. She's amazing. And so she sent me another article that actually talked about this specific thing. But now it's right in our wheelhouse, right in our wheelhouse. So don't be scared. Because now we know that we have this ubiquitous plasticizer that clearly is very toxic. We know it's toxic, we know what's there. And it's used in healthcare all over the place.Eric Rieger  Everywhere. Ken Brown  So right now there is a movement currently going to try and get rid of this, we know that it's bad. So over the past 10 years, people have been trying to do this, but since it's everywhere, it's gonna take some time to get out of there. And it's sad because as you know, sometimes medicine is not the fastest to change for some of this stuff, because of contracts and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. So we're always trying to find so right now there is this movement to try and use PVC free alternative polymers like polyethylene. So there's hope we're moving away from it. So when you said, Well, what, what can we do, but while we're here, I'm going to try and help you out with this. So I wanted to dig deeper in this because we know that autism is such a hot topic. If you're a parent with a child with the autism spectrum disorder, ASD, then you'll do anything to try and try and help...Eric Rieger  It's your kid.Ken Brown  It happens to be a passion of mine, or at least a passion in the sense that my aha moments of seeing some of my autistic patients improve mentally when we went when we fixed our gut. Yeah, I mean, I see it and so I'm very passionate about this. Here's what's really neat, this article. I mean, I just, it's almost like some of these. It's, it's like, I want to go and hug some of these scientists. So the whole article goes into how DEHP predisposes and leads to autism spectrum disorder related to drumroll. The microbiome.Eric Rieger  Microbiome! Ken Brown  Yea.Eric Rieger  Nice! Ken Brown  So we've we've these articles hit on everything that I love to talk about.Eric Rieger  So heal or protect yourself and the damage DEHP by taking care of your gut.Ken Brown  So this is so cool. So studies have shown that exposure in utero, in utero to toxic chemicals can lead to dysbiosis in the fetus. Dysbiosis by definition is basically a change in the microbiome, but not for the better. So you can have too much of one thing not enough of another, you don't have enough diversity. dysbiosis by definition just means it's not right. your microbiome your microbiome is super important. In fact, a recent study showed that children with autism spectrum disorder had higher concentrations of DEHP DEHP, but more importantly, they also looked at fecal samples of these kids with autism, and they had higher levels of a metabolite called P kressel.Eric Rieger  P Kressel? Ken Brown  This is how dialed in, we're getting into this. Now. Now we're talking about something that they looked at these autistic kids. And they said you have more of this plasticizer in your body. In addition to that, we're going to look at your microbial content, you've got dysbiosis, and you've got this one metabolite called p kressel. So as it turns out, when you have this dysbiosis, the bacterial composition can either be harmful or beneficial. So these scientists show that the link between bacterial metabolites and neuro developmental disorders are taking place. So they actually then use that knowledge, took it to mice, gave them DEHP, and then analyzed their microbiome. So the whole shift went from, oh, it does all this end organ damage. So I just told you that if you gavage yourself, you're gonna end up with testicular atrophy, I just told you, you're gonna have endocrine disruption, you're going to end up with liver problems, heart problems. Now these guys are looking at it going well, wait a minute, we're exposed to this all the time. Why do some people get it? Why do some people don't?Eric Rieger  Yeah, they're controlling their inflammatory.Ken Brown  They're controlling their inflammatory process. Super cool. And so what they did is the most important thing, when they looked at these mice is that the older mice with a more diverse microbiome were completely protected from the effects of DEHP. Eric Rieger  Interesting. Ken Brown  The most important factor was that and they showed that there has been studies in autism spectrum disorder, where an overabundance of a Clostridium species was linked to autism. So possibly by not having the age protection where you developed a diverse microbiome your entire life, and not having a full microbial diversity to do the post biotic metabolism, of these in virus mental toxins. That may be why when we expose children to certain things that could turn on the epigenetic phenomenon, or more importantly, these bacteria are now producing this P kressel. Which then shows that they're being exposed to DEHP, which could lead to autism spectrum disorder. Eric Rieger  Wow. Ken Brown  It's the first time I've come across an article like that. I'm like, holy cow, how in the world that I just read this article on plasticizers. And she found this incredible article linking the microbiome to this. I mean, I mean, this is, I mean, it's really hard to not geek out on this. We know that the bacteria your microbiome, actually does an incredible job of breaking down toxic metabolites of all kinds of things, including DEHP. Now we call these toxic metabolites and we call these different things. xeno biotics, that's spelled with an x xeno biotics are molecules that get through your body and then your own microbial background, your mind microbiome breaks them down. And if you have an appropriate microbiome, then you can, your body can be exposed to some stuff and handle it, right. But when we start exposing kids in utero, you're stacking the deck against them right off the bat. That's what's super scary. So one of the things is that you can show a dose dependent process where they even took these mice that were that were impervious to some of the effects of it. But at some point, the bacteria got overwhelmed. And then the DEHP cause dysbiosis and then they got sick. So once you took enough of it in, then you couldn't keep up with it. It's really I mean, it's, it's, it's dose dependent. So you can't just say, Oh, I'm gonna let my microbiome do everything. You still have to realize that at some point, you can overwhelm it. So just keep that in mind. So taking together DEHP can be neutralized in a mature diverse microbiome. So if p kressel is produced this has been linked to autism and they showed an overabundance of a particular Clostridium will actually convert and they even went so far as to show we've determined that the amino acid tyrosine will be converted  by p Kressall by this Clostridium species. Whoa! Thik stuff. I'm sorry, I threw all this at you, but I just got super geeked out when I was reading it, and I just found it fascinating. So just to summarize, flexible plastic like that straw that I tried to kill you with has a compound in it called DEhp. DEHP gets converted to D NOP! D NOP. And that hurts you. And what we do know is that most of the end organ damage happens because of oxidative stress. Eric Rieger  Wow. But you can control that. Ken Brown  We can control that. Yeah. How would you control it? Eric Rieger  Well, you you hit on a few things. You want to make certain that your microbiome is certainly well diverse.Ken Brown  One! Eric Rieger  You could do that with a reasonable diet, you can do that with making certain shift good exercise you could also do that by giving your body the appropriate level of polyphenols that it would help make that happen. Just so happens Atrantil I think, would be a great proanthocyanidin polyphenol to to assist in that. You also want to be able to handle the stress load. So handling the stress load the oxidative stress. Allowing your body to not be overstimulated from stress would be something that you could do to to do that. So polyphenols, by some level, handled that directly but not having your body overstressed to be something that you would want a healthy endocannabinoid system. And that way you could handle stress and oxidative stress wouldn't play into more of a cascading effect that turns into an inflammatory process for your organs and tissues. So starting with those three things diet polyphenol intake exercise and actually four CBD, I think would be a good start.Ken Brown  Yeah. You're exactly right. So while we're on it, one of the things I'm super proud of, is thatEric Rieger  Oh, look at that.Ken Brown  We have the KBMD health subscription box. We do. Let's unbox it. This is this month box just arrived Sarah Jean sent this to me. I actually subscribe to my own box. And now you're gonna fairlight I'm gonna let you just pick the ingredients out here.
