Fr. Mike introduces us to the Book of Proverbs while reflecting on Israel's lack of devotion to God and the Book of the Law. Much like God gave the Book of the Law to Israel, he's given the Bible to us to continue following him faithfully. Today's readings are 2 Kings 22, 2 Chronicles 33, and Proverbs 7. The Robertson family shares their heartbreak over the devastating floods in Texas and the tragic loss of life across the state. With summer camp holding such a special place in their hearts—having shaped their own family in countless ways—the Robertsons are especially heartbroken over the tragedy at Camp Mystic and grieve deeply with the families of the young girls who lost their lives. The guys turn to Scripture to reflect on the fragility of life and the eternal promise of resurrection. Zach explores the role of “red letters” in Scripture and if Jesus' quoted words are more important or powerful than the rest of the Bible. Plus, has the resurrection already happened? Redemption E5 — For many centuries, ancient Israel lived in the land of promise but consistently broke their covenant with Yahweh. The prophet Isaiah warned the people that their corruption and idolatry would lead them back into slavery—not to Egypt but to the empires of Assyria and Babylon. After these two exiles happen, the prophecies in the book of Isaiah shift surprisingly from correction and warning to comfort and hope. In this episode, Jon and Tim explore Isaiah 40-66. These chapters contain a higher density of the word “redemption” than any other part of the Hebrew Bible.CHAPTERSRecap and Setup for Isaiah 40-66 (0:00-7:38)Comfort From Yahweh the Redeemer (7:38-25:33)The Redeemer of Vulnerable Israel (25:33-41:02)REFERENCED RESOURCESYou can view annotations for this episode—plus our entire library of videos, podcasts, articles, and classes—in the BibleProject app, available for Android and iOS.Check out Tim's extensive collection of recommended books here.SHOW MUSIC“Forgotten Dreams” by Aves“Hilltops ft. What is the meaning of the resurrection of Jesus? In 1 Corinthians 15, there are three basic things Paul says about the resurrection as he answers three questions. We must confront these three questions about Jesus' resurrection: 1) did it happen? 2) what did it accomplish? and 3) what should we do about it? This sermon was preached by Dr. Timothy Keller at Redeemer Presbyterian Church on April 4, 1999. Series: The Mount; Life in the Kingdom. Scripture: 1 Corinthians 15:3-6, 20-26, 51-58. Together, with Fr. Mike, we explore the reality of Christ's true presence in the Eucharist. Fr. Mike unpacks what actually happens during the celebration of the sacrifice of the Eucharist, specifically, transubstantiation. He explains that during the Consecration, the whole substance of bread and wine becomes the whole substance of the Body and Blood of Christ. Today's readings are Catechism paragraphs 1373-1377. Earlier this year, we hosted Word on Fire's first international Evangelisation & Culture conference in London, at which Bishop Barron gave the keynote address. He focused on four themes of the Bible, examined the themes of creation, the God of Israel, right praise, and kingship. Today, we'll hear the first of those themes as we prepare for how those culminate in the person of Jesus Christ. Enjoy. Segment 1: • What makes us different from machines? Todd unpacks the doctrine of Imago Dei and how AI is blurring the lines between man and machine. • A Christianity Today issue surprisingly focuses on AI—but how helpful was it really? • Baylor gets a grant to study why Christianity "hurts" LGBT students. Todd explores the deeper problem behind that question. • AI algorithms are shaping addictive social media habits—and possibly shaping your soul. Segment 2: • What is intelligence? And what makes human intelligence unique? • Todd explains how Christians are turning to their theological catalogs to make sense of AI's rise. • With machines giving life advice and learning faster than ever, the question looms: Should they get human rights? Segment 3: • Could robots someday replace your pastor? A wild idea, but maybe not far off. • Christianity Today's AI issue wasn't all bad—Todd shares what was decent and what wasn't. • Are we made for this speed of life? Internet and urban living may be rewiring our brains in harmful ways. Segment 4: • A moment of honesty: Todd gives credit to a few C.T. articles. • But Christine Caine's “testimony” in the same issue raises red flags—comparing her sin to Judas's betrayal. • Was Jesus inviting Judas to repent? Todd tackles the theology—and calls out false narratives with clarity. ___ Thanks for listening! Wretched Radio would not be possible without the financial support of our Gospel Partners. Purchase A Jesus-Shaped Life here. Today's conversation on Back Porch Theology is the part-two sequel of An Antidote to Self-Centeredness Disguised as Spirituality. The bottom line is, it's more important than ever to embrace the gospel story as the ultimate lens through which we understand life or pretty soon everything's going to become blurry. Which underscores the new for a new kind of catechism – a fresh way to understand and communicate the concrete, biblical scaffolding of our belief system as Christ-followers. Dr. Trevin Wax calls what we're talking about today a disruptive discipleship tool…Alli and I can guarantee it'll put fresh wind in your sails. So please grab your favorite beverage and your Bible and pull your chair right next to ours on this proverbial porch – we're really glad you're here!
Do you long to go deeper in your faith and help your children fall in love with Scripture — not just the stories, but the whole story? Today Zach Windahl shares what led him to dedicate years to studying scripture. He emphasizes the importance of simplifying the Bible for others, particularly for those who feel overwhelmed or confused. After moving to Australia and enrolling in a transformative Bible study program, everything changed. He discovered how the entire Bible connects — from Genesis to Revelation — and how understanding Scripture through a Hebrew lens opens up a whole new depth of meaning. The Bible isn't random. Every story, every verse, every command points to Jesus. On this week’s Granger Smith Podcast, Granger sits down with Christian hip-hop artist, spoken word poet, and all-around encourager, Dillon Chase—and the conversation is as real as it gets. From the Texas panhandle to the heart of Oklahoma, Dillon shares his powerful testimony of growing up surrounded by addiction and pain, and how those hard roads ultimately led him straight to Jesus. Dillon gets honest about what it means to suffer as a Christian—walking through special needs parenting, prodigal children, and the reality that following Christ doesn’t mean life gets easier. In fact, sometimes the suffering goes even deeper, but God’s goodness is always greater. The guys talk about the transformation that happens when you move from “knowing about God” to really knowing Him, how true discipleship changes everything, and why the local church—and having real spiritual mentors—matters so much. Dillon opens up about his journey from secular rap to using his music and spoken word as a platform for the gospel, with encouragement from Christian hip-hop legend Lecrae and a passion to see lives changed, not just entertained. They dive into the messy beauty of church history, denominations, expository preaching, and how reading the Bible for more than just “comfort” can actually confront, challenge, and reshape our lives. Plus, Dillon performs a moving spoken word piece live on the show. If you’ve ever wrestled with suffering, struggled with church hurt, or wondered how to hold onto hope when life gets hard, this episode will encourage and equip you. What if everything you thought you knew about heaven, salvation, and Christ's power was just the beginning? Get ready to have your understanding expanded. Summary: In this deep dive into Doctrine & Covenants 76, "The Vision," we explore an expansive understanding of Jesus Christ and His infinite reach. Joseph Smith and Sidney Rigdon experienced visions that revealed Christ's ability to do "exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think," showing His wisdom, marvelous ways, and the unimaginable extent of His work of salvation. We begin by examining how we often underestimate the Savior, discovering that "beside him there is no Savior," yet His mercy and grace extend to bring everyone home except the sons of perdition. The video then unpacks the concept of "The Cosmic Christ," where Joseph and Sidney beheld the glory of the Son, witnessing that by Him, "the worlds are and were created, and the inhabitants thereof are begotten sons and daughters unto God." Next, we confront the sobering reality of "Perdition and His Sons," understanding the profound loss associated with Lucifer and the specific conditions that lead to becoming a son of perdition. This segment surprisingly reveals God's near-universal plan of salvation, emphasizing that "all the rest shall be brought forth by the resurrection of the dead." Finally, we journey through the three degrees of glory—Celestial, Terrestrial, and Telestial—receiving a breathtaking glimpse into what "heaven" truly looks like, even surpassing all understanding for the Telestial Kingdom. We'll also touch on the profound spiritual experiences that cannot be written but must be "seen and understood by the power of the Holy Spirit." Prepare to enlarge your vision of God's love, justice, and the boundless power of Christ to redeem. 0:00 Introduction and Overview 6:10 Never Underestimate Christ 16:50 The Cosmic Christ 36:28 Perdition and His Sons 52:19 Celestial Glory 1:05:23 Terrestrial Glory 1:13:13 Telestial Glory 1:29:34 What We Can and Cannot Write 1:42:34 One-Liners

In today's episode of The Atheist Experience, Forrest Valkai and Jim Barrows dive into heated discussions surrounding the definition of God, the complexities of biblical morality, and the human search for purpose, challenging callers on logical consistency and the practical implications of their beliefs. Will in the UK claims that if God isn't real, nothing is, defining God as "that which has authority of all things" and later equating it to "truth" or "objective reality." Hosts challenge the idea of "truth" having "authority" or "governance," pointing out the vagueness and the caller's confusion between a map and the territory. Can an abstract concept dictate reality?Patrick in "Flying Lemurs" (FL) suggests atheists can't go wrong by following Jesus' command to love one another, referencing 1 Corinthians. Hosts question the practical application of this vague definition of love, asking if kindness can sometimes be impatient. Why should one rely on a book that also condones slavery and genocide for moral guidance?Watcher 215 asks about "information" in biology, hinting at Stephen Meyer's intelligent design argument. Hosts dismantle Meyer's flawed definition of information, explaining that random processes can produce information and arguing that DNA, if designed, is "horribly bad." They also highlight the logical contradiction in God simultaneously keeping and not keeping a record of wrongs.Mike in "Scuttling Crabs" (SC) disagrees with Jim's interpretation of "love is not proud" from 1 Corinthians. Hosts reiterate the biblical verse's vagueness, arguing it's uselessly general for practical life. They also critique the King James Version for deliberately misrepresenting words like "slave" as "servant," questioning the Bible's reliability as a moral guide.Joshua in Arizona asks if we need God to be moral, leading to a discussion on the problem of evil and God's condonation of slavery and genocide in the Bible. Hosts press Joshua on how an "all-good, all-powerful, all-knowing" God can exist in a world with immense suffering, suggesting such a God is not worth worshipping.Owen in Canada questions how atheists find purpose without eternal life or intrinsic meaning. Hosts explain optimistic nihilism, where individuals create their own purpose, and attribute the drive to survive to evolution. They challenge the caller's argument from ignorance, asserting that personal meaning does not necessitate a divine source.Thank you for joining us this week! How to Walk Step by Step with Jesus Every Day | Song of Solomon 3:6-11What does it mean to truly follow Jesus? In this powerful sermon from Song of Solomon 3:6-11, we explore the beautiful picture of walking side by side with our King - not ahead of Him, not behind Him, but right by His side where He calls us to be.Just as God took Eve from Adam's side (not his head or his feet), Jesus the second Adam calls us to walk step by step with Him. Through the imagery of Solomon's wedding procession, we see how Christ protects, provides for, and ultimately sacrifices everything - including His life - so that we can stand by His side as His bride, the church. This isn't about earning our place through good works, but about understanding that we smell like sweet incense to God because we're IN Christ. His side was pierced so you could stand by it.Key Scripture: Song of Solomon 3:6-11, John 19:31-37, Revelation 5:9-10, Revelation 19:16 This is a public episode. All the wrongs that have been done against us by believers were avenged in the death of Jesus. Look to the cross of Christ.
What if your purpose isn't just about what you do — but how you love? In today's episode, we're diving into Ephesians 5:1–2 to uncover a purpose we often overlook: walking in the love of Christ. This kind of love isn't limited to people we agree with or those who treat us well — it's a love that mirrors the sacrifice Jesus made for us. We'll explore why loving difficult people is actually central to your calling, what Jesus meant when He said “be perfect as your Father is perfect,” and how imitating God's love changes every conversation, every encounter, and every space you walk into. If you've ever wrestled with what God wants you to do, this episode will reframe everything by showing you who He's calling you to be. Want to go deeper? God wants to empower us. Specifically, He wants us to be able to break free from addictions, cravings, and lasciviousness. Submitting to a change in identity—from who the world tells us we are to who Christ says we are—delivers us from addictive behavior. Seeing ourselves the way God sees us through Jesus changes our thinking, which subsequently changes what we do. Looking to Christ is the only way to find freedom from our sins. Watch this conversation on YouTube: https://youtu.be/ihMjsKPxdA8What if your greatest strength… is also the thing that wears you out the most?In this honest and inspiring conversation, Jerrad sits down with Michael Seifert—founder of PublicSq. and EveryLife—to talk about identity, pressure, purpose, and the hidden cost of success. Though Michael leads some of the most mission-driven companies in America, he opens up about the soul battles behind his ambition—and why Sabbath rest might be his greatest act of obedience. They talk about legacy, fatherhood, and how a rebellious teenager found Jesus at a ranch in Northern California. Michael shares how a single week transformed his relationship with his dad, the real reason behind his inner drive, and the moment he realized that working for the praises of man would eventually break him. This episode is a reminder that God doesn't just care about what you build—but who you're becoming while you build it.What You'll Learn:Why your identity can't come from what you accomplishThe four roles a dad plays (caretaker, cop, coach, consultant)How pressure to succeed impacts father-son relationshipsWhat Michael learned about humility from his dadThe beauty of building with God—and learning to restHow to lead your family while healing from your own woundsWhy starting a values-driven business invites both criticism and purposeMentioned in This Episode:J.H. When surrendered and restored, God makes possible a profound affection and love for The Things of Earth. The man who hates his wife (Luke 14:26) is thus equipped to love her as Christ loved the church (Eph. 5:25). The man who places home and hearth before Christ is trying to make his home a place where people will bite and devour one another (Gal. 5:15). This is a box that people really don’t understand as they are deciding to open it up. All they know is that the label says home and hearth, blood and soil . . . nothing but wholesome happy thoughts inside. They are blindly reacting to the globalist imperative that insists we deracinate everything and everybody, and because it is an reaction, they lurch into a flirtation with the wrong kind of blood and soil ideology.

Untie it and bring it. [3] If anyone says to you, ‘Why are you doing this?’ say, ‘The Lord has need of it and will send it back here immediately.’” [4] And they went away and found a colt tied at a door outside in the street, and they untied it. Are you controlling your emotions, or are your emotions controlling you? Emotions were created by God to enhance our lives, but they were never meant to lead us. Like an out-of-control horse, your emotions can do more harm than good if left unchecked. Join Andrew as he explains how you can—and must—rule over your emotions.
Fr. Mike recalls Hezekiah's prayer for more time and reveals how Hezekiah did not use that time wisely. We are all only given a specific amount of time on this earth, and it's up to us to use that time to become more like Christ so we can spend eternity with him in heaven. Today's readings are 2 Kings 21, 2 Chronicles 32, and Psalm 145. For the complete reading plan, visit ascensionpress.com/bibleinayear. Together, we continue our exploration of the sacrificial memorial of the sacrament of the Eucharist. Fr. Mike reiterates that the whole Church, both visible and invisible, is united in the Sacrifice of the Eucharist. He also further unpacks the importance of a quote from St. Ignatius of Antioch, which states that the offering of the sacrifice of the Eucharist must be united with the apostolic succession of our Pope and bishop. Today's readings are Catechism paragraphs 1369-1372. This episode has been found to be in conformity with the Catechism by the Institute on the Catechism, under the Subcommittee on the Catechism, USCCB. No one has ever lived who was more worthy of honor than Jesus; and no one has been dishonored more. But he triumphed by entrusting himself to God.
Catholic apologist Trent Horn argues that sola fide leads to spiritual insecurity and confusion about salvation. Michael Horton, Bob Hiller, Walter Strickland, and Justin Holcomb respond and share what the Reformers meant by "faith alone.” Using Scripture and the confessions, the hosts show why the assurance of salvation rests in the finished work of Christ, not our performance. The Shroud of Turin is a length of linen, believed by many to be the burial cloth of Jesus of Nazareth. Its most famous feature is the blurry imprint of a man's face, which resembles the pictures of Jesus that have passed down to us over the centuries. Revered by millions, the Shroud is the most scientifically studied object in the world, but why does its recorded history only reach back to the 1350s? Where did it go in the intervening centuries? And will we ever be able to prove whether it's a real relic, or medieval forgery? This is a Short History Of The Shroud of Turin. A Noiser Production. Written by Nicola Rayner. And as he was leaving Jericho with his disciples and a great crowd, Bartimaeus, a blind beggar, the son of Timaeus, was sitting by the roadside. [47] And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out and say, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” [48] And many rebuked him, telling him to be silent. But he cried out all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!” [49] And Jesus stopped and said, “Call him.” And they called the blind man, saying to him, “Take heart. Get up; he is calling you.” [50] And throwing off his cloak, he sprang up and came to Jesus. [51] And Jesus said to him, “What do you want me to do for you?” And the blind man said to him, “Rabbi, let me recover my sight.” [52] And Jesus said to him, “Go your way; your faith has made you well.” And immediately he recovered his sight and followed him on the way. For over 50 years, For the Strength of Youth has been a guide for generations of Latter-day Saint youth. I always keep a copy in my pocket, and I share it with people who are curious about our standards. It has been updated and refreshed to better cope with the challenges and temptations of our day. The new version of For the Strength of Youth is available online in 50 different languages and will also be available in print. It will be a significant help for making choices in your life. Please embrace it as your own and share it with your friends. This new version of For the Strength of Youth is subtitled A Guide for Making Choices. To be very clear, the best guide you can possibly have for making choices is Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is the strength of youth. So the purpose of For the Strength of Youth is to point you to Him. It teaches you eternal truths of His restored gospel—truths about who you are, who He is, and what you can accomplish with His strength. It teaches you how to make righteous choices based on those eternal truths.13 It's also important to know what For the Strength of Youth does not do. It doesn't make decisions for you. It doesn't give you a “yes” or “no” about every choice you might ever face. For the Strength of Youth focuses on the foundation for your choices. It focuses on values, principles, and doctrine instead of every specific behavior. The Lord, through His prophets, has always been guiding us in that direction. He is pleading with us to “increase [our] spiritual capacity to receive revelation.”14 He is inviting us to “hear Him.”15 He is calling us to follow Him in higher and holier ways.16 And we are learning in a similar way every week in Come, Follow Me. Thanks to our faithful donors, we are able to provide food, housing, healthcare, education, fresh water, emergency relief, micro-enterprise solutions and much more. We are proud to have fed millions of people and provided more than 15.7 billion dollars in aid. Our faith inspires us to be an organization built on compassion, and motivated by love. Our mission is to bring relief to the poorest of the poor in the countries where we serve. We strive to reflect God's unconditional love. It's a sacrificial love that embraces all people regardless of race or religion. We believe that we can show His love by serving the “least of these” on this earth as Christ challenged us to do in Matthew 25. We pray that by God's grace, and with your support, we can continue to bring relief to the suffering and hope to the hopeless. --------------------------------------------------------
