Read OnlineThe Way to the Father“Where I am going you know the way.” Thomas said to him, “Master, we do not know where you are going; how can we know the way?” Jesus said to him, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:4–6In addition to His parables and moral teachings, Jesus revealed to His disciples deep mysteries in a direct way that they did not immediately comprehend, especially when He spoke to the Twelve in intimate settings, such as the Last Supper, the context for today's Gospel. In this discourse, Jesus explains, in veiled form, that He will soon ascend into Heaven where He will prepare a place for His followers. He explains that because they know Him, they know the way to where He is going—the way to the Father—because He Himself is that Way. As Jesus spoke these mysterious truths, we can imagine the Twelve listening attentively, yet with confusion.Everything Jesus taught was true. His words, recorded in the Gospels, reveal to us the deepest divine mysteries. Within the Scriptures, we find all we need to know to attain perfect holiness and the eternal life of Heaven. Yet we cannot quickly digest Jesus' words as we might an intriguing novel or history book. There are many layers of depth to what He says, and we can only understand those layers through prayer. As the conversation continued, “Philip said to him, ‘Master, show us the Father, and that will be enough for us.' Jesus said to him, ‘Have I been with you for so long a time and you still do not know me, Philip? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father'?'” (John 14:8–9).Jesus' response likely surprised Philip and the other disciples because they did not understand what He was saying. Their intention was good—they wanted to understand—but Jesus' words were more than they could comprehend at that moment. Despite this, Jesus gently rebuked Philip as a way of drawing him deeper into the mystery He was revealing.God often treats us the same way. There are many things that we do not understand. Why do innocent people suffer? Why doesn't God heal my loved one in answer to my prayers? Why do my children no longer practice the faith? What am I supposed to do with my life?Just as Philip struggled to understand Jesus' words, we, too, face moments of confusion when God's ways seem beyond our grasp. God's answer to life's most challenging questions is rarely straightforward or immediate. Why? Because such an approach can never fully satisfy the depth of our hearts. Instead, God reveals a kernel of truth to us and then invites us to ponder it, revealing the divine mystery we seek to understand little by little, to the degree we are open. The answers we seek come only as we conform our wills to God's, patiently opening ourselves to His Wisdom. Divine mysteries can only be understood through prayer and deep attentiveness to the truths in God's mind. Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Only by uniting ourselves to Him in prayer will we discover the path we must walk, the truth we need to hear, and the life we are called to live.Reflect today on anything you struggle to understand. See yourself as one of the Twelve, listening to Jesus speak, but failing to comprehend. Do not be discouraged; instead, allow the fullness of Jesus' divine Truth to sink in gradually. Spend time in prayer, read the Gospels, be open, and listen from the depths of your heart. Seek out His gentle voice and know that He is your Way, Truth, and Life. Let Him lead you and reveal to you the mysteries of His divine Wisdom so that you, too, know the way to the Father in Heaven. Most glorious Lord, everything You have revealed to us is pure truth, yet my mind is often incapable of fully comprehending Your Wisdom. Draw me into the many mysteries You wish to reveal, and teach me to pray so that I will more fully comprehend the way to You and to Your Father in Heaven. Join us as we warm our hearts by the fire of God's love and listen for what the Spirit is saying today. TODAY'S DEVOTION: He is God's answer for our hard hearts. In Matthew 19, Jesus speaks about the law—not as a set of rules meant to bring life, but as a concession to our hard hearts. When asked about divorce, he makes it clear: the laws were never God's original intention. They are an acknowledgment of our rebellion, our separation, our waywardness. The law meets us in our brokenness, but it is not the answer. God's answer is not a rule but a relationship. The answer is pictured in marriage—a union where two become one, where love and faithfulness are at the center. At the very first miracle, Jesus turns water into wine at a wedding, and at the last, all of creation gathers for the great marriage feast of the Lamb. All of Scripture, from beginning to end, is pointing us to the Bridegroom—Jesus. He alone is the One who transforms and heals the hard places within us. The keepers of the law came to trap Jesus, but he was not interested in debate. Instead, he offers a new way—a way to freedom and newness of heart, a miracle of transformation for all who would let him work. Jesus is the answer for our condition, the One who brings hope and changes hearts of stone into hearts alive with love. It is in him that all things are made new, where the impossible becomes possible, and where grace meets us in our deepest need. The law shows us our limits, but Christ gives us his life. Let us receive him, the Bridegroom who has come for us. Let him soften what has grown hard. Let him make us new. Step into the life that is yours in Christ—the life of joy, reconciliation, and love. That's the prayer that I have for my own soul. That's the prayer that I have for my family, for my wife and my daughters and my son. And that's the prayer that I have for you. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. And in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose through Jesus Christ Our Lord amen. Oh God you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth and sent your blessed son to preach peace to those who are far and those who are near. Grant that people everywhere may seek after you, and find you. Bring the nations into your fold, pour out your Spirit on all flesh, and hasten the coming of your kingdom through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen. And now Lord, make me an instrument of your peace. Where there is hatred let me sow love. Where there is injury, pardon. Where there is doubt, faith. Where there is despair, hope. Where there is darkness, light. And where there is sadness, Joy. Oh Lord grant that I might not seek to be consoled as to console. To be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love. For it is in the giving that we receive, in the pardoning that we are pardoned, it is in the dying that we are born unto eternal life. Amen And now as our Lord has taught us we are bold to pray... Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven, give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our tresspasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not unto temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. Loving God, we give you thanks for restoring us in your image. And nourishing us with spiritual food, now send us forth as forgiven people, healed and renewed, that we may proclaim your love to the world, and continue in the risen life of Christ. Amen. Repenting of Unintentional Sin by Autumn Dickson In my last post, we talked about Yom Kippur, the day of atonement. As a quick review in case you missed the last post, this day was a solemn event with an undercurrent of joy. The main ritual of the day included two identical male goats. One goat would be sacrificed with its blood spread on the Holy of Holies and its fat burned on the altar. The priest would lay his hands on the second goat, pronounce the intentional and unintentional sins of Israel upon it, and then send the goat out into the wilderness. The first goat represented the payment of Israel's sins. The second goat represented the guilt being taken away from them. The detail that I want to explore from this ritual is when the priest symbolically transferred the sins of Israel onto the second goat. There are parallels to Christ in all of these steps and details, but that's the one I want to talk about today. Here's the verse that teaches us about this. Leviticus 16:21-22 21 And Aaron shall lay both his hands upon the head of the live goat, and confess over him all the iniquities of the children of Israel, and all their transgressions in all their sins, putting them upon the head of the goat, and shall send him away by the hand of a fit man into the wilderness: 22 And the goat shall bear upon him all their iniquities unto a land not inhabited: and he shall let go the goat in the wilderness. Implication one from this detail: It is important to repent of unintentional sin. It is good for us. It makes us happier. I think of when my oldest daughter finally lashes out at my son when he's being purposefully obnoxious. My son often tortures his sisters repeatedly, not hurting them or saying directly mean things, but pushing their buttons until they explode on him. My daughter will hold out as long as she can until she finally explodes in a violent reaction. The violent reaction is more jarring than the relentless teasing, but whose heart is actually sinning (Yes, I recognize that both my kids are young and one isn't even accountable yet. This is about the principle, not the specific details)? My son is the one truly trying to make his sister batty; that's his entire purpose. My daughter never set out to bug or hurt him; she simply has the emotional control of an eight year old. And yet, she still needs to repent. She doesn't need to repent because she's evil and horrible and cursed. She needs to repent because it's going to make her happier. Repenting isn't just about atoning for what you've done; it's about changing so you're protected, close to Christ, and happier. In this specific example, my long-term goal for her repentance is to get to the point where her brother doesn't affect her. She just goes on in her life, unbothered by people who are purposefully trying to make her life harder. That's part of happiness, and therefore, repenting is a gift. Obviously, I need to help my son change too, but my principle here is about repenting of unintentional sins, not intentional ones. I used an example of violence, and I specifically used an example where she made a mistake because she's flawed like the rest of us. It's easy to see how violence needs to be repented of. However, these same principles apply when we're trying to do what's right but not worshiping how the Savior would have us worship. We talked about this recently with the golden calf incident. Maybe Israel wasn't trying to worship a different deity. Perhaps they had just created an idol in hopes of worshiping the God who had just delivered them. Perhaps their hearts were trying to do what's right but were misguided. Even if their hearts were in a good place, repentance of unintentional sin is important. Heavenly Father gives commandments to help us be good people, but He also gives us commandments to protect us from becoming bad. Seems like a silly nuance but let me elaborate. Israel could have very quickly devolved into worshiping the calf rather than the Lord even if their intention had been to worship the Lord in the beginning. They needed to repent because the Lord wanted to protect them. So even if the Israelites had unintentionally sinned (and I emphasize if since we don't know precisely where their hearts were), they still needed to repent! They still needed to repent of unintentional sins so they could remain close to the Lord where they would be happy. So quick recap so we can understand where we're going: The detail we're covering is that the priest symbolically transferred the unintentional and intentional sins of Israel up on the goat that would be released into the wilderness. Implication two from this detail: We're trying to change our sinful nature, not just listing off individual sins and saying sorry. Ultimate repentance is about changing to be like God, not racking up individual points that tip the scales and put us in the Celestial Kingdom. When I write my posts, I often use AI to help me get my details straight. I don't use it to actually write my content in case anyone was wondering, but I do use it to make sure I'm understanding timelines and facts. For example, I asked it to give me a play-by-play of the ritual so I wouldn't accidentally ruin one of the details. I turned to AI as I was writing this early in the morning and asked, “Did the Israelites write down their sins and give it to the priest to transfer over to the goat?” It was only after hitting “enter,” that I realized how ridiculous that question was. I blamed the early morning and brain fog. Anyway, AI responded by saying that no one gave the priest a long list of the sins they committed over the past year. First of all, that's terribly impractical. It's impractical (and unhealthy) to keep a list of all your sins, and it's impractical to list each sin of each individual for the entire society for the entire year. Second of all, a majority of them were illiterate. Like I said, I blame the early morning for my ridiculous question, but I'm actually grateful that I asked it because it led me to a beautiful implication. Because of my question, I more consciously realized that the Israelites weren't listing individual sins. It's not about repenting of individual sins and trying to garner points that put us in the Celestial Kingdom. It's about changing our nature to goodness. The priest didn't transfer each individual sin onto the goat for it to run out into the wilderness; the priest merely acknowledged the sinful nature for the year. Perhaps this seems cheap; it's so easy to go to Heavenly Father and be like, “I sinned a lot last year. Forgive me please.” However, religious rituals are only as cheap as you make them. This ritual wasn't about reliving every mistake and rebellion. This ritual wasn't about rehashing everything you did wrong. This ritual was about recognizing that you can't make it to heaven on your own. It's about fully understanding how lost you are without Christ and rejoicing as you watch that goat be taken away. It's about wanting to change into a new creature, one who is worthy and joyful, a person who can live in heaven and contribute to the atmosphere there and appreciate the atmosphere there. I testify that the Lord was sacrificed for our sins. I testify that He gave us an opportunity to remember that each week with the sacrament. Like with Yom Kippur, we have an opportunity to repent of unintentional and intentional sins so that we can be happier. We have an opportunity to sit with our reality as mortals who live in a fallen world who rely wholly on the merits of Christ and to rejoice that He is willing to carry us. Jesus gives us a name to use for God. Matthew 6:9: “This, then, is how you should pray: Our Father…” Right there. The first two words of the prayer. Our Father. Before anything else… before the structure, before the requests, before the “give us” and “forgive us”… Jesus starts with identity and relationship. Our Father. That's how He teaches us to approach God. He is our Father and we are his beloved daughter. Now here's something really beautiful – It is believed Jesus originally spoke this in Aramaic, the everyday language of the people he was speaking to. The word would have been “Abun.” Later, when written in Greek, we see the word “Abba.” And these words “Abba” and “Abun” weren’t formal, distant titles. These were words a child would use for their father. Daddy. Papa. A word of closeness. A word of trust. A word of belonging. So when Jesus says, “This is how you should pray,” He is saying… come to God like this. Come as a child comes to a loving Father. Not distant. Not afraid. Not trying to impress. But close. Known. Loved. Now let me ask you…. Who is this God we pray to? Are we bothering Him with our requests? Are we even doing it right? Does the Creator of the universe really hear us… and if He does, does He really want to? Scripture tells us to talk to God about everything—all the time. Not with fancy or showy words, but with our real, everyday language. Philippians 4: 6-7, “Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.” And this conversation with our Father, our Abba, our Papa hold tremendous power! James 5:16 says, “The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.” That's you. Righteous not because of what you've done, but because of your faith in Jesus. And your earnest prayer—the sincere one, the one that comes from relationship and not obligation—that prayer has power. Power to move mountains. Power to break chains. Power to make the impossible possible. But so many of us miss out on that power because we don't really understand who we're talking to. I missed out for years, and maybe you are too. All too often we approach God like we're interrupting Him… like we should keep it short, wrap it up, or say it just right. But Jesus tells us there's a different way and a better way to approach God … “Our Father.” That's our Abba. Our Papa. Not a distant God. Not an annoyed ruler. Not an angry man with a stick. Our Father. I sometimes listen to the teaching of a man named Bill Lokey. At the time of his latest recording, he had been battling cancer for several years, continually given only weeks to live. And this man decided, if he was only going to live a very short time, he would actually LIVE! His final recording was just 2 weeks before what he referred to as “a step from the boat to the dock”. Yes, his final breath and step into eternity. I'm literally listening to a man in his final 2 weeks of life teach me how to truly LIVE. I'm learning many things from Bill and his legacy, but the one thing that has impacted me most is an interaction he had with God during his private prayer time. He was in the car, and he began praying as he normally did, and God interrupted him and said, “I want you to call me Papa.” This man had followed Jesus for over 60 years, and he said in that moment, he experienced a whole new level of relationship with his Creator. He's not just God. He's not just the Maker of Heaven and Earth. He's not just the God of all gods. He's not just the Almighty. He is your Father, and he wants you to call him Papa. Papa. Let that settle into your soul right now. Romans 8:14–16 (MSG) says,“This resurrection life you received from God is not a timid, grave-tending life. It's adventurously expectant, greeting God with a childlike ‘What's next, Papa?' God's Spirit touches our spirits and confirms who we really are. We know who he is, and we know who we are: Father and children.” Oh… to be adventurously expectant. Did you wake up this morning expecting adventure from a Father who loves you? Did you wake up to this new month of life remembering He is for you and not against you? That He has already gone before you and made a way? If you didn't, it's so easy to feel stressed or overwhelmed… worried about your future and dreading the day ahead. But you have received a resurrection life. A life that has been raised up. A life that is new and fresh. A life that can break free of overwhelm. And when God's Spirit touches your spirit, you know who you are. My friend, may you've forgotten who you really are. Maybe life has gotten loud and busy and you're just trying to keep up. Today, Abba, Father, Papa is inviting you to slow down, come close and remember again. If you've lost yourself along the way, pause right here. Let truth settle in to you. You are not who the world says you are. You are not who your past says you are. When His Spirit meets yours, you remember your identity. And when you know who you are… then you know who He is. Father. Daddy. Papa. We know who He is, and we know who we are: Father and children. So let me ask you…. How do you sound when you pray? Do you come as a confident daughter, trusting in His love for you? Or do you come like a beggar… hoping maybe you catch Him in a good mood? Or maybe you've stopped coming at all… because somewhere along the way, you lost your belief in His personal love for you. The enemy would love nothing more than for you to see God as distant, cold, and unapproachable. But God is saying, “No… I'm your Papa God.” I used to wonder… am I bothering God? Should I just ask once and be done? Should I keep it short, like a quick summary prayer that covers everything? Sometimes I think we treat God like there's a limit, like we should hurry. But that's not what Jesus taught. Our Father. A Father doesn't get annoyed when His child keeps talking. A Father doesn't say, “You've already asked that.” A Father leans in, listens again and does everything he can for his beloved girl. That's who he is and that's who you are to him. I think about how much it means when a child says “Mama” or “Daddy.” The first time… it changes everything. And it never stops mattering. When my adult children call me Mama, my heart responds instantly. And that's just a glimpse—a tiny glimpse—of how God responds when you call Him Father. He's not rolling His eyes. He's not checking the clock. He's not saying, “Wrap it up.” His heart overflows. And here's what is so incredible… The same God who created the universe… Who holds everything together… Who is all-powerful, all-knowing, ever-present… He invites you to call him Daddy. Papa. Abba. That is the relationship He wants with you. But let's be honest for a moment. For some, this is a hard name to hear and receive. You see, for many, this is hard because our idea of “father” has been damaged. Maybe your earthly father fell short. Maybe he fell absent. Maybe that image just doesn't feel safe or real. And that matters. But don't miss this… God is not a reflection of your earthly father. He is the perfection of what a father was always meant to be. A Father who chose you. Ephesians 1:5 says, “He decided in advance to adopt you into His family… and it gave Him great pleasure.” You are chosen. Wanted. Adopted. I've seen the power of adoption up close. To be chosen. To be claimed. To finally belong. That's what God has done for you. He didn't just allow you into His family—He wanted you there. You are His daughter. So what does this relationship actually look like? It looks like pulling up an extra chair and inviting Him into your day. It looks like sitting with Him… talking with Him… or sometimes just being with Him. It looks like saying, “Hey Papa… what's next?” Not out of fear… but out of excitement. Not out of obligation… but out of relationship. What if you lived your life like that? Adventurously expectant. Waking up saying, “Papa God, You've given me this day… so what are we going to do together?” What if prayer wasn't a task… but a conversation? What if God wasn't distant… but right beside you? Papa. Feel the closeness of that. Feel the safety of that. Feel the invitation in that. You are not a burden. You are not an obligation. You are his child. He is here. He is available. And he wants nothing more than a life giving relationship with you. Yes, he is all the things that are far above all the other things. Yes, he is to be honored. Yes, he is to be respected. Yes, he is to praised. And yes, he is to be YOURS! Your Father. Your Abun. Your Abba. Your Papa. So today… pull up a chair. Invite Him into your space. Don't worry about saying the right words. Just be with Him. And maybe start right here: “What's next, Papa? I'm ready.” Because this life you've been given…. It's not timid. It's not small. It's a resurrection life. And it's meant to be lived… side by side with your Father. In this episode we look at the biblical example of the Israelites who failed to enter into the Promised Land and reflect on what keeps us from occupying it in our own lives."The word crisis comes from a Greek word that means decision or judgment. A crisis of belief is not a calamity in your life but a turning point where you must make a decision. It is a situation that forces you to decide what you truly believe about God. The way you respond at this turning point will determine whether you become involved with God in something God-sized that only He can do or whether you will continue to go your own way and miss what He purposed for your life. This is not a one-time experience. It is a regular occurrence. The way you live your life is a testimony to what you believe about God" (Experiencing God).Scriptures referenced:Proverbs 17:32 Peter 1:3-4James 1:2-4Hebrews 12:5-11John 10:10John 15:1-5Romans 8:29Numbers 13-14Isaiah 26:3Psalm 56:3-4Joshua 13:1-7Judges 3:1-4Joshua 11:21-221 Samuel 17:4**CORRECTION**I slightly misquoted 2 Peter 1:3-4. Patrick reflects on the uproar over a female "Archbishop of Canterbury" giving blessings at the Vatican, tracing how history and doctrine intersect with current headlines. Listener questions spark fresh conversation: does Christ's fulfillment of the Scriptures hinge on prophecy or typology, and did Adam and Eve ever coexist with dinosaurs? Patrick punctuates the hour with practical advice on spiritual discernment in an age of sensational claims, weighing private revelations, exorcism media, and the real weight of Catholic apologetics resources. Delight Your Marriage | Relationship Advice, Christianity, & Sexual Intimacy
From Tolerating to Delighting: Marriage Transformation Is Possible (feat. Gary Thomas & Belah Rose) Imagine this: Your husband is working nights and you are cleaning houses during the day. When you find out you are pregnant, you pursue a dream of writing a book. Every morning you walk to the coffee shop just down the street to write. One of your favorite things to do is listen to books about marriage. One of your favorite books on the topic is written by Gary Thomas. In his book, Sacred Marriage, he asks, "What if marriage is meant to make us holy instead of happy?" Now, fast forward just a few years. You are having a conversation with that author, and he tells you he is a fan of your work. Fast forward a couple more years, and you get to be mentored by this same author. Eventually, it becomes evident that he and I can help more couples by joining forces and creating a collaboration where he shares his wisdom through books and speaking, and you are able to provide coaching and accountability for people after they read the books or attend the conferences. That is the story I am sharing with you today as I announce a collaboration with Gary Thomas, bestselling author and speaker. In this episode, we share how God truly has a plan for your marriage. He is the one who changes lives, and we have been able to see that in both of our work. I want to encourage you that God can take your loaves and fishes and do something amazing. He can take your willingness. He can take your bit of faith, and He can make a marvelous tapestry for His glory. Just yesterday, we had two amazing graduations. Both individuals were changed themselves. And their spouse changed in response, though their spouses did not do the work. That can be your story, too. We would love to witness God perform that miracle through biblical principles made practical on the inside. Listen to today's podcast to understand Gary's heart and mine regarding the work we do, and now do together. Thank you, Gary, for the honor! And thank you, listener, for your love, support, and prayers. I am honored to be able to serve in this way and am trusting God for more healed hearts. God bless you, Belah PS - Marriage Transformation is real. Schedule a free Clarity Call and start your journey to a playful, peaceful, purposeful marriage. PPS - Here is a quote from a recent Coaching program graduate: My wife and I struggled to get along...We were so intimately disconnected that it led to months of no sexual intimacy...it was so painful. We constantly fought about any and everything...I had gone into various counseling programs, spiritual formations, soul care, discipleship...But nothing was really changing our relationship... [Now,] God is answering my prayers and faith is becoming a reality. She is opening up, sharing her thoughts and feeling safe and connected...She is trusting me again...[We] have been having sex again...I am in such a better place and praise God for leading me to Belah and DYM. Here is an AI-generated summary of today's episode: A New Christ-Centered Partnership for Marriage Transformation Gary Thomas and Belah Rose announce a meaningful new collaboration between Gary's marriage ministry work and Belah's ministry, Delight Your Marriage. Their shared desire is to help marriages be healed, strengthened, and transformed for the glory of God. Belah Rose's Story: From Brokenness to Marriage Ministry Belah shares how her own painful first marriage, divorce, and season away from Jesus shaped her calling. After experiencing healing through Christ and through the love of her husband, Darrow, she became passionate about helping others avoid the pain she had walked through. Her heart for Delight Your Marriage was born from the realization that marriage can either deeply wound or deeply heal—and that intimacy is often a powerful catalyst in that process. Why One Spouse Can Still Make a Difference A major theme of the conversation is that transformation can begin with just one spouse doing the work. Gary and Belah emphasize that this is not about blame or manipulation. Instead, it is about reclaiming God-given influence, loving your spouse as an act of obedience to Christ, and allowing God to change the atmosphere of the marriage. Understanding How Men and Women Receive Love Differently Belah explains the Delight Your Marriage framework for helping spouses love each other well. For wives, the focus is often helping them feel: Safe Known Wholeheartedly cherished For husbands, the focus is often helping them feel: Respected Admired Wholeheartedly intimate Gary affirms that while every person is unique, there are real patterns in how men and women often experience love, safety, respect, and intimacy. Rebuilding Intimacy Without Pressure or Manipulation Gary and Belah address the pain of sexless, disconnected, or emotionally distant marriages. They explain that true intimacy is not about obligation or pressure, but mutual joy, desire, safety, and love. Belah shares that many spouses come into the program wanting change in intimacy, but through the process, their motivation becomes deeper: loving their spouse well because they love God. Real Stories of Marriages Being Restored Belah shares several powerful examples of transformation, including: A couple who had gone 10 years without intimacy and experienced renewed connection after three months of doing the work. A wife whose husband had been checked out through video games, but who became more engaged, responsible, and affectionate after she changed her approach. A husband whose wife had been emotionally cold and distant, but who later began coming toward him with affection, conversation, and intimacy. Hope for Marriages That Feel Dead and Buried Gary and Belah are honest that not every marriage has a guaranteed outcome, especially when divorce, abuse, abandonment, or unsafe dynamics are involved. But they also emphasize that God can resurrect marriages that seem completely hopeless. Through Christ, practical tools, humility, and accountability, many couples have experienced healing they never thought possible. What Happens on a Clarity Call Belah explains that the first step is a free Clarity Call. During the call, a trained advisor listens deeply to the person's story, prays for them, and helps identify what may be at the root of the marital struggle. From there, some people are invited to a Program Discovery Call to discern whether coaching is the right next step. Why Accountability Matters in Marriage Growth Gary explains that books, conferences, and resources can be helpful, but many people need someone to walk with them personally. Belah shares that Delight Your Marriage offers coaching, structure, small-group support, prayer, and accountability so participants are not trying to change alone. Help for Good Marriages That Want to Become Great The program is not only for marriages in crisis. Belah explains that even strong marriages can have hidden "leaks"—small areas where connection, intimacy, communication, or delight could become stronger. Sometimes a marriage that seems good can become far better than either spouse knew was possible. Support for Pastors, Missionaries, and Ministry Marriages Belah and Gary also discuss the importance of supporting pastors, missionaries, and ministry couples. Many leaders feel isolated in their marriage struggles, and Delight Your Marriage offers a private, Christ-centered place to receive help. Belah shares that scholarships are available for some full-time ministers. Special Invitation for Gary Thomas's Audience To celebrate the partnership, Belah shares a special offer for Gary Thomas's audience. Those who sign up and share that they were referred by Gary Thomas can receive $500 or more in savings if they sign up for a Clarity Call and coaching before May 15. Final Encouragement: There Is Real Hope for Your Marriage Gary and Belah close with a message of hope. A painful marriage does not have to stay the same. A distant marriage can become connected again. A marriage that feels dead can be revived by the power of Jesus. The invitation is simple: take the next step, begin with a Clarity Call, and discover what God may want to heal.

Read Online“Amen, amen, I say to you, whoever believes in me will do the works that I do, and will do greater ones than these, because I am going to the Father. And whatever you ask in my name, I will do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything of me in my name, I will do it.” John 14:12–14Have you ever prayed repeatedly for something, only to feel your prayer was unanswered? In today's Gospel, Jesus promises that if we ask anything in His name, He will do it. How do we reconcile unanswered prayers with Jesus' promise? To pray in Jesus' name is not a formula that guarantees instant results, as if prayers were magical. Saying “In Jesus' Name, Amen” with confidence at the end of a prayer does not compel God to grant our requests. Faith is not about convincing ourselves that God will fulfill our desires but about placing our trust in His divine will. To understand Jesus' promise, “Whatever you ask in my name, I will do” (John 14:13), we must first recognize His perfect unity with the Father. Jesus' words and works flow entirely from this union, and He invites us to share in this relationship by aligning our will with His and the Father's will.In John's Gospel, Jesus began to address His unity with the Father after curing a crippled man on the Sabbath. When the Pharisees questioned Him about it, Jesus responded, “My Father is at work until now, so I am at work” (John 5:17). This infuriated the Jews, who tried to kill Him because He “called God his own father, making himself equal to God” (John 5:18). From that point on, Jesus became increasingly clear about His divine identity and union with the Father, emphasizing that He was sent by the Father, that He and the Father are one, and that everything He spoke and did originated from this unity. When Jesus cured someone, it was because it was His Father's will. If He didn't cure someone, it wasn't because He lacked divine ability; it was because, in the mystery of the Trinity's perfect wisdom, it wasn't the will of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God's will is always perfect and produces the greatest good, even when we do not understand that good. The Son is distinct from the Father, yet there is a perfect communion of being, will, and action. Though we are not God, when Jesus says to His disciples—and to us—“If you ask anything of me in my name, I will do it,” He is inviting us to share in the Trinity's will and action. We do not become divine as the Father and Son are, but we are invited into their union of will and action so that when we speak, it is Christ speaking in and through us. When we act, it is Jesus acting. And when Jesus speaks or acts in us, the Father also speaks and acts. It is in this way that Jesus promises to grant whatever we ask when we ask in His name.Praying in Jesus' name requires great humility and surrender. Accepting God's will often requires great trust, especially when it involves suffering. For example, if it were God's permissive will that someone you love endure a long and difficult illness, offering his or her suffering as a sacrificial act for God's glory, would you willingly pray for such an outcome? Doing so would be difficult, but if our prayer is united with God's will, we will see that such suffering, embraced sacrificially, can produce greater good than physical healing. Jesus' own Passion is the ultimate example, as He submitted to the Father's will, saying, “Not my will, but yours be done” (Luke 22:42).Reflect today on how you pray and what you pray for. At the very least, our every prayer should end with: “May Your will be done.” An even deeper way to pray in Jesus' name is to surrender our preferences for the outcome of a circumstance, seeking only God's glory and the salvation of souls, and entrusting ourselves and our prayers to the will of God. That way, as we truly pray in Jesus' name, we will be certain that those prayers will be answered. Most Holy Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, You are One God in three divine Persons. Your unity is perfect, accomplishing all things in harmony. Please draw me into union with You so that all I do and all I pray flows from Your perfect will, giving You glory and bringing about the salvation of souls. We'll reflect on the transforming power of mercy and the invitation to a generous heart—and spend time together in prayer for our families and the world. Join Hunter as we listen, reflect, and begin a new day grounded in God's love and grace. TODAY'S DEVOTION: The King is merciful, but the debtor is not. His debt has been paid in full. Mercy has been shown to him, yet this man will not show mercy to others. Why is he behaving this way? Why is his heart not changed by the mercy of the King? Why is he so desperate to collect from others now that he himself is debt free? Maybe it's because he resents the King. The heart of the flesh never wants to admit its debt. When the debt is pointed out, and even when it is forgiven, the heart doesn't receive it as such. The heart of the flesh is still trying to pay back and earn, to rid itself of the shame by extracting it from others. The debtor wants to free himself of the shame. He is desperate never to be in that position again. But the heart that is ready to receive mercy is evidenced by the desire to offer mercy. It realizes the debt was too great and there was no way to ever repay it. The King has absorbed the loss because of his generous heart, and this is true for you and me too. King Jesus has absorbed the loss, the debt — he took on the insurmountable debt on Calvary's mountain, and he said, "forgiven." We can never collect enough from others to pay back what we owe. We must simply receive from the generous heart of the King. That's it. And when we do, we're changed by his loving, forgiving, and merciful heart. And we can, and we must, offer the same heart of generosity to others, forgiving the debts of others as we ourselves have been forgiven. Today, let's live with that generosity of heart, for we have been forgiven. That's the prayer that I have for my own soul. That's the prayer that I have for my family, for my wife and my daughters and my son. And that's a prayer that I have for you. Amen. In this concluding installment of Vos Group's extended journey through Geerhardus Vos's Biblical Theology: Old and New Testaments, Camden Bucey and Lane Tipton reflect on one of the most significant themes in Vos's account of redemptive history: the relationship between the kingdom of God and the church. Focusing especially on Matthew 16 and Jesus's promise, "I will build my church," they explain that Christ is not introducing an unrelated people, but bringing the covenant people of God into a new, eschatological mode of existence through his death, resurrection, ascension, and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. The church is not a mere institutional add-on to the kingdom. Rather, in its inaugurated form, the church is the kingdom of God as constituted by the Spirit of the ascended Christ. The episode also explores the church's indestructible life, the meaning of the "gates of hell," the centrality of the means of grace, and the already/not-yet character of the kingdom's coming. Along the way, Camden and Lane also mark the end of this long-running series on Biblical Theology and preview the next phase of Vos Group on The Teaching of Jesus concerning the Kingdom of God and the Church. What if the key to living a truly godly life has nothing to do with trying harder—but everything to do with seeing clearly what God has already done? In Episode 3 of The Mystery of Godliness, Duane Sheriff teaches that living the Christian faith is not about rules and regulations… It is about who God is and what God has done for us. Godliness is not about rules, regulations, or what we can do for God, but rather about who God is and what He accomplished through Jesus Christ.A Christian's life flows from understanding the incarnation, the virgin birth, and Christ's substitutionary work on the cross. True transformation doesn't come from striving—but from seeing that God became man, lived among us, and took our place. This mystery was hidden from the powers of darkness but revealed to those who fear the Lord, and it becomes the foundation for true transformation. As stewards of God's mysteries, we are called to be faithful in understanding and sharing these divine secrets that hold the power to change lives.Discover how this mystery opens your eyes, renews your heart, and empowers you to live a life that reflects God—not by striving, but by believing.Click for FREE offer ➡️https://pastorduane.com/landing/the-mystery-of-godliness/

What if the Appalachian Mountains are hiding ancient places built for something far darker than history will admit? In this episode, Tony sits down with Bo Kennedy to explore the unsettling possibility of hidden Nephilim temples buried deep in Appalachia, where legends of giants, serpent mounds, cryptids, witchcraft, and spiritual warfare still seem to echo through the mountains. Bo shares the real research and personal experiences that inspired his novel, Army of God: Terror by Night, a story rooted in biblical warfare, ancient curses, forgotten mounds, and the fight between prayer and the powers of darkness. As the conversation unfolds, the mystery of Appalachia becomes more than folklore. It becomes a warning about what may still be hidden in the land, and what it means to stand firm in Christ when the darkness pushes back. Please pray for Tony's wife, Lindsay, as she battles breast cancer.
