Ben Davison returns to take a look at a week in parliament that saw the Closing Loopholes bill pass the lower house, the greens and coalition team up to block the new shared home equity scheme, the mess that Labor is trying to clean up from Dutton's unlawful immigration detention scheme and Julian Hill's inquiry into Employment services. The Employment services inquiry has found a huge amount of waste, an ideological system that punishes people and fails to actually help people get work. Ben takes a look at the report, Van Badham's latest Guardian article on the topic and the insights of Per Capita CEO Emma Dawson as the Labor government considers changes that Dutton's Coalition has already said they will oppose. The Labor government's reform agenda is starting to face multiple fronts of inertia, vested interest and a media more interested in a fight and "who's winning" than in the impact that governing can actually have in people's lives. Ben take a look at why we need to cut through the noise and keep the debate focused on the billions of dollars and millions of lives that are improved by reform.
Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa became the first player to throw for 300 passing yards against the Las Vegas Raiders this year, ending Sunday with 325 yards and two touchdowns. That said, it wasn't always smooth sailing for Tagovailoa and the offense. Miami's quarterback threw an interception and fumbled the ball away early in the first half. On top of that, tight end Julian Hill also lost a fumble to the Raiders' defense. Although a consistent 70-point average isn't expected for Miami throughout the season, are current offensive struggles a phase of growth or a cause for genuine concern? Kader Kohou was Miami's undrafted gem in 2022 and it looks like three undrafted rookies will be on the Dolphins for Week 1 of the regular season. Based on talent, and opportunity like Kohou, which undrafted rookie could have the biggest role in 2023? Julian Hill is one of two tight ends on Miami's roster while running back Chris Books is fifth on the depth chart in an offense that features two of the league's top receivers. On defense, can Brandon Pili give the team 15-20 good snaps on a week-by-week basis? The Miami Dolphins released the first 53-man roster for the regular season on Wednesday afternoon but things are bound to change before the ink dries. Is general manager Chris Grier searching couch cushions or will the team move forward with in-house talent? At running back, the Dolphins kept five players including undrafted rookie Chris Brooks. How can the hard-nosed tailback make his way onto the field? Raheem Mostert is Miami's starting running back, could another back steal the starting role sometime during the 2023 season? With only two tight ends on the roster, does Julian Hill's background as a quarterback give him a chance to stick as an undrafted rookie? On the defensive side of the football, is Miami window-shopping for a defensive tackle? Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa threw an interception on the first play from scrimmage — not much else went wrong in a big 28-3 win over the Houston Texans on Saturday. The offense ran for over 200 yards while the defense held Houston to just 32 yards on the ground — tune in for 10 things we learned from Miami's win in Week 2 of the preseason. Was Tua Tagovailoa HIM(self)? Did anyone forget Mike McDaniel was a run-game coordinator? Is Chris Brooks the new Jonas Gray? Who will earn the No. 3 wide receiver job? Did anyone claim the left guard spot? Does rookie tight end Julian Hill have a shot to make the Dolphins? Just how good is Vic Fangio's defense? Was David Long Jr. a 'hit' in his first action? Did Channing Tindall have another strong day? What's the plan at cornerback? Another Dolphins Podcast is hosted by Joshua Houtz (@Houtz) and Jake Mendel (@JMendel94). The federal budget gave a much-needed, but very modest, increase to those on JobSeeker and associated payments. However, it didn't address that other important issue of the unemployed: how to help as many JobSeekers as possible to get into work, whether full- or part-time. This will be canvassed in the government's coming white paper on employment. It's already, however, before a parliamentary inquiry into employment services. In this podcast, Julian Hill, the Labor member for Bruce, who chairs that inquiry, joins us to discuss the job market and getting people into work. Hill has also been actively working for Julian Assange's release from London's maximum-security Belmarsh Prison. And he boasts a huge following on TikTok, the Chinese-owned social media platform, which is banned on official government devices.

The Labor party are really sad without anyone to play with, the government has a new Vaccine ad, Questacon made a bad video. The Labor party wants Scott Morrison Anthony Albonese really wants Scott Morrison. Julian Hill is worried about Scott Morrison missing. Tanya Plibersek is bored without Scott Morrison to play with. Stephen Jones drew a little cartoon about his mate. Michelle Rowland just wants to see her little friend. Good news! The Government is scrapping their plans to force independent assessors onto people with disabilities. The pilot of the project was a disaster. The NDIS is still underfunded and still makes access difficult for the people who need it most. NSW is fine I guess In late July 2020, Victoria was seeing 700+ Coronavirus cases a day. Now in July 2021, NSW is expecting 100+ cases. NSW Police performed a “compliance blitz” in Sydney's Western Suburbs, while ignoring wealthy areas. …repeating the pattern established in 2020. Vaccine watch But it's okay, the vaccine rollout is only 2 months behind! Morrison announced a “flood of Pfizer doses”. Pfizer says actually nah. General JJ Frewen has be placed in charge of the vaccine rollout logistics. The ADF isn't actually so good at logistics. But don't worry! The government has a great new advertising campaign to encourage vaccine uptake. Make the ad more horny! Boooooo alcopop tax. Listen to Eye of the Enemy, they've got a clever bass player. Questacon con Australian Science museum Questacon is spouting fossil fuel propaganda. The video series was funded by Japanese fossil energy company Inpex. Questacon claims the company had no input in the content. Climate change is being normalised by media. Why aren't we using more renewables and batteries? Because we need to use gas as a transition fuel! Inpex emitted excess carbon, enough to cancel out the savings from 1.7 million rooftop solar panels.
