Fr. Mike expands on Ezekiel 33 and emphasizes that the role of a prophet, is to be God's watchman and speak whatever it is God wants to be spoken. He stresses the reality that those who are teachers and leaders, who shape and form the consciences of others, have the responsibility to speak the truth even when it's hard. Today's readings are Jeremiah 5, Ezekiel 33, and Proverbs 14:21-24. For the complete reading plan, visit ascensionpress.com/bibleinayear. Sacramentals are sacred signs that resemble the sacraments. Blessings of people, places, and objects are foremost among the various sacramentals found in the life of the Church. Among these blessings are those of exorcism, in both its simple and solemn form. Fr. Mike notes that sacramentals and the many forms of popular piety, such as the Rosary, are noble expressions of faith that prepare us to participate in the Liturgy but can never replace the Liturgy. Today's readings are Catechism paragraphs 1667-1679. This episode has been found to be in conformity with the Catechism by the Institute on the Catechism, under the Subcommittee on the Catechism, USCCB. Apathy is one of the quieter struggles of the Christian life, less dramatic than crisis and therefore easier to ignore, but just as damaging to our relationship with God and our experience of the life He intends for us. Ephesians 5:13-14 names it with surprising directness: apathy is a form of spiritual sleep. And the call that follows is equally direct: "wake up, sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you." This is not a shaming command. It is a gentle invitation back into the light of Christ, where recovery becomes possible. When light enters a dark room, it reveals what was invisible before. In the same way, Christ's light illuminates the spiritual weariness, the draining habits, and the weighted thinking patterns that have quietly accumulated. It does not expose them to condemn; it exposes them so that renewal can begin. The path back does not require a dramatic overhaul. It begins with small steps: a little more rest, time outside, one verse of Scripture, a simple prayer. God meets us exactly where we are and gently guides us forward from there. Over time, as His light reaches further into every part of our lives, energy and motivation return, purpose becomes clearer, and what felt like spiritual numbness begins to give way to something alive again. Today's Bible Verse "Wake up, sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you."— Ephesians 5:14, NIV Ponder Today Christ's light reveals what the darkness concealed in order to renew. When we allow His light into our weariness and numbness, we begin to see what has been draining us, and that visibility is the first step toward healing. Burnout and apathy are signals that something needs care, not just discipline. God designed body, mind, and spirit to be connected, and all of them need rest and care. Addressing physical and mental health is part of answering the call to wake up. Small steps are enough to begin. God meets us exactly where we are and works with whatever we bring. Healing does not require a grand overhaul to begin. One verse of Scripture a day, a few minutes outside, a brief and honest prayer; start small, start somewhere. Christ's light, let in gradually, restores what apathy quietly stole. Energy, motivation, clarity of thought, and sense of purpose return as His light reaches further into our lives. Waking up is not a single moment; it is a direction we begin moving toward. A Prayer for You Today Dear God, You know how much I have struggled with apathy lately. I feel tired from dealing with all the challenges of this fallen world, overwhelmed by the constant noise, and burned out from the stress. I just do not care anymore about what You want me to care about. Please forgive me for settling for apathy and neglecting the full life You want me to live. I need Your help to answer the call to wake up and step into Your light. Shine Your light into every part of me — my spirit, mind, and body. Help me care for my wellbeing so I can heal and grow stronger. Restore my passion for knowing You and walking closely with You each day. As Your light fills my life again, renew my energy and motivation and guide me forward with hope. Thank You. Amen. Want More?

Mike also reflects on Jeremiah's repudiation of Israel's cult worship and how its distorted sexuality had serious consequences. Today's readings are Jeremiah 3, Ezekiel 29-30, and Proverbs 14:13-16. “Children are the supreme gift of marriage,” says Vatican II. Marriage is directed by its very nature toward the procreation of children. Beyond this, parents are the primary educators of their children, responsible for their holistic formation. Sadly, many couples suffer from infertility. Even in their struggle, they can provide a powerful witness of love, sacrifice, and fidelity. In all this and more, we see the family as the Domestic Church. Today's readings are Catechism paragraphs 1652-1658. This episode has been found to be in conformity with the Catechism by the Institute on the Catechism, under the Subcommittee on the Catechism, USCCB. In the movie industry, they talk about the “suspension of disbelief.” It’s all make- believe, right? But they try to make the costumes, and the special effects, and the acting so convincing that it suspends our disbelief. They hope we forget it’s fake. Or fiction, if you prefer. Today on A NEW BEGINNING, Pastor Greg Laurie points out that some people sort of act their way through life. They try to suspend our disbelief about how they’re really living. Welcome back to Faith Friday!! We are almost done with this fruit of the Spirit series!!! hope y'all are loving it! In this episode, we explore the fruit of the Spirit: gentleness from Galatians 5:22–23. We'll talk about what biblical gentleness really means, how Jesus modeled it, and what it looks like in our everyday relationships, conversations, and responses. Gentleness invites us to respond rather than react, to speak truth with love, and to treat others with grace even when emotions run high. It's a quiet strength that reflects the character of Christ. In this episode, we'll explore: What biblical gentleness actually means Why gentleness is a fruit of the Holy Spirit How Jesus demonstrated gentleness without compromising truth The difference between gentleness and weakness Practical ways to cultivate gentleness in our words, reactions, and relationships What it looks like to surrender our responses to the Holy Spirit Scripture: Galatians 5:22–23; Matthew 11:28–30 Reflection: Where might God be inviting you to replace a harsh reaction with a gentle response this week? Second Timothy 1:5 is often quoted to celebrate the faithful discipleship of Lois and Eunice, and rightly so. But it is equally a portrait of Timothy stepping into his own personal faith — moving beyond the foundation his grandmother and mother provided and owning that faith as his own as he began to preach and lead. Paul was writing to encourage Timothy to stand on what he now personally believed, not simply on what he had been handed. The same invitation extends to every believer who has grown up surrounded by the faith of others. There is a moment when borrowed faith must become personal. When kneeling before God and surrendering is no longer someone else's story but your own. The foundation provided by faithful parents and grandparents is a profound gift. But the blessings of following Christ are only fully experienced when we move from inheriting a faith to genuinely living it ourselves. Today's Bible Verse "I am reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also."— 2 Timothy 1:5, NIV Ponder Today Inherited faith provides a foundation, but it must become personal to bear lasting fruit. Growing up surrounded by Christianity is a gift. But the blessings of following Christ are only fully experienced when that faith moves from borrowed to genuinely owned. Timothy's faith was celebrated not just because of Lois and Eunice, but because it now lived in him personally. Paul's encouragement to Timothy was a call to step fully into his own faith and lead from it — no longer leaning on his family's belief, but standing in his own. A decade of running from God does not disqualify a person from a profound personal encounter with Him. The return to faith — the moment of surrender — can arrive at any point, and God is fully capable of meeting us wherever and whenever we come back. Borrowed faith may sustain us through seasons of wandering, but it cannot produce transformation. Living on goldfish-and-apple-juice Sunday School memories and someone else's prayers is not the same as personally pursuing Christ, studying Scripture, and allowing truth to take root in your own heart. Give thanks for those who built the foundation, then own what they gave you. Honor the Loises and Eunices in your life by moving from gratitude for their investment into active, personal growth in Christ — and then pour that same investment into someone else. A Prayer for You Today Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of family, friends, teachers, and others who have poured into my life and taught me about You and Your Word. May I move from an inherited faith to a personal relationship with You, supported and strengthened by time in Scripture and bathed in prayer. Provide a Christian community to help me grow in my pursuit of knowing You more and applying the timeless truths of Scripture to my life. When I experience opposition or confusion in this journey, give me the strength to seek wise counsel and continue in Your ways. I love You, Lord. In Jesus' name, Amen. Want More?
