Our new sermon series is titled “Facing the Stresses of Life with Faith.” The great spiritual giant of the past were not immune from the problems that plague us in the present day. They faced life with faith in a God who is at work to bring out good in everything that happens. Today we are talking about A Cure Depression. Mood changes are a problem for many people. Sometimes we are in a good mood, and other times we are in a bad mood. The low mood is often called depression. In 2020 a record number of people in America were being treated with pharmaceuticals for depression, and suicided reached an all time high. Im sure the numbers would be similar here in Australia. Elijah suffered from an acute case of depression immediately after a high religious experience. The prophets of Baal had increased in number because Jezebel, the wife of Ahab, permitted the worship of Baal when she moved to Israel. Elijah challenged the prophets of Baal at Mount Carmel. The contest was was an interesting and exciting one. The challenge was for the authentic God to consume the offering with fire. The prophets of Baal called to their god, but he could not answer, for he was a false god. Elijah called to the Lord, and He rained down fire, consuming the sacrifice. Elijah came out out a winner. But his happiness was marred by Jezabel's threat on his life. His high spirits were short lived. He immediately got alone and developed a low spirit. 1 Kings 19:4, But he himself went a day's journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a broom tree. And he prayed that he might die, and said, “It is enough! Now, Lord, take my life, for I am no better than my fathers!” In this mood the Lord ministered to him. From this ministry we may learn a cure for depression. The carnivore diet has been around since the dawn of time, but it's only recently been gaining traction in modern society. Some people are choosing to go on this diet for health reasons, but many others are doing so for mental health reasons. In this interview with Natalie West, we'll discuss some of the ways that going on a carnivore diet can improve your mental health. A morbidly obese man named Shawn Baker was able to lose over 100 pounds in a matter of months by going on the carnivore diet. Baker is a former bodybuilder and he's now a carnivore diet advocate. He lost over 100 pounds on the carnivore diet and has suffered from depression for most of his life. Some people have experienced a reduction in anxiety due to the removal of carbohydrates. Eating carbs can cause blood sugar swings, that's why you can have lots of energy when you eat carbs and after a few hours you feel angry. Examples of foods that are high in carbohydrates are bread, pasta, and rice How to identify if you are experiencing anxiety due to carbohydrates: If you feel better after avoiding these foods for a few weeks, then it's a good idea to continue avoiding them. People have reported feeling happier and more positive. The carnivore diet can also improve your mental health by reducing anxiety, improving focus and concentration, and increasing energy levels. Natalie West suggests eating purely beef as it contains important amino acids to build lean muscle and feed your brain. Many people report experiencing greater productivity as a result of eating this way. One of the main benefits for mental health is the improved mood caused by not having to deal with sugar crashes, caffeine withdrawal, or stomach aches. You might feel happier because your body is finally getting the nutrients it's been craving for years. Key nutrients from eating a carnivore diet include: ⌲ Vitamin D can help with depression, anxiety and sleep disorders. ⌲ Vitamin B12 is essential for a healthy nervous system, as well as for healthy skin and hair, bone formation and blood clotting. It may also improve memory loss, fatigue and mood swings associated with aging. ⌲ Zinc helps regulate neurotransmitters — brain chemicals that carry messages between nerve cells — which are involved in mood control. Zinc supplements may help prevent relapses in people who have recovered from depression but are at high risk of another episode. ⌲ Iron deficiency can cause anemia (a lack of red blood cells), which could lead to fatigue or low energy levels that affect your moods as well as physical performance during exercise or work activities. While there are many studies that have been done to determine whether or not this diet is good for your mental health, the results seem extremely positive. If you're interested in trying out this new approach then it might be worth taking a chance on yourself! For decades, myths such as psychedelics “create holes in your brain” or that they remain buried in your system forever have incited fear and opposition from the general public. However, cutting-edge research by scientists like Cole has been slowly deconstructing that narrative, paving the way for psychedelics to enter the mainstream medical scene. Cole Marta is the founder of the California Center for Psychedelic Therapy, a clinic in Southern California that is spearheading the use of drugs such as MDMA and psilocybin to treat advanced mental health disorders. Convinced by the healing benefits of psychedelics, Cole and his team are working hard to figure out how to harness drugs like MDMA to serve those suffering from trauma and mental illness. As we follow Cole's journey, we'll grapple with the stigmas surrounding psychedelics and explore the consequences of abusing them versus using them safely. We'll also dance around the concept of time, within our lives and within psychedelic trips, and try to understand how it expands, contracts, and doubles back on itself. But in order to understand Cole's work as a psychiatrist, we first need to understand how his views on psychedelics formed. https://psychedelictherapyca.com/ Subscribe to our Newsletter! https://findingfounders.co/subscribe Website: findingfounders.co Follow Sam: https://www.instagram.com/samueldonner/ Follow Finding Founders IG: https://www.instagram.com/findingfounderspodcast/

Julian Uzielli has struggled with chronic depression for years. Like many people with mental health issues, his symptoms were exacerbated by the pandemic, and his condition eventually deteriorated to the point where he was forced to take a leave of absence from his job.Therapist appointments and regular antidepressant medications were doing little to alleviate Julian's despondency, so he began looking into alternative treatments. During his research he encountered a clinic in Toronto called Field Trip Health, who offer a service called "ketamine-assisted therapy." Having exhausted all his other options, Julian decided to give it a go, and a few months later he's feeling better than he ever has.So what is ketamine? How accessible is it to Canadian's who feel like they could benefit from its use? Could this be the miracle drug that sufferers with treatment-resistant depression have been waiting for?

Have you ever felt depressed? I don't mean just when you feel a little melancholy, but when you feel like you're in a dark cave for days on end and can't seem to climb out? In this Gratitude Challenge, I've been advocating the benefits of gratitude for freeing us from anxiety and stress while also producing a protective shield around our hearts and minds. Scripture clearly teaches this is possible, but what about when it doesn't happen? What about when we're medically depressed? Should the intentional practice of gratitude be our only remedy? Let's talk about this. CAUTION: I'm not a doctor or a licensed therapist. If you feel depressed for more than a few days you should likely talk to your doctor or a therapist.

If that's not for you, he goes in depth on alternatives such as deprivation tanks, shamanic breathing and ecstatic dancing. There's PLENTY of safe, practical advice to settle your soul and turn your life around. Would you ever try ayahuasca? It's either a definitely, maybe, or HELL no. Let us know below, PLEASE! So why would mental health be any different? Brett Lloyd joins the show to drive the importance of diet choices when dealing with mental health. Scott Ross (LMHC) is a psychotherapist licensed to facilitate ketamine-assisted psychotherapy. The only currently legal form of psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy in the United States. Scott shares how patients can emerge out of a ketamine-assisted psychotherapy session. These kinds of patients battle depression, anxiety, trauma, PTSD and more. Please don't go sniff stupid amounts of ketamine to help your depression. This is a conversation with a licensed psychotherapist who has been trained to administer ketamine to clients. Kathryn chats about coping when life gets us down. She introduces the Emotional Ladder to help get back on track.
HILO! In the chit chat, we talk about Chet Hanks and how he is very much not Jamaican at all. Tucked away in the corrections corner is Baghdad, which is in IRAQ not Iran, like Amy said in last episode. Also in the corrections corner, a public apology from Amy: I called Matt, Patrick, and Jonathan the three bitchiest queens I know. Calling a queer man a queen supports the stereotype that queer men are effeminate, and girly, which comes with a whole host of terrible connotations: weak, emotional, etc. It's not okay for me to toss it around casually, and I'm sorry. I firmly stand by calling them bitchy. Speaking of people who need to apologize: disappointing celebrities talking about their diets. The fatphobic disaster this week is Jillian Michaels, and all the media. All of it. The body politics win is Sam Smith! The Fucked Up Shit this week is the racist treatment of Meghan Markle. The make-up minute is Goof Proof Brow Pencil, and Thrive Eye List 360 primer. Amy recommnds Don't F*ck With Cats, and The Catch & Kill podcast. Paula recommends Mrs Fletcher.
Can a great lipstick cure the winter blues? Sadly not, but as two hard working PNW based ladies who know a thing or two about depression we have some tips! Anne has long dealt with Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) and this week on the show she is sharing some of her top hacks to get through the dark days of winter. We are wrapping up our thoughts on Erica Carr's week long pro makeup event CLASS in Portland OR, but was it worth it the money? Kat has some opinions on Jaclyn Hill's new launch and we are kicking off our 7 weeks of Christmas giveaways and beauty we love!
Back again, we've got Pastor Dell Young giving a little back story into how his path molded his church, and the grace message. This episode is filled with heart warming topics of inclusion and love. So give it a listen, and enjoy!
This is a topic I'm incredibly passionate about because it crippled my life for YEARS. I felt hopeless and out of control. I sunk deep into a pit of apathy. Nothing could penetrate it. Sex, drugs, alcohol, parties, friends, relationships, Netflix, travel, money. It didn't work. In the end, these 3 ways of being allowed me to finally shift out of the hell and into alignment, wellbeing and joy. I know they'll allow you to do the same if you apply them.

Loved sitting down with Octavia Bromell (@tinkoutsidethebox) and discussing her creative journey in this bonus episode! Tink started making art and illustrations when struggling with anxiety and depression, using creativity to stay positive and focused. Her work focuses on topics of mental health many don’t address. After sharing online she has built an audience who look at her work and realise that they’re not alone, inspiring them to be more creative in their own lives. We partnered with Adobe to bring you this episode, as part of their ‘Creatfulness’ campaign, which is something we believe strongly in; no matter how hectic work and life gets, we owe it to ourselves to stay creative! Psychedelics have an ancient and more recent history of medicinal-use. Administered in a supportive environment, with preparatory and integrative psychological care, psychedelic medicines are now being used to facilitate emotional breakthrough and renewed perspective. Indeed, a growing body of research is indicating that these medicines, when provided with accompanying psychological support, can be used safely to treat a range of psychiatric conditions, such as end-of-life anxiety and depression, alcohol and tobacco addiction, obsessive compulsive disorder, and most recently, treatment-resistant major depression. This talk, from Robin Carhart-Harris, PhD, will detail his latest fascinating research on psilocybin for depression, as well as the results of his brain imaging work with other psychedelics. Dr Robin Carhart-Harris heads the Psychedelic Research Group at Imperial College London, where he moved to in 2008 after obtaining a PhD in Psychopharmacology from the University of Bristol and an MA in Psychoanalysis from Brunel University. At Imperial, he has conducted and overseen human brain imaging studies of the effects of LSD, psilocybin (magic mushrooms), MDMA and DMT (ayahuasca), plus a clinical trial of psilocybin for treatment-resistant depression. As of November 2018, he will be Associate Professor at the University of Oxford, where he will lead a new Centre for Psychedelic Research. Three of his papers ranked within the top 100 most impactful scientific papers of the year, over the last two years. His work has been featured in the Independent, New Scientist and Wired magazine. *Chosen as BlogTalkRadio Staff Pick!* Ever had that feeling like you just want to curl up in a ball and shut the world out forever? Chances are you're suffering from depression and don't know it. Depression is more than the "blues," it's a pervasive condition that warrants attention. The recent suicide of actor Lee Thompson Young--star of popular shows such as the Disney Channel's The Famous Jett Jackson, Rizzoli and Isles and Scrubs--left people dumbfounded. Why would a young man who seemed to have it all take his own life? His death was just another reminder of the skyrocketing suicide rates, especially among men. Joining the conversation will be Craig Meriwether. Craig fought a nearly life-long battle with depression and won. He created the best-selling programs Depression 180 and Mind Mastery Blueprint, and appeared as a featured author in the New York Times bestselling book Pearls of Wisdom: 30 Inspirational Ideas to Live your Best Life Now! along with Jack Canfield, Marci Shimoff and Janet Bray Attwood. Craig now travels the country speaking to thousands of people every year and leading workshops in creating lasting life transformation. Craig teaches others how to eliminate depression and create deep happiness and success! (http://craiginreallife.com/) Also, weighing in on the topic is actor, Shun Lauren. He is currently starring in the film, A Better Life. Shun has seen the world through a similar lens to Lee Thompson Young and was personally touched by his death (www.imdb.me/shunlauren). Join Dr. D Ivan Young and his guests as they identify causes, warning signs and steps to defeat depression. Don't miss this program, it may save your life, or the life of somebody you love. Today the topic is alternative medicine. .What does that mean? And more importantly, how do you separate fact from fiction when it comes to all of the incredible benefits touted on radio, TV, and the Internet? Can DHEA – an endogenous hormone (made in the human body) that's secreted by the adrenal gland – cure depression and heart disease, and improve your libido? What about Echinacea? Does it help treat and prevent colds? And if your body actually manufactures vitamin D, is there any reason for you to take a supplement?
