Episode Description: The multitude of humanitarian crises around the world has presented the church with an opportunity to re-imagine missions work. In spite of the seemingly overwhelming needs around the world, it is possible to work towards holistic transformation, one person at a time. To that end, for over 30 years, the Christian humanitarian organization World Help has been bringing the light of Christ into the dark places. Our guest today is Noel Brewer Yeatts, President of World Help. Noel shares with us the mission of World Hope to provide “Help for today. Hope for tomorrow.” She further explains, “We don't want to just to teach people just how to get to heaven, we want to teach them how to live on earth.” To that end, World Help works towards holistic transformation and long-term sustainable change, as it ministers in word and deed to the lost, broken, and hurting throughout the world. Noel encourages us with the good work that is being done throughout the world and how a difference can be made, one person at a time. This “help and hope model” of World Help provides a way forward as we re-imagine missions and how we can be involved in social justice and salvation simultaneously. On this episode, Noel and Bobby will discuss: The partnership between World Help and national ministries and organizations. The ways World Help is addressing both physical and spiritual needs. World Help aims to bring long-term sustainable change while also meeting the immediate needs in communities around the world. In addition to her role as president of World Help, Yeatts is a speaker and author of Awake: Doing a World of Good, One Person at a Time. Her latest book will be published in the Spring of 2023. Today's guest is Alan Fadling, the Founder and President of Unhurried Living, Inc. Additionally, he is the author of An Unhurried Life and An Unhurried Leader. In this important conversation, Alan helps us slow down to recognize the negative impact that the challenge of hurry can have on our souls. Alan recognizes the challenge of hurry that we are confronted with on a daily basis, yet shows us another way forward, the way of unhurriedness. Looking to the example of Jesus, we are reminded that “he didn't let busy fill every waking minute of his life.” Alan invites us to re-evaluate what matters most, loving God and loving people. We are presented with the important reminder that “you can't love people in a hurry and you can't love God in a hurry.” By embracing the way of unhurriedness, we can experience a deeper connection with God and therefore re-establish our identity in our relationship with God instead of our performance or accomplishments. The way of unhurriedness sets the stage for the profound kingdom impact that we can cultivate in our lives and in the people around us. Our guest this week is Tim Winders who is a strategic coach, author, and the host of SeekGoCreate. By the world's standards, Tim was very successful in his business and real estate ventures. However, the recession of 2008 led to the stripping away of the signs of his success, where he and his wife found themselves living out of a van. Although he felt downtrodden and as though his identity had been stripped to the bone, Tim learned through this difficult process what it means to trust in God in all areas of life. Now, success has been redefined for Tim's life and calling. He is confident in his calling to teach, train, and coach others to help them understand who they are created to be and to get to where they want to be. Through Tim's conversation with Bobby, he challenges us to embrace the redefining of success. True success is not marked by our achievements, possessions, and resources, but rather, a heart that seeks after God and his kingdom. In this conversation, you will hear: Place our trust in God and his kingdom instead of the systems and successes of this world. The leader as a shepherd, steward, and caretaker. Stewarding our people and resources well. Leading with love and compassion. Investing in and supporting your team. Avoiding the pitfalls of pride. Integrating all aspects of our life, business, relationships, and faith. How to avoid the idols that ensnare us. ____________________________________________________________ About the guest: Tim Winders is a Strategic Coach, Author, and host of SeekGoCreate, a podcast and YouTube interview show. He has worked in the areas of Leadership, Business, and Ministry for almost 40 years. Tim was the guy that looked like he had it all: the big house in a Country Club resort, two businesses valued at over a million dollars each, plus over $15 million in real estate. But, in 2008, the real estate markets crashed. After a slow and painful erosion of his companies, he and his wife were bankrupt and homeless living out of their Honda van. About the host: Following a successful career as CEO, Bobby sold his business to a publicly-traded company. In what he calls his "second half of life", Bobby seeks to pour Biblically-based principles into growth-minded business, church, and non-profit leaders. Through Values-Driven Leadership, Bobby serves as an Executive Coach and Training Consultant for organizations. He shares many of his principles and practices through a weekly blog, the True North Leader podcast, and through three books he has authored: Principled Profits: Outward Success Is an Inside Job True North Business: A Leader's Guide to Extraordinary Growth and Impact The Freedom Paradox: Is Unbridled Freedom Dividing America? Episode Description: Her father's legacy of kindness has profoundly impacted the life and work of Pamela Ballard. Pamela is the Chief Executive Officer of the Community Service Council (CSC) in Tulsa, OK. After 80 years, Pamela is the first female to hold the position of CEO with the CSC. The driving motivator of the CSC is “Improving Oklahomans' Lives through Research, Planning, and Action.” Pamela brings 31 years of management experience from the non-profit and banking sectors to her role and the mission of the CSC. The CSC serves the marginalized through numerous programs and resources focusing on particular demographics and the needs within those communities. The CSC offers veterans' services, a fatherhood initiative, services to mothers and children, a childcare resource center, and the 211 non-emergency 24/7 call line for those who need help with rent, utilities, food, diapers, etc. Arguably, the most important thing that Pamela brings to the CSC is her faith and the spiritual legacy of her father. For Pamela, a life lived in the service of others has been a lifelong journey shaped by the impact of her father who is a minister. He demonstrates what a life devoted to and marked by Christ and his love for us and others ought to look like. Life is simultaneously adventurous and challenging, particularly in the non-profit sector. In the midst of all the needs that the CSC exists to meet, the importance of kindness and the impact that can have cannot be overstated. As Christians, we need to keep in the forefront of our lives and callings the centrality of loving God, loving ourselves, and loving others. As Pamela says, “you can't love from an empty vessel.” When we get these things right, we can leave behind a legacy of kindness to our families, friends, work and faith communities. In this conversation, you will hear: The impact and importance of a Christ-centered legacy of kindness. Our speech and actions can have either positive or negative effects at home and in the workplace. The importance of developing leaders. Making hard calls to consistently walk in integrity and be in line with our mission. The transformative power of giving as we invest in God's work in the world. How pie-baking contests and other creative events can be the means for raising awareness and fundraising. The greatest opportunity that non-profits, and particularly faith-based entities have is to show love in kindness. Episode Description: Jeremy McMath is someone who has demonstrated how to orient not one but two companies, through which lives are impacted and the kingdom of God continues to grow. In 2013 Jeremy started Civil Southeast, LLC, which provides civil engineering services, and in 2017 Abram Homes, LLC, which provides home design and build services. Jeremy saw the founding of both companies as a means to love God and love others well. From his early days working in his dad's NAPA auto parts shop and cutting grass to his current life calling, he has always valued and practiced knowing, loving, and serving people well. He has lived this out in the context of his home, his church, and his companies. This orientation towards kingdom growth and impact is found in our relationship with God, through which we learn how to love and serve those around us, and in doing so, learn to love ourselves also. On this journey of faith, Jeremy has embraced what it means to continually trust in God's timing and provision and steward the resources and people that God has entrusted him with. Through Jeremy's lived experience he encourages and challenges us to “recognize the opportunity that exists in each one of us.” In this episode, Jeremy and Bobby will discuss: Orienting your family, company, and teams towards kingdom service which positively impacts those around you. How to build, cultivate, and maintain trust with your teams, customers, and contractors. Living out your calling, values, and mission statements. How our relationship with God is foundational to our relationship with others. Shepherding your family and your teams. Brett is part of the real estate mastermind group The Collective Genius, and he loves to give back to the community by supporting missions and non-profit organizations like Transforming Futures and Agape International Missions. Brett has been featured on several podcasts and was a premier guest on two BiggerPockets episodes, including podcast 231: A Simple Strategy for Doing 25 Deals a Month. He is a sought-after speaker who has given key presentations on scaling a real estate investing business to developing a purpose behind the business. He loves to give back all the blessings God has blessed him with. Brett recently stepped down as CEO of his real estate business and stepped solely into the owner's box. Since entrusting operations to his incredible team, Brett's business continues to grow and achieve even bigger goals. Handing over his operations was definitely difficult, but Brett felt compelled to minister to other entrepreneurs, like himself, who have faced many struggles and challenges that most other people don't understand. This led to Brett founding Iron Deep, a safe community of accomplished entrepreneurs and business leaders who encourage each other to understand their true identity in God and fulfill their deeper purposes in life. Brett strongly desires to help entrepreneurs create healthy relationships at home, develop genuine friendships, sustain physical and mental wellness, and build an intimate relationship with our Heavenly Father. Brett is the father of four children, and husband to his lovely wife, Karen. In moments of crisis, should Christian leaders take the easy path to revenue or trust God and lean on biblical values? Today, on True North Leader, guest George Green IV discusses establishing excellence and integrity across his Christian non-profit, from big decisions to culture. "God uses our circumstances to get us right where he needs us..." guest Burt Rose shared this in today's poignant interview. Burt hasn't seen his son Matthew in over 21 years - his son is believed to be homeless. The heartache Burt experienced led him to become CEO of Knox Area Rescue Ministries (KARM) in Knoxville, TN, where he has served since May 2003. At first, he couldn't look in the eyes of the homeless people coming through the doors and believed he wasn't suitable for the job. As he thought about telling the board he wasn't right for the position, God whispered to him, "I needed someone with a broken heart to do my work here..." In this interview, you'll hear: how God used Burt's heartache to forge a path for His glory; why Christian leaders must lead with conviction in the marketplace; how culture must be championed by leadership; and why it is a detriment to culture when leaders let things slide. This interview is for anyone wondering how God can use their heartache to propel the Kingdom, from personal life to business. About the guest: Burt is the CEO of Knox Area Rescue Ministries (KARM) in Knoxville, TN, where he has served since May 2003. He married his childhood sweetheart Carolyn in January 1973; with four children- two boys and two girls. Originally from Miami, FL, Burt directed a halfway house for ten years there before moving to Louisville, KY, to join Prison Fellowship Ministries (PFM) as a field director. A year later, Burt moved to the national headquarters in Reston, VA, where he served in several senior leadership roles. The last 12 of Burt's 17 years of ministry were in Pittsburgh, PA where he established the Northeast Regional office. Burt has been KARM's CEO for 19 years and will retire from that ministry--but not ministry--on October 1, 2022. He and his wife have begun a new ministry--Hold On To Hope--to support families with children with unknown whereabouts and need to hold on to hope to carry on. The disappearance of Burt and Carolyn's son Matthew 21 years ago ultimately brought them to KARM and now to support other parents. If you're casual about money, you will become a casualty! Today, Dr. Keith Johnson tells Christian leaders how he went from over 180 thousand dollars in credit card debt to a millionaire with multiple income streams. He is an Amazon Best-Selling author, speaker, and serves as president of Destiny College International. Keith's story leans on a principle you've heard from Bobby, "First, grow yourself. Then, grow your people. And only then can you grow the organization." Keith spent a year learning for five hours a day from the uber-rich so he could implement legacy-building change into his life. On his path to transformation, a mentor looked him right in the eyes and said, "Your outer world is a reflection of your inner world... and you only have $227 in the bank." This truth rocked Keith and set the foundation for how he now sees and prioritizes money as a person of faith. In this interview, you'll hear: why becoming more spiritual won't solve money issues, the task that will help you exceed what you believe is financially possible, and the number one thing keeping you from multiplying wealth. Tune in for lasting truths about growing your wealth from someone who has walked it out. When his bank account hit one million dollars, he didn't want to celebrate. Instead of a party, it turns out he had a reckoning about the impact he wanted to have with his business. He says it's not about hitting financial milestones; it's about who you become along the way and how you steward the business God has entrusted to you. You need to listen to this interview if you: are ready to serve Christ in the marketplace unapologetically, want to break free from the workaholic cycle and into Christ-like stewardship, and wish to honor God physically, mentally, and through your business. Jim Sheppard, CEO & Principal of Generis, and Bobby Albert discuss wrestling their egos to live out John 3:30 - God make me smaller so you can be bigger! Jim reminds us that as a Christian leader, you don't have to be the smartest person in the room; you don't even have to be right. What matters is the value you offer when you choose to speak. This episode is all about surrender and self-awareness that comes from getting closer to God's heart. Jim shares timeless and timely insights that encourage you to move out of fear-based decision-making and into choices built on trusting God because you can do it fast, or you can do it right, but you can't do both. Don't miss this wealth of insight - it's timeless and timely. About the guest: Jim Sheppard is CEO & Principal of Generis, a consulting firm passionate about helping churches inspire and cultivate generosity through giving development, coaching, and strategy. After college, Jim passed the CPA exam and pursued a career as a financial executive. Though he grew up in the church, Jim was not a believer until he was 28. That part of his life intersected with his business life in 1991 when he thought he might be called to the pastorate. This came at a time when he was at a very high level in a major financial services company. After an intense spiritual period in his life, Jim realized that was not where God was calling him. Seven months later through a corporate buyout and a series of providentially inspired events, Jim moved from the corporate world to giving development for churches and ministry organizations. Jim is a student of generosity and is passionate about spreading it throughout the Church. For the last 27+ years, he has devoted his life to coaching pastors especially in navigating the resource limitations that restrict their ministry potential. Jim understands the financial challenges that churches face today; annual giving, debt, capital projects, and planned giving. He is a positive force in bridging these needs with the power of spiritually motivated stewardship. Cumulatively, Jim has partnered with his clients to raise over $1.7 billion for local church ministry. Jim is a frequent writer and speaker on generosity and ministry funding. He is co-author of Contagious Generosity: Creating A Culture Of Giving In Your Church. Jim and his wife, Nancy, live in the Atlanta, GA area and they have two married daughters. Bobby's journey taught him that company culture, like the wind, isn't something you can see, but you can feel pushing against you or propelling you forward. Today's successful leaders create change, growth, and keep employees by shifting culture. About the host: Following a successful career as CEO, Bobby sold his business to a publicly-traded company. In what he calls his "second half of life", Bobby seeks to pour Biblically-based principles into growth-minded business leaders. Through Values-Driven Leadership, Bobby serves as an Executive Coach and Training Consultant for organizations. He shares many of his principles and practices through a weekly blog, the True North Business podcast, and through three books he has authored: Principled Profits: Outward Success Is an Inside Job, True North Business: A Leader's Guide to Extraordinary Growth and Impact, and The Freedom Paradox: Is Unbridled Freedom Dividing America? A company culture that encourages a heart of servitude starts with the CEO and leadership team. Guest Joseph James, CEO of Professional K9 Solutions, shares why flipping the org chart means leading like Jesus. Joseph also shared that his wife died just twenty-two days after his dad. How do you lead a business (and a family) when you don't even want to get out of bed? This challenging season showed Joseph how important it was for leadership to carry the vision for a business. It also taught him why you need to focus small instead of magnifying big challenges. He took these lessons into 2020 and the pandemic. Don't miss this heartfelt conversation about leading during challenging seasons and creating a company culture that helps a business and its people thrive. Developing leaders for over 25 school campuses is just one of the many jobs for Mike Kuhrt, Superintendent of the Wichita Falls Independent School District in Texas. With so many campuses, Mike talks about how he starts planting seeds with employees who really don't see themselves as leaders, but he does. Additionally, Mike shares stories of knowing God had him in the right place at the right time for the unexpected outcomes when he led one school district through the aftermath of a hurricane, only to move across the state and face near disaster following a flood. Bringing your faith and your work into one vision to glorify the Lord is what we talk about in this episode of True North Business. I really enjoyed talking with Jim & Martha Brangenberg, who lead several ministries, the primary one I Work For Him (iwork4him.com). They share how they searched for many years for what God had planned for them and now help Christians across the country live out their faith at work. Jim and Martha have found many Christians, as I have, who believe they operate in two different worlds - one at work and the other at church. That is not the way God designed us, and I hope you will join me to hear great stories about people coming to understand this important principle better after visiting with the Brangenbergs. You can listen to and follow True North Business on Apple by clicking here, on Spotify here, on the Charisma Podcast Network, or any of the platforms where you typically listen to podcasts. There is mention at the end of this show of an offer for a free book. The number to call for the free gift is (866)713-9675. More about my guests: Jim and Martha Brangenberg committed their lives to full-time ministry as teenagers and later recognized that their workplace answered that call. As entrepreneurs and business owners, Jim and Martha learned their work was significant in the Kingdom of God and able to reach people who would never set foot in a church. Since 2013, Jim and Martha have co-hosted the iWork4Him Talk Show challenging thousands across the globe with the simple message that your workplace is your mission field. They have recently added podcasts for iRetire4Him and sheWorks4Him into their line-up. In addition to the podcasts and radio spots, speaking, and mentoring, they have co-authored the collaborative books of iWork4Him, sheWorks4Him, and iRetire4Him. The Freedom Paradox – Bobby Albert pt 2 (https://kcrpodcast.com/bobby-albert-grid-and-greenery-1-400/)My guest today is Bobby Albert, president of “Values-Driven Leadership, LLC,” where he helps other leaders to build aspiring workplace cultures through value-driven leadership. He is an author, speaker, business consultant and a contributor on “Fox News Radio,” sharing his insight on leadership, workplace culture and employee engagement. Just one month out of college, he inherited the family business that was burdened with debt and turned that into a highly successful company, starting twelve different businesses along the way and has acquired nine other companies on top of that. He attributes his success to focusing on creating a value-driven culture where the people are the focus and the financial results are the happy reward. In fact, this type of success earned him two awards for “The Best 100 Companies to Word for in Texas” the first two years he applied for consideration! He has served for over 20 years as a deacon in his home church and has taught for over 30 years in high school and is an avid long distance bicyclist in his spare time, where he and his wife of over 40 years, Susan, both completed the “Hotter Than Hell 100” mile bike ride in Texas – in August. He is an author of three books. His first book was “Principled Profits – Outward Success Is an Inside Job,” his second was The Freedom Paradox: Is Unbridled Freedom Dividing America (https://amzn.to/3klmR6S), which cuts through the haze of hatred and polarizing politics of our day and time we see ourselves in right now. There is one section of your book that just jumped out at me, especially with all that we see happening right now all over this nation. It deals with, what you call, the “Four Cultural Changes” that are happening in America. Can you explain what those four cultural changes are? Do you see a way forward that will bring our culture back from these four changes to a culture that is more in line with America’s core values and purpose that we talked about a few minutes ago? After writing two successful business books, what made you decide to write a non-business book this time? Bobby, how can our listeners get in touch with you? Folks, everything Bobby Albert just shared with us is so needful in the day and time in which we live. If there was ever a need for a book such as ”The Freedom Paradox,” it is now. Especially now. I highly encourage you to order your copy of Bobby Albert’s book, The Freedom Paradox: Is Unbridled Freedom Dividing America (https://amzn.to/3klmR6S), today.
