Hey Winner, Have you ever worn your busyness like a badge of honor like I have? I used to think that was the cool thing to do. Busy was cool. Oftentimes, being busy and having a packed schedule can make us FEEL like we're living a full and productive life, right? But hustling between events and commitments and all the things doesn't necessarily mean we're living life to the fullest at all — actually, we probably aren't. Today I wanted to bring you a conversation I had with Michelle Grosser on her podcast The Calm Mom where we talk about how to ditch the hustle culture and intentionally plan our goals based on our season of life. In this episode you'll learn how to protect yourself from hustle culture while working toward your goals, how to turn your passion and purpose into impact and income, and how to craft a personalized game plan that works for the capacity you have in different seasons. Mike "C-Roc" is joined by Michelle Grosser, a distinguished attorney, pastor, nervous system expert, certified master life coach, and host of the acclaimed The Calm Mom podcast. Michelle brings a wealth of experience, offering insights into how our past experiences and wiring influence our responses to triggers. She explains the importance of operating from a regulated nervous system to achieve intentional responses rather than reacting from a place of survival. Michelle delves into her journey, discussing her transition from a French Catholic upbringing in a remote town in Maine to founding a non-denominational church with her husband. The conversation explores how Michelle's early skepticism of religious institutions evolved into a profound, personal relationship with her faith, independent of traditional denominational constraints. She reflects on how societal and religious expectations can sometimes obscure the essence of spiritual practice, emphasizing the need for personal exploration and authentic connection with one's beliefs. This episode provides a compelling discussion on the intersection of personal development, faith, and the quest for genuine understanding amidst evolving life experiences. Hey Team, Michelle Grosser from the Calm Mom podcast is here with invaluable strategies and tips for all you high-achieving parents in the trenches trying to heal your kids. We need to be there for our kids not just physically, but mentally, with a calm demeanor and a sparkle of joy to help them heal and feel the same. It all starts with us. Michelle explains that our kids share our nervous systems until the age of 7. This makes our work vitally important because we must lead by example. By regulating our nervous systems, we help our kids regulate theirs, promoting healing and enabling them to live fulfilling lives. Being present and showing up as the confident, mature, and stable people we want our children to become means we must mirror that behavior. What is the connection between our nervous system and how we experience motherhood? How can we process and release our emotions in a healthy way and then teach that to our children? How can we proactively manage our triggers so we can feel less overwhelmed? These are just some of the questions I am diving into today with Michelle Grosser. Michelle is a Nervous System Expert, Certified Master Life Coach, and host of The Calm Mom Podcast. Through somatic and neuroscience-based modalities, she coaches women through discovering what's beneath their triggers and emotions, so they can begin their healing journey and find peace in the present. She deeply believes that the most profound thing we can offer our children is our own healing. She and her husband Jeff have two daughters and live in Miami, FL. In this episode, Michelle shares simple ways we can equip ourselves to recognize nervous system dysregulation by our body's somatic cues and combat that dysregulation in a “language” that our body understands through somatic techniques. This is such an informative and tactical conversation you don't want to miss! GIVEAWAY ALERT! Michelle Grosser is a former attorney and law professor turned mom, motherhood coach, and host of “The Calm Mom” podcast, in which she discusses high-impact habits, work-life rhythms, parenting, marriage, spirituality, and more. Michelle talks about her mom Nancy, who worked while raising five children, which resulted in burnout, and later she divorced her husband – only to fall in love with him again. From Nancy, we learn not to give all of us away until there's nothing left; that we have infinite worth just by our existence; and that we're more resilient than we think. Michelle also talks about parenting and staying calm; about the loss of identity we sometimes experience in motherhood; and the way our mothers' decisions influence our lives. Do you pride yourself on your ability to “tuck your crazy?” Would you rather boil in rage or drown in overwhelm than be exposed as a Drama Queen? We're conditioned from an early age to suppress inconvenient feelings. Whoever can put up with the most sh!t and still smile wins. My guest today is Michelle Grosser–a recovering perfectionist and nervous system regulation coach. She shares how her fear of being seen as “emotional” crippled her ability to function as a full time litigator, part time law professor, wife and mother of two babies. She discovered that “doing too much” wasn't the problem. It was feeling too little. Prioritizing the care of her nervous system didn't require her to let go of her dreams. It enhanced her ability to achieve them. In this episode, Michelle shares: How to pinpoint the REAL source of your stress It's not emotions that are so scary. It's your fear of losing control. How to soothe your nervous system with 10-minute /day habits. The difference between mindset and somatic tools and which work best. DAY 5! WE DID IT! You have now learned how to map your nervous system, evaluated basic needs, learned and practiced new skills, and practiced them with your children. Next, we learn how to use all of this information to create a supportive routine. We have a toolbox that we're filling and we need a wide variety of tools. DAY 5! WE DID IT! You have now learned how to map your nervous system, evaluated basic needs, learned and practiced new skills, and practiced them with your children. Next, we learn how to use all of this information to create a supportive routine. We have a toolbox that we're filling and we need a wide variety of tools. Just like you can't build an entire house with just a hammer, not every skill is appropriate for every situation. We want you to list your tools and the things you've been practicing. You've got the foundation, your basic needs are met, you've selected and practiced new skills, and NOW is learning to do it together. "How do I teach my kids to manage their emotions?" Well, we have to take it back to co-regulating. Co-regulating is when we use our nervous system to help support our child's nervous system and enter a calm state. Basically, your ability to manage your emotions will make a HUGE impact on your child's ability to manage their emotions. We have good news for you, it's never too late to start teaching your kids how to co-regulate. Here are some examples of what we discuss in this podcast sprint: our experience learning how to manage our emotions later in life (30's), narrating our child's experience using feelings words, modeling the use of skills to manage our emotions, modeling of the labeling our emotional experience and physical sensations with each emotion, modeling and practicing new skills by ourselves and with our children. Holidays and celebrations are a time for joy, but they can also be a time of disappointment. One of the biggest things that used to stress me out about the holidays was all the expectations I had for myself and for others. I would expect I needed to be happy, laughing, joyful the whole day or the day was a disappointment. And I would expect my family would give me reasons to feel all of those things. But of course, that's not realistic and a great way to be let-down. Here's some quick tips to have less change of being bummed out on these special days. Step Three! This is where most parents and people get off track. Did you know that if you attempt too much change too quickly you're actually making it harder on yourself? Often, we want to start here, jumping in to use all the skills. "What do I do at the moment?!" "What are the skills?!" If you haven't, go back to day one to make sure you have a solid foundation of understanding of how to support your nervous system before attempting new skills. Start with finding things you're already interested in and find ways to incorporate them into your daily routine. We talk through habit stacking and some of our favorite skills. Specifically, we emphasize practicing skills while already calm so your brain will have access to them at the moment you need them to support your nervous system. Here are a handful of names of skills we discuss: patterned breathing, diaphragmatic breathing, taking a pause (utilizing STOP), progressive muscle relaxation, sensory cocooning, cold exposure, and ways to tailor skills specific to your child. Find out more about these skills from our Calm Mom, Happy Kids class here: https://candid-truth-726.myflodesk.com/

Interview was done March 22, 2023 I love meeting new people willing to share their “lemon to lemonade” experience! This story is about Chanelle who was really struggling as a mom. She had four kids in six years, and was super stressed out, depleted, and not her best self. She was not happy and ready for something else so she started having regular consistent time alone! Chanelle learned that small morning routines grew to incorporate all that was important and now she teaches other overwhelmed moms these keystone habits! There is hope. What message do you get from this interview? Website: https://chanelleneilson.com Instagram: @chanelleneilsoncoaching ABOUT the LemonAid Stand: Heidi started hosting the LemonAid Stand live radio talk show, over 20 years ago, in 1999! It all came about when Heidi was dealing with thoughts of suicide, inadequacy, and dealing with infertility. She realized as she reached out to others and heard their stories, she would be uplifted and inspired no matter what she was going through. So this podcast has old "Original" shows from that time period. It also has "New" shows that are currently being recorded with new guests. And it has "Update" shows where Heidi reached out to original radio show guests to find out how the past 20 years have been! Theme song written and recorded by Heidi's baby brother Shane! Using the ‘calm mom voice' is tough in stressful situations – like when a giant tree falls right in front of you and the kids. Laura Smith Borrman has this Perspective.
Today's episode starts without a direction but a feeling to share my week and the feelings of my journey of healing and dealing with the chaos of each day. Through past life regression and healing my relationship with money I am learning to heal and grow. This episode is raw and real and discusses my focus on how money is energy and how past life regression and understanding who I am has helped me heal those parts of myself. I am forever grateful for the abundance that is all around us these days. In the struggle of life, we are reminded of the support the universe has for us all. I'll always be working on healing. Why wouldn't I want to be a better version of myself? Don't you want to be? How can you be a better version of yourself? How can you step into your power?April is National Poetry Month and I am so excited and grateful to share my poetry here on the podcast! Today's episode I share about imposter syndrome, about mom guilt, about how privilege plays into all of that. I chat about self care and how that can look for the busy mom. I had originally recorded this episode in my car about privilege and acknowledging all that it brought but due to quality of the recording and the true meaning of the message being lost, I had to actually sit down and record this episode. I do not have life all figured out, I am not always "Peace and Calm" but I am trying and working towards understanding and being a kinder person and at the end of the day, that's all we can do. We can try our best to change, to heal, to be kind humans, to understand and acknowledge where we are on the journey of life and be careful not to discount someone else's journey because it is theirs and it is sacred.I am so honored to share my voice and my heart with you each week and this is no exception so thank you for returning each week and for being here wherever you may be on your own journey!Free Flow Friday submissions of poetry can be made by emailing: peaceandcalmlife@gmail.comTo follow the Peace and Calm Mom journey head on over to IG: https://www.instagram.com/peace.and.calm.mom/Support the show (https://buymeacoffee.com/peaceandcalmmom)

Today it was so fun talking to Michelle Beckner! Michelle is a mom of two who is passionate about real food and educating new and expecting moms on how to stay happy and healthy so that they can raise happy and healthy babies.
