Randee and her mom are very close. They have a wonderful relationship and Randee says "she's my best cheerleader."  A lot of that has to do with the honesty and open communication that they had from the very beginning-"adoption was normal, not a stigma, not a tragedy."  Also, Randee learned at a young age that just because you are blood related doesn't guarantee you a loving relationship.Lois was definitely a role model to Randee. But Randee also feels that she learned from things that Lois did and didn't t do and then would form her own opinions. Randee had the luxury of knowing that her mom "always had my back.".Unfortunately, growing up in the 70's, Randee's parents divorced and her mom went to work. She was able to get contract work, writing and editing government contracts. It was a stressful time for Lois, but she made the best of it. For example, her office didn't have a window, so she decided to put a picture of a window up on the wall. That made it feel so much better."The Only Songs We're Singing," was released April 2025 and "Leave No Trace" will be released August 2025.In “The Only Song Worth Singing”, the power of friendship is one of the major themes blended with myth and the power of music. Imagine Irish folklore combined with mysticism – makes for a magical read. She's also written Amazon Bestseller, Tune in Tomorrow and co-wrote the popular, The Law & Order: SVU Unofficial Companion and co-edited, Across the Universe: Tales of Alternative Beatles.Randee Dawn's Bio:Randee Dawn is a Brooklyn-based author and journalist focusing on speculative fiction across the categories (science-fiction, fantasy and horror) at night, while writing entertainment and lifestyle stories during the day for publications including Today.com, NBCNews.com, Variety, The Los Angeles Times and Emmy Magazine. You may have seen my name in other publications over the years, including Soap Opera Digest and The Boston Phoenix, E! Randee Dawn. Take a walk with me down Fascination Street, as I get to know Randee dawn. Randee is a journalist and author. In this episode we get to know Randee from her early days in Bensonhurst Brookly, to her NPR day, and even her beginnings as a music journalist. Randee shares stories about working with The Trashcan Sinatras, and Adam Schlesinger. She tells us about how her music fan attitude led to her working with the band Ivy, which turned into some really fascinating online blog projects. Then we discuss how she came to write for Alternative Press magazine, The Hollywood Reporter, and Soap Opera Digest, basically at the same time. In her soap opera journalism career, she covered: One Life To Live, Another World, and maybe just a bit on Passions!. Naturally I ask her about her interviewing Vincent D'Onofrio about the Forest Witaker TV show The Godfather of Harlem. Even though Randee made a bit of a name for herself writing Law & Order speculative fiction, that didn't come up in her interview with Vincent. Finally, we dive into Randee's books! Besides having developed an audience in the speculative fiction area, Randee Dawn has written a bunch of books. Her fun and dynamic storytelling has gotten her multiple novels published in a relatively short period of time. 'Tune In Tomorrow', 'Don't Touch That Dial', 'Leave No Trace', and 'The Only Song Worth Singing' have catapulted Randee into a new level of popularity. These novels have become so popular that the publishers are dying for more! Check out all of her work at RandeeDawn.com and find her on all the socials at Randee Dawn. Randee continues to write for Today.com, Variety, The Envelope, and The L.A. Times.

Andrea Evans passed away over the weekend at the end of 66.As a child, Evans appeared in beauty pageants, and later regional theater and commercials. She graduated early from high school and attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. While there Evans was cast as an extra in the 1978 Brian De Palma film The Fury, and the same year in the miniseries The Awakening Land.Casting director Mary Jo Slater soon got Evans the role of Tina on One Life to Live, where she stayed until 1981. Evans then went on to portray Patty Williams, Paul Williams' little sister and Jack Abbott's wife, on The Young and the Restless from 1983 to 1984.[Evans returned to One Life to Live in 1985, in a storyline credited with putting the series "back on course"[ and ultimately bringing Tina to her height of popularity. She was nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award in 1988 for Outstanding Ingenue for One Life to Live,[6] and has appeared on the cover of Soap Opera Digest five times. Evans appeared on the cover of Soap Opera Digest every year from 1986 to 1990.In January 1990, Evans abruptly quit One Life to Live and dropped out of public view for nearly a decade. Years later, she revealed that she had left to escape a persistent stalker who had gone as far as breaking into the ABC studios in New York City, intent on killing her.[7] At the time, the stalker incident had been played down heavily in the press. On One Life to Live, the character of Tina moved away to California after her divorce from long-time love interest Cord Roberts. After a short hiatus, the character returned but with former Playboy Playmate Karen Witter in the role.Evans made two feature films during the 1990s, performing a small part in A Low Down Dirty Shame in 1994 and a major role in Ice Cream Man in 1995. In 1999, Evans returned to television, appearing as Amber Moore's "trashy" mother Tawny on The Bold and the Beautiful until 2000. That year she stepped into the role of Rebecca Hotchkiss Crane on the NBC soap opera Passions[2] (replacing Maureen McCormick, whose ten-episode stint had ended), where she would stay until the series' final episode. Evans' longtime recurring status on Passions fueled rumors for years of her return to her One Life to Live role of Tina. When NBC canceled Passions, it was announced in July 2007 that she would stay with the series for its continued run on DirecTV. Passions finished taping in March 2008,[11] though new episodes were broadcast on DirecTV through August 2008.In the June 26, 2007 issue of Soap Opera Digest, Evans was asked what her favorite role was besides her current one on Passions; she answered "That's an easy one ... Tina Lord Roberts on One Life to Live because in every actor's life, you hope for a role that becomes bigger than yourself and for me, Tina was that role."ABC announced in April 2008 that Evans would soon return as Tina; she reappeared onscreen on June 11, 2008. Executive Producer Frank Valentini noted, "Even though Andrea has not appeared on OLTL since 1990, she has remained among the most requested characters to return to the show ... I welcome her home to OLTL and to the role where she made an indelible mark on our audience.Evans' departure from the series was announced on November 5, 2008.Evans and ABC noted that the actress' return was always set to be short-term, as her "life, family and home" are in California while One Life to Live taped in New York City.[18] Valentini continued in a statement, "The character of Tina is a very important part of the OLTL canvas ... [If] there is an opportunity to have her — Tina and Andrea — return at a future date, the show would be happy to explore it. Evans' last appearance was on November 25, 2008.]On April 6, 2010, TVGuide.com announced that Evans would be returning to The Young and the Restless, not as Patty Williams, but as Evans' The Bold and the Beautiful character Tawny. The one-episode stint aired on May 12, 2010. On November 8 of the same year, it was announced that Evans would be temporarily returning to The Bold and the Beautiful as Tawny. While still appearing in recurring capacity on B&B, Evans reprised the role of Tina on OLTL on September 27, 2011, as the series was ending its run.[22][23] In the story, her character Tina was reunited with her 1980s supercouple partner,

To look at the lives of Brooke, Elizabeth, and Susan, one may think they have it all. They've made their mark in the city of Manhattan and are living the good life. But a closer look uncovers a variety of challenges—Brooke questions her marriage as she embarks on a new venture; Elizabeth receives a shattering diagnosis and remakes herself to recover some semblance of identity; Susan admits that her sexual and romantic preferences do not lie exclusively with men. Each of these characters has their own journey, and it's in confronting it that we get “Friends with Issues,” written by Meredith Berlin and available as of Jan. 24.   I'm a little ways into the book and I found myself drawn in by the realistic cast and intertwining plots. Meredith and I talk about the creation process for each character and how it was fueled by her own experiences. We look at her many years as the editor-in-chief of Seventeen Magazine and Soap Opera Digest and how it helped prepare her for the role of novelist, as well as the lessons to be learned.

In this episode, Amber is getting real and vulnerable with celebrity makeup artist and CEO of Pretty Girl Makeup, Christina Flach. If you have ever experienced tragedy or darker moments in life, and someone has made the suggestion to just “snap out of it,” it can truly be frustrating. As a badass mom and CEO, Christina lets us know that these moments are not something we can just snap out of– it takes conscious thought and intentional practice to get through these valleys, all while leaning on friends and family.  Christina has experienced the loss of both her son, Beau, and her husband, professional tennis player, Ken Flach. For Christina, it came down to relying on friends and family and her disciplined lifestyle. This Mama used her pain and turned it into purpose for her family by taking care of herself first. It is not selfish to take care of yourself, like Christina says, “I'm a better everything when I have taken care of myself.” This isn't to say that it was an easy path to take. Choosing a path of happiness was a mindset shift that took time, but was ultimately necessary for her family that she still had to take care of. Small choices like being grateful for the time you have with your loved ones is something Christina repeatedly thought even saying, “You don't know how long you have on this earth with friends or family, so don't f*** it up!”  Christina is a shining example of beautiful resilience. With everything she has been through, she has come out of it with purpose. A purpose to spread awareness of Sepsis. A purpose to take care of herself so she can take care of her family. A purpose for business. A purpose to live life happily. How can you turn your pain into purpose? You in, Mama? Tune in for more! Wellness Quote “As mothers, our happiness affects everybody, and so, if we're a disaster, it's going to affect the kids.” –Christina Flach Key Highlights Just because Christina chose to be happy rather than miserable after such a tragic loss, she still took the time to grieve. It just didn't come at the expense of the rest of her family; As the adage goes, “happy wife, happy life,” something similar can be said for mothers in a family unit. When a mom is down, the family is down more than likely. This is a beautiful responsibility; We are not guaranteed anything in this life. It is a choice to be grateful for the time we had with ones that have passed. It is a choice to be happy rather than sad or miserable; When it comes to our health, no one will advocate for us better than ourselves. If we feel that something is off, we should demand to be treated or to be heard; Make caring for yourself a non-negotiable. It is not a selfish act to care for oneself– we can be a better everything for ourselves and our families when we have taken care of ourselves first. Did she predict Stephanie and Ryan's breakup? Did she predict a long, successful romance for Stephanie and Harris? And what about the other 90 Day Fiancé couples? Kiki and Kibbitz sat down with the charming Maria Shaw, Stephanie Davison's Psychic friend (who is also the author of 9 books and serves as the horoscope columnist for the National Enquirer and Soap Opera Digest, among her other credits), to get her "reading" on the situation. Maria gives us Mary and Brianna their own eerily accurate astrological readings, spills some behind-the-scenes tea (oh yeah, she was worried about Baby Mama...no wonder Harris was sweating bullets!), and gives us her predictions on the future of some other 90 Day faves. She also tells us what she thinks about Stephanie's current legal problems and how they'll pan out. Listen now!

I’m so honored and delighted to welcome one of my closest friends whom I truly admire, love, and adore, our friendship spans over three decades., Today, I welcome Emmy Award-winning Actress, Director, Producer, and Author Crystal Chappell.Crystal is currently working on the successful soap opera digital series “Venice”, which is going into its 7th season, She’s also working on, “It girls on the stoop”  and “Beacon hill”. BIO: Chappell's first daytime appearance was as a day player on All My Children in 1989. In a July 2006 interview in industry magazine Soap Opera Digest, Chappell recalled actor Maurice Benard helping her through her first scenes. After a brief run on Santa Barbara in 1990, (she played a classmate of Eden's who died of an ice overdose), Chappell was cast as Dr. Carly Manning Alamain (Katerina von Leuschner) on Days of Our Lives. She portrayed the role from June 1990 to October 1993. Chappell and future husband Michael Sabatino met on Days of Our Lives, where he played villain Lawrence Alamain.Chappell was front-burner for most of her time on the show, first when her character Carly was featured in a romance with lead character Bo Brady (Peter Reckell, Robert Kelker-Kelly), and then in a complex, Byzantine storyline that featured her heretofore unknown secret identity as a European blueblood. The story culminated in a controversial plot that had Carly buried alive by Lawrence's aunt Vivian (Louise Sorel)Chappell's next role was as Maggie Carpenter on One Life to Live from October 1995 through September 1997. The character of Maggie was created for Chappell, and she was again paired with a romantic lead on the show, Max Holden (James DePaiva). Her main storyline revolved around the tension between her burgeoning romantic relationship and her plans to profess vows as a nun. From July 2, 1999 to September 18, 2009, she played complex villainess/anti-heroine Olivia Spencer on Guiding Light. The role of Olivia was initially only intended to be a short-term role, but Chappell's portrayal was so popular she was signed to a contract. She won a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Daytime Drama for her work as Olivia in 2002 and was nominated again in the same category in 2005 and 2006. In 2007, she earned her first nomination in the Outstanding Lead Actress category.

Kim Zimmer and Robert Newman are known by millions as daytime's Josh and Reva, supercouple of the CBS drama Guiding Light. Since GL went off the air for good in 2009 (with Robert and Kim in the very last scenes of the series), the pair moved on to new gigs on stage and TV - some of them together!Except for a couple of breaks, Robert spent 28 years on Guiding Light as Josh; Kim spent 21 years in Springfield and hauled away four Daytime Emmys for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series. In this visit to The Richard Piet Show, Robert - who was nominated for two Soap Opera Digest awards and four Daytime Emmys in his role as Josh - talks about the effects of COVID-19 on the industry and what he's doing next (at least a little about it!). He and Kim also speak frankly of their feelings about Guiding Light's cancellation. At its end, GL was the longest running daytime drama on TV - having started on radio in 1937, then moving to TV in 1952.You will also hear them speak fondly of The Barn Theatre in Augusta, Michigan where summer stock audiences have enjoyed them year after - sometimes in the same production. Robert and Kim have traveled the country visiting similar stages and audiences from coast to coast.

Christina Flauch, the CED of Pretty Girl Makeup, has had numerous blows that would devastate most people. One Christmas morning, without warning, her baby died in his crib. Another was the news that her husband, Ken Flauch, was dying of sepsis. Her story is one that everyone who has loved and lost needs to hear. Christina is also a celebrity makeup artist, a board member at LAFACE Skincare, fashion correspondent for Soap Opera Digest, and a fashion commentator.   How could this have happened? After the loss of her son, her husband left her unable to deal with his grief and they divorced. Christina was fortunate enough to find and marry the love of her life, Ken Flauch. But it was short-lived when he died in 2018, from what could have been prevented - sepsis. Not only was this her loss but the world lost an incredible man, Olympic Gold Medalist, and champion on the doubles circuit. Since then, Christina has dedicated herself to raising awareness about the symptoms of sepsis and the importance of seeking medical attention immediately, and changing policies, so patients have better access to quick care in emergencies like the one her family faced. Christina has over 20 years of makeup artistry experience. She has an impressive client list, including Hillary Swant, Miley Cyrus, Renee Zellweger, Italian Vogue, Forbes, TIME, Gucci - and the list goes on. Her interview is raw, honest, and compelling. Her story is heart-wrenching. Her tears are real. But her encouragement and inspiration are unparalleled:

Where Hollywood Hides: Television | Movies | Music | Show Business | Writing | Producing | Directing | Acting

Susan Sullivan—perhaps the most prolific television actress of this generation or any other—joins the podcast in what is truly a personal reunion with Bob & Suzanne. It’s a free-wheeling, in-depth conversation that will take you from Susan’s Long Island origins to Hollywood’s red carpets. Uniquely candid and straightforward, Susan talks about her childhood dreams of someday becoming an actress...and then details exactly how she made her dreams come true. With wit, charm, and unabashed talent, it didn’t take Susan Sullivan long to go from college theatricals to the Broadway stage opposite Dustin Hoffman, to a Universal Studios contract and a starring role in television’s daytime soap A World Apart. In this interview, you’ll hear how Susan—while starring in Another World—learned the lesson of “being prepared” that she has carried her through more than 300 film and television appearances. Her list of credits is far too long to list here (check them out at imdb.com), but they include roles in Midway, The Incredible Hulk, Rich Man, Poor Man, Falcon Crest—where her portrayal of “Maggie Gioberti” won her multiple Soap Opera Digest awards—and most recently as “Martha Rogers” co-starring with Nathan Fillion on ABC-TV’s Castle. Susan Sullivan candidly shares her personal philosophy about the acting craft and the need for us all to “be in the moment of your life.” What she has to say will inspire anyone with ambitions to excel on any stage of life. Her remarks are far more than “acting tips”; they describe the life journey of an eminently successful, fulfilled artist that serves as a lesson in Life 101. Perhaps inspired by her life partner psychologist and best-selling author Connell Cowan, Susan emerges as far more than an erstwhile Playboy Bunny who made good as an actress; she’s someone who understands herself and appreciates “the moments” of our lives as few Hollywood stars ever have. Be sure to visit directly with Susan on her Twitter page (@realSSullivan) where she interacts with the world, shares her opinions, and enjoys her latest role as “the actor as teacher.”

The role won her the “Soap Opera Digest” Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in 1998. Evans was nominated for two additional “Soap Opera Digest” awards — Hottest Female Star in 1993 and Favorite Daytime Supercouple on a Daytime Serial — shared with Vincent Irizarry (ex-Lujack, “Guiding Light”) in 1986. After the cancellation of “Another World,” Evans took time off to focus on her family and moved back to California following her husband, an L.A.-based cameraman for CNBC. She returned briefly to acting in 2000 when she played Patsy Ramsey in the made-for-TV movie “Getting Away with Murder: The JonBenet Ramsey Mystery.” To the delight of her fans she came back to daytime in 2003 to play Mimi's trashy mother Bonnie Lockhart on ”Days of our Lives.” Bonnie left Salem in early 2007, but Adrienne soon returned to town. In 2008 she was again nominated for an Emmy, but this time for the dual roles of Adrienne Kiriakis and Bonnie Lockhart. This was a first for daytime since the characters were not on the air at the same time. She appeared briefly on “As the World Turns” in 2009, before returning once again to “Days of our Lives” as Adrienne Kiriakis. At the 2010 Daytime Emmys in Las Vegas, Evans was voted by TV Guide as the “Best Dressed All Around” for the 4-day celebration of the Daytime Emmys with its Pre-Emmy parties and after-parties.
