It's Die Hard with dragons! After a summer hiatus, DIE HARD ON A BLANK is back with a vengeance and we're bringing the heat…because this week we're exploring Rob Bowman's 2002 monster mash REIGN OF FIRE, with the help of returning special guest Rob Hackett! As a young boy, Quinn Abercromby is visiting the construction of an underground tunnel in London, when he stumbles on a horrifying discovery – a dormant dragon – who attacks and kills the construction workers, including his mother. Twenty years later, what's left of humanity is hanging by a thread following the rise of the dragons, and the now adult Quinn (Christian Bale) is the de facto leader of a group of survivors, who have adjusted to their grim new reality and live a remote existence in a castle in Northumberland. However, their existence is disrupted by the arrival of mysterious American soldier Van Zan (Matthew McConaughey), who claims to be a dragon slayer…and who might hold the key to humanity's salvation. As a top executive at James Wan's production company Atomic Monster (who recently merged with Blumhouse), Rob is uniquely positioned to provide expert insight into a film that falls somewhere between a blockbuster and a genre picture. The guys also discuss the history of dragons on film and in popular culture, the story's mythic underpinnings, and its exploration of different cultural attitudes to crises, as embodied by a Brit (Bale) and an American (McConaughey). Is this a WW2 analogy? Is it about post-9/11 gloom? Or is it just a kick-ass monster movie? The guys get into it all and much more! Damn it's good to be back!TRAILER: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aUXQ2f3GAXAAt the time of release, REIGN OF FIRE is available to rent or buy on Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV/iTunes, YouTube, Fandango and all the usual platforms, and is available on physical media from selected outlets!Click here to subscribe to our Patreon feed 48 HOURS OF BUDDY MOVIES!www.patreon.com/48hoursofbuddymovies Hosted on Acast. In “The Conjuring: Last Rites”, Ed and Lorraine Warren have worked over a thousand cases as spiritually guided paranormal investigators, helping save people from demonic forces. That doesn't mean they've seen everything and this latest case might be the one that breaks them. This is the real-life Smurl case in suburban Pittsburgh, where the introduction of a possessed mirror into their home, also introduces evil spirits. In addition to that, the evil spirit within the possessed doll, Annabelle, continues to haunt Ed and Lorraine's daughter. Is it worth going to the theater to find out what happens next?

Daarnaast hebben we groot Marvel-nieuws: Jon Bernthal's Punisher krijgt volgens de laatste berichten een prominente rol in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The Punisher krijgt een grote rol in Spider-Man: Brand New DayHet MCU staat op scherp, want er gaan sterke geruchten dat Jon Bernthal's Punisher een grote rol krijgt in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

This week on Friday Night Frightfest, we're stepping into the chilling world of Ed and Lorraine Warren, the famous paranormal investigators! We're kicking off our exploration of the "Conjuring Universe" by comparing the foundation of it all, The Conjuring (2013), with the origin story of its most sinister artifact, Annabelle (2014). Get ready for demonic entities, creepy dolls, and a whole lot of scares! The Conjuring (2013) Directed by James Wan, The Conjuring introduces us to Ed and Lorraine Warren as they are called upon to help a family terrorized by a dark presence in their secluded farmhouse. Based on a supposedly true story, this film masterfully builds suspense with its atmospheric tension, unsettling sound design, and truly frightening supernatural encounters. It established the tone and style that would define the entire cinematic universe. Annabelle (2014) Directed by John R. Leonetti, Annabelle serves as a prequel to The Conjuring, delving into the horrifying origins of the creepy doll that briefly haunted the Warrens' artifact room. The film follows a young couple who bring the vintage doll into their home, unknowingly attracting a malevolent entity that latches onto it. This spin-off focuses on more direct demonic possession and the terrifying consequences of inviting evil into your life. Join us as we explore the storytelling of these two pivotal films in the "Conjuring Universe." We'll discuss how The Conjuring laid the groundwork for the franchise's success, the effectiveness of Annabelle's terrifying doll, and how these films established the recurring themes of faith and the battle against pure evil. Whether you're a seasoned Warrenverse veteran or a curious newcomer, this episode is your guide to the beginning of the haunting! Spoilers start around 5:54.

On today's episode, we're discussing The Conjuring, the 2013 supernatural thriller that redefined modern horror. Directed by James Wan, the film follows real-life paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren as they confront a dark presence haunting a family farmhouse in Rhode Island. We'll explore the film's spine-tingling atmosphere, its roots in true events, and what it means to believe in the unknown. (Editor's note: The day after we recorded this the tragedy involving Dan Rivera (Paranormal investigator who was touring with the real Annabelle doll) tragically passed away in Pennsylvania mid-tour with the doll. Our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones)@BATTpod on twitterBillBria@billbriahttps://crookedmarquee.com/author/bill-bria/https://www.slashfilm.com/author/billbria/https://billbria.contently.com/billandashterrortheater@gmail.combillandashterrortheater@instagram.com Ashley@AshleyannCoffin https://www.instagram.com/electrical_ash/You can find more from us and our other shows at https://www.strandedpanda.com/
