Welcome to Multiverse News, Your source for Information about all your favorite fictional universesThough Disney and Marvel Studios have remained tight-lipped and cagey concerning details around the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday, the Internet, and a few reputable trades, have collectively discerned that we apparently “know when the Avengers: Doomsday trailer is coming.” The prognosticators have deytermined the trailer will be attached to December's Avatar: Fire & Ash – big news, if true! Another unconfirmed, but believable rumor that has taken the Internet by storm concerns Marvel TV's Wonder Man series and its episode run times, which places the longest episode at 34 minutes and the shortest at 23 including credits. Per The Hollywood Reporter, DC Studios has greenlit a Superman spinoff series focusing on standout Skyler Gisondo's Jimmy Olsen and coming to us from Dan Perrault and Tony Yacenda, the creators of Netflix's award-winning mockumentary American Vandal. The series is said to focus on Olsen and other Daily Planet reporters, (though Lois Lane and Clark Kent were conspicuously excluded,) as he tackles cases involving superpowered villains, with Season One featuring Flash rogue Gorilla Grodd as a big bad. Predator Badlands was the apex, ahem, predator at the box office last weekend debuting to $40 million domestically and doubling the haul internationally at $80 million worldwide. The film outperformed expectations, representing a much-needed shot of adrenaline in what has been a lethargic Fall box office, while also putting up bests for the franchise; beating out 2004's Alien Vs Predator and 2018's The Predator in the domestic and global arenas, respectively.Blue Beetle and Cobra Kai star Xolo Maridueña has been cast in season 3 of Netflix's One Piece and will play the character Portgas D. Ace.Jennifer Lawrence recently revealed that she and Emma Stone are developing a movie about the iconic Muppet Miss Piggy with Oh, Mary! writer and Tony winner Cole Escola penning the script, marking the character's first solo outing siynce Jim Henson debuted her on The Muppet Show in 1976.Netflix and Sony have finalized a deal for another “KPop Demon Hunters” movie, with plans to release the animated musical sequel in 2029.Lionsgate has released the first trailer for Michael Jackson biopic 'Michael' starring Jaafar Jackson, the nephew of the late pop icon. The film from director Antoine Fuqua is set to hit theaters on April 24, 2026, after its release was delayed several times.Prime Video announced that season two of The Night Manager, starring Tom Hiddleston, will premiere on January 11. The second season comes back to Prime ten years after the first season debuted. Warner Brothers has set a release date for the next film in The Gremlins franchise of November 19th 2027. Steven Spielberg is returning to executive produce “Gremlins 3” while “Harry Potter” filmmaker Chris Columbus is set to direct and produce. Disney has released the first official trailer for season 2 of Percy Jackson and The Olympians, which begins streaming on December 10th. In gaming news, Skydance Games is once again pushing the release for the much-anticipated “Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra” video game from May 2026 to November 2026. Rockstar Games also announced that they would be delaying Grand Theft Auto 6 once again, this time from May 2026 to November 2026 as well. Ryan Reynolds and Amazon MGM have teamed up to develop a remake of Thunderbolt & Lightfoot, a 1974 action comedy that starred Clint Eastwood and Jeff Bridges. Reynolds is eyeing to star in the adaptation and is also collaborating on the script with writers Enzo Mileti and Scott Wilson, a writing team who worked on season four of comedic crime show Fargo. Shane Reid, who edited Reynolds' Deadpool & Wolverine, will make his directorial debut with the project.

From Jimmy Olsen's true-crime docuseries DC Crime to James Gunn's Clayface tease, this week's DC on SCREEN dives deep into the weirdest corners of the DC Universe — and maybe the cosmos. We're breaking down the latest Supergirl updates, the supposed Lanterns release shuffle, and what the rumored Paramount-Warner merger could mean for James Gunn and Peter Safran's DC Studios. Also -- who the hell could Alan Ritchson be playing in the DCU? Plus: we get sidetracked by grey aliens, Betty and Barney Hill, and Valiant Thor — because of course we do.DC Crime (New HBO Max Series)American Vandal creators Tony Yacenda and Dan Perrault are developing a Jimmy Olsen-lead series DC Crime, a true-crime show hosted by Jimmy Olsen (Skyler Gisondo).Season 1 focuses on Gorilla Grodd, with James Gunn and Peter Safran executive producing.SupergirlActor David Krumholtz (Zor-El) confirms the film will dive deeper into the House of El and Krypton's legacy.Reports of reshoots/additional photography may include David Corenswet's Superman, possibly explaining the missing costume from the WB Studio Tour.ClayfaceJames Gunn celebrates Clayface's comic anniversary, confirming Tom Rhys Harries will bring the tragic villain to life. The post hints at a more nuanced, human Clayface rather than a pure monster.Lanterns UpdateThe Hollywood Reporter quietly confirms that Lanterns will debut after Supergirl in the new DCU timeline, but is that new information?DC Studios & Paramount Merger RumorsBloomberg reports Paramount CEO David Ellison aims to keep Gunn and Safran's leadership intact if a merger happens. We talk about corporate shake-ups, creative stability, and what that could mean for the DCU's future.Fandom Flanderization & BrainiacGunn reposts a video on “fandom flanderization”, reminding fans that there's no single “true” version of DC's heroes — just evolving interpretations.Alan Ritchson's “Messier” Role TalksRitchson confirms conversations with DC Studios about playing a morally grey anti-hero, saying he wants something “a little dirtier” than a clean-cut protagonist.Bat-Fam Animated SeriesThe new DC animated series Bat-Fam is now streaming on Prime Video.Bonus TangentsGrey aliens.Betty & Barney Hill's abduction.Valiant Thor's alleged time at the Pentagon.
Look up in the sky! It's a bird! It's a plane! It's James Gunn's Superman, here to launch the writer-director-studio-head's brand new (?) DC Universe. It moves faster than a speeding bullet despite having more plot than the last five Marvel movies put together–and some of those plot points hold up better to the green-K gaze of our hosts than others. Paul, Arlo, and Eric break down everything about this new big screen Man of Steel, including a perfect cast, major deviations from Superman's origin, Gunn's unabashedly political script, fuckboi Jimmy Olsen, and so much more. Maybe the film doesn't leap tall expectations in a single bound, but a movie like this has much more up (up and away) its Super-sleeve than any billionaire skinhead would expect. Plus, the gang dives deep into the sewers for a read-through of IDW's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles saga. NEXT: it's time once again to enter the gates of VAL-halla, as the gang discusses two of Val Kilmer's most iconic performances, namely as Jim Morrison in Oliver Stone's 1991 psych-biopic The Doors and Doc Holliday in 1994's neo-Western Tombstone. SUPERMAN $150 Million GLOBAL PROFITS?! A new article from Forbes is suggesting that Superman did even better than originally realized so let's dive into that article and the other DCU announcements today.

This was a good Saturday workout: not the hardest Saturday ever, but engaging, with some truly effervescent cluing. We covered the best-of-the-best in today's episode, but we would also like to note 26A, John Coltrane album whose title suggests making major progress, GIANTSTEPS (check it out, an awesome work); 46D, Pussyfoot: SNEAK; and the star of one of our favorite Marvel series, 9D, Elizabeth of "Wanda Vision", OLSEN (no relation to the photographer Jimmy OLSEN, one reason being that the latter is entirely fictional).Show note imagery: MANSAMUSA, the Elon Musk of his day (1280-1337 AD), admiring his favorite element on the periodic table, gold.We love feedback! A year after announcing a return of the imprint, DC has finally announced which titles will be coming to the new Vertigo Comics. They sound unique and interesting as Vertigo books should be. We then discuss James Gunn's Superman, the film that kickstarted the new cinematic DCU. It's less a review than a list of things we loved. Who was Sophia's favorite character? What was wrong with Metamorpho? Why is Colby like Jimmy Olsen? Listen and find out! And, as always, send feedback to vertigovoices@gmail.com!

In the second half of my conversation with Matt Fraction, we shift gears to talk about his ever-evolving writing process, from Batman to his Eisner-winning work on Jimmy Olsen and other standout projects from across his career.Fraction digs into how his approach to storytelling has changed over the years, balancing structure with spontaneity, and what keeps him inspired as both a writer and a fan.We also dive into today's movie and TV landscape—what's working, what isn't, and how the comics medium continues to shape (and sometimes outshine) its Hollywood adaptations. To wrap things up, Matt and I swap some of our favorite cult film recommendations—deep cuts and offbeat classics that deserve a spotlight. It's a wide-ranging, candid discussion that blends comics craft, pop culture commentary, and cinephile passion.

Send us a textOn our season finale to our 4th blockbuster year in the podcast space, we're going to answer the burning question on everyone's mind these days: What's the deal with Richard Lester? In order to find the answer, we're digging into the notable works from his four decades in show business, starting with 1964's A Hard Day's Night starring John Lennon Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr aka the Beatles along with Wilfred Brambell, Norman Rossington, John Junkin and Victor Spinetti then onto 1973 &74's The Three & Four Musketeers starring Oliver Reed, Michael York, Richard Chamberlain, Frank Finlay, Raquel Welch, Faye Dunaway, Christopher Lee & Charleton Heston and topped off with 1983's Superman III starring Christopher Reeve, Richard Pryor, Jackie Cooper, Marc McClure, Annette O'Toole, Robert Vaugh, Annie Ross, Pamela Stevenson and Margot Kidder. My guests this week are the ever-reliable Roseanne Caputi and fresh from the sweltering fields of the Sacramento Valley, camera in hand and twice the photobug that Jimmy Olsen ever could be, Gordon Alex Robertson. Before we bumble and stumble and pratfall our way into the madcap, muddled mind of Mr. Lester, the synopses: A Hard Day's Night follows the Fab Four during a 24-hour period as they attempt to escape the responsibilities and madness of fame, their managers --who need them to just stay put for a television appearance-- and the misdeeds of Paul's ornery grandfather who keeps throwing a monkey wrench in everyone's plans. The Three & Four Musketeers adapts the classic Alexandre Dumas swashbuckler, following the adventures and exploits of D'artagnan a young swordsman who travels from Gascony to Paris to join the King's Royal Musketeers as his father did before him. D'artagnan soon joins forces with three of the most colorful and dynamic musketeers, the friends Athos, Porthos and Aramis when the scheming Cardinal Richelieu's Elite Guards attempt to arrest them all for dueling. From there it's non-stop intrigue, war and tragedy as D'artagnan and his three cohorts try to rescue Queen Anne and her dress maker, the lovely Lady Constance, from the dastardly machinations of Count Rochefort and Milady di Winter, two of the Cardinal's most dangerous and effective spies. Superman III features The Man of Steel pitted against Ross Webster, a ruthless business tycoon, who enlists a bumbling computer programmer Gus Gorman to try and control the global coffee and oil markets. Thwarted by Superman at every turn, Ross and Gus build a living supercomputer to stop him for once and for all. But did Gus go too far?Did Richard Lester go to far? Is he an unsung genius, a Hollywood hack or stuck somewhere in the messy middle? Find out!Watch the video podcast on Youtube:https://youtu.be/oQWBL_l0I_c

Superman Reaction, Recap, Commentary, Analysis, Spoiler Review!! Andrew Gordon (Cinepals) & Tara Erickson react to Superman (2025), the first chapter in James Gunn's DCU reboot and the opening of the Superman Saga, now available on digital! After saying goodbye to Zack Snyder's Justice League (Henry Cavill in Man Of Steel & Batman V Superman) it's now times for David Corenswet (Pearl, The Politician) dons the cape as Clark Kent/Superman in a heartfelt and action-packed reimagining of the Man of Steel, alongside Rachel Brosnahan (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, House of Cards) as Lois Lane. The film blends classic Superman optimism with modern storytelling, introducing a balanced life between heroics and Clark's daily world in Metropolis. Co-starring Nicholas Hoult (Mad Max: Fury Road, Renfield) as a brilliant and manipulative Lex Luthor, Skyler Gisondo (The Righteous Gemstones, Booksmart) as Jimmy Olsen, and Isabela Merced (Dora and the Lost City of Gold, Rosaline) as Hawkgirl, with Edi Gathegi (X-Men: First Class) as Mister Terrific, Nathan Fillion (The Rookie, Firefly) as Guy Gardner's Green Lantern, and Anthony Carrigan (Barry, Gotham) as Metamorpho. Featuring breathtaking action sequences, heartfelt Daily Planet banter, and the promise of a bigger connected DC Universe, Superman sets the stage for the Superman Saga's next chapter. In this reaction we break down the standout moments, hidden DCU easter eggs, and the film's balance of hope, humor, and heroism. Host Anthony Desiato and guest Mike Sangregorio dig into the Superman bibliography of notorious writer Chuck Austen, including his 2004-2005 run on ACTION COMICS with Ivan Reis — which resurrected the decades-old romantic rivalry between Lois Lane & Lana Lang, introduced a new Gog, and infused Clark with a Spidey-esque sensibility. Anthony and Mike also unpack a pair of fill-in issues (on SUPERMAN and SUPERMAN: THE MAN OF STEEL), the 12-issue maxiseries SUPERMAN: METROPOLIS starring Jimmy Olsen, and the JLA arc "Pain of the Gods." Are all the fans and critics right about Austen, or is there any redemption to be had? Oh, and have Anthony and Mike solved the mystery of writer J.D. James Gunn's Superman held its premiere in London July, 2, where the director confidently told The Times of London that his superhero epic celebrates "the story of America" and champions basic human kindness in a world that desperately needs it. Meanwhile, star David Corenswet shared at the London premiere that his predecessors did “a very Superman thing,” with former Men of Steel Henry Cavill and Tyler Hoechlin encouraging him to make the role his own.Universal's Jurassic World Rebirth chomped its way to a $147 million five-day weekend opening during the Fourth of July. While those numbers would make any studio exec happy, they're actually a steep drop from the franchise's predecessors, suggesting that after 32 years, audiences might be experiencing some dino-fatigue. Universal clearly saw the writing on the wall and slashed the production budget from a mammoth $250 million down to a more modest $180 million, but the franchise is still roaring overseas.
