Australia is going to force the streamers to make Australian content It'll focus on those with more than 1 million Australian subscribers, which means Netflix, Disney+, and Amazon Prime Video will all be included. The law will require them to spend at least 10% of their total Australian expenditure or 7.5% of their Australian revenue on new Australian drama, children's, documentary, arts, and educational programs. The bill was not introduced earlier as the Aussies first waited out the 2024 US presidential election and later feared that its winner, Donald Trump, could counterattack with tariffs. Elon Musk's trillion-dollar pay package Tesla shareholders overwhelmingly approved a pay package that could make CEO Elon Musk, already the world's richest person, the world's first trillionaire. His new deal has some rather lofty targets and if met would give him stock valued at a trillion dollars. These include: Delivering 20 million Tesla vehicles and one million robots Getting 10 million subscriptions to Tesla's Full Self-Driving feature Bringing one million self-driving Robotaxi vehicles into commercial operation Earning up to $400bn in core profit Eventually lifting Tesla's overall market value to $8.5tn, currently $1.4tn Elon is calling this not a new chapter but a "new book" for the company, really centring around autonomous projects. However, when a busload of prisoners – including notorious gangster Marion Bishop (Laurence Fishburne) - are forced to take refuge at said precinct because of a brutal New Year's Eve snowstorm, Jake suddenly finds himself called back into action when mysterious masked gunmen assault the police station… After comparing and contrasting this film with John Carpenter's original 1976 classic (itself a loose remake of RIO BRAVO), the guys discuss the myriad DIE HARD (and DIE HARD 2) DNA on display in this pressure-cooker siege scenario, while musing on the possibility that the echoes of previous wars (Vietnam, the Iraq invasion) may be reverberating inside both versions of the story. Welcome back to Lez Hang Out, the podcast that is investing in a VHS player for no particular reason.  This week, co-hosts Leigh (@lshfoster) and Ellie (@elliebrigida) hang out with Daviel Shy (@solsticetits), a multi-disciplinary artist who wrote and directed over a dozen short films, runs and curates L.M.N.O.P (Lesbian Movie Night Ongoing Project), and co-founded DAYLiGHT FiLMs, a kinky, queer, analogue pivot into the adult entertainment industry. We talk in-depth about Daviel's new series The Lovers, a 7-episode series available on Prime Video, that she brought to life during the pandemic lockdowns.  The Lovers follows the story of a laid off sex-worker who falls for a fitness witch in 2020's L.A. When asked her elevator pitch for the series, Daviel explained that it's basically a kinkier, gayer Skins and after watching it, we fully agree with that description. Prior to creating The Lovers, Daviel had a lot of experience with writing, directing and producing, but with the barriers of the lockdowns, she decided to also star in the series, a first that helped her realize she actually wanted to do what her character was doing.
