The officials blamed defective wiring although lights were still burning after the fire started. The official report stated that the children died in the fire. However no bones were found in the residue and there was no smell of burning flesh during or after the fire. What was the motive of the law officers involved? What did they have to gain by making us suffer all of these years of injustice? In 1961, George Carroll, a 30-year-old U.S. Army veteran and father of six, vanished without a trace from his family's Long Island home on Olive Street, leaving behind a wife and young children, including his eight-month-old son Michael. For decades, the Carroll children were told their father had abandoned them, but unanswered questions lingered as the family endured years of silence, abuse, and buried secrets after their mother, Dorothy Carroll, remarried the family's handyman, Richard Darress. Driven by a lifelong search for truth, Michael Carroll eventually bought the family home and, alongside his sister Jean, pursued answers through neighbors, rumors, and even psychics—until a chilling revelation led Michael's sons, Mike Carroll Jr. and Chris Carroll, to dig beneath the basement floor in 2018. The State argues the district court correctly allowed evidence related to the murder of Charles Vallow and the attempted killing of Brandon Boudreaux, not to show criminal propensity, but to establish a pattern, plan, knowledge, and financial motive that closely mirrors the crimes involving JJ Vallow, Tylee Ryan, and Tammy Daybell. Prosecutors emphasize the defense had long-standing access to this evidence, defeating claims of unfair surprise or prejudice.The episode then breaks down Vallow's speedy trial argument using the Barker v. Wingo balancing test. While the length of delay slightly favors Vallow, the State explains that most of the delay was caused by the defense, including multiple competency proceedings and a change of venue. Vallow also failed to show any actual prejudice to her defense.Ultimately, the State asks the appellate court to affirm Lori Vallow Daybell's conviction, arguing that none of the claims raised on appeal warrant reversal. In April 1974, 16-year-old Danita Ann Cash drove to the abandoned Trinity River Bridge, better known in local lore as “Screaming Bridge,” to pick up her brother from target practice. But instead of finding the boys, she encountered a stranger with a shotgun who forced his way into her car. What began as a routine favor turned into a harrowing abduction attempt that Danita survived only through courage, calm decisions, and faith. In September 2024, Thalia Graves filed a lawsuit against Sean "Diddy" Combs, accusing him and his former head of security, Joseph Sherman, of raping her in the summer of 2001. The lawsuit claims that Graves, then 25, was lured to a meeting at Combs' Bad Boy Records studio, where she was allegedly drugged, bound, and raped by both men. On the night of September 19, 1952, 22 year old Betty Shanks stepped off a tram in the Brisbane suburb of Grange and began the short walk home to her parents' house, less than 400 metres away. This episode originally aired on October 28, 2019. On July 6, 2019, 25-year-old Chance Englebert spent the day golfing with family in Gering, Nebraska. He later left with his wife, Baylee, and their infant son to stop by Baylee's grandparents' house. According to Baylee, it was in her grandparents' driveway around 7:30 p.m. that Chance got out of the car and walked away. He was captured on surveillance video walking in Terrytown and was never seen again. On October 10, 2025, more than six years after Chance Englebert disappeared, his remains were discovered below a steep cliff in a remote area of Scotts Bluff National Monument. The location was approximately three to five miles from where he was last seen on surveillance video in Terrytown, though some route-based estimates of the distance he would have traveled on foot place it closer to eight miles. Authorities say evidence at the scene was consistent with a fall of up to several hundred feet, and multiple forensic specialists concluded his death was accidental, caused by blunt force trauma from a rapid deceleration event. Investigators reported no evidence of foul play.
