Think back to when you were young. Can you remember a moment when an adult truly listened to you, took your opinion seriously, and made you feel like your voice mattered? Many of us don't have those memories—at least, not until much later in life. But for a child who hears, “You are an expert in your own life. Your voice matters,” the impact can be profound. That's exactly what UNICEF's Child-Friendly Cities Initiative is working toward. And just recently, Decatur, GA, became one of the first cities in the U.S. to receive this designation. But what does it actually mean for a city to be ‘child-friendly'? And how do we ensure that youth participation isn't just symbolic, but truly embedded in governance, policy, and community life?Today, we're joined by  Danielle Goldberg, Managing Director of the Community Alliance for Child Rights, and Anne Day, who is the Senior Director of Research, Evaluation, and Research Partnerships at UNICEF USA.Skip Ahead:(01:31) Why children's voices are often missing in governance, and how this impacts policymaking and funding decisions.(7:56) How the “Child-Friendly Cities Initiative” helps local governments adopt child-centered governance strategies.(13:10) How are cities selected.(15:25) How did Decatur, GA achieve Child-Friendly City status, and what unique steps did they take to become more child-friendly?(18:19) What are the challenges in evaluating large-scale, systems-level initiatives like CFCI, and what indicators define success?Connect with Danielle and Anne and learn more about the Child Friendly Cities Initiative.Read the full show notes HERE.P.S. In the nonprofit and social sector, data is everywhere—whether it's survey responses, attendance records, financial data, or program outcomes. But numbers alone don't drive change. It's how you interpret and apply them that makes the difference. As part of a three-part series, we previously discussed the strategist, and now we're focusing on the analyst—the person who turns data into clear insights that inform decisions. While many people take on this role in an organization, it's not always just the “data person.” Anyone who interacts with data needs to embody the characteristics of an analyst to become a strong, data-driven leader. For our first episode, music industry savants and known Scots John Niven and Chlöe Walsh look back on “Baggy” and how the Happy Mondays and The Stone Roses revitalized indie music and helped cement the rise of rave culture in the industrial, Dickensian landscape that also birthed The Smiths, Joy Division, and The Buzzcocks, as well as Oasis a decade later. In this episode of the Multifamily Collective, Mike Brewer explores the concept of leapfrogging—taking a giant leap forward by bypassing traditional stages of development. Drawing parallels to how underdeveloped regions use technology like drones and 3D printing to overcome infrastructure challenges, Mike explains how AI enables multifamily businesses to leapfrog outdated systems and processes. Remember when the tech wave first crashed onto the shores of multifamily, bringing automated leasing agents, CRM systems, and fraud detection? Many companies may have missed the initial wave, but now AI and large language models (LLMs) offer a chance to catch up—and even get ahead. With AI, you can build custom software solutions tailored to your property's needs without the high costs and time associated with traditional partners. Imagine creating bespoke systems on your own or hiring an expert to guide the process for a fraction of what you'd pay today. Sure, these new systems might start out less sophisticated than established ones, but they'll get better with each iteration—just like AI learns and improves over time. Mike reminds us that this is the power of being alive right now: the chance to shape the next generation of property management with tools that evolve alongside your business needs. Ready to leapfrog into the future of multifamily? Hit like, subscribe, and join us as we explore the game-changing potential of AI in property management. Stay ahead of the curve—let's build the future together! --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/mike-brewer/support

Folks, you're missing out if you haven't seen "The Fall Guy." The Geeks recently saw the new action/romantic-comedy in the theater (one of them twice), and now they're reviewing & recommending it to you, our discerning stunt team. - This movie is part action movie, part romantic comedy. For the action part, it's a "love letter" for stunt people. What did the Geeks think about the stunts in the movie? - Which scenes, stunts, moments, techniques, and running gags did the Geeks enjoy in the movie? - When Todd went to see this a 2nd time by himself, how successful was his attempt to write notes in a dark theater? - Three of the Geeks saw the movie, but only two Geeks could make it for the review. What was one of the complaints of the Geek who couldn't record? - How convincing was the romantic comedy portion? Were the performances, dialogue, and editing, good enough to fill in any blanks that we didn't see on camera, while Colt & Jody were apart? Did Ryan Gossling & Emily Blunt have good chemistry when their characters were reunited? - How well were the action & romantic comedy aspects blended together? Through the writing, directing, and editing, did the two genres fit together well? - In the spoiler section, what was one Geek's issues with the plot and the movie-within-a-movie, "Metalstorm"? - What comparison did one Geek make between "The Fall Guy" and "Lord of the Rings: Return of the King"? - What surprise twist at the end did one Geek think was one of the best jokes in the movie? - Was "Metalstorm" more "Mad Max," "Rebel Moon," or a little of both? - If Dave Teague were still alive (not to be confused with Dave Shutt, who's still with us; he's fine, folks), what would Dave have thought about this movie, in general, and also about the end credits being refreshingly short? - How would this movie have been received if it had come out in the '90s? - What grade would Dave Teague have given this movie? - And, bringing topics together, what ultra-bloody 1980s action movie, still a Dave Teague pick left on our list, did the Geeks randomly roll for a future review? Listen now for the answers to these and other death-defying, safety-tested questions as we take the plunge with, "The Fall Guy." NOTE: After the SPOILER SECTION starts, you can SKIP AHEAD to 01:08:33 for SPOILER-FREE ratings, the roll for a future topic, salutations, and some trivia about the Fall Guy theme song, "The Unknown Stuntman." Hey friends! Welcome to Girls' Night! I'm so excited about today's episode. Today we're talking about how to stay present even if you're not exactly where you want to be in life.  I'm excited about this episode because if you're anything like me, when you're going through a waiting season, all you want to do is skip forward and get to the “good part” where it feels like you have your life together again. Or maybe you want to skip ahead because what you're currently facing — in your job, in parenting, in a relationship —  is too hard, too messy, or not at all where you pictured you would be at this time in your life. Friends, I get it. I've been there too. But the more waiting seasons I've lived through, the more that I've discovered that they're not something to wish away. They're actually something to lean into, and today's guest is going to teach all about this! Our guest for today's episode is my new friend, Ruth Chou Simons. Ruth is a bestselling author of several books and Bible studies, an artist, entrepreneur, podcaster, and speaker, using each of these platforms to sow the Word of God into people's hearts. I've been a fan of Ruth for years and love the work that she does. Her newest book is called, Now and Not Yet: Pressing in When You're Waiting, Wanting, and Restless for More.  In the description she says this book is showing us how to “embrace the biblical truth that someday is made up of thousands of right nows” and that's really what this episode is all about! If you're feeling stuck in your current circumstances, I hope today's conversation is the reminder you need that no season is wasted and it's possible to grow in the right here and right now.
