What does it really mean to be a disciple of Jesus Christ? Those that have been around church for any length of time, have undoubtedly heard the term or even been a part of the process called "discipleship". But what does it really mean to be a disciple and how does that apply to our lives today? My guest on The March or Die Show today is Dennis Allen. Dennis has a diverse background having served as six-time Chief Executive Officer specializing in “turnarounds” for Wall Street-backed corporations. Dennis works and speaks with businesses, universities, churches, and conferences focusing on leadership and discipleship. Dennis serves today on boards, in business and charity leadership roles. As well as his efforts in churches of all sizes – megas, mids, and startups – as an elder, deacon, and teacher. A combat-rated Air Force F-15 fighter pilot, and an alumnus of the Oxford Centre for Christian Apologetics. Throughout his career Dennis has been involved in a number of churches and has noticed a disturbing trend: Many Christians and regular church attendees are either unable or unwilling to share their faith outside of the walls of their church! This has led to an alarming percentage of young people walking away from the faith that was a part of their growing up lives. These observations along with a mountain of research supporting these findings led Dennis to write the book, "The Disciple Dilemma." This is an extremely important conversation for every follower of Christ and for anyone seeking to understand how we can TRULY impact the world around us with the Hope of a relationship with God. What a privilege it is to have the top graduate of the Air Force Top Gun School and retired U.S. Air Force F-22 and F-15 fighter pilot and squadron commander, Rob “Cujo” Teschner in the studio with Marcus for this week's Team Never Quit Podcast. Listen in for an inspiring conversation with Cujo, whose life is an amazing success story, and whose life mission is to teach and inspire others, bridging the gap between the principles of high performance combat veterans and high performance business. His fight with Colorectal Cancer is what prompted Cujo to retire from the Air Force early. Yet his ambition led to his path of entrepreneurship, leadership and team development. Cujo is the founder and CEO of VMax Group, an international leadership training company and he has authored several books, two of which went to #1 on the Amazon bestseller list. In this episode you will hear: • I loved being part of the Air Force family. We lived all over the place. (7:57) • 1977 when Luke Skywalker wants to join some academy and then join the rebellion. That resonated with me. (9:49) • As a kid, I felt like the military was my family. It's what I knew. (10:50) • I thought it was always cool to hop on an airplane to go someplace new. To meet new people along the way. (13:00) • My letter – the one that says “thanks for applying” never said “try again”. (18:26) • The more people told me it wasn't gonna happen the more committed I was to proving them wrong. (20:47) • I had never flown an airplane before I went to the Air Force Academy. (23:32) • Isn't that stunning how fast we accelerate leadership – how fast we accelerate somebody to realize their potential? (27:07) • If there was a time period I could freeze it would be First Lieutenant to Captain, because that's when I was out there doing the mission. (28:28) • What we need is a constant stream of warriors who are ready to go forth and do. (35:18) • The biggest honor of my military career was being called to be an instructor at our Fighter Weapons School, basically it's the Air Force Top Gun Program. (36:49) • You can beat people up and tell them how much they suck and they can learn from that, but another alternative might be Hey Cujo, we were 2 decisions from victory today. (43:55) • I try to apply that to my kids. (44:46) • One of the huge blessings of my life was being a part of teams that mattered. (48:09) • Our family team got a whole heck of a lot better as a result of my failure with cancer. That caused us to focus where we needed to. I'm eternally grateful for it. (52:32) • One of the best 4-star bosses I ever worked for would come in every month and ask us “Hey what are you doing for the home team?” (55:33)

On 27 Nov 2006, Ginger Gilbert Ravella had the run pulled out from under her and her world came crashing down. Her husband, Major Troy Gilbert, was an F16 pilot from the 309th Fighter Wing, Luke AFB, Arizona. He was deployed to Balad and during a close air-support mission to a special operations forces about 40 miles north his plane crashed. Insurgents took the body as a war trophy and it would be 10 years before he was found and brought back home. Ginger was left to raise 5 children, all under the age of 9, and rebuild their lives. Jay and Donna sit down with Ginger as she tells her story on what it took to come back after having her world turned upside down; what she is doing now to give back; and what advice she has for those that have walked in similar shoes. Ginger's Bio Ginger Gilbert Ravella is a military wife and widow, mother of five, stepmother of two, writer and international speaker. At 36 years old, she faced the sudden tragic loss of her college-sweetheart husband in Operation Iraqi Freedom and the horrors that quickly followed. Her late husband, Major Troy Gilbert, an Air Force F-16 pilot, gave his life while saving over twenty Special Operation soldiers, defining a true American war hero. His remains were tragically taken from the crash site by Iraqi insurgents, which ultimately led to the most unprecedented and captivating story of recovery in U.S. military history. Major Gilbert left behind five beautiful children, all under the age of 9 years old. Ginger's openly genuine testimony of wrestling with God in the midst of despair and depression resonates with those who question their faith and future in the face of tragedy. Their private pain became front-page news time and time again over the amazing ten-year journey of bringing Troy home to U.S. soil. The past couple of weeks have had some interesting events happen over the skies of North America. Most of us are aware that the North American Aerospace Defense Command, or NORAD as it is commonly known, has for the first time since its creation shot down objects that were in North American airspace. For those that don't know, NORAD is a United States and Canada bi-national organization charged with the missions of aerospace warning, aerospace control and maritime warning for North America. According to NORAD, Aerospace warning includes the detection, validation, and warning of attack against North America whether by aircraft, missiles, or space vehicles, through mutual support arrangements with other commands.Perhaps there will be an addition to that statement because the first object shot down on February 4th was a suspected high-altitude surveillance balloon which was deployed by China, who for their part called it a "civilian airship" that had deviated "far from its planned course" due to "limited self-steering capability."Most of us saw footage of the large balloon, which supported an under-slung apparatus including solar panels, and what intelligence officials believe are various instruments and sensors.Floating at an altitude of approximately 60,000 feet, the balloon was first detected over Alaska after which it traveled down through Canada and across the United States. On the direction of military officials and the U.S. Government, NORAD directed fighters to shoot down the balloon once it was off the coast of South Carolina. This location was selected as it posed the least threat to people on the ground. This event was the first time the U.S. Air Force F-22 Raptor has made an air-to-air kill, and it did so using the relatively new AIM-9X Sidewinder, a short-range heat-seeking missile. This event was followed by subsequent detection's and shoot-downs of high-altitude objects over Northern Alaska on February 10; the Yukon territory on February 11; and Lake Huron on February 12. These objects were described as cylindrical or octagonal, and were floating at altitudes between 20,000 and 40,000 feet, and they were smaller than the balloon that was shot down off the coast of South Carolina. Are these balloons a new occurrence? Are they threats to national security or to commercial aviation? Did they fly through gaps in radar coverage? Is using missiles the best way to shoot them down?We invited retired Lieutenant-General Yvan Blondin, the former Commander of the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) to give his expert opinion in answering these questions and others.General Blondin is eminently qualified to speak to these events as he served as a CF-18 fighter pilot who has conducted NORAD missions, and as a general officer, he served in various command positions at NORAD before serving as the Commander of the Royal Canadian Air Force. We can't think of anyone better to discuss this with -- it is exactly what we do here at Go Bold -- we have senior leaders share their expert insight on topics that are meaningful to Allied Forces around the world. As a contextual bonus, we added the actual radio audio between F-22 fighter pilots and controllers during the first NORAD shoot down of the high-altitude balloon off the South Carolina coast on February 4 (this audio is widely available in the public domain). We want to thank Lieutenant-General Blondin for his time and insight in discussing these milestone events for NORAD.Go Bold!

Biden's administration used an Air Force F-22 Raptor jet fighter and Raytheon's Sidewinder missile, to shoot down a meandering Chinese balloon on Saturday. Republicans in Congress called the balloon a “show of force,” and Biden canceled Secretary of State Blinken's trip to China. Recently, a suspected Chinese spy balloon was shot down by a U.S. Air Force F-22 Raptor as it drifted over the Atlantic off the South Carolina coast, ending an unusual series of events that placed additional strain on already tense relations between China and the United States. With a payload the size of three school buses, China claimed the balloon was “a civilian airship used for research, mainly meteorological, purposes," although U.S. officials said otherwise. However, the bizarre events have also reinvigorated debate over the DOD's investigations into UAP, and whether some instances involving military encounters with strange phenomena could represent similar spy balloon incursions. This week, we dive into the controversy, joined by Space.com editor Brett Tingley, and examine one of the most unusual diplomatic crises in recent memory on The Micah Hanks Program. Ready For Takeoff - Turn Your Aviation Passion Into A Career
Operation Linebacker, the code name for the new interdiction campaign, would have four objectives: to isolate North Vietnam from its sources of supply by destroying railroad bridges and rolling stock in and around Hanoi and north-eastwards toward the Chinese frontier; the targeting of primary storage areas and marshalling yards; to destroy storage and transshipment points and to eliminate (or at least damage) the North's air defense system. With nearly 85 percent of North Vietnam's imports (which arrived by sea) blocked by Pocket Money, the administration and the Pentagon believed that this would cut its final lines of communication with its socialist allies. China alone shipped an average of 22,000 tons of supplies a month over two rail lines and eight major roads that linked it with North Vietnam. On 10 May Operation Linebacker began with mass bombing operations against North Vietnam by tactical fighter aircraft of the Seventh Air Force and Task Force 77. Their targets included the railroad switching yards at Yên Viên and the Paul Doumer Bridge, on the northern outskirts of Hanoi. A total of 414 sorties were flown on the first day of the operation, 120 by the Air Force and 294 by the Navy and they encountered the heaviest single day of air-to-air combat during the Vietnam War, with 11 VPAF MiGs (four MiG-21s and seven MiG-17s) and two Air Force F-4s shot down.[45] Anti-aircraft artillery and over 100 surface-to-air missile firings also brought down two U.S. Navy aircraft (one of which was flown by aces Duke Cunningham and William P. Driscoll). By the end of the month, American aircraft had destroyed 13 bridges along the rail lines running from Hanoi to the Chinese border. Another four were destroyed between the capital and Haiphong, including the notorious Thanh Hóa Bridge. Several more bridges were brought down along the rail line leading to the south toward the DMZ. Targets were then switched to petroleum and oil storage and transportation networks and North Vietnamese airfields. There was an immediate impact on the battlefield in South Vietnam. Shelling by PAVN artillery dropped off by one-half between 9 May and 1 June. This slowdown was not due to an immediate shortage of artillery shells but rather to a desire to conserve ammunition. U.S. intelligence analysts believed that PAVN had enough stockpiled supplies to sustain their campaigns throughout the autumn. The intensity of the bombing campaign was reflected by the sharp increase in the number of strike and support sorties flown in Southeast Asia as a whole: from 4,237 for all services, including the RVNAF, during the month preceding the invasion, to 27,745 flown in support of ARVN forces from the beginning of April to the end of June (20,506 of them flown by the Air Force). B-52s provided an additional 1,000 sorties during the same period. The North was feeling the pressure, admitting in the official PAVN history that "between May and June only 30 percent of supplies called for in our plan actually reached the front-line units." In total, 41,653 Linebacker missions dropped 155,548 tons of bombs. In addition to interdicting the road and rail system of North Vietnam, Linebacker also systematically attacked its air defense system. The VPAF, with approximately 200 interceptors, strongly contested these attacks throughout the campaign. Navy pilots, employing a mutually supporting "loose deuce" tactical formation and many with TOPGUN training, enjoyed a kill ratio of 6:1 in their favor in May and June, such that after that the VPAF rarely engaged them thereafter. In contrast, the Air Force experienced a 1:1 kill ratio through the first two months of the campaign, as seven of its eventual 24 Linebacker air-to-air losses occurred without any corresponding VPAF loss in a twelve-day period between 24 June and 5 July. Air Force pilots were hampered by use of the outdated "fluid four" tactical formations (a four-plane, two element formation in which only the leader did the shooting and in which the outside wingmen were vulnerable) dictated by service doctrine. Also contributing to the parity was a lack of air combat training against dissimilar aircraft, a deficient early warning system, and ECM pod formations that mandated strict adherence to formation flying. During August the introduction of real-time early warning systems, increased aircrew combat experience and degraded VPAF ground control interception capabilities reversed the trend to a more favorable 4:1 kill ratio. Linebacker saw several other "firsts". On the opening day of the operation, Navy Lieutenant Duke Cunningham and his radar intercept officer, Lieutenant (j.g.) William P. Driscoll became the first U.S. air aces of the Vietnam War when they shot down their fifth MiG. On 28 August, the Air Force gained its first ace when Captain Richard S. Ritchie downed his fifth enemy aircraft. Twelve days later, Captain Charles B. DeBellevue (who had been Ritchie's backseater during four of his five victories) downed two more MiGs, bringing his total to six. On 13 October another weapons officer, Captain Jeffrey S. Feinstein, was credited with his fifth MiG, making him the final Air Force ace

Pastor Tony Evans says it this way: "The problem isn't that we don't have enough Christians. The problem is Christ doesn't have enough disciples.” Statistics from Dennis' book: 65 % of the US population identify as Christian (200 million believers) and yet less than a quarter of them attend church (50 million) 82 % of these believers say they have no Bible study, faith community or mentor 80 % say they lack the skills or relationships to feel free to talk about their faith Another survey found that 92% of Christians do not believe that sharing their faith is important The statistics show 6 out of 10 young people walking away from the church - calling it arrogant, evil or irrelevant This is every Christian parent's worst nightmare and yet it has proven true for people all around us and maybe in our own homes. We welcome Ginger Ravella to the show today! We are talking about:The hope we have in Christ in pain and sufferingHow God prepares us for our futureBreathing oxygen into our routineGinger Gilbert Ravella is a military wife and widow, mother of five, stepmother of two, writer, and international speaker. Major Gilbert left behind five beautiful children, all under the age of 9 years old. Ginger's openly genuine testimony of wrestling with God in the midst of despair and depression resonates with those who question their faith and future in the face of tragedy. Their private pain became front-page news time and time again over the amazing ten-year journey of bringing Troy home to U.S. soil. Ginger works tirelessly to minister to widows through Never Alone Retreats as well as supporting and raising funds to help fallen and disabled veterans and their families. She is an international speaker and author devoted to her God, her family, and her country. She is remarried to another widower and USAF fighter pilot, Colonel (Ret) Jim Ravella, who lost his wife to breast cancer. Their profound inspirational memoir, titled “Hope Found”, is a collection of personal stories beautifully woven together with real-life struggles, vulnerable faith, and unshakable patriotism. They document their stories of suffering, the lessons they learned, and the path to finding joy again. Their personal mission is to encourage anyone who seeks reconciliation and peace when life hurts the most and to continue to serve their nation by serving others. A portion of the proceeds of their book goes to helping fallen military families and breast cancer patients. Ginger and Jim currently reside in Franklin, TN with their children.Connect with Ginger on Instagram here and theanchorofhope.comConnect with the She Lives Fearless community here.

In this week's podcast, we bring you an amazing guest – Lt. Colonel Dan Rooney – an Air Force F-16 fighter pilot with 3 combat tours in Iraq under his belt, two Top Gun awards, and countless military decorations. Dan recounts his life dreams as a 12 year-old boy, which have now come to fruition – to be a fighter pilot and a PGA golf professional. He also founded “Folds of Honor”, whose mission is to provide educational scholarships to the spouses and children of wounded or killed military service members. Folds of Honor has provided 30,000 life changing scholarships totaling over $140 million dollars. Dan, a man of great faith, speaks of the importance of God in his life and the daily motivation it brings. In this episode you will hear: I had an unlikely dream for a 12 year old kid, but ultimately God would put those two together for a much higher purpose. I felt the hand of god on my shoulder. He picks the least of us to do something significant. Just grow up and do what you love. Don't be a prisoner of common assumption. The most successful people in the world, are the people that are the best in handling life when things aren't going their way. We are defined on a daily basis when it doesn't go our way. When you meet the families that you help and you see the impact that you have – that's what keeps you leaning into the wind. Engineer a code of resilience in your life. Use your talents to make a difference – to be fulfilled. As a pilot, we need resistance to ascend – Our lives aren't any different. Be the best version of yourself regardless of the chaos around you. If we have one skill, it's being able to take in copious amounts of information at high speed, and prioritizing what matters. If you want more blessings, you've got to bring God with you every day. Every interaction I have - I will bring my faith to it. My 3 “never quit” motivations: I've never quit praying; I've never quit showing up at the gym and; I've never quit on my marriage.

As one of only a handful of women who have earned the Distinguished Flying Cross, Melissa “SHOCK” May, a career Air Force F-16 pilot, was also in the first wave of women to fly fighter aircraft straight from Undergraduate Pilot Training. Her Air Force career got its start because her outstanding abilities as a competitive swimmer. Melissa was recruited to swim on the US Air Force Academy (USAFA) Intercollegiate team, which ultimately culminated in her induction into the USAFA Athletic Hall of Fame. Until her junior year at USAFA, the Combat Exclusion Law was in effect and women were not allowed to fly Air Force fighter aircraft, so the plan of becoming a fighter pilot was not even on the table. Upon graduation, she went on to pilot training in Del Rio, TX and she learned then that a fighter was a possibility, but she would have to finish high enough among her peers to earn one. Melissa graduated first in her class and earned the Distinguished Graduate Award, the Flying Training award and the Air Education and Training Commander’s Award. After pilot training she went on to fly the F-16 and her assignments included bases in Korea, Japan, Italy, and two assignments as an Instructor Pilot at the F-16 schoolhouse in Arizona. She also returned to the US Air Force Academy as a Commander of a Cadet Squadron. Melissa earned her combat time in Iraq in Operations Southern Watch and Iraqi Freedom, and in Libya in Operations Unified Protector and Odyssey Dawn. Her Distinguished Flying Cross was awarded during a night mission over Baghdad where her flight of 4 was under heavy fire from anti-aircraft artillery and guided missiles. The weather was extremely poor and her flight was tasked to bomb missile sites that were actively targeting them. At her side that night was one of the youngest wingman in the squadron. SHOCK was also a founding member of the Chick Fighter Pilot Association, a group she and a few fellow F-16 pilots started when they realized the importance of female friendship and mentorship in a male-dominated career. SHOCK served in the Air Force for 20 years and upon retirement, she joined a major airline where she now flies Boeing 737’s based out of Denver. Her husband of 21 years, also a retired Air Force F-16 pilot, flies at a major airline as well. They have two children and they are striving for a balance of work and maximum family time. If she’s not flying the friendly skies and bouncing around a new city or country, you can find her on the golf course, a hiking trail, mountain biking, or snowboarding in the winter.

Ready For Takeoff - Turn Your Aviation Passion Into A Career
Christina “Thumper” Hopper grew up in an Air Force family where both of her parents enlisted and served. Her parents’ interracial marriage encountered harsh discrimination and Thumper experienced the demoralizing effects of racism on her first day of kindergarten. The shame and rejection she felt from this left a mark on her life that forever changed her. She could have become bitter, depressed, and victimized, but instead through the wisdom, support and love of her parents, she developed a deep faith in God and the power of love, joy and purpose to overcome great obstacles. When the opportunity to fly combat fighter aircraft opened for women, Thumper was in college. She had never considered an aviation career and didn’t think it was an option for her, but her ROTC Commander encouraged her to apply for a pilot slot. After having a vivid dream about flying, Thumper took a step of faith and applied to pilot training where she earned an assignment to the F-16 Fighting Falcon and blazed a historic trail for women in aviation. She was among the first generation of women in fighters, one of only two black female fighter pilots in the Air Force, the first black female fighter pilot in a major war and the first black female fighter instructor pilot. She served in combat during Operation Iraqi Freedom and earned 4 Air Medals. Her story appeared in multiple media venues including the Harry Connick Jr. Show, 700 Club, and Good Housekeeping, Glamour, and Ebony magazines. She was also featured in Family Circle magazine as one of the Top 20 Most Influential Moms of 2018. Sport also played a huge role in shaping Thumper’s life. At a young age, she took up competitive swimming and developed a strong sense of self worth, drive and discipline through competition. Her success in swimming enabled her to compete at the collegiate level and set the stage for her ongoing competitive endeavors. After having three children, Thumper took up long distance running and triathlon at age 34. She completed the Boston marathon twice, conquered IRONMAN Kona and the half-IRONMAN World Championships, and she currently competes as part of the Air Force triathlon team. Through sport, Thumper learned to do hard things, overcome adversity, and make “impossible” things possible. Today, Thumper continues to inspire the next generation of fighter pilots as a Reserve T-38 Instructor Pilot. She also flies for a major airline and raises three beautiful children with her husband Aaron, a retired Air Force F-16 pilot and airline pilot. Doing hard things pervades every aspect of the Hoppers lives including their efforts to balance work, life, sport and giving back to the community. She also volunteers for Sisters of the Skies.

Tucker ‘Cinco’ Hamilton is an Experimental Fighter Test Pilot for the United States Air Force and is the previous Commander of the U.S. Air Force F-35 Integrated Test Force. Tucker Hamilton started his Air Force career as an operational F-15C pilot where he supported multiple Red Flag Exercises and real-world Operation Noble Eagle missions where he protected the President of the United States, at times escorting Air Force One. He served as an Air Liaison Officer in Germany where he was the director of operations for a key command and control squadron. While serving in Germany, he was hand-selected to be the initial cadre for the first MC-12 squadron in Afghanistan as a part of the Air Force's first tactical Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance aircraft. After Afghanistan, he attended Test Pilot School where he flew over 30 different aircraft. After Test Pilot School graduation, he became an F-15C and F-15E Instructor Experimental Test Pilot, leading 11 test programs, supporting the newest software and weapons for the 450-plus F-15 fleet. He then served as the Developmental Test & Evaluation Lead for the Joint Strike Fighter, F-35, overseeing the entire Developmental Test & Evaluation effort for the U.S. Air Force, Navy, and Marines. He then transitioned to Edwards Air Force Base, California, where he began to fly all three variants of the F-35 as the Developmental Test Director of Operations. I’ve personally had the pleasure of knowing Cinco in our work together with the US team at Gravity Industries, and while it’s no secret how incredible Tucker’s career has been, I actually didn’t know most of that until putting together this podcast! The most inspiring thing about Cinco is his incredible humility and servant leadership mindset, always putting the needs of others before himself. While I’m biased from knowing Cinco well, I can easily say this is one of our best stories yet.

As we honor our veterans this week and their great sacrifice for our country, we are thrilled to have Ginger Gilbert Ravella join us on Pardon the Mess. Ginger is a mother of five, stepmother of two, military wife, writer, and speaker. At thirty-six years old, she faced the sudden, tragic loss of her college-sweetheart husband and Air Force F-16 pilot in Operation Iraqi Freedom. Her husband, Major Troy Gilbert, gave his life while saving over twenty Special Operation soldiers. As Ginger so beautifully puts it, “He was a hero every day, but that day he became an American hero.” Major Gilbert left behind five beautiful children under the age of nine and a wife who spent the following days wrestling with God in the midst of deep despair and depression. Ginger learned that Iraqi insurgents had taken her husband’s body, thereby repeatedly making their story a CNN headline as multiple attempts were made to recover his body. Her testimony is so powerful, reminding us that God is enough even in the darkest places and how he prepared her well in advance for the hard days that were to come. Ginger is now remarried to another Air Force pilot, Colonel Jim Ravella (Ret), who lost his wife to breast cancer. Ginger shares advice on blended families, grief, ministering to widows, and wrestling with God in the hard places of life. Ginger and Jim Ravella continue to tirelessly support and raise funds to help fallen and disabled veterans and their families. Their inspirational memoir, Hope Found, weaves together their real-life struggles, vulnerable faith, and unshakable patriotism. Links: Hope Found Connect with Ginger Get your Advent devotional now!
What is the difference between a single-ship demo team and a multi-plane demonstration squadron, like the U.S. Navy’s Blue Angels ( https://www.blueangels.navy.mil/ ) ? How does one get selected to perform with a demonstration team at airshows? Is it a tryout, leadership selection process, etc. and how long is a rotation? On this episode, the U.S. Air Force F-16 Viper Demo Team ( https://www.acc.af.mil/Home/Aerial-Events/F16-Viper/ ) joins us to answer these vexing listener questions. Demo pilot Major Garrett “Toro” Schmitz and crew chief Staff Sergeant Austin Dixon explain what the team is, what they do, how they differ from the Thunderbirds, and more. Be sure to follow the team on Instagram ( https://www.instagram.com/viperdemoteam/?hl=en ) (@viperdemoteam) and Facebook ( https://www.facebook.com/ViperDemoTeam/ ) to learn more and catch their next performance. In this episode of SOFREP Radio, journalist and Marine Veteran Alex Hollings sits down with U.S. Air Force F-35 pilot instructor, Major Justin “Hasard” Lee. Lee has nearly 400 hours of combat flight time at the stick of an F-16. Now he spends his days teaching the next generation of pilots how to fly the world’s most advanced fighter, along with hosting the popular podcast, “The Professionals Playbook.” Hollings and Lee discuss what sets the F-35 apart from other military aircraft, and how the presence of the advanced fighter can even make older jets better in a fight. Then Hollings gets to the really important stuff... like what a real fighter pilot thinks of the movie “Iron Eagle.” If you haven't already noticed, the new SOFREP website has been launched! All of our content – including an additional article catalog of more than 12,000 gear reviews, SOF history pieces, and military aviation articles – have been consolidated into one completely redesigned site and mobile app, to include featured categories such as News, Gear, Media (video & podcasts), Team Room & member forums, Store, and the #1 Gear Club in America – Crate Club. Since first flight of the original F-35 test aircraft more than 12 years ago, the U.S. military has given the public only one glimpse of the aircraft’s hotly contested dogfighting chops — and that was nearly two years ago at the Paris Air Show. That’s changing this year. Defense Editor Steve Trimble talks with U.S. Air Force F-35 Demo Pilot Capt. Andrew “Dojo” Olson about the new display’s public debut on March 30 in Melbourne, Florida.

Merrill McPeak followed his initial Air Force F-104 and F-100 flying assignments as a member of the Air Force Thunderbirds aerial demonstration team, performing in 200 airshows. He then went to Vietnam, and became the commander of the famed Misty FAC (Forward Air Controller) squadron. After Vietnam, he went to Armed Forces Staff College, then to the Pentagon, and had a host of other assignments that eventually led to his becoming the Chief of Staff of the Air Force. In this podcast, General McPeak recounts a fascinating story of his Air Force career, which started with his notaccepting a Regular commission, since he had no intention of making the Air Force a career! He also describes his crash during an airshow, when the wings separated from his F-100 as he was pulling up for the “bomb-burst” show finale, at just under the speed of sound. In this interview General McPeak also talks about his return to Southeast Asia with his sons, to see the Ho Chi Minh trail from the ground.
