We are back! And Tanner and Dr. Miles and joined by a new co-host. Meet Laura! We are talking about many things in this extended episode. She became a leader and started her own business teaching others how to maximize their productivity. But then one day not long ago, her son committed suicide and her need to address wrongs became her passion. And today she walks a path to greatness by giving meaning to her loss. It is my pleasure to introduce you to Laura Stack.

If you're a farm to table foodie, or someone who dreams of teaching cooking classes, you're going to love this episode! Laura Scheck always had a passion for food, where it comes from and how to make it. She has been a teacher, non-profit professional, and adult educator. Laura has always sought to help others be their best selves. In 2010, she started her neighborhood CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) with neighbors and became even more invested in where her food comes from. Laura developed a relationship with her farmer and learned more about eating sustainable foods. She practiced how to cook it, and how to put it away for a winter day. Eventually, the tug of the culinary arts and a passion for seasonal local cooking brought Laura to the Natural Gourmet Institute where she completed the Chef's Training Program in health supportive cooking. Laura now focuses on primarily plant-based, healing food. She offers cooking classes that are objective driven, informative and engaging for all ages. Join us to hear how she built a successful business teaching people how to make delicious, healthful dishes from what's abundant right now. She shares lots of valuable advice for anyone getting started in the cooking class instructor field.

What is Lion Launch? Let’s find out more with Laura Hoppes, Lion Launch Coordinator. Laura shared with us about this brand new entrepreneurial initiative being held at the Schuylkill Campus of Penn State. The Program is open to the community as well as Penn State students and staff. The first phase of Lion Launch is a ten-week Bootcamp entitled How to Start or Grow your Business. Some of the subjects provided in the ten week session include: human resources, marketing, social media, and insurance, to mention a few. Following the bootcamp, those participating move into creating a business plan for a four to five week period Phase II is a business competition. Penn State has earmarked $50,000 to help businesses earn money to build their business. The business competition will be open to the public as well as those in Lion Launch. It will be a shark tank type presentation with money presented to the top three winners. Phase III will be the incubator program providing businesses with a location to not only work on their business but to have administrative assistance as well as provide a means for networking and mentoring their business. SCORE has been very instrumental in implementing Phase I of the program by helping to create the curriculum and provide the speakers for the Bootcamp. Laura sees the SCORE mentors becoming a key role in Phase II and III. The most exciting fact is that Lion Launch has the potential of helping more than 75 businesses get involved in the community with its three year commitment to the Schuylkill county area. Some of the businesses that are in the initial class include a winery, medical device, and online businesses. Your business could become involved in future classes.

Meet Laura, a high achiever and writer at Seeking The Still. She was always able to meet every challenge and had a reputation of being super woman. She had such a high capacity for stress that she was able to get it all done without asking for help. Two years ago, she was chairing a school fundraiser when she experienced her first panic attack, quickly followed by a deep depression. Since then, Laura has found hope through counseling and learning to ask for help. She encourages people to ask for help, too, and reminds others who struggle with anxiety and depression that “there is always hope.” Laura encourages the other “wonder women” out there to look closely at their priorities and reevaluate how they are using their time and energy. “My brokenness is a better bridge for people than my pretend wholeness ever was.” – Sheila Walsh - Laura's Answers To The Fun Questions: • What are you loving right now? Goodwill and thrift shopping • What’s your favorite meal right now? Avocado with salt and pepper • What are you doing to take care of yourself? Ultra relay race • What are you doing to be brave?
